“Amazing sitter! Sharkey had the best weekend ever. He came home happy, relaxed, and very pleased with himself. I loved the photo updates and the extra care she gave him. He was clearly spoiled in all the right ways. Five stars and a tiny dramatic dog bow from Sharkey himself.”

“Brittany was wonderful! I felt very comfortable leaving my 5lb Maltese with her. She sent many updates with photos and he got along well with her little doggy. She let us know what treats she gave him and when he ate his kibble. I knew my dog was in good hands. We will definitely book with her again in the future!”

“Lainey agreed to board my Golden and Aussie last minute and she did a phenomenal job! My Aussie does not like new people and struggles with severe anxiety and fear aggression. I was honest about his behaviors upfront and not once did she seem scared, which is so uncommon, even at dog boarding facilities. Because of her passion for animals, managing behaviors, and training, he had a successful stay and I could enjoy time away without worrying constantly. I can't begin to explain how freeing and relieving that was! I will be using Lainey in the future and would highly recommend her to anyone! Thank you, Lainey!! You are such a blessing!”

“Christina Christina, I want to thank you so much for your amazing service. It was short notice, but you were patient, kind, and most of all trustworthy! We truly appreciate you and will be booking again with you very soon. 😊”

“Ryan did a great job communicating about my dog while in his care and the meet and greet before the stay was very helpful. Ryan’s dogs are welcoming and it was nice knowing Ryan was home most of the day and able to walk my dog to keep him on a routine.”

“JungHwan is awesome! They were flexible for a last minute booking. Kept me up to speed on how things were going during the stay. Super friendly folks, zero hesitation to use them again.”

“China was amazing. This was the first time I’ve booked a sitter on rover and she did her best to alleviate all my worries. My pup is super anxious and she did her best to help her eat her food and gave her all the time she needed to potty and do her business. She also gave my pup her meds which isn’t always easy! As long as she is available I will always go to China she’s awesome.”

“This was our second time boarding with Brittany, and we will be back! She takes the best pictures and gives us daily updates, and our pup was SO excited to see her when we dropped her off!”

About: I’ve had house dogs for most of my adult life. I recently had to put my little guy to sleep after 13 years and I’m looking to fill that void he left! I’m patient and loving. I now have a 6 pound chihuahua that’s 9 and very laid back I’ve just started this business but you won’t find someone more passionate about caring for your dog I work a few part time hours and would be pretty flexible with my schedule. Able to spend quality time with your pet and give the attention I would care for your pet as you do. I have a condo and a great neighborhood for walks. They will be very comfortable and happy with me
About: I grew up with animals, and am experienced with taking care of cats and dogs. In Champaign, I have had four cat over different times and now I have a Doodle dog, who is a caring and loving gentleman! I am mostly available in the morning, late afternoons, and early evenings. Other times I spend my time studying at the library and trying to graduate toward my PhD degree. I live in a house and have lots of free space. We have a fenced yard with short fences that work for our large doodle just fine. However, if your fur baby is an escape artist, our fence might be too short and flimsy...
“Ishaan and Da Yeon obviously love animals. When they sent us pictures of our dog Bruce, he always had the biggest smile on his face. We will definitely be using them again in the future.”

“She knows what she’s doing! Took care of our dogs for four days without any issues and even took them on walks. She sent pictures and updates everyday which really took away any worries we had. Thank you Nina!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets for 30+ years. Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, et. al. I love caretaking and see it as a privilege to provide safe care for these wonderful beings while their family is away or need a break. I work from home and largely make my own schedule, so it is easy for me to tailor my day to fit the daily/weekly/monthly needs of those I am caring for. I ask many questions of clients to understand the environment that is best suited for their pet and take detailed notes. I can provide updates throughout the day, week, or whichever duration is best for my clients. I am a clear communicator and follow the needs outlined to me by the client.
“Shaliyah and Ajanya were AMAZING care providers for our Sugar. He is a young, energetic, sweet dog and I wanted to make sure he was in good hands while we were out of town for a few days. They arranged a meet and greet at a nearby park. Both Shaliyah and Ajanya were kind and patient, yet firm with Sugar when needed. They maintained communication with us throughout his stay, sending updates with pictures and videos. They fed him, played with him, cuddled him, even practiced some commands with him and treated him like part of the family. Sugar was able to make some new doggie buddies, which I had been hoping for. He enjoyed time with their lovelies, Snipper and Ava. I highly recommend Shaliyah and Ajanya as your next boarder/sitter team!”

“Alyssa stayed at our home for a week while we were away. She cared for our dog, 2 cats, fish, and hermit crabs! From what I could tell, all pets were fed and happy when we returned back home. Alyssa also sent photos throughout our trip. We could relax knowing our pets had proper supervision and care. It was a positive experience!”

About: I adopted Hanson, a retired guide dog, and he’s now an angel in heaven. He showed me how deep the bond with a dog can be and is the reason I started caring for pets. Over the years, I’ve looked after many dogs for friends and family. I give them lots of love and attention, and every pet I’ve cared for has grown really close to me. I treat each one like they’re my own. Pet care is part of my everyday life. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just spending quality time with them, caring for animals is something I naturally make time for. It’s not just a task—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to each day. I live alone, so pets get my full attention and a quiet, calm space to relax in. I make sure they feel safe and comfortable—whether that’s sticking to their routine, giving lots of playtime and cuddles, or just being nearby so they don’t feel alone. In a client’s home, I respect their space and follow any instructions closely to keep things familiar for their pet.

Another great visit with Gloria! Buddy always comes home happy, well cared for, and relaxed. So relaxed that he’s crashed and been asleep for the last two hours. I think maybe he had a really good time It’s such a comfort knowing he’s in loving, capable hands while we’re away. Thank you again, Gloria—we appreciate you so much and look forward to Buddy’s next stay!

Sarah was wonderful with my dog Lilia during her two-night stay! She was very friendly and took great care of her, including taking her on walks and sending me photo updates throughout the stay. It was so reassuring to know my dog was happy and in good hands. I would definitely book with Sarah again!

I’ve left my puppy with Quinesha twice now, and I’ll definitely be booking with her again! She’s super nice, and my puppy absolutely adores her. She also sends plenty of photos and daily updates, which gives me so much peace of mind while I’m away. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy sitter!

Katherine did an excellent job of taking care of my Winnie, a large, athletic dog who craves attention from people. Katherine kept her engaged, playing games with her and throwing the ball in the backyard. She clearly has a lot of experience with dogs. Winnie came home a very happy pup.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
