“Kwan and her family took wonderful care of Bailey for 3 days! They kept us updated with lots of photos and feedback, and Bailey settled into the environment very quickly. Everything was very clean and well cared for, they were also very thoughtful and accommodating throughout the stay, and we had absolutely no concerns while Bailey stayed with her. We’d definitely ask for Kwan’s help again in the future!”

“Absolutely can't fault Karen and Trevor, they provided outstanding care for Kallie. At the meet and greet Kallie warmed to them right away, which was a major positive, as she can be wary when meetingnew people. They provided detailed updates with photos, ensuring we felt at ease, and Kallie was so obviously happy with them. I highly recommend Karen and Trevor for anyone needing a reliable and caring dog sitter. We'll definitely bring Kallie back, availability permitting, thank you so much.”

“We are so grateful to Janet and Kevan for once again taking such wonderful care of Barney while we were away. It’s such a comfort knowing he is not only safe but genuinely happy in their company. They treat him like one of their own, taking him on lovely day trips and giving him a true home-from-home experience. Barney always comes back relaxed, content, and clearly well loved. It’s easy to see how much time, attention, and affection they give him. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Janet and Kevan to anyone looking for kind, reliable, and caring dog sitters. Thank you!!”

“Angela has been absolutely amazing with the whole process. Since the first contact I have felt at ease. Thank you for taking care of my little babies - they absolutely love you and will be getting in touch again very soon 😊”

“Bruna and family were so great with Cosmo! I got regular updates and videos which made me feel really reassured. He came home after such an active day a very happy chap. Highly recommend, so flexible and would 100% send Cosmo there again. Thank-you so much!”

“Divy had a great time during his boarding, plenty of cuddles and well looked after. Being a grayhound he has a couple of special needs which Karl and his wife were mindful of. I wholeheartedly recommend them as a sitter and am looking forward to leave Divy in their care next time we need to.”

“I couldn’t be happier with Wai Han! She was able to accommodate Porridge for a very last minute booking over christmas and she was absolutely wonderful. She’s incredibly lovely and professional, she kept me updated with photos and videos the whole week and it was clear Porridge had a wonderful time with her, her partner and her cat Saba - so I had complete peace of mind. I’d highly recommend her and will definitely be using her again in the future 😻🩷”

“Michael was brilliant, and the best care I've had for my dog yet! He and his family truly love dogs and that is reflected in the care they provided. Communication before and during the stay was brilliant and I could tell on pick up how comfortable my dog was with them. I would book again in a heartbeat!”

“Alice was amazing with Dexter. He had the best time. We got lovely pictures sent to us so we knew he’d settled straight away. He was played with lots and came back to us very tired but a happy little bear. We will definitely use Alice again.”

“I left Fudge with Jade and her lovely family for 5 nights. Had a meet and greet beforehand and Fudge and family were very happy with each other. I received messages and photos from Jade everyday and fudge looked very settled and happy. Fudge is a rescue dog so I was apprehensive about leaving him to go on holiday but I needn’t have been because I could see they he was having a ball with them. Picked him up yesterday and he was happy to see us and I could see that he was very settled in. Would have no hesitation in leaving Fudge with Jade and family and will definitely be booking him in for any other trips/holidays. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him and I will let you know when I need you again ☺️☺️☺️”

“Karen was lovely and approachable, you can tell she's very experienced with dogs, which was reassuring. Ellie had a great stay, we got plenty of pics and videos which was great. Thanks!”

She sent me updates everyday, even made this a holiday for my dog, and kept her days interesting with coffee dates, and dog parks! I just know my dog was well looked after! Nia loved staying with Natalia and her pups!”

