Lillian was great! She kept me updated with details about how the days were going and sent lots of pictures. Made me happy to see my dog happy in her normal routine with Lillian. She’s quick to respond when I check in and made sure to let me know that Blue got all of her meds and walks everyday. Lillian is very respectful, I couldn’t even tell anyone had stayed at my house when I got home. I already have additional dates booked with her and am happy to have found someone I can trust in the area!

Liana was so patient with my grumpy special needs bulldog. My dog is super sweet with people but becomes shy and disgruntled when I’m gone which Liana got to experience. Instead of shying away, Liana gave my Eisley space to adjust and worked around his comfort which was a huge relief to me. Additionally with his incontinence, Liana was still able to meet his needs with diaper changes despite his attitude. I can’t thank or applaud her enough efforts enough to help me come home from a work trip unstressed about the safety of my pets. I highly recommend her!

Ashley was a GREAT sitter for our dog. Our dog has anxiety issues when we travel and does best with lots of attention to help her feel calm. She is on different heart medications and needs access to pee breaks. She is also uneasy around other dogs which requires extra attention on walks. Ashley handled all of this with genuine care. She followed all our requests and kept our house nice and tidy. She was responsive and communicative - responding right away and a wind is daily updates and pics. This was our first time using rover and we are thrilled that we met Ashley and finally have someone that can care for our special dog when we are away. Thank you, Ashley!

Hannah was great! She is knowlagable and kind. She took great care of our foxhound, Hunter while we were away for a week. He had lots of stomach troubles and Hannah did her best to help him out and to communicate with us what was going on. We came home to a happy dog and a clean house with her sheets already in the wash. Thanks Hannah!

If I could give JoAnne more than 5 stars, I would. We hired her to stay with our Great Dane, Gandalf, for three days while we were camping. He had just had surgery, so this wasn’t a typical pet-sitting job. She stayed with him around the clock, administered all of his medications, monitored his recovery, and gave us complete peace of mind. JoAnne kept us updated throughout every day with photos, videos, and thoughtful messages, so we always knew exactly how Gandalf was doing. It was so clear how deeply she understands animals. She has an incredible intuition, endless patience, and a genuine love for the pets she cares for. What completely blew us away was everything she did beyond caring for Gandalf. She unexpectedly cleaned our home, folded our laundry, and even washed all of our bedding so we came home after traveling to fresh, clean sheets. It was such an incredibly thoughtful gesture and something we never expected. Coming home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and an immaculate house honestly felt unreal. JoAnne is the real deal. She’s one of those rare people who genuinely loves both animals and people, and it shows in everything she does. We trust her completely and won’t hesitate to book her again. She is an absolute gem, and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her care for their pets.

Sam followed instructions diligently and proved to be a trustworthy caregiver. I will certainly continue to rely on him to take care of my home and dogs.

About: I've either had dogs or lived around dogs my whole life. I can win over even the most reluctant or nervous dogs, and before you know it, I'm one of their best friends. Nights and weekends are no issue! I am available on weekdays in the early mornings and late evenings, and on weekends essentially all day. Quick potty breaks, walks in the park, or petsitting, I can do about anything but boarding. I cannot board or sit dogs in my apartment. However, when sitting at other houses the most important thing to me is taking care of the needs of the dog. In between walks and potty breaks I'm more than happy to play with your dog and give them lots of scritches. If medication or special foods are needed, just let me know.

