“Liana took good care of my dog and cat. She was really proactive with communication and would respond anytime I reached out. She sent really cute pictures that clearly showcased their personalities so I could tell they were comfortable. My house was in perfect shape when I got home.”

“Absolutely amazing. Aech’s communication is outstanding . I could see my dog was happy calm and content both from the photo updates and when I got home. Highly recommend and would love to work with again”

“We were hesitant to leave our senior dog with someone new, but after meeting Lilian, we were immediately at ease. She didn’t bat an eye at my extremely lengthy instructions and sent lots of photos and videos. Our sweet girl takes some extra care and patience and we are so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. Our furnace went out the day before we returned and she handled it all without a glitch (despite a freezing cold house). We feel lucky to have found Lillian!”

“I cannot thank River enough for accepting my last minute request. I am from out of town and she quickly responded with a yes. To me that’s going above and beyond my expectations of a dog sitter. River kept me informed on how they were doing and sent pictures. My dogs were well taken cared of. If I’m back in Santa Cruz and in need of a sitter, I know who I’ll be reaching out to.”

“Morgan was fantastic with our pets! He kept me well-informed, and asked how much contact and how many pictures I wanted while we were away. He was very communicative and so loving towards our animals. The house was in great shape, better than when we left. He was very respectful towards the animals, the house, everything. Our pets were calm and happy when we returned. I would absolutely book him again! Thank you Morgan!”

“Jeff is an excellent pet sitter. They took lots of care and made sure the dogs and cat were well looked after. They left our house very tidy and clean. Will definitely be booking with them again.”

About: I've been around dogs my whole life and have cared for everything from 10-pound lap dogs to 100-pound giants. I also cared for my own senior dog for the last three years of her life, so I'm comfortable giving medications and providing the extra patience and attention older pets need. I also have a young cat named Annie and have experience caring for foster cats. In my free time, I volunteer with a local animal rescue, where I work with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or just wants someone to keep them company, I'm happy to adapt to what makes them happiest. I am currently looking for a new full time job so I have plenty of time to devote to different types of pet care at the moment! I treat every pet like they're my own and try to stick as closely as possible to their normal routine. I'll follow your instructions for feeding, walks, medications, playtime, and any other care they need. I know every pet has a different personality, so whether they want to play, explore, or just curl up on the couch, I'm happy to meet them where they're comfortable. I'll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages so you know how they're doing while you're away.

“Kourosh is ery responsive and easy to work with. It was great having someone who is willing to stay overnight with my disabled, senior dog at a reasonable rate. It gets very expensive given I cannot board her so I really appreciate the peace of mind of having somebody in my home I can trust and who has patience with older dogs.”

“Samantha was AMAZING!! From our meet and greet on my dogs were in love with her. She was so great about sending updates and it was clear in her photos that they both loved her so much. Our house was also well taken care of! We will 100% be using her again.”

“Yuliia stayed with Rosie for 2 weeks while I was out of town. She was absolutely fantastic. Rosie got lots of walks, spent many nights relaxing on the couch with Yuliia and we got lots of pictures. She also left the house cleaner than I think it was when I left. I would absolutely recommend her for anyone looking for a sitter.”

“Jennifer is great! Followed instructions and provided consistent updates. Super patient and attentive to my dog’s needs. I’m really excited to have found another reliable sitter.”

“Todd was great with our dogs for an overnight! We don’t travel without the dogs very often and it’s hard finding someone new, Todd was very easy going and dependable and made sure our dogs and home were well looked after. And on a holiday no less. Thank you Todd!”

“Ross was perfect for us and our 8-month-old puppy. Kind, thoughtful, good communication. First time taking care of Sesame while we were gone and he did a great job. Would recommend him any time and looking forward to having him watch over our puppy in the future.”

About: I truly enjoy spending time with dogs and caring for them with patience, warmth, and attention. I have several years of hands-on experience with dogs, including experience as a dog owner, caring for other people’s dogs, and caring for a puppy. I’m also comfortable giving medications when needed. I understand that every dog is different and has their own routine, personality, and comfort level. I always do my best to make dogs feel safe, calm, and cared for through loving attention, consistency, and gentle care. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time, attention, and care to the pets I look after. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits and pet sitting, and I do my best to keep each pet on their usual routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I believe it’s very important to follow each owner’s instructions, routines, and usual way of caring for their dog. I’m very attentive to those details because they help pets feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable. I want each dog to feel not only well cared for, but also to have a sense of familiarity and home-like comfort while you’re away.
About: I've had experience with dogs since I was 8 years old. My childhood dog, a golden retriever named Kellsey, lived to be 14 years old and I was involved with everything having to do with her care. I now have a 6 year old goldendoodle who I have raised since he was a puppy. I can't wait to meet your pup and give them the same love and care that I give my own! I am also extremely detail-oriented and follow directions well - if you include it, it will absolutely get done! I work remotely and have a flexible work schedule so am able to take time out to visit or walk your pet. For walks, I will also have my dog (40 lb goldendoodle) with me - pack walks are the best! I take safety and trust very seriously and want all clients to feel comfortable. I walk my own dog everyday and am familiar with how to have a fun and safe walk! For drop-in visits, I will make sure to follow all instructions so you feel confident in the care your dog or cat is getting.
About: Growing up, I've always had not just one, but multiple pets around the house to help take care of. From birds, fish, rabbits, and of course cats and dogs, I have experience giving care to different types of pets from a bottle feeding age to seniors as well. I have a passion for animals and treat other pets much like they are my own. My wife and I currently care for 2 dogs and 2 cats. One of our late, but always loved, dogs required additional attention with daily medication and regular trips to an oncologist because of his lymphoma, so I can reassure your loved ones with the same type of care if they need it as well. Having attended many training lessons for dogs, I can also provide reinforcement to any training for your pets. I'm looking forward to connecting and helping as much as I can! Since I'm a real estate agent, my schedule is flexible and any unavailable times will be reflected on my Rover calendar. I'm able to do a lot of work on the computer and meetings in-person are scheduled ahead of time which will not interfere with the care that I agree to provide. For every Pet Sitting, Walking, or Drop-In visit, I'm happy to and prefer to keep the same routine you would provide to your loved ones. Much like my own, I'm happy to administer daily medication, help take trips to the vet/appointments, prepare special diets, and get much needed exercise. We can also work together to freestyle how you'd like your pet to be cared for and I can provide recommendations that my pets enjoy as well. The most important aspects are your loved ones being safe and comfortable as well as your peace of mind intact.

