“Valeria is such a lovely dog sitter for my sausage dog Bella! I get regular updates and she really cares for Bella. Bella had also just had leg surgery and Valeria took precautions and kept an extra eye on Bella to make sure she didn’t jump etc! I am going to use Valeria again for regular dog care of my dog Bella. Thanks again! <3 x”

“Both were great, clearly love dogs and know what is needed to take care of a puppy properly! They did a couple of drop ins and had my puppy overnight, I got lots of updates and photos from them Would recommend!”

“Michael is as fantastic as ever, Tinkerbell loves him and he is her home from home! Can’t recommend him enough! We’ve already got a further three bookings with him (December 25, June and September 26) we work around his dates as he is so booked up! He is the best!”

“Sam always takes wonderful care of our Frank, he comes home happy and knackered every time. We’re very grateful to have somewhere for him to stay where we have no worries what he’s up to, especially as he’s a very nervous boy. Thank you Sam as always!!!”

“Hannah is awesome. I felt super secure leaving my dog with her and she was providing me with updates all the time. She is very sweet and kind to talk to and took extra care to understand my dog’s preferences and habits. Would recommend her to look after your friend a 100% of the time:)”

“Leda was absolutely amazing. She was very flexible as I had to ask her to take care of my dog Stanley for an extra day at short notice and she was very helpful and kind about the whole situation. Stanley really enjoyed his time and I’m sure he is looking forward to the next time already. Thanks a lot for everything absolutely recommend ! Xx”

“Our dog loves staying with Jyothi. We know he is very well looked after and happy. Jyothi is very communicative, sending pictures and videos on a regular basis. Jyothi and his partner are truly great hosts.”

“Amazing service! Newton and Jia are very friendly and accommodating. Newton went above and beyond to pick up Kylo. They ensured Kylo’s well being is to the upmost importance. Both are very attentive and reliable, following all of Kylo’s routines and made sure he felt loved and safe. It was clear he was well cared for and happy the entire time. We would definitely book Newton and Jia again to look after Kylo 💯😊”

“I am using Rover for a few years, and Graeme has been the best dog sitter I ever had while using Rover in both London and Manchester. Not only I received very regular updates, with photos, but i could see how happy the puppy was and how amazingly cared she was looked after. Graeme was very interested to know my puppy daily routines so she could be as she was at home. I will definitely request more regular bookings as I know that luna will be well looked after and cared with Graeme and his partner. A really big thank you.”

“The best of the best!! Couldn’t recommend Madeline and Will enough!!! The pupdates are always soo cute. Oslo is always in safe hands and has so much fun. His fav place to be when I have to go away! ❤️❤️❤️”

“Josh was nothing short of an absolute pleasure to loose with for looking after my boy, Ronnie! Josh was able to accommodate having Ronnie at short notice and was so friendly. Sean was absolutely amazing with the boys. Dante seemed to have an issue with his dew claw and Seam kept me informed of the issue and how it was progressing throughout the stay which offered me with some peace of mind. Dante wasn't keen on leaving Sean when I came to pick him up so it's a testament of how well he was looked after

Newton was fantastic with Gizmo. Communication was excellent throughout, and kept me updated every day with photos and videos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that Gizmo was very well looked after and happy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Newton and would definitely book again.

As ever, Michael was amazing with our dog. Michael had Domino during the recent heat wave. Not only was his home lovely and cool out of the sun, but Michael made sure to walk him well out of the heat of the day and keep him safe. We got loads of lovely pictures and updates and it was clear that Domino relaxes at Michael’s. Thanks so much!

Josh was nothing short of an absolute pleasure to loose with for looking after my boy, Ronnie! Josh was able to accommodate having Ronnie at short notice and was so friendly. Josh invited me and Ronnie over to do a meet and greet before having Ronnie stay with him. Josh sent me photos and videos of Ronnie whilst I was away. I would absolutely feel confident having Ronnie stay over with Josh again and would fully recommend him!

Froso is by far the best pet sitter we've ever had! She connected with Penny from the moment they met and gave her all the love, attention, and care she could have asked for. Penny enjoyed plenty of walks, endless cuddles, and looked so happy throughout her stay. What really gave us peace of mind were the regular updates, photos, and videos, which showed us just how well Penny was doing. It was clear that Froso genuinely cared for her as if she were her own. We couldn't recommend Froso more highly. Penny had the best time with her and honestly didn't want to leave when we came to pick her up which says everything! Thank you so much, Froso. We'll definitely be booking with you again!

Well it's safe to say that Reggie has two new besties! He had the best time on his holiday with Alice & James (he looked sad to leave them when I picked him up)! and they took such good care of him, sending loads of photos and pupdates throughout. We had a meet & greet beforehand which they were so accommodating about, and it was lovely for Reggie and I to meet Alice & James ahead of his stay. They asked lots of questions ahead of having him to make sure they knew as much about Reggie and his routine etc as possible, which made me instantly feel confident in them looking after him. Thank you SO much both of you and Reggie will be back soon xxx

Jayne was absolutely lovely. This was Buffy’s first stay with Jayne and she was so calm and welcoming allowing Buffy time to search her new environment and for us to feel assured about leaving Buffy. Jayne was attentive to our communication about Buffy and was able to offer specific updates when we picked her up. Buffy made a new friend with Jayne’s puppy Maggie. We had pictures and updates throughout the day which provided reassurance for us. Would definitely recommend Jayne and will book again. Thank you xx

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
