“Sarah and Karl took great care of our dog and our home while we were away for a week. We really appreciated the daily updates and photos. They gave us total peace of mind knowing everything was going well. They left the house spotless and our pup was happy and well cared for. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy and thoughtful sitters.”

“Liana was such a good sitter and friend to Karl!! Came in town for the weekend have never used Rover before so was a little bit nervous. We were also staying at an Airbnb. So it was a little bit of a complex situation seeing as how we came in town for an event on Sunday so we needed Liana all day but she made us trust rover and she was amazing with our corgi Karl, took him on a hike and showed him around town with our permission! Sent us pics and updates! We know he was well taken care of and had a great time exploring with Liana! Anytime we’re back in the area will def ask her again! Def recommend to any family or friend or any other paw parent!”

“Yuliia stayed with Rosie for 2 weeks while I was out of town. She was absolutely fantastic. Rosie got lots of walks, spent many nights relaxing on the couch with Yuliia and we got lots of pictures. She also left the house cleaner than I think it was when I left. I would absolutely recommend her for anyone looking for a sitter.”

“Julie was great! She did a meet and greet to let us introduce her to whiskey and vice versa. She was really respectful of our home and arrived and left right on time. She sent us a lot of wonderful photos and updates! Thank you for taking such good care of our boy. We would definitely book with Julie again, I hope she feels the same!”

About: With over 15 years of experience in personalized pup walking and pet sitting, I’ve cared for all breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments. I’ve also fostered more than 35 puppies/dogs for rescue organizations; in addition to my own pets, helping them grow into confident social companions so that they can find their home. In addition, I bring over 11 years of dog training experience, allowing me to work confidently with shy, high-energy and/or behaviorally unique pups. I understand that every pup is different and I tailor my training to meet each one’s individual needs. Your pup’s safety, comfort and happiness are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each individual's unique personality, routine and needs - whether that means high-energy playtime, structured walks and/or a sniffing safari for shy and/or senior pups. I always move at their comfort level, respect boundaries and use positive gentle handling to create a safe and stress-free experience. During every visit, I make sure your dog receives attentive care, companionship and plenty of enrichment. I’m happy to follow specific feeding routines, administer basic medications, reinforce training cues and keep their environment clean, safe and secure. With my background in photography, you’ll receive high-quality photo and video updates during each visit - so you can feel connected, reassured and confident that your pup is happy and well cared for while you’re away. I currently work from home, which gives me plenty of flexibility to provide your pets with the time, attention and care they deserve. I focus on keeping them both physically active and mentally stimulated, whether that’s through walks, playtime, enrichment activities and/or simply providing companionship. We have access to two fenced-in dog parks within my complex, providing 2 safe and fun space for exercise and play. I also have a dog-friendly 5 year old spayed female dog, up-to-date with vaccines, who gets along great with both dogs and cats - she loves having company, whether it’s for playtime or just relaxing at home watching TV.

“Deborah was great. She kept us updated daily with photos of her walks with Wylie and Deborah's Ralphie. She stayed with him at our house, which she left in perfect order with a happy dog waiting for us. Will definitely like her to sit for our boy again.”

“Jasmine was amazing. Very easy to communicate with , constant updates on your dog, and very smooth and easy introduction. My dog clearly loved Jasmine and Jasmine clearly knows how to communicate with animals. I have a big pit bull and she handle her perfectly....do not hesitate in booking Jasmine!!”

“Ashley stayed with our dog Obi for two weeks. He seemed happy and settled with her, and he was in good shape when we got back. She sent updates regularly, which made being away easier. She was also easy to have in the house and left things tidy. We would definitely book her again.”

“Danielle was so great with Bear, and put me at ease while I was away for an extended trip. She stuck to his schedule seamlessly, provided lots of adorable photo updates and made sure my apartment was as clean as she found it. Could not recommend Danielle enough!”

About: I’ve always been obsessed with dogs for as long as I can remember. I got my first dog when I was 6, and she became the love of my life. I cared for her until I was 19. She was my best friend, part of my daily routine, and went everywhere with me. Since then, I’ve had two rescue dogs, Nani (6) and Lupita (2), who are my whole world. My pets are truly family! They sleep with me, have birthday parties, and are treated with all the love and care they deserve. Because I know how hard it is to trust someone with your biggest treasure, I care for every pet as if they were my own. All my friends always leave their dogs with me when they travel because they know how much love and attention I give to every animal. I have experience walking, bathing, grooming, and playing with dogs of all ages. I’ve also trained my own dogs to follow simple commands like sitting, catching the ball, and peeing on command. I have experience caring for both puppies and senior dogs, my first dog had cancer, and I made sure her final years were full of love and comfort. I run my own business from home, so I have a super flexible schedule! I’m home most of the day, which means your pets will always have company, attention, and lots of love. I can easily adjust my routine for walks, drop-ins, or overnight care. I don’t host pets in my home because I need to respect my older dog, Nani, she’s super sweet but takes time to get comfortable around new dogs. Instead, I offer house sitting and walks at the client’s home. This way, your pet can stay relaxed in their own space, following their routine and getting all the love and care they need.

“Our little guy is a tough one and Sam did great! Reggie is a rescue with a lot of issues and needs medicine regularly. We’ve had other sitters get scared off and not able to give his medicine. Sam was a pro! And by the end of the week, they were actually friends! Def recommend and will use him again.”

“Valia has watched our 9mo old pup during the workdays a few times and he has loved it! He’s always tired when I get home, and she even cleaned up some accidents in the backyard I didn’t get to that day!”