“I could not recommend Shaun and his family enough. They truly are the perfect family to trust your dog with. We have never left our Shar Pei with anyone other than family before and yet Shaun and his family really put Bruno first. They went above and beyond when looking after Bruno and communication was excellent and reassuring. I truly cannot speak any higher of them or recommend them enough. I will definitely use them again”

“Alex has taken care of our very excitable, 2 year old border collie this week. Alex has been amazing keeping us updated with messages and pictures. He has also kept our border collie very entertained, (which isn’t an easy dog) and treated like one of the family. Thank you so much Alex xxx”

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats since I was a young child, I have had dogs all my life and started looking after other peoples pets at around 16, I have two of my own large rescue dogs that come with their own issues so I am well experienced with animals with nerves. I understand pets that are shy as I have looked after my aunties pets that struggle with anxiety and we have built a bond overtime. I have experience with slightly larger breeds such as male staffies and pit bulls as I have grown up with them since I was 7, I have also looked after puppies before (less than 1 years old, not less than a month old etc.) I am willing and capable to care of a young pup. I have looked after many cats and understand some are not as sociable, I am patient. I am no stranger to being nibbled by puppies and giving them extra play time / longer walks to tire them out, I also understand older dogs need a more relaxed approach. I have recently finished college and I have much more spare time, as such an animal enthusiast I figured this would be the perfect opportunity. I wake up early and complete daily chores around the house and feeding / walking my own pets. I also sell online so I will often be posting parcels, I am 18 with a full driving licence and my own vehicle so transport is no issue! I am available all throughout the day. I have been trusted multiple times with peoples house keys and being able to let myself in / lock up their homes to watch over their pets. Our garden is fenced off and pretty decent space wise, we also have toys at home that have never been touched as our dog is not interested, we have a large crate if necessary and other dog beds, we have a guest room that can be used for your pet. We always have treats and multiple water bowls available. The back garden is safe and we do not take the dogs on the front garden unless they are on a lead.

I’m absolutely over the moon with how amazingly Angie took care of my elderly dog, Jerry, whilst I’ve been away. It’s like he’s been on holiday himself. I would 100% recommend booking if you’re looking for someone who will love your dog like their own and keep you updated along the way.

Amber loved her stay with Patricia. Our dog can be very nervous so the warm, friendly and calm welcome she received was very welcome. Patricia kept us up to date with photos and messages which was re-assuring. She also had plenty of walks so we would recomend this sitter.

Ross is an amazing dog sitter! Fast to reply to messages, invited me and Peppa over for a meet and greet before making a booking, and has a lovely home and family too. When I dropped Peppa off for her first overnight stay she settled in immediately and was clearly made to feel at home. Ross sent me loads of pics, and took Peppa on a long walk, which she loved. I couldn't have asked for more. Pretty sure Peppa agreed given she wasn't in a rush to leave when I arrived to collect her! Thanks very much.

Thanks so much to Janet and Kevan for looking after Charlie in their home for 8 nights. Their care of him was outstanding! He had a day trip to Howarth and a ride on a steam train, a visit to the seaside so he could have a run and the beach and many long local walks. It was brilliant to see the photos and videos Janet sent us of Charlie thoroughly enjoying himself while we were on holiday. We will definitely be booking again. Thanks Amanda and Andy

Jessica and Chances were amazing with Mehlu! Before confirming the booking, we had a meet & greet, and they asked lots of questions about her daily routine and personality, which really showed how thoughtful and attentive they are. Jessica also kept us very well updated with lots of photos and messages, which really put our minds at ease. Mehlu looked so happy and relaxed – clearly enjoying all the attention and cuddles 😂 You can tell they genuinely love dogs, and we felt completely comfortable leaving her with them. Highly recommended – we would definitely book again! 😊🐶

Denielle and her boyfriend looked after our Frenchie, Lola for a weekend while we got married (we wanted her there but she is far too excitable around lots of people). They were absolutely amazing with her, they suggested a home visit before the stay so that she could have a wonder around and make sure she was comfortable there. They kept us updated with how she was and sent us pictures from on her walks. Lola had a fantastic time there and was treated as if she was their own family pet. We would highly recommend booking with Denielle and we will certainly be booking with them again next time we need a dog sitter.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
