“Ally was a great dog sitter. She took great care of Bernard and was very communicative. She send constant updates and photos of Bernard which made it easier for us to leave him behind knowing that he was well taken care of.”

“Nichole is wonderful! Communication is top notch - lots of pictures and updates were so appreciated. The two goofballs loved her! Nichole administered medication to one of the dogs, followed feeding and supplement instructions perfectly and took great care of our two doggies. Highly recommended!”
“We’ve used Rylie twice now and she’s done a fantastic job. Our pup seems to have really taken to her. We also accidentally booked 1 night short of our return date and she was happy to adjust plans and stay an extra night!”

“I reached out to Alex to watch my pup on very short notice. Not only did she respond quickly, but came to visit a day prior to my departure to get to know Bailey before I was to leave early the following morning. My pup has significant anxiety, but from the moment Alex walked in she was at ease. Alex provided pictures and updates throughout her stay. Recommend her highly!”

“Lindsey took such good care of our fur babies and feathered ladies. I have 2 cats, 2 German Shepherds, and 13 chickens and she gave them lots of love and attention while we were gone. We got lots of photos and check ins which put my family at ease! Will definitely be reaching out to Lindsey in the future when we want to go on vacation. 10/10! 💕”

“Greyson is incredibly communicative, mindful, and responsive. As a fellow rover sitter, I have to say I'm very impressed with Greyson's attention to detail and process. Greyson also demonstrates care and love for my pet, and it's great having someone like them come to my home and watch my house and fur baby. Highly recommend if you're looking for someone to care for your pet while you're away!”

“Christine was so great with Lenny! He was immediately comfortable with her, she was immediately comfortable with him - and he immediately listened to and followed her lead. Her considerable experience (with all kinds of animals and particularly dogs in this case) was very apparent. She was attentive, meticulous, and provided many updates throughout the long weekend we were away. Lenny seemed sad when he realized she wasn't coming back the night we returned.🙂 We would absolutely hope to book with her again.”

“Izzy is the best! They made Miles feel very comfortable during his first day without us, and he was very happy and tired when we came home. They also sent many great pictures and gave frequent updates. We will 100% be asking Izzy to sit again soon!”

“Nicholas is great! He takes such great care of Killian. Walking him everyday and taking him to the dog park. Killian loves Nicholas and trusts him. I feel very comfortable having him watch Killian in the future.”

“Tj was wonderful with our cat! He loves animals and animals love him. Shoni was so relaxed and happy with him. He kept the house clean. We came back to a happy kitty and a clean home. Definitely rebooking!”

“Kelly did a wonderful job, as always! Our girls just love her- and it’s clear she loves them back! There was a brutal heatwave while we were gone and Kelly was careful to keep our dogs cool with the water hose, and walked them when it was cooler outside. She played with them and gave them all the love and attention they are used to when we are home. She took great care of our house and also watered our potted plants to keep everything alive during the intense heat. When we returned home, the dogs were clearly well cared for, and were very relaxed and non-stressed by our absence. The house was clean and well kept while we were gone. Kelly is our go-to person when we have to be away. We completely trust her!”

“Miranda was absolutely INCREDIBLE! My wife and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after our two cats and our home while we were away! She gave our cats sooooo much love and attention and was amazing at being creative to administer meds to our stubborn boy. Miranda sent us daily pictures and videos and was even great about following our kitchen safety protocol for our gluten free home (wife has celiac & I’m newly gluten intolerant). Miranda was especially great with our temperamental girl kitty, and also left our home cleaner than it was before we left it! I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Miranda ❤️ We know exactly who to book for our next vacation. Thank you so much, Miranda! ?”

“We definitely enjoyed having Alexis as our pet sitter. She did a great job with our doggies. Dogs were happy when we got back, the house was very clean and we got tons of puppy pictures every day. Thanks again for your help, we look forward to working together in the future!”

“Ava was wonderful with Maizey! She kept us posted with updates on how Maizey was doing, and sent pictures so we could see how happy she was. She took great care of our house, and left it exactly the way we did—maybe even better! We are so happy to have found Ava, and Maizey is too!”

“Fatima is our first choice for a dog sitter. She’s dependable and sensitive to our older dog’s needs. She has great communication skills and keeps us updated with pictures and recaps while we’re away.”

“Rainy was great. We had kind of a weird situation where we needed someone to watch earlier in the day and then come back in the evening and she accommodated that and sent tons of pictures was communicative.”

“Gabbie was a great dog and house sitter! We were out of the country for ten days and I felt fully comfortable having her stay in our home and watch our dog. We came home to an immaculate house and happy pup. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for pet care in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.”

“Really impressed with Beau's professionalism, attention to detail, communication, and support. Chris was (obviously) happy and healthy when we got back as well. Really appreciated the whole experience.”

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Katie! From our meet and greet to the actual sitting she was always super flexible, supportive and communicative! Arya our corgi can be a little picky with food and sitters but she immediately vibed with Katie! Katie was always in touch , she was flexible with the time to arrive and she was always flexible with the transition in the last day of sitting! She also was super understanding of Arya's feeding needs, and kept us informed all the time on how she was doing, the walks they would go which gave us peace during our vacation. She also left our house super clean! I cant say enough good things about her!

The house was left very neat and she was good at communicating with us. Our cats hid throughout much of her stay, but that's their normal behavior with new people and not a reflection on Jaicyn. She actually seemed like a caring and nice person and we're hoping to have her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Van Buren Charter Township walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Van Buren Charter Township maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Van Buren Charter Township choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
