“We’re excited for Sophie to watch our cats in a few weeks, and this was a great practice night! She is friendly and clearly cares about the pets in her care. One of ours needs meds, and she handled it perfectly! We were incredibly comfortable with her caring for them.”

About: Beyond generic dog sitting for family as a kid or walking the dogs around my neighborhood (which I did), I currently own two small breed rescue dogs. One is a seinor with IVDD, and the other is a puppy with a luxating patella, so I've seen both ends of the scale. I am no stranger to giving animals insulin shots and medications, dealing with accidents of all kinds, animals with mobility issues, managing untrained dogs, and more! Also, I have fostered dogs before, so I am well aware of the proper way to introduce yourself to an animal, dog body language, warning signs, and stress signals. Ever since I've gotten my newest puppy, I've really been put through the wringer training wise. I've learned positive ways to shape behavior in dogs, even in a short amount of time, and I would never dream of using aversive behavior management methods unless that is currently part of the dog's training plan. For cats, I’ve spent years growing up with and living with cats. I’m experienced with giving cats syringe medications and shots. Scooping litter and cleaning up accidents is no big deal around here! I work part time, and I have a vehicle, so I’m able to attend to your pet’s needs whenever necessary. I’m used to waking up at dawn for walks, and I am certainly no stranger to a middle of the night potty break. Your pet’s needs will always come first. All boundaries are always respected for animals. I’m a stranger in their home, and I am very aware of that. My job is to keep them fed and walked and safe. I love animals, so I’m always happy to give pets or cuddles, but only if they ask.
“Very communicative and took great care of my cats! I needed a sitter last minute and it was super easy to make a plan and get instructions to her. She made sure they were comfortable and got some love and attention while i was out of town.”

“We had a sick cat situation that involved a lot more instructions than usual. Nicole was totally on board, was on watch for symptoms, and she took good care of them! Thanks a bunch!”

About: I have two friendly cats and backyard chickens. I have had cats and dogs for most of my life. I go trail hiking at local forest preserves and state parks 2-4 times a week and would love to take your dog with me! I only have one dog guest at a time (unless they are from the same home) so I can give them lots of care and attention and provide you with regular updates and photos. You will know your pet is being well looked after. My goal is to make your pet feel like it is on a fun vacation while you are on a fun vacation. Nothing makes me happier than dogs I've cared before, coming back and pulling on their leash to come into my house on their next visit! I only work half-time so I have plenty of time for pets. I know how important your pet is to you and I'm very responsible. My dog guests are walked at least three times a day including a walk or hike of 30 minutes or longer. They are also able to use my fenced in backyard when the chickens are locked up for the night .
“David was great with Roxy. She looked forward to his visit each day and we were able to relax knowing she was in good hands. The pictures during his visits reassured us that she was well cared for. We are planning to use David to care for Roxy in the future.”

“Kenzie was helpful watching our cats on short notice. Our three cats all have very distinct personalities and we're happy and healthy when we got back home from our trip”

