“Liana was so patient with my grumpy special needs bulldog. My dog is super sweet with people but becomes shy and disgruntled when I’m gone which Liana got to experience. Instead of shying away, Liana gave my Eisley space to adjust and worked around his comfort which was a huge relief to me. Additionally with his incontinence, Liana was still able to meet his needs with diaper changes despite his attitude. I can’t thank or applaud her enough efforts enough to help me come home from a work trip unstressed about the safety of my pets. I highly recommend her!”

“Jasmine has been watching Zuko since he was small and he loves her! She's very patient and kind with our pup. She follows our instructions for his care and sends updates with photos often. She left our apartment nice and clean as well. Will definitely continuing working with Jasmine!”

About: I’ve always been obsessed with dogs for as long as I can remember. I got my first dog when I was 6, and she became the love of my life. I cared for her until I was 19. She was my best friend, part of my daily routine, and went everywhere with me. Since then, I’ve had two rescue dogs, Nani (6) and Lupita (2), who are my whole world. My pets are truly family! They sleep with me, have birthday parties, and are treated with all the love and care they deserve. Because I know how hard it is to trust someone with your biggest treasure, I care for every pet as if they were my own. All my friends always leave their dogs with me when they travel because they know how much love and attention I give to every animal. I have experience walking, bathing, grooming, and playing with dogs of all ages. I’ve also trained my own dogs to follow simple commands like sitting, catching the ball, and peeing on command. I have experience caring for both puppies and senior dogs, my first dog had cancer, and I made sure her final years were full of love and comfort. I run my own business from home, so I have a super flexible schedule! I’m home most of the day, which means your pets will always have company, attention, and lots of love. I can easily adjust my routine for walks, drop-ins, or overnight care. I don’t host pets in my home because I need to respect my older dog, Nani, she’s super sweet but takes time to get comfortable around new dogs. Instead, I offer house sitting and walks at the client’s home. This way, your pet can stay relaxed in their own space, following their routine and getting all the love and care they need.
“Sarah & Karl watched both our dog and cat. They were great communicators & very attentive to our pets needs. We didn’t have to worry about our pets for a single second while we were gone because they were constantly providing updates. 10/10.”

“Andrea is a great companion for our dogs when we go out of town. She is a great communicator and lets us know how they're doing throughout our time away. She is also very respectful of our home and leaves it in excellent condition. Highly recommend her services!”

About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Wisconsin surrounded by pets, animals, and farms, and have more than 20 years of hands-on experience caring for animals of all kinds. My family has always had pets, and I was helping with their care practically as soon as I could walk! I have experience with dogs of every size, from tiny breeds to gentle giants, and at every stage of life, from energetic puppies to sweet seniors. I have an especially soft spot for older animals and understand the extra patience, attention, and gentleness they sometimes need. I’m also comfortable giving oral medications, applying routine flea and tick treatments, and checking for and removing ticks. And I’m definitely not just a dog person! I’ve grown up around and cared for cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, and other small animals, and I’m very comfortable in homes with multiple kinds of pets. Most importantly, I know pets are family. I also know how much trust it takes to leave them and your home in someone else’s care. Whether your pet needs a long walk and plenty of playtime, a quiet companion to keep them company, or just someone patient enough to let a senior pup take their sweet time, I’ll care for them with the same attention and affection I’d want for my own. My schedule is currently very flexible, which allows me to make pet care a real part of my day rather than something I have to squeeze in around work. I’m active, outdoorsy, and love being outside, so walks and playtime are a natural fit for me! I’m available throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting, and I’m happy to work with your pet’s usual routine whenever possible. After years of balancing school and a professional career, I’m very organized, dependable, and genuinely excited to use my extra time to help care for pets in my community. I live in a pet-friendly two-bedroom condo surrounded by beautiful, expansive grounds, including a park right within our community. My neighborhood is quiet, walkable, and low-traffic, with plenty of nearby parks, dog-friendly areas, and even the beach just a short walk away, so there are lots of options for safe walks and outdoor time depending on your pet’s needs and energy level. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, I’ll always follow their normal routine and your instructions closely. I know every animal is different, and I’m happy to adjust walks, playtime, feeding, medication, and downtime to what makes them most comfortable. Safety and trust come first, and I’ll treat your pet and your home with the same care and respect I would my own.
About: I have had dogs my whole life. Right now I have a German Husky mix who is 8 years old and two cats, 6y and 8y. They are my babies, I will care for yours as I would mine. I have always dog sat here and there for friends, once for a family of three boxers. Not working currently, open availability. Will work around schedules. Open to long walks, bonus if my dog can come too, he is very friendly with other dogs. If this is not possible it’s also okay. :) It would definitely be best for me to care for pets in your home. Open to working out any situation, just let me know. Thanks

