Rusty was made so welcome with Lorna . She is a very lovely young lady who loves the dogs she looks after. Rusty is only 3 years 8 months old and it is the first time he has been left with a sitter. I was very comfortable and happy to leave him with Lorna. I will definitely book with Lorna again !

Laura and her boys, welcomed Izzy into their home as one of their family. Izzy is a scaredy-cat and Laura was so patient with her and accommodated Izzy’s needs. I love how Laura only looks after one dog at a time, this really suits Izzy, who likes to be the centre of attention at all times 😂. We will definitely look to rebook with Laura in the future and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending doggy boarding.

About: We've all loved dogs for as long as we can remember. Growing up, both my and my partner's families always had dogs, and more recently we had our own beloved dog who was a huge part of our lives. Sadly, we lost him, and while we miss him every day, we're not quite ready to welcome another dog into our family permanently. Pet sitting feels like the perfect way to share the love and care we have to give while helping other owners feel confident their dogs are in safe hands. As a reliable, caring family, we'll treat your dog with the same kindness, attention and affection that we gave our own - whether that's plenty of walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply making them feel comfortable and at home. Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine. My partner and I both work from home, so there's always someone around throughout the day to provide company, care, and regular toilet breaks. We also have three responsible teenagers who love spending time with dogs, so they'll receive plenty of attention and affection. As a family, we enjoy getting outdoors and going for walks, so your dog will have lots of opportunities for exercise, play and companionship. We'll make sure they feel safe, loved and part of the family while they're with us. Your dog's safety, comfort and happiness are our top priorities. At our home, they'll have access to a secure, fully fenced garden for supervised play and fresh air, as well as plenty of space indoors to relax with us. We'll follow your dog's usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, play, medication (if required), and any special instructions. We know every dog is different, so we'll make sure they receive the individual care, attention, and affection they need to feel settled and at home.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We can’t recommend Amy enough! They were absolutely amazing with our energetic cocker spaniel puppy, Rocko. From the moment we dropped him off, it was clear he was in great hands. They went above and beyond to make sure he was happy, entertained, and well cared for — plenty of walks, playtime, and cuddles! We got regular updates and photos, and Rocko looked like he was having the time of his life. He came home tired, happy, and clearly adored his stay. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our little whirlwind! 🐾

About: I have always been around dogs from been a young child, My family have always had dogs ranging from large to small. I am currently enrolled on a dog training course which is due to begin in the next few weeks. I also dog walk with local dog walking groups every week and look after my friend and family's dog (Again, large and small). I enjoy learning about each breed and there quirks and I am able to behave consistently with a dog who may require more of this approach . I am currently a full time parent to a SEN child, so around school hours my time is spent caring for my little one. I like to be out walking during the day as this helps calm my busy mind, I enjoy caring for animals as I find this so rewarding and been outdoors. I had to give up my career and looking after animals is one thing I thoroughly enjoy and take something from, other than been a mum! I have a fully enclosed garden, and close by my home is close access to fields and TPT where I enjoy walking. I have 1 small nurtured male Lhasa apso who is friendly and well behaved. Providing the dog is house trained, they would be allowed to roam my home freely (Unless otherwise requested). They would be treated in a home from home experience.

