“Shannon went above and beyond taking care of our two dogs and cat while we were away for two weeks. She left our apartment immaculate and we came home to happy, relaxed pets. She sent us pictures and updates and was very responsive. She even figured out our fancy litter box when it jammed. Would highly recommend and would definitely use again!”

“My dog seems to be very reserves and skittish around strangers so was very apprehensive about booking someone from Rover to stay with her. I made the perfect choice with Anthea. My little girl was comfortable with her right away. Anthea sent multiple pictures and put my mind at ease immediately couldn’t ask for a better person to take care of your animal. I will certainly use her again.”

“Janexis and Zach were wonderful with helping take care of my reactive and anxious pit mix, Minnie. They sent just the right amount of updates, and she looked so happy and at home with each picture! They kept me at ease the entire time. They were also flexible when I needed to extend their care, and left my place cleaner than I left for them! I will definitely use them to care for my pup in the future.”

“Shaelyn did a wonderful job with the overnight stay with our two labradoodles. She gave frequent and detailed updates with great pictures. Everything was stress free and a very positive experience. I’m looking forward to booking Shaelyn again soon.”

“When Kelly first came to meet our girls she was understanding and patient with our dogs. My oldest Zola tends to be overprotective of me when others are around, she shows it by barking constantly. Kelly was gentle and knew how to engage. During her day with our girls she sent us pictures and videos of my girls! She also communicated with us while we were away on how they were behaving and what they were up to! Thank you Kelly for caring for our girls!”

“Went above and beyond watching our two dogs. We had a very last minute trip planned the day before we left and Kayden was very professional and quick to respond. Our two dogs were super happy and clearly very comfortable and well taken care of when we got home. We got lots of pictures and videos throughout our trip and got regular updates on how the dogs were doing. He followed all instructions and even our smaller dog who can be shy and afraid of new people became his shadow and played with him the whole time we were gone. Kayden even left our house cleaner than when he arrived. He is clearly very compassionate and caring towards animals and we will definitely hire him again for our next trip!”

“Kathryn was the most amazing dog sitter we could have asked for! She was attentive, had great communication, and gave our pup a lot of exercise. So so appreciative of her!”

“Rachel was wonderful! She was so sweet and compassionate to my sometimes crazy boy. I received daily check-ins/photos, she was communicative, and took great care of my apartment. I can tell that she truly loves animals and was always very kind to me as well. I highly recommend Rachel, your pets will be in good hands.”

“Heidi was awesome with our kitty cat Stitch! Daily updates and pictures, super loving to our boy and left everything spotless at the house. Stitch seemed so happy and relaxed upon our return which was such a pleasant surprise since he tends to get stressed when we travel. Highly recommend and will definitely hope to book with Heidi again in the future.”

“Amy kept my daughter’s dog and my dog for a week. It was obvious the pups were having a good time by the photos she sent us. I left her a lot of instructions and she followed them exactly. One of our dogs has a physical issue and she was great about separating the two types of food and so forth. Amy stayed in my home and she left it in great shape. Clean and tidy. I would highly recommend that if you’re looking for a sitter, Amy is excellent.”

“Eva did a great job with our dogs, cat, and chickens. She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures. I came home to a clean house and the animals happy. I would definitely use Eva again for future stays!”

“Chase did a great job sitting for us while we were out of town. We got plenty of updates and pictures throughout his stay with her, and she enjoyed her time. Definitely appreciate the after visit summary he provided.”

“Heather is an AWESOME & AMAZING house/pet sitter. She stayed at our house for 16 days & we could not be happier!!! Our dogs just LOVE her, she has amazing knowledge & skill with my two LARGE, hyper, active, spoiled rotten dogs. I think they even behave better now from being watched by her. She is a great communicator, she sent tons of photos, videoclips & text of my dogs. She even threw a birthday party for my 5 year old Lab & made him treats!! All while sending me pictures of the whole event!! I could go on & on about how good & caring Heather is, she even leaves the house perfectly clean. All I can say is if you book her you'll know your getting the best!!”
“Makayla did a great job and gave me multiple updates on my dog. He’s a nervous guy and she was respectful and smart about building trust and letting me know how he was doing.”

“Sierra was perfect for my high-energy puppy. She completely understood how demanding a young dog can be, making sure he got plenty of exercise and playtime. The photo updates she sent were fantastic and so fun to receive. I came home to a spotless house and a very tired, happy dog. Highly, highly recommend her to anyone!”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. Recently just had to say goodbye to my pup of 10 years. We walked a healthy amount three times a day rain snow or shine I work as a teacher so I’m home early enough to walk a dog or two and can make morning walks happen too if needed. When I walk dogs, I hold on to them with their leash wrapped around my wrist and led very calmly. I can also work with non leash trained dogs.
“Victoria has been a great sitter and I would love to use her again in the future. She provided several updates throughout the stay, and was very attentive. One of our pets experienced a medical emergency and she was able to take them to the ER vet and get them the care needed. I’m not sure what we would have done without her!”

“Chardonay did a wonderful job caring for our anxious senior German shepherd. We were gone for 10 days, out of the country, and I felt so relieved having someone who clearly cares for dogs so deeply caring for our girl. She managed meds, special diet, and communicated with us the whole time. We will for sure using Chardonay again!”

Venessa was nothing short of amazing. We last minute needed someone to stay with our dogs for a day while we were at work and she answered the call! I was sent pictures of my 3 fur babies all day with constant updates and communication. I will without a doubt be calling on Venessa again when we need someone to stay with the dogs.
We couldn't be happier with the care our pets received! They were incredibly reliable, communicative, and sent the cutest daily photo updates. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our fur babies were in such loving hands while we were away. Highly recommend.

Michelle was awesome. She was responsive during the booking process and provided regular updates during the stay. The house was in good shape and the dogs seemed very happy. We would 100% use her again and highly recommend her services to anyone who needs pet/house sitting.

Stephanie was wonderful. She was able to help me out for two days at very last minute. She communicates clearly and timely and followed through with what she said she'd do and when she'd be here. The house was just as clean as I had left it and she even put the laundry she used into the washer for me. I'd highly recommend using her for your animal care. Simple and seamless.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vancouver walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vancouver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vancouver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vancouver. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
