“My dogs are slow to warm up to strangers but based on the original meet and greet, how they acted when Rohit returned to dog sit, and the videos he sent, they did relax and warm up to him. I love that they were comfortable around him and he sent pictures showing they were eating, which my dogs often won’t do when not comfortable around someone.”

“I'm very pleased at my experience this time. Chloe was a wonderful, responsible young lady. I was impressed how she did with my instructions. At times they were confusing and at other times way too lengthy She figured everything. She said she left the house just as it was when we left, a big mess but it was our mesd i should have told her, Id hive her extra to clean 😊, oh well i would recommend her highly. Thank you”

“Shiyuan was the best dog sitter i ever met! She sent every hour updates and my dogs loved her! You can really trust her with dogs! She takes good notes for dog’s routine and follow the directions. Will definitely hire for my upcoming trips.”

“Cammi stayed at our home and watched our bulldog for 4 days, and she was excellent! We came back to a clean home and a happy dog. Would have her back in a heartbeat!”

“Nick was fantastic!!! He came through for us when we were in a last-minute pinch when another sitter cancelled on us unexpectedly. He was immediately available for a meet and greet, extremely well-prepared, and communicative throughout the entire stay. Our dog was the happiest camper and our home was spotless upon returning. We will definitely be reaching out to Nick again and we’re incredibly grateful for his care!”

“This was our third time using megan and we love her. Very efficient, always on time, sends lots of photos and the animals love her! Would recommend for any future animal sitting you need!”

About: I love animals of all kinds...cats, dogs, horses, lizards, reptiles. I grew up around large dog breeds and spent my childhood taking horseback riding lessons and playing in frog hollers. Now I have a cat of my own and would love to spend my summers off helping you with pet care, too. As a teacher, it is a joy to have summers off, and so much of my week has lots of leisurely free time. I'm available most weekdays until around 7pm. During the school year, I'd love to end my work day taking your furry friend out for a walk or stopping by to check in on them! Growing up around large dog breeds my whole life, I'm comfortable with dogs of all kinds. With a family member who works in vet medicine, I have some knowledge of pet care and pet health; including training, grooming, and dog-walking safety, and understanding pet behaviors. I also have previous experience pet sitting for friends and family, including varying feeding times and administering medications to pets. Pet safety has always been very important to me, so I always make sure my pets' vaccines are up to date, and I never let my cat out to roam outside. Dogs are always leashed, unless they are in their own private yard. I be sure to look out for other pets and animals while out to make sure everyone stays safe. I'm now so lucky to have a cat of my own who rules the house, loving all the attention in the world from her mom and dad. She loves treats and pets, and bird watching from the window. While my space is quite small for any boarding, I'd love to help you care for your furry friend by taking them on walks or helping out at home while you're away. Of course, with lots of treats to share!
“Rebekkah was amazing with Tucker. We had some very serious health issues occur while she was sitting for him, and she handled everything with kindness, grace, and professionalism. Her communication was great. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“Sarah took such amazing care of our dog, two cats, and home while we were out of town. She provided picture updates throughout the day. I didn’t have to worry at all about my babies while we were gone. Her communication was top notch. I will definitely use Sarah again!”

“I reached out to Alex to watch my pup on very short notice. Not only did she respond quickly, but came to visit a day prior to my departure to get to know Bailey before I was to leave early the following morning. My pup has significant anxiety, but from the moment Alex walked in she was at ease. Alex provided pictures and updates throughout her stay. Recommend her highly!”

“We were very comfortable leaving Hemi with Jennifer. We received updates daily and appreciated her positive attitude even though Hemi had stomach issues while we were gone. I would book Jennifer again and highly recommend. Thanks Jennifer!”

“Emily is fantastic! She took excellent care of our dogs and was the perfect houseguest. Our dogs were happy, well exercised, and well fed when we got home. She knows so much about dogs, she even gave me some great tips on training our puppy! 10/10 we will be asking Emily for help again with our dogs!”

