“Liana did such a great job being a sitter for my dog! Her calm demeanor and warmth made my dog comfortable with her instantly and feel safe with her in his space. She did a great job asking me questions and making sure she was informed on how best to care for my dog. Would definitely recommend her to anyone!”

“Noa was so professional, friendly, and kind. She was able to manage our apartment and all animals were well cared for. This was the first time leaving our dogs with someone and so happy we found Noa. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Natasia is a new sitter for us, and we tried her out with a couple of visits to our home before we went out of town for a few days last weekend, and she was everything we could have hoped for and more. We have two dogs, one of which is newer to our family, just over a year old and possessing a lot of energy. Natasia is not only a sweet and calm energetic presence, but she is also highly reliable, responsible and responsive with regard to messaging about our upcoming appointments, as well as wellbeing updates about the dogs. Most importantly, our dogs acted as though they were well cared for and loved in our absence. We highly recommend Natasia for any and all of your doggy needs :)”

“We were hesitant to leave our senior dog with someone new, but after meeting Lilian, we were immediately at ease. She didn’t bat an eye at my extremely lengthy instructions and sent lots of photos and videos. Our sweet girl takes some extra care and patience and we are so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. Our furnace went out the day before we returned and she handled it all without a glitch (despite a freezing cold house). We feel lucky to have found Lillian!”

“Yuliia stayed with Rosie for 2 weeks while I was out of town. She was absolutely fantastic. Rosie got lots of walks, spent many nights relaxing on the couch with Yuliia and we got lots of pictures. She also left the house cleaner than I think it was when I left. I would absolutely recommend her for anyone looking for a sitter.”

“Todd was great with our dogs for an overnight! We don’t travel without the dogs very often and it’s hard finding someone new, Todd was very easy going and dependable and made sure our dogs and home were well looked after. And on a holiday no less. Thank you Todd!”

About: I've had experience with dogs since I was 8 years old. My childhood dog, a golden retriever named Kellsey, lived to be 14 years old and I was involved with everything having to do with her care. I now have a 6 year old goldendoodle who I have raised since he was a puppy. I can't wait to meet your pup and give them the same love and care that I give my own! I am also extremely detail-oriented and follow directions well - if you include it, it will absolutely get done! I work remotely and have a flexible work schedule so am able to take time out to visit or walk your pet. For walks, I will also have my dog (40 lb goldendoodle) with me - pack walks are the best! I take safety and trust very seriously and want all clients to feel comfortable. I walk my own dog everyday and am familiar with how to have a fun and safe walk! For drop-in visits, I will make sure to follow all instructions so you feel confident in the care your dog or cat is getting.

“Amazing experience with Lynae. Very easy to communicate, received multiple picture updates and dogs seemed very happy. Thank you for taking care of my fur babies!! :)”

“Sam stayed at my home and looked after my 9 year old golden retriever for the night. When I returned, I found my place in impeccable condition, and he had taken excellent care of my pet. Sam followed instructions diligently and proved to be a trustworthy caregiver. I will certainly continue to rely on him to take care of my home and dogs.”

“Margaret was great! She took great care of our 2 pups! She was very attentive to all their needs, gave meds as instructed and communicated regularly. The pups were perfectly calm when we got home and our place was left neat and tidy! We look forward to having Margaret back again!”

About: After nine years in the corporate world at Google, I’ve stepped away to focus on my passions—with animals at the top of the list. My favorite workday moments were always the same: seeing dogs at the office or coming home to my own two. So, transitioning to professional pet care was a natural next step. I have extensive experience caring for dogs, cats, and even horses for friends, family, and colleagues. With me, your pet will be treated like a member of my family and, most importantly, receive the highest level of care. Weekday Availability: I am fully available Monday through Friday. Whether your pet needs a midday walk, a medication schedule, or consistent check-ins, I have the capacity to be there. Weekend Flexibility: I am available for the vast majority of weekends, so I am here to help when you have travel plans or just need a little extra support during your days off. Safety and comfort always come first, and that starts with understanding your pet and your routine. Because every pet is unique, I tailor my care to their specific needs and your instructions. You can always count on consistent updates with photos, and I am available to address any questions or concerns you may have.
“Karl and Sarah are amazing! Every time they take care of Dudley we are stress free because we know he is in wonderful hands! We can tell how much Dudley loves them. They are the BEST!”

About: It's been a lifetime with cats and dogs. I've had two cats by myself, Puck a long time ago, and more recently Stella, As a family we had a Brittany Spaniel called Mustard. When I lived with a housemate we had lovely mixed-breed dog Mimi. I've cared for my daughter's cat Bruce, now for her dog JJ, my son's dog Noodle, friends' and familys' cats and dogs, and even for chickens a few times. I love those friendly girls. I'm comfortable administering medications and have done it a lot. I'm a registered nurse so that helps. I'm only available for pet and house sits. I work from home and can walk a dog or play with a cat before and after work, and can take short breaks throughout the day as needed to care for your pets. I try as much as possible to care for your pets the way they are used to being cared for by you, in your home, as my schedule allows.
“Ivanti was a wonderful cat sitter! She sent regular updates with our kitties, and left the house pristine?❤️ we are grateful for Ivanti and will certainly be booking her again :)”

“Stephanie took very good care of our furry friends; three large doodles and two kitties. She stayed in our home for 5 days, and left the house clean and the sheets and towels washed as well! Very happy with her service.”

