“Megan has looked after Lola a couple times now and she always comes home a happy girl. Megan keeps us up to date regularly and replies quickly, she sends picture updates to reassure us if we have any questions or just want to check in on how Lola is. Highly recommend using Megan is you’re in the Sheffield area, she is fantastic!”

“Minjia did a really great job with Franklin and helped us feel at ease while we traveled. For close to a week she made sure to provide us with consistent updates and pictures/videos, and we really appreciated all the time, care and effort she put in.”

“Karen was an amazing dog sitter, so lovely and could tell they made our dog very comfortable. Really took the time to get to know our dog and what helps them feel safe and happy. Would highly recommend.”

“Lucy had another fabulous stay with Danielle and Ryan, who she has completely fallen in love with! They absolutely cater for both her bouncy and cuddly sides, and take great care of her. Due to challenging circumstances at our end, they offered to extend Lucy's stay, which was extremely appreciated. We have already rebooked!”

“We couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters than Ebony and Reuben! They were absolutely wonderful – friendly, caring, and professional from start to finish. They followed all of our instructions perfectly and kept us updated frequently, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Marlow was clearly very well looked after and happy in their care. Truly top-notch service – we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and caring sitters.”

“Soraya has been amazing with my doggy, left with her on a very cold and wet week they had lots of walks and chills too! Couldn’t be happier, great communication whilst trusting he’s in good hands!”

“I had the pleasure of having Nichola look after my little Teddy for one night this past Friday, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of care and attention he received. From start to finish, Nichola demonstrated a genuine love for animals and a commitment to ensuring Teddy's comfort and wellbeing. Nichola's communication was fabulous, providing regular updates and even sending adorable photos of Teddy enjoying his time under her care. This not only reassured me but also allowed me to relax and enjoy my time away, knowing Teddy was in capable hands. What stood out the most was Nichola's understanding Teddy's 'specific' needs (bed time water and snuggles!). She took the time to learn about his routine, dietary requirements, and favorite activities. It was evident that she went above and beyond to make Teddy feel at home. I highly recommend Nichola's dog sitting services to anyone seeking a responsible and caring pet sitter. Teddy had such a positive experience that I wouldn't hesitate to entrust Nichola with his care again in the future. Thank you, Nichola, for providing Teddy with a home away from home!”

“Liz is a wonderful sitter! She is so easy to coordinate drop off and pick up times with, and always sends photos and updates! We’ve had her watch our dog twice so far and wouldn’t hesitate to do so in the future!”

“Erin was the perfect dog host and provided regular updates and pictures throughout the 4 night stay. While my dog and Erins did not exactly see eye2eye, Erin handled it just fine. I would have no problem in recommending Erin.”

“Melissa looked after our dog Yogi overnight and was absolutely fantastic. Yogi had a lovely time with Melissa, Ben and their dog Merlin, and it was clear he felt right at home. We really appreciated the regular updates and photos throughout his stay, which gave us great peace of mind. Melissa was so good that we have already booked her again, highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been around dogs for as long as I can remember and have grown up with both large and small breeds, from German Shepherds to little terriers. I currently have a 6-month-old Sprocker Spaniel, so I’m very familiar with the energy, enthusiasm, and affection that dogs bring into our lives. Spending time with dogs is something I genuinely love, whether that’s taking them on long walks, playing with them, or simply making sure they feel comfortable and cared for. I treat every dog as if they were my own and understand how important it is for owners to know their pet is in safe, caring hands. Alongside caring for healthy, active dogs, I also have experience looking after senior dogs with mobility issues, ensuring they receive the patience, support, and extra care they need. I’ve cared for rescue dogs, helped build confidence in dogs struggling with social anxiety, and supported dogs with medical conditions, including epilepsy, always following owners’ guidance and routines closely. My experience with dogs of different ages, temperaments, and needs has helped me become adaptable, attentive, and confident in providing the individual care each dog deserves. I work from home three days a week, which gives me plenty of time and flexibility to provide attentive pet care throughout the day. I have my own dog, so caring for pets is already a big part of my daily routine. We enjoy three walks a day (one long walk and two shorter walks), along with playtime, training sessions, enrichment activities, and lots of cuddles. I like to pay close attention to each dog’s personality, energy levels, and mood so I can tailor their day to what they enjoy most and what makes them feel comfortable and happy. I provide a safe, loving, and calm environment where pets are treated like part of the family. I take the time to get to know each dog’s routine, preferences, and needs to help them feel secure and settled. Whether caring for pets in my home or in their owner’s home, I ensure they receive regular exercise, playtime, mental stimulation, fresh water, feeding according to instructions, and plenty of affection. I always monitor how a dog is feeling and adapt activities to suit their energy level and comfort, while maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment at all times.

“Lucy was brilliant with our Labradoodle Maisie for a short 3 night stay. Maisie recently lost her big sister so hasn’t been used to being an “only dog” so Lucy’s beautiful husky Indy, was great company for her. Lucy sent regular updates and pics/ videos showing how much fun Maisie was having on her walks and also how settled she was in their home environment. I would highly recommend Lucy and will definitely be asking her to look after Maisie again soon!”

“Leah was so lovely with our dog, Crumble! Kept us updated on his stay; kept up with his routine; made sure people were respectful when they approached him! Leah has a nice, calm energy which is perfect for Crumble. We have already booked her again for our upcoming holiday and wedding. Thank you!”

