Jack was fantastic with Freddie. We got regular updates of their time and Fred came back exhausted after a couple of adventures. We’ll definitely be using Jack again and I’m sure Fred will be excited to stay again!

Luke is my go-to boarder for Lola. He’s looked after our beagle three times now and has been fantastic every time. Beagles aren’t the easiest breed — lots of curiosity, plenty of opinions, and a powerful nose — but Lola is always happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for with Luke. It’s obvious she’s comfortable with him, which gives us complete peace of mind. Reliable, friendly, and great with dogs — highly recommended.

Lovely family and really cared for my Iris bedlington terrier. Sent lots of photos which really reassured us as it was the first time we have left her behind and was quite nervous and sad about leaving her. Can't recommend Kirsty and the rest of her wonderful family and will definitely be using their services if and when we next dare go away!

What a lovely family who have looked after Mabel like she was their own. I have had some amazing updates of the adventures Mabel was taken on and she looked so happy on them all. When I went to pick Mabel up she was wondering round the house like she lived there, no better feeling than knowing your dog feels safe. I would use Emma and her lovely family to look after Mabel again without thinking twice. Thank you all for the fab experience.

Helena is so good! She is having my Rottie puppy at the end of April for a weekend and has worked with me to do lots of settling days. She slept there last night for the first time and Helena was brilliant. I always worry that she’s a lot for people but Helena Makes me feel at ease and I know my pooch loves her time with her! Comes home shattered from all the walking and playing! Thankyou Helena!

Anca is a super friendly, super helpful and lovely dog sitter. We had never left our pup with anyone before and we weren't sure what to expect but Anca was brilliant. We got regular updates and photos and she was very reassuring. She was also extremely understanding when our train was cancelled and we were later getting back than we had originally planned. Best of all, our dog came home happy, healthy and well looked after. Would highly recommend Anca's services.

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover and experienced dog owner with many years of hands-on experience caring for my own dogs. I currently have two small, friendly dogs of my own, so I understand just how important it is to find someone you can genuinely trust with a much-loved member of the family. I’m patient, attentive and very happy to adapt to each dog’s individual personality and routine, whether that means leisurely sniff-filled walks, playtime, plenty of cuddles or simply some quiet company. I’m also comfortable caring for older dogs and dogs who prefer a gentler pace. Your dog’s safety and wellbeing will always come first, and I’m happy to follow their normal feeding, walking and care routines closely. I’ll also send regular photos and updates so you can relax knowing they’re happy and well cared for. My schedule is flexible, which allows me plenty of time to give your dog the attention and care they need. I’m available for regular or occasional walks, drop-in visits, doggy day care and overnight boarding. I’m happy to work around your dog’s existing routine wherever possible, including their usual walk, meal and rest times. I live with my partner Joe, who loves animals too and may occasionally help me with pets staying in our home. He is registered with Rover as an additional caretaker so your pet is always in safe hands. I have a secure, fenced garden and two friendly small dogs of my own. Any visiting dog would be introduced to them carefully, and I’m very happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand to make sure everyone is comfortable. I’ll follow your dog’s normal feeding, walking and sleeping routines and any specific care instructions you provide. Dogs in mine and Joe’s care will receive plenty of attention and will always be treated as part of the family.