About: I've either had dogs or lived around dogs my whole life. I can win over even the most reluctant or nervous dogs, and before you know it, I'm one of their best friends. Nights and weekends are no issue! I am available on weekdays in the early mornings and late evenings, and on weekends essentially all day. Quick potty breaks, walks in the park, or petsitting, I can do about anything but boarding. I cannot board or sit dogs in my apartment. However, when sitting at other houses the most important thing to me is taking care of the needs of the dog. In between walks and potty breaks I'm more than happy to play with your dog and give them lots of scritches. If medication or special foods are needed, just let me know.

“Andrea is a great dog and house sitter. The dogs are well cared for and she left the house as if she was never even here! She is a great communicator and provides updates regularly. So happy to have found her!”

“Lillian took excellent care of our dogs! Our dogs were comfortable with Lillian from the start, and she followed our detailed instructions in looking after them. Our house was spotless when we got home, and our dogs seemed happy and relaxed. Lillian was conscientious and responded very quickly to my messages. I felt peace of mind with her caring for my dogs while I was away!”

I enjoy walks, playtime, and keeping dogs active and happy. I’ll also send you regular photo updates, so you’ll always know your pet is in good hands. I have a flexible schedule and plan my day carefully to make sure every pet gets the time, attention, and care they need. I enjoy staying active, so walks, playtime, and companionship are always part of my routine. I keep my calendar updated and will communicate clearly about my availability. “Alexa was amazing with our boy Rocky! She was was very attentive to his needs and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable while we were out! She sent tons of pics and updates. We highly recommend her!”

“Hannah provided incredible care for my dog, cats and house. She had to deal with an animal healthy emergency and I was extremely impressed with her communication and the work she put in, getting my cat to the vet, and then an emergency care hospital. My animals loved her! My dog is very shy, and I’ve never seen him so happy. She left my house shining, and my animals very safe and loved.”

“Todd was great with our dogs for an overnight! We don’t travel without the dogs very often and it’s hard finding someone new, Todd was very easy going and dependable and made sure our dogs and home were well looked after. And on a holiday no less. Thank you Todd!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Playa del Rey
Piper was wonderful! She was very friendly and Ozzy took to her quickly. I loved that she sent us lots of updates about how Ozzy was doing and also let me know her schedule for the day if she had to leave for a bit. We came back to our place very tidy, and she followed all of our instructions perfectly. Thank you so much!!

Ashley stayed with our dog Obi for two weeks. He seemed happy and settled with her, and he was in good shape when we got back. She sent updates regularly, which made being away easier. She was also easy to have in the house and left things tidy. We would definitely book her again.

Brooke was absolutely wonderful! She stayed in our home for a little over two weeks while caring for our 23-year-old cat, Chloe, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Coming home to such a happy, relaxed kitty was the greatest gift. It was obvious Chloe was loved, well cared for, and never felt neglected while we were away. Brooke also took exceptional care of our home—it was absolutely immaculate when we returned. She sent thoughtful daily updates with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to truly enjoy our vacation knowing everything was in great hands. Brooke is trustworthy, kind, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. We would hire her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable house and pet sitter!

Rebecca is truly a person that you can trust. She sat for our pets at home for 3 weeks. She scrupulously applied all the gestures and followed the timelines that we asked from her. Our pets were sad to see her leave. We highly recommend Rebecca and will use her services again for sure

Omg Luke is the BEST! I’m a crazy dog mom and luke was so calm, sweet and kind with me and my dog. He was super communicative - definitely has become my go-to dog sitter forever now. Also he took amazing care of our house when we were gone - everything was spotless. Thank you, Luke! You’re the best ever and set the standard for Dogsitters!

Julie did a great job taking care of Waldy while we were out of town. We met beforehand to walk through his routine, and she was very thoughtful, communicative, and attentive throughout the stay. She sent lots of photos and updates, which we really appreciated, and we came home to a happy dog and everything in perfect shape. We’re very grateful for her help!

What can I say about Sam. Upon meeting Sam for the first time I had a good feeling. Super professional, calm and kind. We had never hired someone to take care of our (very) needy, (terribly) grumpy dog so we were really nervous about how it would go. Usually our dog stays with family who already knows his deal. We didn’t know quite how to prepare someone new let alone what to ask. Sam was very patient and helped us through the process. After meeting Sam there was no doubt he would be our sitter. He was so sweet with our dog and the quirks we warned Sam about were no deterrent at all. His view on pet care, especially those in their golden years is very special. Speaks to the kind heart Sam has. We had a tight turn around between trips and Sam was very understanding and flexible (and didn’t I mention kind??) with us when dealing with logistics. Sam sent pictures of our dog and had great communication while we were away. I could tell our grouchy guy was in heaven from the updates despite our pup having to get eye drops which wasn’t a problem for Sam at all. Long story short, Sam is a lovely human who takes pride in what he does, truly cares about the animals in his care. No doubt would recommend Sam in a heartbeat and would use Sam again.

Kay was a fantastic house and dog sitter. We were away for a week, and she took wonderful care of our two dogs. It was clear she genuinely enjoyed spending time with them, and she went above and beyond throughout her stay. She sent us lots of photos and updates, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We came home to an immaculate house with everything in perfect order. I can’t recommend Kay highly enough!

Sarah and Karl were amazing with Dodger! They were incredibly patient, kind, and made sure he felt comfortable the entire time. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. I really appreciated the care and attention they gave him—highly recommend!

Ross was perfect for us and our 8-month-old puppy. Kind, thoughtful, good communication. First time taking care of Sesame while we were gone and he did a great job. Would recommend him any time and looking forward to having him watch over our puppy in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Playa del Rey on Rover is $67.15 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 13,653 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Playa del Rey. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Playa del Rey walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Playa del Rey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Playa del Rey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Playa del Rey. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
