“Grace is awesome! Took great care of Daisy on very short notice. Was professional and kept a good eye on Daisy and kept her active with lots of photos. Can’t recommend Grace highly enough!!”

About: Well I've always lived in a home with a dog. I started taking care of dogs when I was six years old because my mom felt it was a great way to develop responsibility. Furthermore I was an only child so having a dog present makes up for the time alone. However I always watched my family members dogs often beginning at the age of ten. My family saw how responsible I was with my pet and how I admire dogs so they decided to offer me extra allowance when I watched over their dogs starting at that age (10). Later when I turned 14 and attended high school I wrote an essay about my first dogs which were two Dalmations and everyone loved it and discovered my pet sitting history with my family's dogs so it transitioned to me officially pet sitting other dogs. This helped a lot because I played sports year round in high school making it hard to find a job that would hire temporarily. My mom informed me of this site and I thought it would great to join rover and take on this golden and fun opportunity. Work isn't work when you love what you're doing.
“Jennifer was awesome and I would highly recommend her to watch your pets. We hired her for a 5 day/4 night engagement to watch our moderate energy 5 year old Bernese mountain dog. She sent pics and texts a few times a day which eased my mind! He got plenty of walks and love. Jennifer approaches this form a business owner perspective and even had a PDF “Pet and House Guide” for me to fill out ahead of time that thought of all the random pet and house info so I didn’t have to stress about what to leave notes about. In addition to all this, Jennifer even ran the dishwasher and laundry before she left. Your pets and home will be well cared for with Jennifer!”

“Brea did a great watching our three dogs while we were out of town. In addition to that, our furnace had broke, and Brea took on extra duties of keeping our pups warm and the house, too. Now that the dogs know her, we will have again to watch the dogs.”

“I will DEFINITELY use Josiah as often as possible! He followed all my instructions and my dog absolutely loved him. My beagle suffers from separation anxiety, and it's hard to find someone who not only compassionately understands his needs, but also with whom my dog feels comfortable and secure! When I arrived home, my dog was sleeping at Josiah's side. I think I finally found a perfect match!”

About: I have always loved animals since I was a young age. I have had two dogs and have one currently who is three years old! I have taken care of many animals before, and I love spoiling them. I will send pictures and keep in constant contact with owner. Some requirements I have when boarding with me is the dog must be house trained, and get along with other dogs and kids. I will be attending Eastern Michigan this fall, but only communing on Mondays and Wednesdays! Other then that I am pretty flexabele and open and can work around those days I do not have a fenced in yard but I do have a lead rope for the dogs to go out out or need be I can take them out on a leach. In my clients home I would take care of the dogs just as they would.
“Nick was great! He sent a number of updates and a few pictures, which was really helpful. I always want to know that our sweet Mischa is being taken care of, and I have no question that Nick did a great job. And as an added bonus, he left the house even neater than he found it!”

“Judy provided great communication the entire trip and ensured my dog got the correct medications. She left the house clean and it gave me peace of mind knowing Judy was at home with my dog.”

“Amy was absolutely lovely. She took such great care of our pups and our house. The dogs loved her. She also brought in our packages that were delivered! She sent pics throughout her stay which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Amy and will be using her services again!”

About: I have 10 years of pet sitting experience and have constantly been around dogs throughout my life with the families I've worked with. I enjoy being around pets and would love to take care of yours! I have a 4 year old Pomeranian-Poodle and a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles-Bichon Frise who are such a joy and full of energy. I enjoy taking them on walks and playing fetch in our fenced backyard. We don’t have any kids but we treat our dogs as if they were our own children and will do the same with your fur baby! I am very reliable and look forward to giving your pet the love and attention they deserve! I will keep you updated on every visit and send you pictures.
“Pavlina was amazing!! She took great care of Bodi and our home, and we look forward to booking here in the future. Bodi says, "Thank you" for taking such good care of him.”

“Christina is FANTASTIC. She took great care of our babies and sent us updates with photos and videos, and left the house pristine. She was extremely flexible and accommodating when we had a last minute change to our trip. I will definitely use her again!”

“We had a good experience with Lauren for overnight with our 2 dogs and 1 cat. I can only say I wish there were a few more updates throughout, but absolutely no issues. Thank you, Lauren”

“Rebekkah was amazing with Tucker. We had some very serious health issues occur while she was sitting for him, and she handled everything with kindness, grace, and professionalism. Her communication was great. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

About: I have had dogs in my life for many years now! I adore dogs. My family has own three goldens, one German Shepard, and one black lab! I’ve cared for them my whole life, including feeding, bathing, playing with them, working on training, etc. I work part-time until school starts in the fall. I have tons of time to see and play with your babies! I have my own form of transportation so I’m accessible at all times of the day! I will always make sure to ask questions when I’m not sure on something because I know how nerve racking it can be to leave your baby with someone you don’t know. I will also always double check any instructions to make sure I’m doing things perfectly to ensure nothing goes wrong. I am always up for playing with them and cuddling whenever they allow me to.
“We’ve had several drop in visits and one overnight stay with Lyle. He took excellent care of our two dogs and cat - very good communication, met all of our expectations, and our pets are slowly getting used to him, helped by his experience in dealing with different pet personalities. Very highly recommend!”

“I reached out to Alex to watch my pup on very short notice. Not only did she respond quickly, but came to visit a day prior to my departure to get to know Bailey before I was to leave early the following morning. My pup has significant anxiety, but from the moment Alex walked in she was at ease. Alex provided pictures and updates throughout her stay. Recommend her highly!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Walled Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Walled Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Walled Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
