Nichole was absolutely wonderful! Our dogs loved her and felt comfortable with her right away — even Bugsy, who usually takes a little time to warm up to new people. It made such a difference being able to keep them in their own home; it was so much less stressful for them. She sent daily photos and updates, and you could clearly see how happy and well cared for they were. I truly couldn’t be happier with the care they received. We would absolutely book with her again!

Fatima is great with our pup and an excellent house sitter. We definitely had peace of mind while we were away and appreciated the regular communication and pics—especially as we haven’t traveled without our dog in a while, so we were a bit nervous about leaving her with someone new. Fatima is reliable, kind, and treated our big, goofy dog with care.

Crystal did a really good job taking care of my dog. He has much energy and is always curious. She took him on several beautiful, long, peaceful walks. He loves exploring new places and meeting new people. Crystal took care of all of that. When I returned home, he was happy, he was tired and he was smiling. I am so happy. I highly recommend Crystal.

Hope is a delightful, caring, and attentive sitter. I was impressed with how in tuned and observant she was at our initial meet and greet to Buddy's overall physical health, demeanor and needs. Even before we arrived in Laguna Beach, Hope reached out to us to see if there was anything she could do beforehand to make Buddy and our visit stress-free and enjoyable. Buddy was very relaxed in her care and I had no hesitancy in leaving him in Hope's care. She is definitely an animal lover. Her focus will be on caring and loving your pet when she is with them. I highly recommend Hope and will definitely use her again when visiting the Laguna Beach area.

Erin really went above and beyond for us. Just before we were about to take a long planned vacation, one of our kitties came down with a virus and required multiple medications, including IV fluids. We were so grateful to have found her profile. She is an expert cat sitter, with the background as a vet tech and was able to administer all the medications as needed while we were gone. Also, she kept our house was in tiptop shape. Best of all, when we came home and our sick kitty was back to being himself. We couldn’t have asked for more. Although we don’t have dogs, I’m sure that Erin provides the same expert care for them as well. We will be having her back for sure.

About: Besides being an animal lover, I have experience and working knowledge of animal behavior as a former boarding associate at PetSmart. I know that boarding isn't for all animals, and offer my pet-sitting services to those that want their animal to stay in the comfort of their own home. I am comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all sizes, and breeds. I like to work with each owner to find out what things are special to their animals while they're away to help both the animal and owner feel most comfortable. I work from home and find that I like being active on my lunch breaks, as well as before and after work. I'm happy to take your animal for a walk, or spend quality time with them in whatever way they enjoy most. I like to first start out my finding out more about each animal, what is their routine, what things do they enjoy doing, and tailor the care to each of them. I also like to identify safety concerns such as, potential escape areas in backyards, known issues with other animals in the neighborhood etc. No one animal is the same, but I'm very good at getting to know each of them individually.

About: I am an animal care professional with a degree in animal studies and over a decade of pet sitting experience. I have worked extensively with dogs and cats in environments such as boarding facilities, training centers, shelters and more. I am also familiar working with various exotics. Animal care is my passion and as your sitter I can guarantee the best possible care for your pet. I have a very flexible schedule. I can come for quick drop-ins, such as potty breaks and feedings throughout the day. Or I can do longer visits for activities such as walks, playtime and cuddle time. If your pet is not much of a cuddler I can also just come by to be a loving human presence for a few hours while they go about their day. I am available practically anytime on specified days. While caring for your pet in your home I will respect your household and follow all of your specified pet care instructions. I will make sure to clean up after your pet whenever necessary and use the specified leashes, collars, toys, food, and spaces as instructed. I am here to carry out their normal routine as best I can while caring for them as if they were my own.

Christine was so great with Lenny! He was immediately comfortable with her, she was immediately comfortable with him - and he immediately listened to and followed her lead. Her considerable experience (with all kinds of animals and particularly dogs in this case) was very apparent. She was attentive, meticulous, and provided many updates throughout the long weekend we were away. Lenny seemed sad when he realized she wasn't coming back the night we returned.🙂 We would absolutely hope to book with her again.

I had never used rover before my recent vacation and I am so glad I did. Cleo was so great with giving me updates and my pup truly was very happy to stay at home while we were gone instead of going somewhere unfamiliar. Cleo was also a very respectful house guest! Overall she was the perfect person to watch our cal, and I had a great vacation not having to worry about a thing! I hope to have Cleo watch cal again next time!

Greyson was a great pet sitter. This was our first time using Rover and Greyson made the experience so easy and reassuring. She made sure to meet our pets before we left and to get any special instructions. While we were gone we got updates every morning and evening. This not only assured us that everything/everyone was doing well, but showed us how comfortable our pets became around Greyson. We also had a massive storm while we were away with a prolonged power outage. Greyson made sure to let us know that all the pets were doing fine and kept us informed on the status of our power and household. It was such a relief to be able to have that communication. We will definitely be rebooking with Greyson for future trips and I would highly recommend them.

About: I’ve been a dog owner for over 15 years, I’ve been involved in training them and taking care of them, even in emergency situations. I’ve had pets ever since I was little and have always been responsible for their well being. My career is a banking professional and I’m looking for some additional income to help pay for my love of traveling (with my dog), and just extra spending money. I currently work a full time, Monday-Friday, 9-5 work from home career, however I can work from home while watching your furry family members and making sure they are well taken of and provided the necessary attention. I currently take my dogs for walks and play with her in the back yard multiple times a day and I can do the same with yours.

About: I have taken care of family dogs since I was old enough to remember. I grew up with 2 shih tzu's at home, and they were my fiercest protectors. I have taken care of both senior dogs and puppies. I love caring for dogs (every size and breed!). I know how hard it is to leave your best friend behind, which is why my goal is to give you total peace of mind. Whether we’re out for a long walk or curled up on the couch, I promise to treat your pup with the same love and devotion I would give my own. You can enjoy your time away knowing they aren't just being watched—they’re being pampered, played with, and truly cared for. I’m currently working full-time (9 am-5 pm) Monday-Friday, so I would be perfect for a weekend or long weekend coverage. I am available Fridays after 4:30, and typically all day on Saturdays and Sundays. I am also open to staying during the weekdays as long as your pet does not need to be taken out in the middle of the day. I can have pets in my apartment so I am available for boarding! And, I would be more than happy to do home-stays or quick drop-ins for walks and feeding!

Wow! Jennifer & Kim are amazing! We (pet parents & pup) were comfortable from the very first. They asked all kinds of questions to gain detailed info about our pup's routines & habits to ease his transition and make him feel at home. Frequent updates with photos were provided to ease parent "separation anxiety". Not only did they provide a safe, secure place for Sparky, but I truly believe they also adopted him as their complete family member until we returned. His comfort was obvious when he was more interested in sniffs than us upon our reuniting (even though we missed the uber-enthusiastic greeting he could've given). I cannot express my appreciation enough. Highly recommended. Great people & super pet & animal friendly.

FAQs for House Sitting - York Charter Township

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in York Charter Township on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,309 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across York Charter Township. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred York Charter Township walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in York Charter Township maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York Charter Township choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in York Charter Township. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