“Isla is amazing with Huxley, he loves his time with her so much. Isla is a great communicator, before and during his stay. She and her partner take amazing care of him. Would highly recommend.”

About: An experienced dog owner who has looked after many family & friends dogs too. I have experience with rescue dogs, anxious/nervous dogs, senior dogs and puppies. Available for home visits, walkies and day care in my own home. I have sadly just lost my beloved 16 year old Staffy and I'm looking to support local owners with dog care needs and fill my days with the tippy tap of paws again. I live extremely close to hillsborough park so days will be spent with cuddles, walks, free treats (as I also happen to work for Pooch & Mutt dog food remotely) or whatever your dog needs! I am happy to ensure your dog(s) are the only pets I sit at one time to make sure they are comfortable and get all the attention they deserve! I work from home 100% of the time (minus the odd business trip) and have flexi working opportunities. I can be available all day, any week day from 8am to 8pm and occasionally on weekends too. I am happy to do multiple home visits or walks a day so long as this is local. If your dog comes to our house for the day, I can fit in up to 3 walks to keep minds & bodies busy as well as plenty of play and rest time. I work for a dog food company so we're never short on treats here but I am of course happy to cater to your requests and requirements - you know what's best for your pet! Before any dog visits my home or I visit theirs, I'd appreciate a meet and greet so we can all get to know eachother and build trust. I have a secure fenced garden. There are steps leading up to our property but i am used to carrying those dogs who struggle with mobility up them & also have a hoist to help.
“Nam and her partner had our Pocket Bully, Otis for a week while we went away and we couldn’t have asked for 2 better people to have him. He loved his time with them and our mind was put at ease with the regular updates and photos. Thank you so much for having him and loving him like we do. So glad we are keeping in touch 😊”

“Savina was wonderful with my husky, especially during the heat. They showed great knowledge including first aid for dogs and I was kept up to date with photos, I felt so at ease! I would highly recommend Savina and definitely would book again :) thank you x”

“What can I say but highly recommend this lovely family! I was sent various pictures and videos day and night of walking, eating, sleeping, playing and resting. Luna definitely enjoyed her stay and was very well looked and cared after with lots of love. . Much better way than taking our fur babies to kennels. Highly recommend.”

“Sarah was fantastic with our rescue greyhound, Cora. This was our first time leaving her with a sitter so we were a little nervous, but Sarah put our minds at ease with photos and updates. We also felt very comfortable leaving Cora with Sarah because of her many years of sighthound experience and calm demeanor. Her own greyhound Daisy is also wonderful around other dogs and was patient with Cora's toy and bed theft! Would definitely recommend for sighthounds and non-sighthounds alike!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Sheffield
Our Labrador had a fabulous week with Abi. So good I’m not sure he wanted to come home! Everything about this booking was excellent. Abi responded promptly to messages when we were arranging dog sitting and she kept us updated with information and pictures every day while we were away. She clearly knows dogs well and was able to put our dog at ease immediately they met. The house and garden are a safe environment for any dog and there are lovely walks from the doorstep. Abi took the time to find out all about our dog and his likes and dislikes to ensure he had a great stay. We will definitely book with Abi again.

Ana was brilliant with our nervy puppy, Lola, and was able to accommodate us at short notice! She was happy to have a couple of meet & greets with us so Lola could get used to her, it was her first time being away from all of our family. I think she dedicated all her time to Lola, making her feel welcome, and she kept us updated with photos and videos.

Couldn’t have left Ralph in a safer, more reassuring space than with Hallie and her lovely family and her lovely Snow! Very communicative, always keeping us in the loop with regular updates how Ralph was getting on, lots of beautiful pictures! Tended to his every need and more. Honestly, thank you so much for all your love and care for our little man. A very happy dog returned to us! Will definitely be using Hallie in the future!

Savina is a lovely sitter who took time to ask questions and get to know Seb for his first stay, including meeting her gorgeous lab Leo in advance. She put a lot of effort into helping Seb settle, and he had plenty of exercise during the stay. Great communication too. Thanks!

This was our first time using Rover, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Communication was excellent throughout, giving us complete peace of mind. Oz absolutely loved his stay with Ebony, Rueben, Shaz, and Mark, and was clearly in cuddle heaven! He was treated like one of the family, and we came home to a very happy boy. We wouldn't hesitate to book again—highly recommended! Thank you so much.

Karolina looked after Jarvis for 8 nights. Unfortunately Jarvis caught a vomiting bug a day or so before we left him with her but she handled this very well, took him to the vet when he struggled to get better and kept us informed. She obviously loves dogs and we are very, very happy with the care Jarvis received and all the photos we received. I recommend Karolina unreservedly and can only hope she is available next time we need a sitter.

Soraya has been a lovely carer for Paco, wanting to establish good rapport from the start and understanding his needs and wants. She's been communicative over the days she's looked after him and has followed all the indications we gave her. Paco loved staying with her!

Wilson really enjoyed his trial stay with Sam and her family. Wilson can be a bit anxious in new places at first but Sam was absolutely brilliant with him. We also received photos during the stay which really helped put our minds at ease! We have already booked a longer stay for Wilson next month and have no doubt that he will have the best time :)

Jenna took wonderful care of Cole. She was very easy to communicate with, followed feeding and care instructions to a T, and sent plenty of updates (with photos) on their adventures. We had a wonderful weekend away knowing our pup was well cared for, and Cole will be sure to spend more time at Jenna's down the line.

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