About: I’m a qualified Veterinary Care Assistant with over six years of veterinary experience, and caring for animals has always been my passion. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide range of species, breeds, and temperaments, giving me the confidence and knowledge to care for all kinds of pets. Whether they’re nervous, anxious, reactive, or simply full of energy, I understand that every animal is unique and deserves patient, compassionate care. At home, I have one dog, three cats, and horses, so animals have always been a huge part of my everyday life. I genuinely love spending time with them and treat every pet in my care as if they were my own. My Home My home is safe, secure, and fully pet-friendly, providing a calm environment where your pet can relax and feel at home. One of the reasons I decided to offer pet care is because I know exactly how it feels to leave your own dog behind. Whenever I’ve looked at kennels for my dog, I’ve always worried that she wouldn’t receive the same love, attention, and affection she gets at home. It made me feel anxious, and I know many owners feel exactly the same. That’s why I wanted to create a true home-from-home experience. When your pet stays with me, they’ll be loved, cared for, kept safe, and treated like part of the family. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your pet is happy, secure, and receiving the individual attention they deserve. My Services Pet Boarding Your pet will enjoy a comfortable home environment with plenty of love, attention, and companionship. Dogs will be walked twice a day (tailored to their age, health, and routine) and will have lots of supervised playtime in our secure garden. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playing fetch, or simply relaxing with company, I’ll make sure they have a happy and enjoyable stay. Doggy Day Care A fun, safe, and caring environment where your dog can play, socialise, relax, and enjoy plenty of attention throughout the day. Drop-In Visits Ideal for feeding, toilet breaks, companionship, playtime, administering medication if needed, and ensuring your pet is comfortable while you’re away. I know how much your pets mean to you because I feel exactly the same about mine. I’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your beloved companion is safe, loved, and in experienced hands. I’m currently on maternity leave, which means I have plenty of time to dedicate to caring for your pets and providing them with the attention, companionship, and care they deserve. I offer a flexible schedule and can accommodate pet care throughout the week, including weekdays and weekends, subject to availability. Every pet has their own routine, so I do my best to work around their usual schedule to help them feel comfortable and settled. Whether you need pet boarding, doggy day care, or drop-in visits, your pet will receive lots of love, attention, playtime, and regular updates while they’re in my care. If you have specific dates or requirements, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—I’ll always do my best to accommodate you. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and wellbeing will always be my top priority. I care for every pet as if they were one of my own, ensuring they receive plenty of love, attention, exercise, and companionship throughout their stay. My home has a secure, enclosed garden where dogs can safely play, explore, and enjoy supervised outdoor time. I’m also fortunate to have access to plenty of surrounding land, making it the perfect setting for long, enjoyable walks tailored to your dog’s age, fitness level, and individual needs. I always take the time to get to know each pet’s personality and routine, whether they love being active, enjoy playing games, or prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medication, and any special requirements, so your pet feels as comfortable and settled as possible. With my background as a qualified Veterinary Care Assistant and over six years of veterinary experience, you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in experienced, caring hands. My aim is to provide a genuine home-from-home experience where every pet feels safe, secure, loved, and happy while you’re away.

About: I have had dogs all my life. As a child and then my own when I left home. All rescue, from puppies to older dogs. I work part time but can fit my hours around different days to suit what I’m doing. The day starts early with a good walk then home for breakfast. Playtime and cuddles, then out again at tea time. There is a local park just across from my house and also fields and woodland if they require longer walks. There is just myself and my husband at home now. Our children are grown up. I have a good size garden which is fenced and private. I allow dogs anywhere in the house, they can sleep wherever they feel more comfortable, the bed if they want, but equally I would respect what you wanted. I will only feed your dog what you provide, and treats will only be what they normally have, unless you tell me different.

Maria was great with communication and we left our dog in good hands for 12 days with Maria when we went abroad for a family holiday. We had the opportunity to meet Maria and her dog Bambi at their home before making the booking to ensure it was a good fit for both sides and to discuss any concerns. Received plenty of photos and updates and on returning home our boy is very happy and has been well looked after, definitely recommend and will use Marias services again if needed

We could not be happier with the love and care Carol and Simon gave to our 15 year old Border Terrier when he stayed with them last week. As an older dog he doesn't walk as far, and he has had a very sad year losing his brother a few months ago. Carol and Simon welcomed him as if he were there own dog, they gave him so much wonderful attention, lots of walks and cuddles and sent us photos everyday of their adventures together. Thank you so much. I have no hesitation in recommending them

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Barnsley

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Barnsley on Rover is £33.33 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,532 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Barnsley. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
