“Betsy is so good with my critters! She really goes above and beyond, providing them with love and exercise that they need when I'm not home. I hope she can continue to help us out far into the future!”
“Great experience! Alyssa took care of our two kittens while we were out of town for a couple of days and everything went smoothly. Both kittens seemed extremely happy and the updates were great.”

“Courtney is the best. She provided detailed, descriptive and humorous updates of my three cats and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and comfortable including opening doors for them to look outside, brushing, feeding special wet food and treats, and playing with a laser pointer. She also watered my plans and collected my mail. She is simply the best. Will always hire her because I trust her implicitly with my girls and I feel comfortable while traveling when I miss them so much.”

“Melissa is such a wonderful person! Always send updates with pictures of your pet. She was so amazing when I had to make last-minute changes due to a business meeting. I will definitely keep her as a retainer!”

About: I grew up with a golden retriever named Hailey, and when I was younger I helped my mom foster care for various puppies and cats. I am available weekdays during the summer. I am a 6 ft broad shouldered guy, so I can handle any dogs you throw at me. I have always loved animals, especially dogs. I gaurentee your dog will get a ton of positive attention, and physical activity if need be! Hope to meet tons of cool dogs! Currently doing Rover work as a summer job while I go to school for engineering! Available most weekdays and some weekends. Have a dog of my own but my parents treat him like a grandchild so I have plenty of time for Rover. Have plenty of experience with high anxiety/elder dogs as well as dogs with special needs such as diabetes who need injections through my sister's dog as well as some neighbors! One such dog usually hates people who aren't his owner but I wore him down and now he loves me! She is always shocked at how he reacts when he sees me, usually he barks and snarls at most people/other dogs but he's all cuddles when I come by. My sister's dog is high anxiety and hates most men but of course not me because Im special. (jk just great with dogs!)
About: I have spent my whole life growing up with pets and love spending time with dogs and cats alike. I live an active lifestyle and love taking long walks, especially with a canine companion! I have experience walking dogs from animals shelters so so have worked with dogs with a variety of temperaments. I am working part time for the summer so I have time available throughout the week to go on walks or stop by and say hi to pets. I will not be able to care for pets in my home because I live in a small apartment and do not have sufficient space.
“Elayna is great! She helped us out last minute with a drop-in and even squeezed in a quick meet and greet first. She was kind and communicative. Would definitely use Elayna as a sitter again!”

“She is so trustworthy and caring. Even in bad weather, she still came and took care of our cat, and was always very responsible. We know our car loves her, and we truly couldn’t ask for a better person. We would highly recommend her.”

“Cadence did a wonderful job taking care of our 14lb Havanese dog. She was punctual, communicative, took him on walks and sent frequent picture updates. We will absolutely hire her again! 5/5.”

“Katharyn was great. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a cat sitter. She took care of the essentials and played and petted Humphrey. I hope she can come back!”

About: I have owned several dogs and cats and have been responsible for caring for them for the past 10 years. I grew up on a farm, so I have experience with pigs, sheep, goats, and some horses. I also watch dogs and cats for family friends, and I love all animals! I have a hybrid work schedule and typically from home 3 days a week. I am happy to care for animals in the mornings and afternoons when I go into the office (typically 9am-4pm) and throughout the day when I work from home. I walk my dogs with leashes, and they are crate trained for the night. However, I also have experience with dogs who are trained with shock/recall collars and dogs who don’t use crates. I am comfortable with litter boxes for cats, and have no problems keeping them clean.

About: I've grown up with dogs since I was a child, and have helped care for all of my family's dogs, including walking, feeding, and dog sitting for them. My parents currently have a rescue dog, who is more skittish and requires additional consideration when I've cared for her. I've also dog sat for neighbors while in high school and college, as well as dog and cat sat for co-workers through the years. I currently work in education, so I have the summers off, and have lots of time for pet care. I also currently have two cats, one is a rescue and took a lot more time to feel comfortable in our home, and the other I've raised from the time he was a kitten. I will give your dogs the same care and concern I've given my own pets. I currently work in education and have summers off, so I have lots of availability, including morning, afternoon, and evening, for pet care. I live locally and can easily get to most neighborhoods nearby. I can come to your home, walk your dog, do a play drop in, and sit with your dog and/or cat indoors or outdoors, depending on what they like!
About: I've been caring for pets my whole life, and have been a trusted sitter for family and friends for many years. I've also been a volunteer for the Humane Society since 2019, helping socialize and train some of the most challenging shelter dogs and cats. I have experience with large and xl dogs, senior animals, and puppies and kittens 8 weeks and older. I grew up in a family that adopted all sorts of pets, from dogs and cats to guinea pigs, horses, parakeets, and one very majestic iguana. While I don't currently have any pets since my last elderly fur baby crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I look forward to adopting again in the future from a rescue organization. I'm a freelance grant writer, which means lots of flexibility to meet your scheduling needs. I can do drop-in visits and overnights at your home, and will happily send you as many photos as you like. Your trust and your fur baby's well being are my top priorities. I always make sure to follow any instructions or rules you have for your home and pets.

About: I've personally cared for multiple dogs and cats for most of my life. I've most recently provided in-home care for a number of pets on Trusted Housesitters along with my partner for the past three years. We have received consistent five-star reviews from pet owners. I've also cared for my own two small dogs, and am comfortable managing daily routines, exercise, and behavioral cues. Most recently, I've supported a senior cat with health issues during an acute period providing attentive monitoring and calm, consistent care. I have a flexible schedule allowing me to be present for walks, daily care, and lots of one on one attention on a regular basis. I live on a quiet two-acre country property with open space and low traffic dirt roads. The yard is not fenced so dogs are always supervised outdoors and kept on a leash for walks.

“This was our first time using Rover! We wanted an animal lover, and we needed someone we felt we could trust like family — Emily was just that. She met our two dachshunds and our two siamese cats at our meet and greet, and we knew she was a true animal lover. For this past trip, she looked after our two siamese cats for a week and even managed to earn the approval of our very territorial female siamese (few have done — even family members). She went above and beyond giving them the attention each of them needed based on their unique personalities, and gave us updates with every visit. It was such a relief knowing Emily was looking after our kitties and we didn’t have to worry about how they were doing. We hope to book her for our next trip!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Scio
I was unexpectedly out of town for considerably longer than I had expected. Julie was willing to extend her commitment several times, and took care of everything my animals needed in my absence. She gave me a heads up when supplies were running low-in plenty of time for me to reorder, and helped with some house winterization with temperatures changed. Julie is reliable and consistent. I highly recommend her.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