“Deborah was excellent!!! She stayed with our dog for the weekend at our house. I honestly was very tentative leaving a person who I only briefly met through a meet and greet at my house alone. It was my first time using dog vacay- but she had wonderful references and dog vacay reassured me as well. Deborah was perfect- she took great care of both our dog and our home! She sent updates/ pictures throughout weekend and was great with communication. I came back to a very happy dog and my house was in perfect order when I returned. I would highly recommend her and hope she is available again to take care of our dog when we go away!! Thank you so much again!”

“This was my first time leaving my cat overnight since adopting her a few years ago, so I was definitely a bit nervous but Katherine made the whole experience completely worry-free. She provided frequent updates and adorable photos that gave me peace of mind while I was away. She was incredibly friendly, responsive, and accommodating throughout. I also came home to a spotless house, exactly how I left it. I’m beyond grateful for the care she gave my cat and am absolutely certain I’ll be hiring her again for any future cat-sitting needs. Highly recommend!”

“Samuel was fantastic! Elvis love him and they had a great time together. Samuel was very communicative, which I really appreciated. He sent pictures and checked in daily, but not too much. He was also honest about our pup’s witching hour when he turns into a monster, and said it was challenging but they managed through it. His honesty is refreshing and comforting. He left our house very clean and neat. He is a professional and that shows in every way. We will absolutely use him again!”

About: With over 15 years of experience in personalized pup walking and pet sitting, I’ve cared for all breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments. I’ve also fostered more than 35 puppies/dogs for rescue organizations; in addition to my own pets, helping them grow into confident social companions so that they can find their home. In addition, I bring over 11 years of dog training experience, allowing me to work confidently with shy, high-energy and/or behaviorally unique pups. I understand that every pup is different and I tailor my training to meet each one’s individual needs. Your pup’s safety, comfort and happiness are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each individual's unique personality, routine and needs - whether that means high-energy playtime, structured walks and/or a sniffing safari for shy and/or senior pups. I always move at their comfort level, respect boundaries and use positive gentle handling to create a safe and stress-free experience. During every visit, I make sure your dog receives attentive care, companionship and plenty of enrichment. I’m happy to follow specific feeding routines, administer basic medications, reinforce training cues and keep their environment clean, safe and secure. With my background in photography, you’ll receive high-quality photo and video updates during each visit - so you can feel connected, reassured and confident that your pup is happy and well cared for while you’re away. I currently work from home, which gives me plenty of flexibility to provide your pets with the time, attention and care they deserve. I focus on keeping them both physically active and mentally stimulated, whether that’s through walks, playtime, enrichment activities and/or simply providing companionship. We have access to two fenced-in dog parks within my complex, providing 2 safe and fun space for exercise and play. I also have a dog-friendly 5 year old spayed female dog, up-to-date with vaccines, who gets along great with both dogs and cats - she loves having company, whether it’s for playtime or just relaxing at home watching TV.
“Ashley was a GREAT sitter for our dog. Our dog has anxiety issues when we travel and does best with lots of attention to help her feel calm. She is on different heart medications and needs access to pee breaks. She is also uneasy around other dogs which requires extra attention on walks. Ashley handled all of this with genuine care. She followed all our requests and kept our house nice and tidy. She was responsive and communicative - responding right away and a wind is daily updates and pics. This was our first time using rover and we are thrilled that we met Ashley and finally have someone that can care for our special dog when we are away. Thank you, Ashley!”

“Hannah is so thorough and caring with my senior dog. She is one of few people that he trusts to be close to him, she gives great and consistent updates and is very communicative about any updates in his care.”

“Jessica is attentive, kind, and thorough. She listened carefully and treated my sweet older dog with care. She communicates well and even wrote notes about her day with my dog so she wouldn’t forget anything. Will use her services again!”