About: Long time pet owner of a Yorkie who recently passed at the age of 16 and rescued cat for 14 years. Senior and puppy/kitty care. I just retired. I have a part-time after school job so I have day time, overnight and some weekends available to come to your home. I recently lost my Yorkie of 16 years. She was loved and taken care of and I'll take good care of yours in your home
About: I love love love dogs! Being a dog auntie lets me get my dog fix without the commitment! I have had three cats that had been rehomed at least once prior to coming to live with me, so I am a cat autnie too! But dogs (esp. BIG DOGS) have my heart. To get my dog fix, I often care for my friends' dogs, walking, feeding, and pet sitting them. I have lived with, cared for and feel comfortable with a variety of breeds, small and large. My favorites have been the Great Pyrenees and the Black Labs. 🐕🦺💙🧡 I work from home and could walk doggos before and after work and on my lunch hour. Happy to work from your place if pet sitting. I have a daughter with autism and I have learned how important it is to see and listen to her and try to understand her needs. I think animals are the same way. They can tell when we aren't paying attention. I try to make sure im connecting with animals in the same way I might with a small person who is seeking my attention.
About: I grew up taking care of our family dogs, cats, birds, fish, guinea pigs, snakes, tarantulas, and horses. With my love and closeness to animals growing up, I continued into the veterinary medicine world after high school and have worked within clinic settings for the past 7 years! I am experienced and comfortable with administering both oral and injectable medications, bathing, and much more. I plan to become a certified veterinary technician as well in the near future. While I do work full time during the week, I am still often able to accommodate multiple visits a day due to my lunch break! I don’t mind an early morning to make sure your pets are taken care of before the workday either. Because mid-day visits are on my break, the time I will be available for these visit will be dependent on the travel time. As my apartment is too small to accommodate any dogs or additional cats, I would be treating your home with the utmost respect! It’s your (and especially your pet’s) safe space, and that needs to be protected. I will always clean up after any messes if they are made by your pet and reach out to make sure you’re aware!

“My German Shepherd dog fell in love with Tanya at first sight! She's obviously loves animals. Everything went great, will definitely book Tanya again! Appreciated the photos of my dog and cat while I was away!”

“Alicia was very attentive to the needs of our dog and two cats. She kept us updated on all their antics and mischief over the week we were gone. We recommend her and would hire her again!”

“Sarah was a wonderful pet sitter! We got updates and pictures, which were not expected but totally appreciated. She was communicative, easy to work with, and so very kind to our doggies, even spending a little extra time with them. We couldn’t be happier with her!”

About: Greetings! First - thank you for considering me and my services. I have been a pet owner all my life, and have been the proud parent of hamsters, fish, cats, dogs, and a rabbit! I'm also a responsible house sitter, having been both a homeowner and a renter, I understand the value of not just your pets, but your possessions, your mail and plants, the cozy space of your home, the relationships with your neighbors. I have provided these services for friends and families for most of my life. I have always loved animals and I have always owned pets, been a member of dog parks and puppy play groups, and I volunteered for the Champaign Humane Society for many years. I have also had pets with medication needs, so I am experienced in that area. For years I also groomed my own dogs, and I know that each pet has its own needs, preferences, and personalities. Finally, I recently lost my dog of 15 years, and although I now live somewhere that does not allow pets, I need animals in my life! From my own experience of being a Rover customer for many years, I also know how important it is to pet sit within your home with no disruption to your pet's routine or surroundings. I'm retired, so I can be flexible with your scheduling needs for both your pets and your home. I'm both an early riser and a night owl, so whatever works for you also works for me! I have been both a renter and homeowner, so I know how valuable your pets are, but also your cozy home, your plants, mail, and relationships with your neighbors. I have owned a bunny, hamsters, cats and dogs. But I also have an affinity for birds and reptiles. I have provided services for friends and family most of my life, now I just want to bring in a bit of extra cash to supplement social security. I'm also mainly a homebody, so if your home or your pets need extra care or a lot of time, I'm fully available.

Aric was absolutely wonderful with my guinea pigs! He is incredibly trustworthy, reliable, and a great communicator, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It’s clear that he genuinely loves animals and takes caring for them seriously. I felt completely comfortable knowing my guinea pigs were in his care, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and dependable pet sitter!
David was amazing! We will definitely use him again. He is exceptionally responsive, and a great communicator. We got detailed updates and lots of photos. We had to ask for an additional visit on very short notice and David was very accommodating, and able to help. All in all one of the best Rover experiences.
Xiaotong is an amazing cat sitter. She was very communicative and always kept me in the loop with my cats. I left her some written and verbal care instructions which were all followed perfectly. Her rover cards were very detailed and came with plenty of photos. My cats decided to rummage through a couple of my trash bins, something they have never done before. Xiaotong was very understanding, going above and beyond cleaning up after my cats' mess. I would definitely book again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Urbana. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
