“Elizabeth is the best pet sitter that we have ever had. And my GP loves her, the only person she has warmed up to beside close family members. We are so happy we found such a wonderful person.”

“Chris has watched Sadie 2 times now, he has taken excellent care of our home and our very anxious old lady. He’s very enjoyable person to chat with as well and made us feel very comfortable entrusting him. 10/10 would recommend and will continue to use him exclusively if his schedule permits it.”

“Olivia was absolutely wonderful! She took care of both of my babies for me sent me pictures multiple times a day gave me updates and even left the house looking exactly how I left it! I will 100% have her watch them again”

“Camdyn watched our two dogs for four nights in our home and did an AMAZING job. She provided meds for one dog daily and took both dogs on daily hikes. She sent daily updates to me (she asked how often to message me before we left) and the house was super clean when we got home and you couldn’t even tell she was there the whole time. My dogs were super happy when we got home and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience (especially for the first time ever leaving our dogs). Thanks so much, Camdyn!”

“Rylee gives me a peace of mind that my pets are safe and cared for when I’m out of town. This is priceless! She has great communication and takes amazing care of my furbabies and my home. I’ll definitely be reaching out to her in the future.”

“Morgan did an amazing job watching our teacup Pomeranian, Herbie. She was responsive, caring, and took care of our baby and home as if it was her own. Will definitely book again!”

“Jamie devoted herself to caring for our dogs for two weeks. She kept us informed with daily updates, checklists, texts, pictures and videos. Clearly the dogs bonded with her and we didn’t worry about the dogs our whole trip. We can’t thank her enough for an amazing job! When we came home, the house was even as clean as we left it which was very much appreciated! Thank you Jamie!”

“I am a very nervous animal parent. I want the best care that I could give when I’m not there, and honestly.. Tashmica was that. She cared for Melon, Gimli and Pickles like they were her own animals. I got videos and photos of the times they had together, and hearing that my old baby boy who doesn’t do well around new people was able to get petted, I knew I made the right chose. Even when I would check the cameras in the home, melon did not look stressed, or seemed like she wasn’t having fun whenever Tashmica would come over so it was an absolute win-win for me! I will absolutely be requesting her whenever I am going out of town and the animals need to be watched.”

“Jessa did an amazing job with our three high energy dogs of varying ages. We have a very anxious rescue that does not do well with other people but Jessa won her over! She kept them all busy and they all seemed exhausted at the end of the day. Jessa was a trooper and resourceful when she became sick. I had no concerns that they were all being taken care of and getting their multiple walks a day. She did a great job communicating and I would recommend her to anyone needing someone to watch their pets.”

“Layla watched our very anxious dog for a week. He has serious separation anxiety and she was WONDERFUL! Her patience with him was outstanding, she made him comfortable and gave him so much love. I can not recommend her enough. Thank you Layla!”

“Cheyenne took great care of my pittie. She was communicative, clean, and made a trip away worry-free. My dog can be wary of new people, but she warmed up to Cheyenne quickly which was awesome. I will definitely look to book with Cheyenne again.”

“Tennille bonded with our cat and dog right away and was very responsive to learning about our senior dog's needs. We had great communication leading up to and during our time away.”
“Arden took great care of my little doggies. They were extremely communicative while I was gone, sending cute photos of my content little babies. Having confidence that all is well at home is invaluable during travel--Arden was clearly aware of that and took it very seriously. I look forward to Arden dogsitting again soon!”

Erin did a great job taking care of my kitties! She was very communicative, especially when there were unexpected events that occurred while I was away. She sent daily updates and pictures, and followed the instructions I left behind. The kitties seemed content with her presence, which is assuring.

Anel was excellent! She was very communicative, sending photos and updates daily. My house was clean and my dogs were happy! She even went to the store to pick them up calming chews after they got scared of the fireworks going off for the holiday. I will definitely be requesting her again in the future!

As always, Elizabeth goes above and beyond. The house was spotless, my kitty was happy, and her adorable report card was on the table. Elizabeth sends daily updates, and even let me know when they were experiencing severe weather and when they were safe out of the warning! I'd give 100 stars if I could.

Kerri is an absolutely amazing dog sitter — truly one of the best out there. She’s reliable, caring and someone we trust completely with Pearl and our home. Her communication is fantastic! She keeps us updated with plenty of photos, which always make our day. Pearl adores her so much that we wonder if we should be jealous ;-) And honestly, we want to gatekeep Kerri because she’s that good… but we won’t (even though a part of us really wants to). If you’re looking for someone who will love your dog like their own and keep you in the loop the whole time, Kerri is the one.

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Morgan. Our Cooper was well cared for and we appreciated the updates and photos throughout the stay. The house was in great shape too! It's rare to find someone you can trust with your pet and your home, and we've found exactly that. We recommend Morgan to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Karen was amazing! She was so caring and loving to our dog, and really went the extra mile to make sure he was taken care of, that we had thorough updates, and was attentive to any special requests or needs. I highly recommend Karen and will certainly try and hire her again in the future. Thank you, Karen! :)

I could not recommend Layne more!!! He went above and beyond to ensure my pup was well taken care of and keeping me updated. With a friendly attitude and extensive knowledge on dog behavior I felt confident leaving King in his care. He asked all the right questions and even left a well informed note about their day to day while I was gone. I feel very lucky to have been able to book such a great sitter so last minute. Thank you Layne!!! 🐾🐾🐾

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lansing walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lansing maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lansing choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lansing. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
