I currently work at home and can accommodate pets while I am working or before or after work. I like being able to be more flexible if watching a pet in my home, the pet gets more attention while I am working but I also don't mind visiting the pet in the comfort of their own home. I have done a combo also of watching during day at my house and taking the pet home to where they are more comfortable at night and that has also worked out well.

I need to be aware of any behavior challenges or special accommodations that may be necessary. I owned a special needs elderly dog on medications and am comfortable with most situations. Working in veterinary medicine I am familiar with most health conditions and situations.
A typical day
I love going on walks in beautiful, interesting areas. Also playing with mentally stimulating toys. I am a big fan of the toys that treats can be hidden in and puzzles.

I have a life long passion for animals. This passion drove me to obtain my Bachelor's in Animal Science in May 2016. I currently have 1 dog, two cats, a gecko, two guinea pigs, and several fish including pea puffers that are a part of our family. My degree as well as experience that I received on campus, such as working in a vaccination trial for cats that was designed to spay a female with a vaccine for feral cats to promote population control. This trial provided me with valuable skills. such as handling for laboratory tests and behavior training and enrichment. I have experience with animal behavior, training and biology. I also worked in veterinary clinics for over 2 years which has lead me to work at home currently as a veterinary assistant for Aspca animal poison control. The numerous animals in our family prompted me to sign up as a sitter. I am lucky to have someone care for my animals when I am away as not all animals can be boarded. I realize not all people are that lucky and I want to help. I have experience in administering medications (even insulin) and even did some enrichment when I worked in clinic. For example when everyone went home I would let out some of the well behaved animals boarding and they would follow me around as I was cleaning/finishing up for the day. One of my best buddies was a three legged cat that boarded often. I am also open to looking after farm animals and exotics as I have some and have cared for a bearded dragon and I have experience with farm animals during my time at U of I.. Working in toxicology, I have also learned from pet sitters mistakes when they call in with issues and as a result am extra cautious these days with well everything that could go wrong. I will treat your fur/ or scaley baby as my own and look forward to meeting them.
