Safety, trust & environment

Safety is my number one priority when it comes to caring for our furry friends. I only use pet-safe cleaning products and clean my apartment regularly. I make sure to inspect any excrement and urine for signs of a medical issue or other dietary concerns. Mental stimulation is also incredibly important for the well-being and happiness of any pet, so I make sure the play with pets for 15-30 minutes at least 2-5 times a day depending on the activity level required of each animal and am equipped with a variety of engaging pet toys. Finally, I understand that leaving your pet in the hands of a sitter can be intimidating and anxiety inducing. I always update pet parents with frequent updates and pictures to help ease any worries about being away from your pet. I am also a consistent and readily available communicator. I keep my phone on me at all times for work purposes and respond promptly to any messages during most hours of the day, outside of when I am actively attending classes.

Information Arden H. would like to know about your pet

Does your pet has any relevant dietary restrictions or needs? Is there any relevant medical information and/or instruction is should know about your pet? How often do they tend to go potty? How often to they go on walks/like to be walked? Do they have a history of reactivity or aggression? Do they have a favorite activity?

A typical day

When watching dogs, I tend to follow a similar routine for most pups, depending on their specific needs. I love to go on walks, especially with a sweet puppy to keep me company. I live quite close to MSU, and my favorite activity to do with dogs I watch is go on walks around campus. Whether we go on an adventure and explore the Red Cedar River Trail or make friends with other dog-loving pedestrians, the dogs always seem to love the new environment to explore and experience. Depending on the energy of the dog, I'll take them out on 2-4 walks a day to ensure they're properly stimulated and enriched. If they're dog friendly, I'll take them to a local dog park that always has other pups to play with if allowed by their owner.

Pet care experience

My passion for caring for animals began at a young age, my family has always had a dog which I learned to take care of once I grew up. Throughout high school, I would watch her when my family went on vacations as she is a very anxious pup and doesn't do well in kennels or with strangers. Because of her selective friendliness, I have become quite skilled in taking care of dogs. I give her a bath around once a month, depending on the messes she managed to get herself into. Due to her large size and my years of practice, I've gotten quite good at wrangling dogs into the bath, no matter how big they are. I have also watched pets for family, neighbors, and friends over the years. I have over five years of experience taking care of dogs, including boarding. I am also very cat friendly! I recently adopted my first cat, Rufus, this past February. I have learned a great deal from owning him and consider myself very comfortable taking care of cats. He's also very friendly towards other pets, making boarding a stress-free experience. I have always been fascinated by the connection that we as humans have with our pets, and have spent a bit of time studying animal behavior to better understand how to communicate with and better understand our furry friends. Overall, I love pets and completely understand how difficult it can be to find affordable and high-quality care for your pets, and I aim to help local pet lovers like myself find the right care they need for their pets.

Great job. I appreciate the cleanup and letting Daphne get a bit of time out. Good idea not to spend too much time in this heat.

My doggies needed a check-in at the last minute, and Arden was quick to respond to my request and ready and willing to help. My day could have been super stressful, worrying about my doggies while I was stuck away from home. But Arden, who is super reliable, made my day worry-free. Those kinds of seemingly small things make a big difference, and it's clear that Arden understands that. Highly recommend!