About: 🐾 About Me Dogs have been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. In high school, I helped raise my family’s Goldendoodle from puppyhood — learning firsthand what it takes to build trust, establish routines, and nurture a dog through every stage of growth. During my four years of college, I went on to foster six dogs over my 4 years at UCLA: four puppies and two adults - each with their own unique needs. Whether it was managing special diets, administering medications, or simply giving extra patience and love to a dog still finding their footing, I learned how to adapt and show up for every personality and situation. Over the years I’ve built experience across a wide range of breeds: from energetic Labs and loyal German Shepherds to golden retrievers, terriers, poodles, and everything in between. Big or small, high-energy or laid-back, I know how to read a dog and meet them where they are. Being based in Ocean Park/Santa Monica and having a flexible work schedule, I am able to be genuinely present, not just fitting walks in between errands, but actually looking forward to them. Getting outside, putting in miles along the beach, and spending real time with dogs is something I genuinely love. Your pup won’t just be getting exercise, they’ll be getting attention, care, and a walker who’s happy to be there. I treat every dog like my own. I’d love to meet yours. 🐶 I’m available for early morning walks before 9am, afternoon walks after 4pm, and have extended midday availability on Tuesdays and Fridays when I work from home. Please message me about weekend availability! My pets are my family and I recognize that these dogs are a member of someone else’s family. I treat them as such with love and respect just as if I were babysitting a human!
“Siena was able to accommodate my last minute house-sitting request and was great! Very communicative, sent lots of happy photos with my dog and made sure he was well taken care of (like putting on calming dog music on my TV for him before she left the house)!”

Jessa was an amazing sitter and look forward to working with her again! They were extremely communicative, helpful, and took amazing care of our babes. She was patient with our often grumpy chichi and gentle and loving with our senior cats. Thanks again for everything!

If I could give Nadya twice as many stars, I would. She is an amazing young woman, and the perfect cat sitter! I was gone for three weeks recently, and Nadya provided round-the-clock cat care for my little one in my condo. Her calm, low-key presence made my skittish kitty comfortable from the start, as evidenced by the photos Nadya sent of my cat on her back, offering her belly to Nadya in a show of trust. Nadya sent me photos and videos every day, giving me peace of mind. And when I returned home, my kitty appeared healthy and happy, and Nadya had left my home clean and tidy. She is a gem!

Laura was absolutely incredible while watching my two cats and housesitting for an entire week! She was so communicative and sent wonderful picture updates a couple of times every single day, which gave me total peace of mind. She was even incredibly sweet and understanding about my kittens being very early risers, even on the weekends. I came home to a super clean apartment and very happy cats. I would absolutely have Laura stay and watch my pets and place anytime. Highly recommend!

I had such a wonderful experience! She was attentive, communicative, and clearly cared about my pets. She sent thoughtful updates and plenty of pictures throughout the day. She actually got my kitten, Mookie, and my older cat, Toni, to play together! I came home to three happy, relaxed pets. I would absolutely trust her to watch them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their animals.

Omg Luke is the BEST! I’m a crazy dog mom and luke was so calm, sweet and kind with me and my dog. He was super communicative - definitely has become my go-to dog sitter forever now. Also he took amazing care of our house when we were gone - everything was spotless. Thank you, Luke! You’re the best ever and set the standard for Dogsitters!

What can I say about Sam. Upon meeting Sam for the first time I had a good feeling. Super professional, calm and kind. We had never hired someone to take care of our (very) needy, (terribly) grumpy dog so we were really nervous about how it would go. Usually our dog stays with family who already knows his deal. We didn’t know quite how to prepare someone new let alone what to ask. Sam was very patient and helped us through the process. After meeting Sam there was no doubt he would be our sitter. He was so sweet with our dog and the quirks we warned Sam about were no deterrent at all. His view on pet care, especially those in their golden years is very special. Speaks to the kind heart Sam has. We had a tight turn around between trips and Sam was very understanding and flexible (and didn’t I mention kind??) with us when dealing with logistics. Sam sent pictures of our dog and had great communication while we were away. I could tell our grouchy guy was in heaven from the updates despite our pup having to get eye drops which wasn’t a problem for Sam at all. Long story short, Sam is a lovely human who takes pride in what he does, truly cares about the animals in his care. No doubt would recommend Sam in a heartbeat and would use Sam again.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dorie! She took amazing care of our two Cavapoos, Waffles and Pancakes, while we were away, and we came home to two happy, relaxed dogs. She was incredibly communicative, sending regular updates and adorable photos that gave us complete peace of mind. Our home was also left spotless, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish. We wouldn't hesitate to book Dorie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Waffles and Pancakes—we're so grateful!

Carlyn and Lorenzo were absolutely fantastic! They took amazing care of our dog Maple and treated our home with so much care, including keeping our plants happy while we were away. We felt completely comfortable knowing Maple was in such great hands. They communicated clearly, sent regular updates, and it was clear that they genuinely enjoyed spending time with her. She was very happy and well cared for when I returned. They are wonderful people, and we would love to have them sit for Maple again in the future. We’ll definitely be reaching out for future trips and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, responsible, and trustworthy sitters!

Kay was a fantastic house and dog sitter. We were away for a week, and she took wonderful care of our two dogs. It was clear she genuinely enjoyed spending time with them, and she went above and beyond throughout her stay. She sent us lots of photos and updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We came home to an immaculate house with everything in perfect order. I can’t recommend Kay highly enough!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Venice on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 13,751 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Venice. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Venice walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Venice maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Venice choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Venice. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