About: Leaving your fur babies behind is never easy, but I’m here to give you total peace of mind. As a registered veterinary technician with 14 years of experience caring for animals, I’m happily stepping out of the clinic and into your home! My goal is to bring that same high level of medical expertise and attentiveness into the comfortable, stress-free environment where your pets feel safest. Whether your sweet pup or kitty needs a strict medical routine, or just an extra dose of love and belly rubs while you’re away, I promise to treat them exactly like my own. Because I work from home, I have the complete freedom and flexibility to closely adhere to your pet's individual daily routine and schedule. Whether that’s with drop-in visits, walks and exercise, or pet sitting in your home. Every pet has their own perfect pace, and I'm happy to match it. From leisurely walks along the strand/beach to high-energy games of fetch in the park or yard, or just cozying up for some serious couch-potato cuddles, your pet gets exactly the kind of day they love most. My extensive veterinary background equips me to handle pets that require specialized attention. I am highly experienced in administering oral and injectable medications. I have been fully trained in recognizing subtle animal behaviors, and tailor my care to meet their individual needs and personalities. I always respect their boundaries, move to their level of comfort, and use only positive and gentle handling so they feel safe and loved. My own experience caring for my beloved cranky 14 year old pup, who suffers from epilepsy and immune mediated illness, has taught me to be extremely observant, read body language meticulously, and proactively adapt environments to avoid negative situations. I am passionate about welcoming animals of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and life stages—from energetic puppies and kittens to sweet seniors. I have 2 senior pups and a 26-year-old tortoise of my own! My love for animals is a huge part of who I am, even outside the clinic. While living in Southeast Asia, I spent my time volunteering with local rescue organizations, where I personally loved on and cared for over 200 dogs and puppies. From nursing injured and paralyzed pups to keeping up with daily feeding, bathing, and playtime, I was fully hands-on. Above all, your pet’s safety and happiness are at the heart of everything I do. I want you to feel like you're leaving your baby with a trusted friend. I pride myself on being reliable, attentive, and deeply compassionate, and I treat your home and pets with the utmost respect. I promise to keep you connected with plenty of sweet updates and photos along the way. I truly love going the extra mile to ensure that you can relax completely, knowing your furry family member is feeling loved, comfortable, and completely pampered. Can't wait to meet your best friend! Working from home gives me the complete flexibility to seamlessly match your pets daily routine. I am available for whatever your pet needs, from walks and feedings to drop-in’s and full pet sitting. Because my own grumpy senior pup doesn’t do well with new friends, I don’t offer care in my home. However, I’d love to keep your pets routine perfectly consistent by caring for them in their own familiar space.
“Marie is the absolute best! She took such incredible care of my senior dog, Honey, treating her as if she were her own. She has a special way with dogs, providing them with so much love, patience, and attention. I never had to worry for a second because I knew my pup was in the best hands. Marie is trustworthy, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond. If you’re looking for someone who will love and care for your dog like family, Marie is the one! Plus, she sends the most amazing pictures. 💗🙏🏼”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Playa del Rey
Julia was amazing! She looked after our one year old golden retriever Clementine for three days. She gave us plenty of updates and responded quickly when we checked in. Clementine still has some of that puppy energy and excitement and Julia handled that so well. Clem loved her and we’ll definitely book again!

Karl and Sarah are amazing! They are our go to sitters. They take such great care of our pup (who has epilepsy) and it’s such a relief to be able to leave him knowing he is in good hands. They are great about sending updates and photos. They are super respectful and tidy when staying over. We cannot recommend them more!

Fidana stayed with and watched our two dogs in our home for a long weekend and was awesome! This was our second time booking her, and since our first booking was a much shorter stay, it was great to have her with the dogs for a few days this time. She sent us lots of cute videos and updates, which we loved, and was really attentive to our care guide and the routines and systems we have in place for the dogs. It was nice knowing their day-to-day care was mirroring what they’re used to when we’re home. She also left our house in beautiful shape. We’d absolutely have her watch the dogs again. Thanks so much, Fidana!

Piper was wonderful! She was very friendly and Ozzy took to her quickly. I loved that she sent us lots of updates about how Ozzy was doing and also let me know her schedule for the day if she had to leave for a bit. We came back to our place very tidy, and she followed all of our instructions perfectly. Thank you so much!!

Ashley stayed with our dog Obi for two weeks. He seemed happy and settled with her, and he was in good shape when we got back. She sent updates regularly, which made being away easier. She was also easy to have in the house and left things tidy. We would definitely book her again.

Rebecca is truly a person that you can trust. She sat for our pets at home for 3 weeks. She scrupulously applied all the gestures and followed the timelines that we asked from her. Our pets were sad to see her leave. We highly recommend Rebecca and will use her services again for sure

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Playa del Rey on Rover is $67.15 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 13,653 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Playa del Rey. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Playa del Rey walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Playa del Rey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Playa del Rey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Playa del Rey. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