Jonathan was great. Very easy to communicate with and flexible. So many pictures. He provided wonderful homemade treats! Pepper had a really nice time hanging out with him and his dog and a few other furry friends too. We will definitely use Jonathan again when next in town.

Kay was incredible with the dogs. They both LOVED her. She was communicative and attentive to their needs. She was able to administer medication to one of my dogs and care for him while he’s injured, and she’s did a great job with my more dog-reactive pup. She was also respectful of our home. We (and the dogs) can’t wait to have her look after them again!

Jennifer is awesome! She recently dog sat for me for 2.5 weeks. My dog is slow to open up to new people, which can make me concerned about leaving him with someone new. But Jennifer took my dog’s quirks in stride. Her calm, cool, and collected demeanor gave me instant confidence that she and my dog would be just fine while I was away. On top of being so good with my dog, Jennifer kept me up-to-speed with daily check ins and pictures, and left my house clean and tidy when I returned from my trip. Overall 10/10 I highly recommend Jennifer and will be a repeat customer!

Brennen was fantastic with my two dogs. I received daily updates and photos for my large German Shepard mix and my little terrier mix 7 month old puppy. Upon returning home after over a week away our house was cleaner than when we left it, even the sheets and towels were washed. And more importantly, I know my dogs were well taken care of and I pretty sure they miss him. Highly recommend him to everyone! Thanks Brennen!

Fidana stayed with and watched our two dogs in our home for a long weekend and was awesome! This was our second time booking her, and since our first booking was a much shorter stay, it was great to have her with the dogs for a few days this time. She sent us lots of cute videos and updates, which we loved, and was really attentive to our care guide and the routines and systems we have in place for the dogs. It was nice knowing their day-to-day care was mirroring what they’re used to when we’re home. She also left our house in beautiful shape. We’d absolutely have her watch the dogs again. Thanks so much, Fidana!

Nina is hands down the best sitter on this app and the best sitter I’ve had! She did “house sitting” for my 1 year old cat while I was away, and was so thoughtful in everything she did. She’s kind, funny, and clearly loves animals. She also provides you with updates the entire time you’re away, and follows instructions / preferences perfectly! Plus, when I returned home after my week long trip, it was even cleaner than I left it. I’m 100% going to continue booking her!
Morgan was fantastic with our pets! Thank you Morgan!
Mark is awesome - he had walked Roxy before but this was the first time he pet sat and he stayed at our house taking care of her for 10 days while we were in Japan. We got tons of pictures showing how happy she was (it was very obvious in the pictures), he was super responsible in taking care of the house, all communication was excellent, and we felt really good about how everything was going at home. That peace of mind while on vacation was really important. Would absolutely recommend Mark to anyone!

Brittany was absolutely amazing! This was her first Rover booking, and she exceeded every expectation. She is incredibly enthusiastic, conscientious, and genuinely adores animals. It was so comforting to know our dogs were with someone who truly loves spending time with them—and I honestly think she missed them when she wasn’t with them! She kept us updated with tons of photos and videos, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. She was also extremely responsive to every text and phone call, making communication effortless. I couldn’t recommend Brittany more highly. She treated our dogs like they were her own, and we’ll absolutely be using her again and again. If you’re looking for someone who is caring, reliable, attentive, and truly passionate about animals, Brittany is the one!
Ashley stayed with our dog Obi for two weeks. He seemed happy and settled with her, and he was in good shape when we got back. She sent updates regularly, which made being away easier. She was also easy to have in the house and left things tidy. We would definitely book her again.

Nadya will always be my go-to cat sitter. My cat loves her, and so do I. She is absolutely dependable, and she’s also accommodating to the unexpected changes associated with travel these days. She willingly stayed late last night when I had a flight canceled and another delayed, and I was so very grateful for the peace of mind that afforded me. She is the best!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Venice on Rover is $65.49 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 13,503 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Venice. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Venice walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Venice maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Venice choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Venice. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
