“Anthea stayed with Henry at our house for two nights and did an amazing job. The photos and nightly updates were detailed and just what we wanted while being away from the pup. We would definitely work with Anthea in the future!”

“Lyla was a fantastic dog/house sitter! We got pictures and updates each day we were gone. Our pups were treated like her own and they were genuinely loved while we were gone. There’s nothing better than leaving and not having stress because Lyla was there with them! Everything was clean, dogs were walked and Lyla was great at communicating. Hoping we get the opportunity to have her sit for our pups again!”

“Emily took great care of our pets while we were gone for the weekend. She was very communicative and updated us upon arrival, daily, and when she left at the end of the stay. Our fur babies were well loved by Emily!”

About: I have always loved dogs. I grew up with a black lab (age 5-18), and when I was in high school I frequently watched dogs and cats in a pet sitting capacity. Pet sitting for neighbors and friends was my first job, and as soon as I got my drivers license, I expanded my pet sitting clientele. As an adult, my husband and I had a rescue dog (Pitt/lab mix) who was our fur baby. When we adopted her, she had separation anxiety and resource guarding issues. We worked with a trainer to help her overcome those issues, and were grateful for the wonderful years we enjoyed with her. Unfortunately, she died in early 2025. While we are not in a position to have our own dog right now, we would love to continue to snuggle and support local dogs through pet sitting. We do have a toddler at home. She loves dogs and we would never leave her unattended with any animal. While we will be careful to ensure any dogs in our care are set up for success by being separated from our toddler with baby gates, etc., we are only able to host dogs who are comfortable around small children. I am a middle school teacher, so I have full-time availability during school breaks and the summer. I am also available to drop in before and/or after my work, depending on the location. My husband, Cristopher, works from home and loves having a dog as his co-worker to be let out on demand. As dog owners, we never left our own dog home alone for more than 4-5 hours, and we will only accept a boarding booking if our schedule allows the same time commitment to your dog. We treat all dogs like they are our own. As a former pet parent, I know that I can never replace you, but I will do everything I can to make sure your dog feels comfortable and safe in my care. We have a fenced yard with no animals in our home (except for the occasional wild bunny). Our yard has plenty of space for dogs to run around and play.
“Janexis and Zach were wonderful with helping take care of my reactive and anxious pit mix, Minnie. They sent just the right amount of updates, and she looked so happy and at home with each picture! They kept me at ease the entire time. They were also flexible when I needed to extend their care, and left my place cleaner than I left for them! I will definitely use them to care for my pup in the future.”

“Went above and beyond for both myself and my brothers (the pets). She accommodated us greatly to the extreme weather that happened in Portland, making us unable to fly back home on time. She kept us updated with photos and texts letting us know how the day went. My pets, especially Beckham, has fallen in love with her! I trust her entirely to take care of my home and pets with the greatest of care and consideration.”

“Caitlin was awesome with my furry little buddy. She had excellent communication while I was away and left my place just as it was before I left. Everything went smooth and put my mind at ease. She definitely earned a repeat customer. Top notch. Thanks Caitlin.”

“Rachelle took great care of our active dog, senior cat, and our home while we were out of town. She came over on her own for a pre booking meet and greet, checked in with us regularly while we were away, sent photos and kept us updated, and left the house clean and respected the space. We'd def book her again. Thanks Rachelle!”

Francisca is absolutely amazing! She was in constant communication with us, sent tons of pictures and updates, and went above and beyond with taking care of our cat and home while we were away. She is kind and courteous, I cannot recommend her enough for your fur babies!

Kaitlyn is a very capable and responsible sitter. My 2 dogs both have health issues and take medications and it can be difficult and confusing, but not for her. She sent pics everyday during her stay at my house. She goes above and beyond and really loves dogs. They love her too!

Kaitlin was absolutely amazing! She was so kind and communicative, and she cared for my dog (senior dog with elder care needs) in my home for eight days and I am so grateful. I received frequent check-ins, updates, and photos while I was away, and I came home to a really clean home. She went above and beyond. I definitely recommend her for pet care and I hope to hire her again in the future.

Emma has been absolutely wonderful, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provided for our fur babies! My wife and I wanted to spend some time exploring national and state parks, but it was really important to us to have someone we trusted staying at home with our pups and cat while we were away. Emma gave us exactly that peace of mind. She is incredibly attentive, sweet, loving, and nurturing with all of our animals. She took the time to engage with them, spend quality time with them, and make sure they received plenty of love and attention while also keeping them on their normal routine. We really appreciated that she followed all of our instructions and made sure everything went according to plan. Emma was also very punctual and communicative throughout her stay. We absolutely loved receiving the pictures and videos she sent us—it was so reassuring getting to see our babies happy, comfortable, and being well cared for while we were away. One of the biggest things for us was simply knowing someone responsible and caring was physically there with our animals, especially in case anything unexpected or an emergency happened. Having Emma there allowed us to actually relax and enjoy our adventures without constantly worrying about what was happening back home. You can tell Emma genuinely cares about animals, and seeing how loving she was with our pups and cat meant a lot to us. We would absolutely trust her with our babies again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, communicative, and genuinely caring sitter. Thank you, Emma, for taking such great care of our little family! ❤️🐶🐶🐱

Shelby was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, her communication was excellent, and she was incredibly professional, reliable, and caring. It gave us complete peace of mind knowing our pups were in such great hands. She is, without a doubt, the best pet sitter we've ever had—and we've already booked her again! We can't recommend Shelby highly enough. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our fur babies! 🐾😊

Caity is very knowledgeable about canine behavior. She even gave me a great tip to optimize my training regarding teaching my dog that loud vehicles are not a big deal. She provided timely updates and pics to keep my mind at ease while I was away. The house was tidy and my dog was happy upon my return.

Katelyn has taken care of my 2 dogs several times. She is an amazing dog sitter and I highly recommend her! My dogs need special care because one has seizures and the other one has pain and a collapsed trachea. They have a complex medication schedule and I never have to worry that they won't receive their meds in the correct amount at the correct time. Katelyn is also very experienced with animal behavior. She is like a dog whisperer! I will be having her sit for my dogs again, and soon!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orchards walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orchards maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orchards choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
