Nicole did her usual wonderful job with Gracie. Our rather shy and careful dog rewarded her with sleeping in the bedroom she used, asking for pets and letting Nicole rub her belly! High praise indeed.

Fatima was a fantastic sitter for my young basset hound. She was super responsive, sent lots of updates and photos, left my home is pristine condition and did a great job managing a very energetic large puppy. Can't recommend her highly enough.

Denise was wonderful with my dogs. I have 3 small dogs who like to have company at home and that’s exactly what she provided. I was able to relax peacefully knowing my babies were safe and home, enjoying themselves. I got lots of updates throughout the weekend including videos and texts. She left the house exactly as she found it and had no issues! I will be inviting Denise back for my next trip!

Hope is very kind, experienced, and reliable. She stayed at our home taking care of our dog Grover while we were away on vacation, and we had peace of mind knowing that Grover was in good hands. She did not mind taking long walks with Grover several times/day (which Grover loves). She followed our requests and instructions and kept us informed daily about Grover's status. She also interacted very well with Grover's best-dog friend across the street. She was great!

This was my second experience utilizing Rover house sitting. Communication was excellent with photos and prompt replies. She even mopped the basement and cleaned the kitchen sink area, which was an added bonus. My understanding was that she and her husband would stop by 4 times a day and walk the dogs. The house smelled good upon arrival and my pets appeared to be in good health & spirits. In addition, she is a retired vet tech. So, yes, I would consider having the couple house sit again.

Greyson was absolutely wonderful! They stayed at our home for four days to take care of our dog. They are reliable, kind, and attentive to every detail of our dog’s routine. They sent us daily updates and photos of our pup who looked so happy and relaxed in every picture! When we got home, the house was spotless, and our dog was calm and clearly well cared for. It’s a relief knowing we can trust someone now to take great care of our home and our dog. We’ll definitely be booking with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and caring sitter!

Annabelle was incredible with both our two pups, a 9yo yellow lab and a 8mo old black mouth cur mix. She house sat and took care of them from a Friday to Sunday. She gave us periodic updates and made us feel very comfortable while we were out of town. She arranged an introduction with the dogs and they were immediately comfortable with her. We will definitely be having her sit the dogs again!

Crystal did a really good job taking care of my dog. He has much energy and is always curious. She took him on several beautiful, long, peaceful walks. He loves exploring new places and meeting new people. Crystal took care of all of that. When I returned home, he was happy, he was tired and he was smiling. I am so happy. I highly recommend Crystal.

Nichole was absolutely wonderful! Our dogs loved her and felt comfortable with her right away — even Bugsy, who usually takes a little time to warm up to new people. It made such a difference being able to keep them in their own home; it was so much less stressful for them. She sent daily photos and updates, and you could clearly see how happy and well cared for they were. I truly couldn’t be happier with the care they received. We would absolutely book with her again!

Paul was fantastic! He is one of if not the best house sitter we’ve ever had. He was super prompt with messaging us, played a lot with our three dogs, and went above and beyond by picking up their “business” in our backyard so we came home to a clean yard too. The dogs were clearly happy with him being there and we definitely will look to rebook him. We couldn’t have asked for better.

Kaylee did such a wonderful job of taking care of my dog. It was very hot outside. She was careful in monitoring him during their walks. I really appreciated her help. My dog is happy and quietly sleeping. That means that he had a very good day today. I have Kaylee to thank for that.

Maura is exceptional on every count. The dogs (including our senior Black Lab) loved her when we met her at our initial meeting . She sent regular updates and photos. We lost electricity for over 24 hours and she handled it with patience and professionalism, getting all the items needed to keep herself and our 2 dogs warm and happy. She managed 3 meals and meds for our older boy and got them on an impressive schedule that we hope to maintain. Her knowledge and understanding of caring for animals, and her problem solving skills are remarkable. We were so fortunate to have found her and hope to utilize her services in the near future! Any pets will be in the most capable hands with her.

Wow! Jennifer & Kim are amazing! We (pet parents & pup) were comfortable from the very first. They asked all kinds of questions to gain detailed info about our pup's routines & habits to ease his transition and make him feel at home. Frequent updates with photos were provided to ease parent "separation anxiety". Not only did they provide a safe, secure place for Sparky, but I truly believe they also adopted him as their complete family member until we returned. His comfort was obvious when he was more interested in sniffs than us upon our reuniting (even though we missed the uber-enthusiastic greeting he could've given). I cannot express my appreciation enough. Highly recommended. Great people & super pet & animal friendly.

FAQs for House Sitting - York Charter Township

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in York Charter Township on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,329 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across York Charter Township. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred York Charter Township walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in York Charter Township maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York Charter Township choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in York Charter Township. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
