About: Me and my husband, Alex, are retired and have lots of time and energy to devote to dog walks and play. We have a dog of our own so are used to flexing our day around walks and feeds. We have always had dogs and have plenty of time and attention to devote to guests. My husband and I are retired but very active. We walk our own dog often so happily welcome more company. We live in a small village with fields all around. We have a fenced garden and our own dog is laid back and friendly. Lots of space and walks on offer in a lovely rural setting.
“Absolutely brilliant. Katrina is so welcoming and she clearly loves dogs, she is great with them. My dog settled really well. She had lots of walks and attention. I felt at ease from the start leaving my dog for the day. I’ll definitely be using Katrina’s dog sitting service again.”

“Our first time using this service and our dog staying with anyone who isn’t family. Jess made myself and Dolly feel so at ease from the first time we met prior to the stay. Jess sent updates throughout the weekend and I know Dolly had the best time. We will definitely be using Jess again in the future.”

About: We're a devoted couple with over 30 years of experience in caring for, walking, and training dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Dogs have always been at the heart of our home, and we treat every furry guest as one of our own. Over the years, we’ve had the joy of raising and nurturing two beautiful litters of puppies—each one receiving the highest level of care, socialisation, and love before heading off to their forever homes. To this day, we remain in close contact with every one of their new families, receiving regular updates and photos, even five years later. It’s these long-lasting relationships and heartfelt connections that reflect the level of care and commitment we bring to every dog we look after. Whether it’s a playful puppy or a wise senior, we create a calm, structured, and loving environment where your dog can feel safe, relaxed, and truly at home. As a couple working different shift patterns, we’re able to provide full-day care and flexible support to suit a wide range of schedules. Your dog will never be short of company, cuddles, or attention! We both love walking and spending time outdoors, and we’re lucky to be surrounded by beautiful countryside—perfect for relaxed strolls or more adventurous outings, depending on your dog’s needs. We have a secure, fully fenced back garden that offers a safe space for play and fresh air. We regularly care for our daughter’s two dogs when she travels overseas, so our home is always ready to welcome furry guests. We’re also happy to offer overnight stays for crate-trained dogs, providing them with a calm, comfortable, and supervised environment throughout their visit.

About: I’ve had dogs all of my life from staffies to Yorkshire terriers and my current dogs are two boarder collies so if you have your dogs stay with us they won’t be short of walks 😊 I do currently work part time and finish work most days at 4pm and usually can swap my days off in the week so I can fit around you. I have a very long fenced garden with a grass area and a very cool house perfect for summer dogs are allowed on my sofa so they can get nice and comfy we have pleantly of toys to play with aswell if you have your dogs stop over with me I can separate them from mine overnight with mine upstairs or vice versa
“Rupert is my absolute world, and after he was diagnosed with IVDD and had emergency surgery last year, I am extremely wary of who I trust him with! I've followed Ella's story on Instagram for quite a while, with her IVDD survivor frenchies, and can clearly see how much she absolutely adores her dogs. As soon as we turned up, Rupert was happy and running around with Ella's two frenchies who welcomed him into their gang straight away. Ella also sent me lots of updates as to what Rupert was up to, which really put me at ease. She went out of her way to make sure I didn't worry. I would recommend Ella in a heartbeat ❤️”

About: I have 3 years experience as a dog walker before I made the career change to be a police officer. I still remain serving and want to give my extra love for animals around my full time job. I have experience with both elderly and puppies of all temperaments and sizes. I specialise in larger breeds and not put off by larger sizes as it’s more dog to love! I have an animal care qualification as well as additional training covering pet first aid, dog nutrition and training. I’m currently working full time however my shifts allow me to be flexible on my days off, and the priority will be your pet! ! I have a fenced rear garden and access to a nearby secure dog field which I have used in the past for exercise and enrichment. The house is a free rein for animals and they are not restricted from going on beds/sofas.
About: Have owned a dog all my life, and currently have dachshunds. Very experienced with small-medium breeds, but keen to gain experience with larger dogs :) Currently working part time from home so have a lot of availability. Can offer home visits, walks and overnight boards at your home or mine :) I have a secure garden with high walls and also have 4 cheeky dachshunds to keep your dogs company! If it’s a home visit you are wanting then I will follow your rules and look after your fur baby just as you want me to :)
About: My self and my partner Christian are dog lovers and offer a very friendly , loving and safe place for your dog to stay for the day or to board. Between us, we work from home full time and so your pup will never be on his or her own. We also have a little dog Freddie, who is two! He is very social and friendly with all dogs. Having Freddie since a puppy means that we have fully safeguarded the house . Our garden is fully secure and we are cautious with everything so your pet would be in very safe hands. In the family we also have a very lovely 9 year old child who also loves dogs and is very gentle with them. There are days when the house is child free however should your dog prefer this or not get on with children so please do get in touch to enquire as we don’t have children full time. We have looked after friends and family pets in the past which we really enjoyed doing , leading us to get our own little puppy. We have also dealt with dogs with additional needs with medication and special diets so we have experience in this area . Dogs are part of the family and are treated as such, they are allowed on the sofa and bed (unless you have a different routine which we would stick to). We are both very reliable professionals and would only look after one (or two if from the same family) pup at the same time so your dog would get alot of love and attention! Feel free to get in touch for a meet and greet. We work from home Monday - Friday and can be flexible . We would stick to the routine needed for your pet as closely as possible Fenced garden with locks on the gate, a gate on the front door for extra safety and a stair gate to make sure we know where the pups are! Dogs are allowed upstairs but we like to make sure we know where they are so they are safe and not getting into mischief :)

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Bassetlaw
Verna could not have been more helpful and accommodating looking after my rather senior black lab Sapper. She sent photos and bulletins from time to time, and it was clear that Sapper was really having a lovely time. She came back happy and relaxed and obviously attached to Verna and I will have no hesitation in making the same arrangements again :)

Our first time using this service and our dog staying with anyone who isn’t family. Jess made myself and Dolly feel so at ease from the first time we met prior to the stay. Jess sent updates throughout the weekend and I know Dolly had the best time. We will definitely be using Jess again in the future.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
