“Elizabeth is the best pet sitter that we have ever had. And my GP loves her, the only person she has warmed up to beside close family members. We are so happy we found such a wonderful person.”

“Just moved to the area and had to scramble to find a dogsitter for a trip back home. Olivia did a fantastic job caring for our two slightly neurotic goofballs. She went the extra mile with pictures, updates, and care. One of our pups accidentally hurt the other one in a wrestling match, and she made sure to diligently clean and bandage him up to make sure he stayed healthy and everything healed up quickly. Will definitely be calling Olivia again the next time we need to head out of town!”

“Our Princess Pearl loved her time with Morgan! Morgan left the house very clean - she even stripped the bed and took out the trash. It was such a relief to know our baby was well taken care of while were away. We will definitely use Morgan again!”

“Em was amazing! Very warm, communicative and reliable. Teddy seemed very comfortable. We received updates and pics. Will definitely book again. Felt very comfortable with the entire stay.”

“Kyanna was absolutely wonderful. She took care of our babies and it was very last minute. She sent us pics and updates. We would definitely use her again. We didn't have to worry, which is a true blessing. Thanks so much Kyanna.”

“We had a fantastic experience with Christopher! He was prompt and responsive during booking and incredibly communicative throughout the entire stay. He was so patient, understanding, and easygoing with our Floydie, who has anxiety and past trauma from an abusive situation, which meant the world to us. Christopher sent regular updates and photos that gave us total peace of mind, and we came home to our house exactly as we left it. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable sitter.”

“Thalia did such a lovely job taking care of our dogs while we were out of town! We felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands and would absolutely work with her again.”

About: I’ve been around and caring for pets my entire life, and I also have over two years of professional experience as a Kennel Technician at a dog boarding and daycare facility. In that role, I provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, administering medication, and monitoring their health and behavior. I also work with other staff to coordinate schedules and maintain consistent care. Working in a boarding and daycare environment has given me experience caring for dogs with different personalities, energy levels, routines, and needs. I’ve learned how important patience, attention to detail, and consistency are when caring for someone else’s pet. I understand that every dog is different, and I make an effort to follow each owner’s instructions and keep their normal routine as consistent as possible. Whether your dogs needs exercise, playtime, medication, or someone dependable to look after them, I want them to feel safe. I’m currently a student at Michigan State University, and my class schedule gives me plenty of availability outside of class. I have classes Monday through Friday, but I’m available before and after class and have especially flexible availability on weekends. I’m available for dog walking and house sitting. I understand that pets do best when their routines stay consistent, so I do my best to work around their normal schedule rather than expecting them to adjust to mine. I’m happy to communicate with owners about their pets specific needs and provide updates while they’re away. Safety and following each pet’s individual routine are my top priorities. My professional experience in dog boarding and daycare environment has taught me to pay close attention to dog’s behavior, energy levels, interactions, and overall well being. I also have experienced administering medication and monitoring dogs for changes in their health or behavior. When house sitting, I treat the client’s home with the same respect that I would want someone to show my home. I make sure doors, gates, and other entry points are secure, follow the owner’s instructions carefully, and keep pets supervised during walks and outdoor time. I know that leaving your pet with someone else requires a lot of trust. I want owners to feel comfortable knowing that their pet is being cared for by someone with real hands-on experience. I’m also happy to send photos and updates so you can see how your pet is doing while you’re away.
“Cheyenne took great care of all of our furry friends and our home while we were out of town, which included our pigs and chickens. Her communication was great, and she was such a life-saver when our flight was cancelled and we were delayed 3 days. Thank you Cheyenne! I look forward to booking your services the next time we need a housesitter.”

About: I have experience working in vet clinics and working with a variety of animals including farm animals and exotic animals. I also know how to handle animals and look for behavioral signs of happiness or discomfort. I am a student at Michigan State University and am available everyday between classes and the longest I’d be gone would be 2-4 hours a day. I am understanding of an animals adjustment to a new environment, I don’t have any other pets. I live in a one bed one bath apartment and have a fenced in area specifically for animals.
“I was nervous leaving my pets for a trip since I haven’t used this app but before but Nicolas let me know with plenty of updates that my pets were safe and getting lots of attention. Nicolas noticed their personalities and gave them lots of play time, updating me with pictures and details on how they were doing. Would 11/10 recommend Nicolas as a dog or house sitter. Thank you!”

“Camrynn was great. She watched my 2 newfoundlands for 6 days while we were on vacation. She was very communicative, and sent lots of photos and updates. It was also so lovely coming home to the house looking the way we left it. Highly recommend- thank you Camrynn!”

“I can’t thank Taylor enough for her attentive care for my pup while I was out of town. I had such a piece of mind knowing he was well cared for and getting taken care of just as I asked. Taylor was so informative and gave me pictures and videos everyday showing me how content my pup was. I will absolutely be using Taylor again to stay in my home with my pup while I am away!”

Ella was fantastic when she watched our 2 dogs in our home. She was reliable, trustworthy, communicated with us about the stay & sent us pictures of the dogs. The dogs loved her & seemed very happy when we got home. I will definitely seek her out for future pet sitting jobs & recommend her to others.

Jessa was an amazing sitter for my cat, Muzzy! She was very attentive to her needs and would update me regularly which I really appreciated. Muzzy grew very fond of Jessa over the week, despite being on the shy-er side sometimes. I would highly recommend Jessa to anyone in need of a cat sitter!

Julia was great! We are so grateful she cared for our pets while we were away. The dogs were happy and calm when we got back. Julia kept up informed and was easy to contact. She sent updates and pictures which we love! House was neat and everything seemed perfect when we got hack! Highly recommend!

Madison did a great job with our pups! They were taken on long walks/runs each day. She fed them, brushed them, took care of the meds they are on and overall did a great job! Enjoyed meeting her and look forward to having someone I can trust take care of them when needed.
Lillia B. did an absolutely fantastic job housesitting for our two older golden retrievers and our two cats! She kept up with their medications, supplied us with regular reports and pictures, and left our house immaculate. We hope she's still available when we're ready for our next trip. We recommend her without any reservation!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Lansing walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Lansing maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Lansing choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
