“Stephanie was terrific! She kept great communication and was very attentive and gave the utmost care while watching my pitbull Dino while I was away. I felt confident leaving her to be responsible for him. She is reliable and trustworthy! Hope Dino can board again with her in the future.”

“Brianna was great! I was able to rest assured that my pup was secure and well taken care of while I was out of town and not stuck in a crate/kennel with 15 other dogs. She was very responsive, professional, and kind. I would definitely recommend her or use her again for boarding in the future. Thank you for taking good care of my fur baby!”

“Excellent! This was the first time we left Max without a family member. Brooke and her husband took very good care of him and he was very happy. We will definitely use Brooke again!!!!”

“Anthony was fantastic and Mishka loved staying with him. Great communication and updates as well as flexibility when my flight got delayed coming home. Highly recommend!”

“Nichelle has watched my 100lb great Pyrenees along with both of my cats and I'm pretty sure they would rather stay with her! Her, along with her family, absolutely adore my fluffy dog and I wouldnt ask anyone else to watch him. He is always excited to stay with them and has multiple times! Highly recommend if you want someone to watch your animals that will treat them like their own.”

“Molly is great! She has watched Scout twice, and she is prepared for his high energy personality. I love that she has a fenced in backyard he can explore, and her dog Spade is a sweetie who gets along with everyone.”

“Cody was awesome! This was my puppy's first time with a dog sitter and I was a bit nervous because she can be a lot to handle, but Cody was so patient and sweet with her, and he sent plenty of updates, I really appreciated it!”

“Fabulous sitter! She was quick to reply and took care of our babe last minute. She even went out of her way to drop him off for us, and waited 5-10 minutes extra due to our event not being done yet. HIGHLY recommend! THANK YOU SO MUCH!”

“Makayla was awesome. She was upfront about everything and communicated very well. I received multiple pictures and videos every day while she watched my dog. Highly recommend!”

“Pete and his family did an amazing job with Winnie. Loved getting picture updates as well so I could see how she was doing. Very happy with my first time using Rover and boarding at all and would definitely use again.”

“Samantha was great with our dog. She sent multiple pictures and videos and was very easy to communicate with throughout the process. Her dog seemed friendly and got along well with our dog. Her place is easy to get to in East Lansing, and she was easy to work with. Our dog came back happy after a two night stay.”

“My dog Noah had a great time with Chris over the weekend. I appreciated the way Chris communicated about how he was doing, was responsive to my messages, and sent daily pictures of my pup.”

“Was very impressed with the frequent updates and pics Toni sent. It made me feel very comfortable leaving my pup for the first time. I’m so glad we found Toni and will definitely be back.”

“Val and Theresa are the BEST!! It’s clear that they genuinely care about animals. They took the time to get to know Stella’s personality and individual needs. Stella is a thinker and likes to be engaged. They kept her mind busy with lots of puzzles and tricks. We appreciated and looked forward to the frequent pictures, videos and updates. It helped put our mind at ease, and assured us that our fur baby was being well taken care of while we were away. We’re beyond thankful for the care that they provided. Stella cannot wait to go back!”

“Joni was great with my mini dachshund, Zeke! He enjoyed his stay and was very spoiled. She sent us videos and pictures of our boy having a great time with his new friends. I would recommend Joni to anyone.”

“Jessica took Wonderful care of our Sparky girl for the weekend. Sparky has separation anxiety and Jessica sent us lots of updates and photos while we were away so we knew she was being well taken care of.”

I cannot say enough good things about Val (and Pearl!) Val is communicative, professional, and not only loves dogs, but KNOWS dogs. Val has a process to introduce pets, make your pet comfortable and make you feel totally at ease. After our first meet and greet, I was genuinely excited for our Nala to have the chance to spend the weekend with Val. The long leash walks, backyard, flirt pole and enrichment puzzles make it more like a dog retreat than stuffy boarding. I wish I lived closer because I would never need to find another dog sitter after meeting Val. If you are in the Lansing/East Lansing area- look no further!!

They were an amazing dog sitter! They were incredibly understanding and accommodating throughout the entire process, which made everything so much less stressful. It was clear they genuinely cared and made sure my dog was well taken care of. Communication was great, and they were flexible when needed. I felt comfortable knowing my dog was in good hands and would definitely trust them again in the future. Highly recommend!

Lauren did a great job watching our fur baby. She communicated well and sent photos and videos. I could tell from the videos that our dog felt comfortable in her home. She also took our dog on walks and played fetch with her. It was a great visit, and I would have Pattie Cake stay with Lauren again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