About: Hello, I’m Leila! 💕 I’ve been around dogs for most of my life and have over 15 years of experience caring for them 🥰. I grew up with my English Springer Spaniel, who lived to 14 and was a very active, playful boy with separation anxiety, so I’m comfortable caring for dogs with their own routines and individual needs. For the past two years, I’ve also been mum to Teddy, a Romanian rescue who is full of energy! Living with him has taught me a lot about understanding dog behaviour, being patient, managing triggers and making sure dogs get the right balance of exercise, enrichment and downtime 🐾🦦 I’m comfortable with energetic, nervous, anxious and rescue dogs and understand that every dog is different, beautiful and unique in their own way🐕🐩 I also have experience caring for friends’ and family members’ dogs. I think this will also be very beneficial for Teddy, he is always looking for new playmates, or a senior could also teach him new confidence ☺️. I work remotely full-time, so I’m able to fit walks, playtime and check-ins around my working day and provide plenty of company when caring for your dog 🐕‍🦺🦴 I work remotely full-time, Monday to Friday, which means I’m around at home for much of the day and can easily fit walks, playtime, cuddles and toilet breaks around my work. I’m flexible with boarding, house sitting, walks and drop-in visits, including evenings and weekends 🐶 I have a secure, enclosed garden and a comfortable home where your dog can feel relaxed and at home. As an experienced rescue dog owner, I understand the importance of patience, supervision and respecting a dog’s individual boundaries. I’ll follow your routines and instructions carefully and make sure your pet is safe, happy and well cared for ❤️

Amy had our miniature poodle Bruno while we were having a few days of holidays. She kept us updated and sent lovely pictures. Lots of walks and time out with other furry friends. The weather was quite wet hence muddy pows after the walks but she really looked after him keeping him clean. He also gets on very well with Coco. Highly recommended

About: Animals have been a huge part of my life from a young age. I’ve raised my own dogs from puppyhood through to adulthood as well as having cats and I regularly care for my brother’s Staffy, who is the sweetest soul! I was also fortunate to learn puppy training to a very high standard from an ex-police dog handler, giving me a strong understanding of dog behaviour, training and communication. I’m a very nurturing, patient and soft-hearted person who genuinely loves getting to know each animal’s individual personality. I understand that every dog is different so I’m happy to adapt my approach to suit their temperament, routine, boundaries and needs whether they’re energetic, nervous, independent, cuddly or somewhere in between. I absolutely love being outdoors and spend lots of my own time walking and hiking, so getting out for adventures with a four legged companion is something I’d genuinely enjoy!! I also have experience working in the care sector, so I’m confident and responsible when it comes to medication, routines and individual care needs. Ultimately, I want every animal in my care to feel safe, loved, stimulated and comfortable while their owners are away 🐶❤️ As a self-employed artist, I manage my own schedule, which gives me lots of flexibility and means I can dedicate my full attention to your pet when I’m pet sitting. I can plan my work around their routine rather than leaving them waiting around for me. I’m particularly flexible with boarding and longer stays and I love being able to give pets plenty of walks, playtime, enrichment, cuddles and company throughout the day. I’m happy to discuss individual routines and work around what your pet is used to at home. I live on the ground floor of a beautiful old mill with lovely high ceilings and a huge area of greenery surrounding the property. While this isn’t a private fenced garden, the green space is frequently used by local dog walkers, so there are plenty of opportunities for toilet breaks and fresh air throughout the day. As the area is not fenced, I would always keep dogs securely on a lead when outside unless their owner has specifically discussed a suitable alternative with me. I’m very attentive to each pet’s individual needs and will follow their usual routines, feeding instructions, medication and house rules wherever possible. I’ll make sure they have a calm, safe and loving environment, with plenty of company, walks, playtime, enrichment and cuddles. I’ll also keep owners updated and let them know promptly if I notice anything unusual about their pet.

Caroline and Daniel did an excellent job of looking after our greyhound, Lacey. After our initial visit to see them, we felt that Lacey fitted in really well with the whole family and their own dogs as well as the other boarding dogs. Caroline sent us loads of updates and pictures whilst we were away and we were able to keep up to date with Lacey whilst on holiday. Lucy and her dog Hallie were absolutely amazing with our two dogs Honey the pug and Aslan the golden retriever. She sent regular updates with photos, made sure they had frequent walks and play time and brain stimulation with lick mats. Hallie is a gentle giant who has so much patience with other dogs and puppies who may not know all the boundaries yet! Thank you SO much for putting our minds at ease while we were away - we will definitely book with you again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
