“Megan is just what I was looking for in a pet sitter. Someone I can trust staying at my house and taking the best care of my fur babies. She took the best pictures of them and checked in regularly. Can’t thank her enough 💗”

“I was very happy with Alex. She obviously took great care of my critters. Nahla was excited to go for a walk with me, and she didn’t want to go before! When we had our meet and greet, Nahla was enthralled with Alex and Simba came up and gave her a kiss! He only gives me kisses!!! That kind of clenched it for me. She sent a few photos and stayed in touch. I will use her again if she’ll have us.”

“Absolutely wonderful. Took care of my energetic puppy, my socially awkward doggo and my very weird cat with no problem. Left the place just as she found it and was an amazing communicator. They and I cant wait till she comes back. So appreciate!”

“Charles took good care of our dogs, He was not fazed at the initial meet & greet when our younger but larger dog was quite excited and jumpy. He arrived on time and provided creatively silly updates on our pups. We would definitely like to book his services again.”

I recommend using them for any of their services they will make the dogs feel comfortable and safe! Dario took our dog Atlas on so many walks while he was house sitting Atlas was exhausted! They are our go-to!”

“Absolutely Amazing!!!!! I could not recommend Jennifer enough. Her love and care for my two dogs was out of this world. About: Hello! I’m Allison. I have an over whealming love for pets! I’ve grown up around dogs all my life and have dog sat many times for close relatives and/or friends, dogs as little to a beagle to a big old german Shepard. I pride myself in my love for animals and ability to connect with them. I understand how difficult it can be to leave your furry one with someone, so my goal is to provide the reassurance that your pup is in good hands(: I have professional experience working through animal shelters and provided dogs with daily meals, cleaning up after them, and providing medication. i work full time already but am looking for a side job to help pay for college. Feel free to ask any questions you might have or if you would like to know anything else about me(: I am currently focusing on school so I have a lot of free time outside of that. I would love nothing more to help you take care of your fur babies with my free time! I have many years experience with taking care of dogs so i’ve become well attuned to their physical and mental needs. I will go out of my way to provide the best situations for them.I have experience with high energy dogs (two grey hounds) and experience with younger/older dogs as well. I worked at a puppy store briefly where I administered medicine, food, and cleaned their cages hourly.
“Maddy had excellent communication and updates on Blanche. She is kind and caring; something you Look for when considering someone to care for beloved pet. Definitely will rebook in future. Thanks Maddy!”
“Very caring and great photos and communication! Andrew was so nice and we felt really good with him staying at our home and watch over Madi & Emma. We’ll definitely book with Andrew again. Thank you!!!”

“Such a. Calming influence. She also projects confidence & capability. Our 2 dogs cozied right up to her to watch TV & relax after she took both at once for a walk, at our meet & greet. We felt so comfortable knowing we could be out of state & not worry about our furry kids! TU Kayla❣️”

“We were very comfortable leaving Hemi with Jennifer. We received updates daily and appreciated her positive attitude even though Hemi had stomach issues while we were gone. I would book Jennifer again and highly recommend. Thanks Jennifer!”

“Aurora was awesome taking care of my 16 year old Chihuahua that is battling cancer and some eye problems, along with our foster pup who can be a handful. They both warmed up to her right away and loved her, she followed instructions for all of their medications and eyedrops to a T.”

“Abbey was awesome! She stayed in our home for a weekend and took great care of our pups and house. She was very respectful and left our house exactly how we left it. She sent pictures throughout the weekend and gave updates! Abbey took great care of our pups. Highly recommend!”

“Paris was an absolute God send; she took amazing care of my babies and house and sent multiple pictures every day so I could see them. I could see that my animals all loved her and enjoyed her visits. I will absolutely book her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great pet sitter!”

“Miranda did a great job sitting for our two dogs and was very patient with the health issues of my elderly dog Max. She was very good about texting me whenever she had questions about his care, as he had a number of problems that cropped up, and was proactive in finding ways to entice him to voluntarily take his meds when he was unwilling. Would definitely hire her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Northville
We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our dog Bruiser. He’s usually pretty wary of strangers, but he warmed up to Kelsey right away when she came for the meet and greet. Throughout our trip, she sent regular photos and updates, which put our minds at ease about leaving him home alone for the first time. Besides taking great care of Bruiser, she went above and beyond with the house — bringing in the mail, taking out the trash, and leaving everything spotless when we got back. We’d trust Kelsey with Bruiser again in a heartbeat and can’t recommend her highly enough!

I'm very pleased at my experience this time. Chloe was a wonderful, responsible young lady. I was impressed how she did with my instructions. At times they were confusing and at other times way too lengthy She figured everything. She said she left the house just as it was when we left, a big mess but it was our mesd i should have told her, Id hive her extra to clean 😊, oh well i would recommend her highly. Thank you

Absolutely Amazing!!!!! I could not recommend Jennifer enough. Her love and care for my two dogs was out of this world. They were sad to see her leave and cant wait to have their new play friend back. She took such great care of my home as well and went over and beyond. Avery really went above and beyond for us. She spent so much time at our house with the animals- playing and walking them. She was always quick to respond or send picture requests. We ended up having to stay on a vacation for an extra day and a half and she just made it work. We are so thankful for her!

Charles took good care of our dogs, He was not fazed at the initial meet & greet when our younger but larger dog was quite excited and jumpy. He arrived on time and provided creatively silly updates on our pups. We would definitely like to book his services again.

Kegan was AMAZING!!! She was so loving and caring! She came over twice (and took notes) before we left town to be sure she knew everything that was needed for our precious dog. When our dog got sick, she rushed him to emergency and stayed with him the entire time. She also stayed in constant contact with us. We love that she was able to bring her daughter here to give our doggie some extra loving, and she sent us wonderful pictures. There is no doubt in my mind that Kegan is the BEST!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Northville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Northville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Northville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northville. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
