“Noa was so professional, friendly, and kind. She was able to manage our apartment and all animals were well cared for. This was the first time leaving our dogs with someone and so happy we found Noa. We will definitely be using her again!”

“The BEST! Margaret has been the absolute best sitter we have ever had. She takes care of 3 challenging fur babies while we are away and updates us daily. When we get home everything has been taken care of. If anything gets soiled, she has cleaned it and has made sure everyone is happy and healthy.”

“Aech was so amazing with my two dogs for a weekend stay. One of my dogs was sick and Aech was incredibly communicative about her symptoms. It can be a scary situation for a pet parent and Aech made me feel so at ease. I can tell the girls were well loved and cared for.”

“Ross was perfect for us and our 8-month-old puppy. Kind, thoughtful, good communication. First time taking care of Sesame while we were gone and he did a great job. Would recommend him any time and looking forward to having him watch over our puppy in the future.”

“We booked Nicholle for a one-night stay with our pups and really appreciated that she was available last-minute! She sent plenty of photo updates and kept us in the loop, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Thanks again for helping out on short notice!”

About: I have been surrounded by animals since childhood. I grew up in Colombia helping my grandmother on her farm, where I cared for dogs, cats, chickens, horses, pigs, and cows. That experience taught me respect, patience, and love for animals of all kinds. My strongest experience is with dogs. I have been caring for my own Pomeranian for over 11 years, and for the past 2 years I have also provided paid pet care for my friend’s dogs. I have experience with puppies as young as 5 months old, as well as senior dogs. One of the most meaningful experiences in my life was caring for my friend’s 13-year-old dog, Layla, during her final days while she was battling liver cancer. Being able to support her with love, comfort, and close attention reinforced my commitment to compassionate pet care. I currently work as a bookkeeper, mostly from home, which allows me to organize my schedule flexibly. This makes it easy for me to provide attentive pet sitting, boarding, and companionship during the day. I generally prefer pet sitting in the owner’s home, but I am also open to short stays in my home, such as weekends, depending on the situation. Longer stays can be discussed if needed. I believe pets are family, and I treat them with the same love and respect I give my own dog. I enjoy talking to dogs, keeping them company, and making sure they feel safe and emotionally comfortable, especially in new environments. I carefully follow all instructions provided by the owner, including feeding routines, medication, walking schedules, and special needs. Regarding food, I prefer to feed pets only the food provided by the owner. If authorized, I am happy to prepare or purchase food following the owner’s exact instructions. I pay close attention to each dog’s condition, preferences, and sensitivities. Dogs in my care are never left unattended. Owners are welcome to bring their dog’s favorite toys, bed, or blanket to help them feel at home. With owner approval, I also enjoy taking dogs to nearby parks so they can enjoy fresh air and gentle exercise.
About: My love for pets began from an early age. My room was resembled a zoo by the time I was ten. Friends rely on me to look after their pets when they're away and I'm experienced with all types of animals and their required care. This is my primary business that I run with my girlfriend who is also available when necessary. I'm reachable 24/7 so owners can have some peace of mind while they're away and as much phone contact as they want. Three day minimum for house sitting please. I have a charming house with a large completely fenced in backyard and friendly neighbors who all have a variety of animals. Your pets will have full time attention and be very comfortable when boarding with me, my wife and two cats.
“Siena was able to accommodate my last minute house-sitting request and was great! Very communicative, sent lots of happy photos with my dog and made sure he was well taken care of (like putting on calming dog music on my TV for him before she left the house)!”

“Kourosh is ery responsive and easy to work with. It was great having someone who is willing to stay overnight with my disabled, senior dog at a reasonable rate. It gets very expensive given I cannot board her so I really appreciate the peace of mind of having somebody in my home I can trust and who has patience with older dogs.”

“Veronica took great care of my cat and my apartment. My cat seemed happy & relaxed, and Veronica even took the time to vacuum and wash the sheets. She sent me updates and pictures everyday, which made me feel reassured. I highly recommend Veronica and would book her again in the future.”

“Stephanie was great with our pups! She was super warm and attentive to them, and we came back to a clean home and happy content babies! Our puppy had to go potty every hour or so, and she followed our instructions and helped us put her down for her naps as well. Steph also gave us photos and updates throughout, which were greatly appreciated. Overall she did a great job, and even left soothing music playing when we came in!”

