Amanda and John had our pug Hugo for our two week holiday. Communication from booking to picking our dog up at the end as been exceptional. We booked him in months in advance as this was the first time I used a dog boarder and first time using rover so I was a little hesitant to leave my dog with strangers. However, we met up with Amanda and John before the two week stay and all my worry went within a minute. When I was on holiday I got so many updates and photos of Hugo from Amanda. It really did put my mind at ease through the whole holiday. I really looked forward to getting them. Put a massive smile on my face. I couldn’t recommend Amanda and John enough as dog boarders. I will be booking again for my next holiday and for all my future holidays. Thankyou Amanda and John for treating Hugo like your own dog in your own home.

Christine & Ray are a lovely couple and Tyson felt relaxed almost immediately at our meet & greet. He was well looked after, including cuddles during his stay and it was evident in photos and videos that he was very happy. Highly recommended.

Dan is amazing. His genuine love for dogs really shows: he’s patient, caring, and always puts the dog’s needs first (even if that means playing fetch for the 100th time). Our rescue Belgian Malinois, Apple, stayed with him for two weeks over Christmas and he handled her reactivity and need for a slow introduction perfectly and Apple now runs toward Dan, which says everything. By the time we left for our holiday leaving her behind for the first time, all my worries were gone. We picked her up happy, clean, and with everything neatly packed. Dan is the best, highly recommend.

About: I have experience caring for a range of pets including dogs, cats, hamsters, and rabbits, and I always make sure each one feels safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I live in a house with a secure, medium-sized fenced garden, giving pets safe outdoor access whenever they need it. I’m also just a short walk from local woodland areas, which are perfect for giving dogs proper exercise and a change of environment. I work from home, so I’m able to provide regular attention, supervision, and care throughout the day. Whether your pet needs playtime, walks, or just a calm place to relax, I can adapt to their routine and needs I work from home in a flexible sales role, which means I’m around throughout the day to give pets plenty of attention, care, and supervision. I’m able to take regular breaks for walks, playtime, and feeding, and I’m available every day of the week, including weekends. Your pet won’t be left alone for long periods, and I can easily adapt my routine to suit their needs. My home is a calm, safe, and pet-friendly environment. I have a fully fenced garden for secure outdoor time, and there are no other pets or young children in the house, so your pet can relax without stress. I keep a clean and tidy space and always make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and well cared for. I’m attentive to each pet’s routine and needs, whether that’s quiet rest time or regular play and exercise. I also take care to keep the environment safe by securing gates, removing hazards, and supervising outdoor time.

About: I looked after a Basenji with severe separation anxiety and a tendency to bite for two years. During that time, I provided regular walks, drop-in visits, and dog sitting. I also grew up with my dog for 10 years :) I work as a freelance artist from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of quality time with pets. I’m available throughout the week and I can easily adapt to your pet’s usual routine. :) I don’t have any pets of my own, so my home is a calm and quiet environment, which can be especially beneficial for nervous or anxious pets. I live in a spacious house with a large garden where dogs have plenty of room to explore and play. I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Joanne was incredible! This was the first time we had left both of our dogs, the eldest being almost 10. Joanne was amazingly reassuring from the start, answering all of our questions and offering to meet before the stay. During the time Morris and Elsie spent with Joanne, we received lots of updates reassuring us that they were very well looked after and settled. We will absolutely book with Joanne again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Oldham on Rover is £31.05 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 3,000 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Oldham. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
