“Jack was absolutely brilliant with our cocker spaniel. He put my mind at rest when we visited and Red settled at his house immediately. We got daily updates and photos, showing Red was having a great time with him. He clearly knows how to deal with looking after other people's pets with patience, understanding and knowledge. I highly recommend him and Red can't wait for our next trip away.”

“Lovely family and really cared for my Iris bedlington terrier. Sent lots of photos which really reassured us as it was the first time we have left her behind and was quite nervous and sad about leaving her. Can't recommend Kirsty and the rest of her wonderful family and will definitely be using their services if and when we next dare go away!”

“Mabel has had the best time at Emma’s and I’ve had a lovely weekend knowing that she is so well looked after. Mabel loves all the family, so much so I had to force her to leave them when I picked her up ♥️ Thank you so much guys, we look forward to seeing you again.”

“This is my second time leaving Tilly with Luke and Karolina. They are very accommodating in all aspects of drop-off and pick-up and Tilly's care and needs. I was updated daily with how Tilly was getting on, and photos of Tilly were sent, which helped reassure me that she was fine. Tilly smelled amazing on pickup, having been bathed after a muddy outing; her coat looked amazing, and she looked happy, and I would not hesitate to leave Tilly with this lovely, caring couple for all my future dog-free holidays and events. They both come highly recommended by Tilly and me. Thank you!”

“Great communication prior to leaving my dogs with Anca, plus plenty of pics and updates whilst we were away. The dogs were happy and well looked after, they had a great garden to play in. Highly recommend especially if you're an anxious dog mum like me.”

About: After using Rover for my own dog care in the past I know how important it is to find the right home for your dog. I've had my own dogs for the last 10 years including a puppy and an older rescue. I love dogs of all shapes and sizes. I have experience with a variety of breeds and have also volunteered and received dogs trust training a couple years ago. I understand dogs are all different and I'm happy to support and match their routines to make them comfortable in my home. I love dogs of all kinds and live in a perfect village area with lost of public and private walks and dog friendly cafes! I work from home with my husband and can therefore be around all day as needed. I work from home Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays and do not work Tuesday's. I therefore have plenty of time for walks, toilet breaks and cuddles! I can fit my routine around the routine of the dog in my care, just reach out and let me know what's required. I have a fenced garden with bifold doors that can be left open for easy access to potter outside. I also have experience with providing dogs with medication.

“Hannahs communication was great and we received daily pictures from her to put us at ease as this was the first time using Rover. Reggie was happy to stay with her and her family which was a great comfort.”

I work Monday-Thursday in the office and I am available all day on Friday, weekday evenings and most weekends. I always try to be as flexible as possible. I live in a warm, pet-safe house with a comfortably sized, secure and fenced garden. Your pet would be well cared for with lots of attention and affection.

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Kirklees
Jack looked after Freddie for a week while we were away on holiday, and we couldn't have been happier with the experience. We received plenty of updates throughout the week, including photos from their adventures and lots of very sleepy post-walk snaps! One of the things that impressed us most was how quickly Freddie settled in. He can sometimes take a little while to feel comfortable in new surroundings, but it was clear from the updates that he felt right at home. That's a real credit to Jack and the environment he creates for the dogs in his care. We felt completely at ease knowing Freddie was being so well looked after, and it's obvious that Jack genuinely cares about the dogs he looks after. We've already booked Freddie in again for another stay later this year and will absolutely be using Jack again whenever we need a sitter. Highly recommended!

Caroline and Daniel did an excellent job of looking after our greyhound, Lacey. After our initial visit to see them, we felt that Lacey fitted in really well with the whole family and their own dogs as well as the other boarding dogs. Caroline sent us loads of updates and pictures whilst we were away and we were able to keep up to date with Lacey whilst on holiday. We will definitely be using them again and would thoroughly recommend to anybody else.

Lucy and her dog Hallie were absolutely amazing with our two dogs Honey the pug and Aslan the golden retriever. She sent regular updates with photos, made sure they had frequent walks and play time and brain stimulation with lick mats. Hallie is a gentle giant who has so much patience with other dogs and puppies who may not know all the boundaries yet! Thank you SO much for putting our minds at ease while we were away - we will definitely book with you again.

This was the 1st time we had left Braidy to go on holiday, so we were obviously a little apprehensive, but she has come home happy and contented, and has clearly loved being at Davina's! Thank you for taking such good care of Braidy! We would definitely be happy for her to be looked after by Davina in the future!

Alexandra was simply wonderful with our boys! She kept us posted, shared photos and was so reassuring throughout the 16 days she had them. We missed our boys but we were never concerned, which made such a massive difference as it was the first time we left them with a sitter. If anything, we wondered if the boys would want to come home with us as they seemed so happy in their ‘temporary home’!!!! I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to use Alexandra’s services again; she’s an absolute star and truly lovely person!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
