“Best dog friend we have ever found. Extremely attentive, stayed with the dogs the entire time and sent lots of pictures and updates. Elizabeth made sure our thunderstorm-shy puppy had his meds well in advance of the storm and even let one of the puppies sleep on the bed with her (turns out he does not share the bed well). We cannot recommend Elizabeth highly enough and will always check with her first when we go out of town!”

“Amber house sat with my dog and cat for the second time this summer. She goes above and beyond. Takes the dog for walks without being asked. Has gotten the dog a couple new toys. And made friends with my standoffish cat. Truly an animal lover and it shows.”

“We had a fantastic experience with Christopher! He was prompt and responsive during booking and incredibly communicative throughout the entire stay. He was so patient, understanding, and easygoing with our Floydie, who has anxiety and past trauma from an abusive situation, which meant the world to us. Christopher sent regular updates and photos that gave us total peace of mind, and we came home to our house exactly as we left it. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable sitter.”

“Morgan did an amazing job watching our teacup Pomeranian, Herbie. She was responsive, caring, and took care of our baby and home as if it was her own. Will definitely book again!”

“Isabelle was great with my animals-my cats are old and have chronic kidney disease requiring daily subcutaneous fluid. She handled that situation like a champ. She was also communicative and sent several pictures, which I love! Highly recommend Isabelle, and she’s definitely someone you can trust if any of your pets have medical needs.”

“Nathan took amazing care of my dog and two cats! He sent picture updates everyday and kept my house so clean :) my pets were in the best hands and I can’t recommend him enough! Book w Nathan 🙏🏼”

“Jamie took great care of our dog! Our 6 mo old puppy had just been spayed and was coming off a week and a half of very little activity so was pretty crazy but Jamie took it all in stride. She was personable, communicated well, texted updates, and even sent pictures! It was clear that she enjoys dogs - even our overly excited one. We look forward to hiring her again.”

“Meghan is wonderful! She made my shy dog feel comfortable while we were gone and bonded with him quickly. She was comfortable caring for our chameleon and aquarium as well. She took great care of my pets and home. We definitely will hire her again! Thank you!”

“Rylee gives me a peace of mind that my pets are safe and cared for when I’m out of town. This is priceless! She has great communication and takes amazing care of my furbabies and my home. I’ll definitely be reaching out to her in the future.”

“Lashyia was a fantastic and reliable pet sitter who went above and beyond in watching my 3-month old puppy. She worked on training with her and left everything clean and tidy. I absolutely recommend her and plan to use her services again when I’m next out of town.”

“Camdyn did such a great job with our 2 dogs and 1 cat! She was super responsive and sent lots of pictures and updates. She also took great care of our home. Highly recommend her!”

“We loved having Erik as a dog sitter, he was attentive, sent us photo & videos everyday & was trustworthy to have in our house being that we didn’t know him prior. He loves animals & he’s a great guy to hire. Will def use him again!”

About: Work gives me the ability to work from home, and now that I currently don't have any furry friends at home, I use that time to petsit when owners are out of town for extended periods of time. I have owned cats for as long as I can remember. And often dogs as well. My schedule is fairly flexible, with the ability to work from home often. And can cater to your pet care needs :) Every pet- just like every person- is unique and different Also available for house sitting or check ins (with or w/o pets) plant care, mail pick up, etc if needed or wanted. I’d love to have a meet and greet with you and your pet prior to setting up services so you and your pet can get to know me more :) Currently working full time but with the ability to work from home. I don't have pets at home right now so I am able to spend time pet sitting for others, whether drop ins or house/pet/plant sitting for short or long periods- whatever the need may be. Typically traveling to clients. I can either stay in home w your pet for whatever period of time you prefer, drop by however often, or adjust however is needed. I am hopeful to be able to host pets at my home soon as well.
“Tennille bonded with our cat and dog right away and was very responsive to learning about our senior dog's needs. We had great communication leading up to and during our time away.”
“I was nervous leaving my pets for a trip since I haven’t used this app but before but Nicolas let me know with plenty of updates that my pets were safe and getting lots of attention. Nicolas noticed their personalities and gave them lots of play time, updating me with pictures and details on how they were doing. Would 11/10 recommend Nicolas as a dog or house sitter. Thank you!”

“Cheyenne took great care of my pittie. She was communicative, clean, and made a trip away worry-free. My dog can be wary of new people, but she warmed up to Cheyenne quickly which was awesome. I will definitely look to book with Cheyenne again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lansing
Kerri is an absolutely amazing dog sitter — truly one of the best out there. She’s reliable, caring and someone we trust completely with Pearl and our home. Her communication is fantastic! She keeps us updated with plenty of photos, which always make our day. Pearl adores her so much that we wonder if we should be jealous ;-) And honestly, we want to gatekeep Kerri because she’s that good… but we won’t (even though a part of us really wants to). If you’re looking for someone who will love your dog like their own and keep you in the loop the whole time, Kerri is the one.

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Morgan. Our Cooper was well cared for and we appreciated the updates and photos throughout the stay. The house was in great shape too! It's rare to find someone you can trust with your pet and your home, and we've found exactly that. We recommend Morgan to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Elizabeth is an amazing caretaker for our kitties. She always keep us well informed, sends tons of pictures and updates. The house looks better than when we left and our 4 kitties would probably appreciate it if we stayed away longer!😂. They absolutely adore her.

Karen was amazing! She was so caring and loving to our dog, and really went the extra mile to make sure he was taken care of, that we had thorough updates, and was attentive to any special requests or needs. I highly recommend Karen and will certainly try and hire her again in the future. Thank you, Karen! :)

Thalia was such an amazing sitter to our pitties!! They warmed up to her instantly and it was a wonderful feeling that we could relax knowing that our doggies were in good hands with her! This being our first time using Rover, it was a blessing that Thalia made the experience so much better! We trusted her with our overly energetic Fiona and laid back old man dog Flash and would love to have her again! 100% recommend Thalia to anyone to look after their fur babies! Thanks again!! 💙

I could not recommend Layne more!!! He went above and beyond to ensure my pup was well taken care of and keeping me updated. With a friendly attitude and extensive knowledge on dog behavior I felt confident leaving King in his care. He asked all the right questions and even left a well informed note about their day to day while I was gone. I feel very lucky to have been able to book such a great sitter so last minute. Thank you Layne!!! 🐾🐾🐾

FAQs for House Sitting - Lansing
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lansing on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 493 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lansing. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lansing walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lansing maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lansing choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lansing. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
