“Stephanie is a true animal person & we love how she bonded instantly with our dog & cat. She took great care of the house as well & we hope she can visit again & again!”

“Jessi is great! This was my first time leaving my monsters alone and she was there with them the entire time which Im sure brought them comfort. She was great at sending updates as well! I am so grateful for her!”

“Fatima was great with our needy senior dog while we were away. She gave lots of updates with photos and let us know how it was going throughout the weekend. Our house was in great shape when we returned and even our very shy cat seemed to warm up by the end. Would definitely recommend Fatima to anyone looking for in-home sitting and we hope to use her again in the future!”

“There's a lot going on at our house - 3 dogs and chickens and plants to water and various other things going on, so, dog sitting is really a misnomer. And I really worry about everything being ok when we're away since there do seem to be so many moving parts (plus all of the dog personalities!). Larissa was, in a word, amazing. She handled our dogs and their needs flawlessly, plus we came home to everything else being just as we left it. She sent pictures, texted questions, and was always responsive. Most importantly, I could tell that our dogs were really, really happy. I would have her back in a heartbeat.”
“This was my second experience utilizing Rover house sitting. Communication was excellent with photos and prompt replies. She even mopped the basement and cleaned the kitchen sink area, which was an added bonus. My understanding was that she and her husband would stop by 4 times a day and walk the dogs. The house smelled good upon arrival and my pets appeared to be in good health & spirits. In addition, she is a retired vet tech. So, yes, I would consider having the couple house sit again.”

“Jordan was very communicative, willing to do a meet, and greet, and helpful with our dog’s medical needs while watching her. She provided frequent updates with pictures and gave us peace of mind while away. Thank you, Jordan!!”
“Jennifer is so loved by our animals! We are so happy to have found someone that we feel so comfortable leaving our animals with. Jennifer is also an excellent house guest and made sure everything was in order so we could just get home and relax after our travels.”

“Kelly did a fantastic job as always! I accidentally set the wrong start date for our dogsitting coverage and she was able to come over on extremely short notice to help bridge the gap. We always feel totally comfortable having her watch our sensitive dog, and she goes above and beyond in keeping the house clean for our return.”

“Jackie was great! She kept us updated daily about Marley and Lucy. She was respectful of our home and even washed the bedding for us. We will definitely use her services again in the future. Thanks Jackie!”

“Kasey was wonderful! Our dog can be nervous around new people and Kasey handled it like an absolute pro. She sent lots of pictures, and checked in multiple times. She was also an excellent house guest. Highly recommend.”

“Rani was so great with Rocko and gave us lots of updates and pictures which we appreciated! She also kept our house tidy. Definitely would recommend and rebook for future dog sitting/ house sittings!”

“The best pet and house sitter we have ever had, hands down! It was so nice relaxing on this recent family trip knowing our home and furry family members were in such good hands. Absolutely recommend!”

“Kaylee did such a wonderful job of taking care of my dog. It was very hot outside. She was careful in monitoring him during their walks. I really appreciated her help. My dog is happy and quietly sleeping. That means that he had a very good day today. I have Kaylee to thank for that.”

About: I freaking LOVE dogs. And they love me! I’m very patient, playful, caring and alert. We love having fun together— we both get the zoomies! Dogs tend to listen to and respect me easily. I help them to feel safe by making boundaries clear. I have a lot of experience noticing any indicators if something is off, administering meds, and continuing their existing training. I just love being their buddy! I work from home and have a very flexible schedule. Having a chance to take a walk or spend time with a pet is a great chance for me to clear my mind and get outside. I try to stick a schedule that a pet is accustomed to whenever possible. I get to know their personality and see how I can help them have a good time, and feel safe and comfortable when we’re together. I’m very attentive to their behavior and mood.
“Tj was wonderful with our cat! He loves animals and animals love him. Shoni was so relaxed and happy with him. He kept the house clean. We came back to a happy kitty and a clean home. Definitely rebooking!”

“Sophia cared for our pup and our indoor kitty for over a week. Sophia was communicative when questions came up, kept our animals alive and well, and ensured we came back to a tidy house. Thank you, Sophia!”

About: Hello! Our family loves dogs. We've had two dogs in the past, one dog for 8 years and one for 6 years, the latter having recently passed away. In between having them, my wife has fostered a half dozen dogs from the Huron Valley Humane Society that just needed a break to unwind. Your dog would get three times the love compared to just one person taking care of your dog, as both me, my stay at home wife, and my 9th grade daughter would be taking care of them. Dogs love the wooded, fenced-in backyard. They would have the option to sleep in my daughters bed. Since our most recent dog passed away, that's opened the opportunity for us to house and love other peoples dogs. Our dogs and our friend's dogs were allowed to go on the couch and sleep in beds with my daughters. Your's would have the same opportunity, if you allowed it. Prefer dogs that don't whine. Also, if there is something we normally have out that we will need to put away, we are not interested. For example, if your dog will chew on our coats or blankets, it wouldn't be a good fit. Also, my 9th grader needs her sleep. Drop offs and pick ups only between 8AM and 8PM.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Ypsilanti is $50

Carolyn was wonderful! This was our first time trying an in house sitter and everything was great. She was very attentive and communicated all during her stay. Carolyn eased my anxieties upon meeting her and discussing everything. We will be using her again and would recommend her as well.

Kaylee did such a wonderful job of taking care of my dog. It was very hot outside. She was careful in monitoring him during their walks. I really appreciated her help. My dog is happy and quietly sleeping. That means that he had a very good day today. I have Kaylee to thank for that.

Kasey is so great, I have two pets she has cared for twice now, a puppy and a dog who have very different personalities and needs. She has been able to connect with my dog who is a bit standoffish and manage my velcro puppy. She is also great at checking in and asking questions if they arise, and sharing updates and photos. She has went above and beyond to make sure they are having fun with her. I am so grateful when she comes because I know that they are in great hands and highly recommend her!

Haevin was great! I went on a trip for almost 2 weeks and she stayed with my pup Walter while I was gone. It was really nice being able to leave Walter in the environment he’s comfortable in, as he can struggle with separation anxiety. She sent pics and even went above and beyond and picked up the poop in the yard. That was so sweet and not expected! Thanks Haevin!!

Myasia was excellent! She was very kind with my cat, who needs some extra affection, playtime, and attention. My cat gets stressed if I stay away for too long, and she sometimes gets blood in her urine. Myasia stayed with her, slept with her, and kept everything very clean. I would recommend her highly!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Leanne. She stayed in our home for a week while we traveled to Aruba with family, and she made the entire process completely stress-free. She provided regular updates with photos and videos, which meant so much to us, but also struck the perfect balance so we could truly relax and enjoy our vacation without worry. Our dog was so well cared for; walked consistently and given her medications right on schedule. She truly went above and beyond. In addition to caring for our dog, she handled a medication delivery for my husband and made sure everything was taken care of properly. She also watered our plants and treated our home with great respect. We came back to a house that was in excellent condition. She is incredibly kind, trustworthy, and simply lovely to work with. We truly appreciated everything she did and would absolutely use her again in the future.

Kasey was THE BEST. She is very easy going and is quick to pick up on any special needs or implement tasks with a calm, ‘I got this’ way. She is prompt and when I was late, she was very understanding. I have 2 seniors, and felt very comfortable with them in her care and her being in my home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ypsilanti on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,859 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ypsilanti. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ypsilanti walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ypsilanti maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ypsilanti choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ypsilanti. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