About: I truly enjoy spending time with dogs and caring for them with patience, warmth, and attention. I have several years of hands-on experience with dogs, including experience as a dog owner, caring for other people’s dogs, and caring for a puppy. I’m also comfortable giving medications when needed. I understand that every dog is different and has their own routine, personality, and comfort level. I always do my best to make dogs feel safe, calm, and cared for through loving attention, consistency, and gentle care. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time, attention, and care to the pets I look after. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits and pet sitting, and I do my best to keep each pet on their usual routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I believe it’s very important to follow each owner’s instructions, routines, and usual way of caring for their dog. I’m very attentive to those details because they help pets feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable. I want each dog to feel not only well cared for, but also to have a sense of familiarity and home-like comfort while you’re away.
“Samantha was very kind and responsive and was able to stay with Olive on short notice. She sent photos daily and Olive was just as happy upon our return as we left her. We would definitely book with her again!”

“I reached out to Heidi last minute in a panic to watch our dogs. She was very accommodating and was able to help. She arrived on time, asked a lot of great questions to be sure she was fully informed on our dogs, she sent photos while we were gone and texted updates throughout her 4 night stay. We have 2 large very energetic shepherds, so she had her hands full but she did an awesome job! Our pups usually bark their head off at strangers and they warmed up to her within minutes. I was nervous to use this service and leave my dogs with someone I didn’t know. However our fears were put to rest, we would recommend her and would reach out to her again for sure!”

“Carolina was the best pet sitter for my puppy Potato! I felt very comfortable in my home from the second I met her and my dog who is generally pretty shy warned right up to her and was comfortable the whole time I was gone. She gave her lots of love and patience and sent me lots of updates while I was gone which I appreciated because it was my first time leaving her overnight! I will definitely be using her again and recommend her to anyone!”

“Melia watched our two cats for a week while we were away and did an amazing job. She sent lots of photos and updates throughout the week, was a great houseguest, and even our shy guy was comfortable around her. We came home to two relaxed happy kitties, and will definitely use her again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Venice
My shy cat took to Janet very quickly, coming out to see Janet at the meet and greet, which my cat often does not do. Janet was careful to ensure she remembered all the details in caring for my cat, even taking notes. Janet was a great communicator, trustworthy, and sent me lots of good pics of my cat. I would definitely trust Janet to watch my cat again and I would recommend her to anyone.

Ashley was a GREAT sitter for our dog. Our dog has anxiety issues when we travel and does best with lots of attention to help her feel calm. She is on different heart medications and needs access to pee breaks. She is also uneasy around other dogs which requires extra attention on walks. Ashley handled all of this with genuine care. She followed all our requests and kept our house nice and tidy. She was responsive and communicative - responding right away and a wind is daily updates and pics. This was our first time using rover and we are thrilled that we met Ashley and finally have someone that can care for our special dog when we are away. Thank you, Ashley!

Isabella is a highly attentive and caring cat sitter.😺🐈 She took care of our little guy while we were away and house sit and he had a great time. She was great at keeping up with his various care needs. She's very responsible and highly recommend her for pet care!

Ross was perfect for us and our 8-month-old puppy. Kind, thoughtful, good communication. First time taking care of Sesame while we were gone and he did a great job. Would recommend him any time and looking forward to having him watch over our puppy in the future.

Jessica is kind and considerate, and wonderful with Nika. She overnighted in the house and was prompt, communicative and left everything nice and tidy. She’s also come over for a quick walk and some playtime with Nika - always on time and enthusiastic. These are the ingredients of a reliable Dogsitter. I recommend her for either scenario and will book her again.

Margaret is my first pet sitter to stay over and I'm so grateful that she made me and my animals have such a great experience. She sent me the cutest pictures throughout my trip. And told me funny stories of what they did so I was confident they were in trusting hands. She took care of my animals as if they were her own. And she played with them more than I do so I think they are really missing her. A real plus is that she is clean and respectful. I couldn't even tell someone stayed over. She actually left me a treat in my freezer which was so nice to come home to. Thank you Margaret! Thank you for being my go to! I'll be calling you again. :)

My husband and I hired Didi to watch our dog on our wedding day. She was absolutely amazing with him. She walked, fed, and drove him to and from the venue as requested. Didi ensured that Honey was well behaved during the ceremony and she even got him to pose for several pictures! 10/10 would rebook Didi for any occasion.

Robert stayed with Canela for 3 days while I was gone on a work trip. I came home to a happy and content dog! Robert was responsive and sent pictures sharing what she was up to. I knew she was in good hands and would 100% recommend Robert to stay at your house and watch your pup while you are traveling!

Samantha was so great with our new pug. It was our first time leaving him since adopting him and she made the experience so easy with her flexibility, patience, and constant communication. She sent us so many cute photos of moco throughout the day! We would definitely book again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Venice
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Venice on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 13,751 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Venice. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Venice walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Venice maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Venice choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Venice. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