“Cheyenne was great! She sent pics and videos throughout her stay updating me about Jenny and Cody. Prior to our vacation, Cheyenne came over to meet the dogs and they both absolutely loved her. She was so sweet with them. We knew they were going to be in great hands, and they absolutely were! We will definitely book Cheyenne again and highly recommend her!”
About: I’ve done several years of volunteer work at humane societies including the Paws n Claws Animal Shelter in Rochester, MN and the Berman Animal Center in Westland, MI, walking and socializing with dogs of all sorts of sizes and age groups. I have also had experience dogsitting quite a few times for friends, including once when watching three dogs at once successfully. I am a newly self-employed jack-of-all-trades with a first come, first serve schedule. The only times I’ll need to leave the house is for evenings when I have sports or performances, but I can gladly accommodate your schedule; I am very flexible! While my golden retriever lives with my parents and I have looked after him on my own several times, we keep our dog on a leash at all times and always keep an eye out on him. Pets in my house will have as much of my undivided attention as possible and will make sure they are taken care of and entertained and loved!
“Brit did an excellent job keeping us up to date with our dogs and cat (three large dogs and one cat) while we were out of town for four nights. All of the animals seems to really take to her when we first met and they were disappointed to see her leave. They got so much attention! I’d hire Brit again in a heartbeat.”
The median cost per night for house sitting in Farmington is $50

Nick was everything I had hoped for. Leaving my older dog for 10 days was a really hard decision for me; she had only been left with family for a day or two. Nick was professional and respectful which is great but most important of all, he treated my girl with kindness and caring. We came home to a house that had been cared for and a very happy, relaxed pup. Thanks so much Nick, you were great!

Karin took great care of our two huskies while we were away. She sent daily updates with photos, communicated promptly when one of our dogs was acting out of character to get our guidance, handled our younger, higher-energy dog’s behavior appropriately, and even offered to stop by again if our travel home was delayed. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups and would definitely book with her again! ☺️

Sarah took great care of our fairly high needs senior dog while we were away for a week. I was hesitant to leave our dog at her age (17ish), but it worked out better than I could have dared to hope! Sarah was extremely responsive and her daily updates were very reassuring. She also left the house spotless and took care of things like our mail and garbage. Cannot recommend her enough!

Taylor took care of our dogs and our home for over a week while we were away, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She kept in regular contact, sending updates and photos that made it easy to relax knowing everything was going well. It was clear she spent real quality time with the dogs, not just stopping by for the basics. They were happy, well cared for, and completely comfortable when we got back. Our house was also in great shape, which we really appreciated. I would absolutely recommend Taylor to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive pet sitter, and we’ll definitely be booking her again in the future.

Tyra was absolutely wonderful with our Australian Shepherd, Guster, and our two cats, Cece and Ted. She stayed at our home for the weekend, and we came back to happy pets and a spotless house. Guster can be high‑energy, but Tyra handled him with so much patience and enthusiasm. She also made sure Cece and Ted got plenty of attention, which is no small task with two very different cat personalities. Her communication was excellent—regular updates, photos, and quick responses. We felt completely at ease the entire time we were away. We would trust Tyra with our pets and our home anytime. Highly recommend.

Rohit has pretty much become Rocco and Lilo's favorite person! We have never been away from them without feeling guilty, until having him stay with them. They were happy and well cared for and the pictures he sent were so good for our hearts. I hesitate to tell you all how wonderful he is, because we want to hog him;)

Brit just finished house sitting and caring for our elderly cat. As usual, she did a fantastic job - administering meds, and adjusting to our cat's unusual sleep habits and otherwise odd routines. Brit and Isaiah left our house cleaner than when we left it, too!

Alexandra was absolutely wonderful!! She took excellent care of George. She sent us photos everyday which we really appreciated! She made George’s day by giving him a daily walk. She stepped up when he needed some extra care after a medical procedure. She also took great care of our home. We would love to have Alexandra again and would highly recommend her.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Farmington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Farmington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Farmington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