About: I may be new to Rover, but I'm not new to pet care. I have been a professional pet care provider since 2015, when I left my position at UCLA to pursue my love of animals. As an adult who has been in your shoes, I get it. Of course I love animals -- it's my career. But you need more than that from a pet care provider. You need someone with reliable transportation, who shows up on time, every time, rain or shine. Who has years of experience caring for hundreds of animals, and who knows what to do in an emergency. Someone who is observant enough to alert you when a vet visit may be in order. Someone proactive who can solve problems, instead of calling you at work or on vacation. You need peace of mind, from someone like me. It's my track record of delivering exceptional service that has allowed me to stay in business over 9 years. In addition to my 9 years of pet care experience, I have over 20 years of foster experience. I've been a foster mom for both dogs and cats, from bottle babies to geriatric seniors. I have extensive experience administering medications (both liquid and pills), injections, nebulizers, and subQ fluids. Being so active in the rescue community has given me a breadth of experience that is hard to match. In addition to pet care, I've worked in animal transportation, safely delivering hundreds of cats and dogs over the years. I have STA certification, which means I passed a background that gives me special access at LAX. This experience has honed my skills in handling dogs and cats, even in situations they may find stressful. As much experience as I have, I do not rest on my laurels. I continue to take continuing education classes as a member of Pet Sitters International, and I stay-up-to-date on the latest trends and technology. For example, for added peace of mind, I can attach an AirTag to your dog’s collar. It has never happened, but if he were to get away, I would be able to quickly find him, without relying on you or a microchip. If you are looking for reliable, trustworthy pet care, I’d love the opportunity to interview with your precious fur baby. Routine? I work with dogs and cats full time - every day is different! In the mornings, I may be giving medication to a cat or I may be airside at LAX, preparing a dog for a flight. Lunch I typically spend walking dogs while mom and dad are at work. Evenings find me feeding dinner, or playing with puppies. I have over 20 years experience with cats and dogs, from fostering rescues to transporting pets, working with unfamiliar animals in stressful situations. I've learned a thing or two about safe handling, comforting animals, and building trust. Although I am not a vet, I can recognize conditions that require medical attention, and I have a (lapsed) certification in pet first aid and CPR. Besides my extensive experience, I rely on technology and tools. For example, I have Apple AirTags and IDs with my contact info that I use when walking dogs. This has never happened, but if your doggie got lost, I have the tools to find him, without relying solely on your help, or a microchip reader at the vet. I have a first aid kit at home. I treat your fur babies and your home as if they were my own.

We had Zakiya house sit our newly adopted shelter dog for three days while we were gone on a weekend trip. She was INCREDIBLE. She followed our dog's medication schedule and sent us pictures of our sweet girl every few hours. She took detailed notes on our dog's activities with timestamps, and she left a general behavior report at the end. The house was in perfect condition when we got back. She is incredibly organized. We will be repeat clients!

About: I’ve always been obsessed with dogs for as long as I can remember. I got my first dog when I was 6, and she became the love of my life. I cared for her until I was 19. She was my best friend, part of my daily routine, and went everywhere with me. Since then, I’ve had two rescue dogs, Nani (6) and Lupita (2), who are my whole world. My pets are truly family! They sleep with me, have birthday parties, and are treated with all the love and care they deserve. Because I know how hard it is to trust someone with your biggest treasure, I care for every pet as if they were my own. All my friends always leave their dogs with me when they travel because they know how much love and attention I give to every animal. I have experience walking, bathing, grooming, and playing with dogs of all ages. I’ve also trained my own dogs to follow simple commands like sitting, catching the ball, and peeing on command. I have experience caring for both puppies and senior dogs, my first dog had cancer, and I made sure her final years were full of love and comfort. I run my own business from home, so I have a super flexible schedule! I’m home most of the day, which means your pets will always have company, attention, and lots of love. I can easily adjust my routine for walks, drop-ins, or overnight care. I don’t host pets in my home because I need to respect my older dog, Nani, she’s super sweet but takes time to get comfortable around new dogs. Instead, I offer house sitting and walks at the client’s home. This way, your pet can stay relaxed in their own space, following their routine and getting all the love and care they need.

Barbara stayed in our home with our 14-year-old Labradoodle, Dolly, for five nights while we attended my mother’s funeral on the East Coast. I would absolutely hire her again. She is reliable, caring, thorough, loving, and kind. Dolly has pretty severe separation anxiety when left alone, and Barbara went above and beyond to keep her comfortable. She stayed by Dolly’s side the entire time and took her everywhere with her—three walks a day, out to lunch, to our community pool, the dog park, shopping, and more. She was very mindful of our concerns about both minimizing stress for a senior dog and avoiding any barking that could disturb neighbors. When we returned, our home was spotless and thoughtfully cared for. She even washed the sheets and emptied the dishwasher, which was so appreciated after a difficult trip. It was also incredibly helpful that Barbara came several days in advance to meet us and Dolly, so by the time we left, Dolly already felt comfortable with her. Throughout our time away, I felt completely confident that Dolly was in excellent hands. I also deeply appreciated her daily updates, videos, and thoughtful questions. I highly recommend Barbara for any pet care needs. She treated Dolly with genuine love and attention, and I’m so grateful for the care she provided during such an important and emotional time. Thank you so much, Barbara. 🙏🏻

FAQs for House Sitting - El Segundo

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in El Segundo on Rover is $62.16 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 13,845 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across El Segundo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred El Segundo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in El Segundo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in El Segundo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in El Segundo. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
