“John and his wife went above and beyond looking after Steve. True animal lovers. Steve had an amazing time and so glad we found them to look after him. Can't recommend enough. Will definitely use them again in future.”

“Sally was excellent with Baxter. During our first meet she had a long list of questions to ask including things I hadn’t even thought of! She sent photo updates every day, including out on daily walks. When we went to pick him up he was so relaxed he was fast asleep on the sofa and didn’t wake up when we first got there. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Sally again!”
“I am just incredibly grateful and happy I found Joseph C. We had a really big dilemma finding someone to look after our miniature schnauzer ahead of a week’s holiday planned in September. My mind was already at ease when we went to meet her - Lola was so relaxed when we went there (she can usually barks when she first meets someone but she didn’t at all!!) While we were away, we were sent updates and I can clearly see from the images that Lola had a great time. 5 stars from me - thank you for looking after our baby 🥰”

“Megan was amazing, this was a hard leave for me due to Tilly having a few health issues over the last few weeks. I chose Megan due to Tilly been the only animal there. Tilly was so happy when she came home I was updated daily on her feeding been happy as well has her medication and if she had any seizures. Thank you again Megan”

“Danielle had a great rapport with Phife straightaway at our meet up before the booking, so when it came to our weekend away we felt really comfortable and it all went well for Phife, communication was great too!”

“We couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters than Ebony and Reuben! They were absolutely wonderful – friendly, caring, and professional from start to finish. They followed all of our instructions perfectly and kept us updated frequently, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. “Leah has been amazing from start to finish and I would thoroughly recommend her. She was great at communicating and very professional with her approach to all of the training that Billy is still needing because he is still so young. I was very happy leaving Billy in her capable hands and am already planning some more dates in the future.”

“Karen offered Sodapop a relaxing and secure environment for her overnight stay. Karen is clearly an experienced and knowledgeable dog lover and we felt extremely comfortable leaving Sodapop in her care. Definitely recommend Demi to any dog owners who after leave there pets whilst they are away. Thank you Demi I think Kia would like to come back for another good time.”

“Anna and Liam took such good care of Cooper. He loved every minute of being with them. I can’t praise or thank them enough for the care they gave him and for going out of their way when I made a mistake with his food. He was in such good hands, they love dogs and sent us lots of updates and pictures so that we knew how he was doing while we enjoyed our holiday. Will definitely be booking again.”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Rotherham
Mason has had Goober twice now each time Mason has cared for him so well. The second time he bounced into Mason with excitement. This always makes me happy. Mason has always been in contact with any questions and letting us know how he is. I would highly recommend Goober loved his walks and visit to the pub!

Jack has been absolutely amazing with cassie. Lots of photos and videos to put my mind at ease as I was nervous about leaving her. She is a rescue who we've only had 2 months and she has had a really rough start in life. Was worried she would think shes being abandoned again. She has had lots of walks, cuddles and taken over his bed! Not even home from our holiday yet but already planning her next visit to him along with her big sister. 100% would recommend Jack to look after your fur babies!

- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
