“Absolutely brilliant. Kwan and her family are lovely and looked after our little dog Monty very well. He couldn't have been in better hands, we got regular updates photos and videos. He looked very contented with Kwan and we would have no hesitation recommending her. We will definitely book in Monty with her again.”

“Richard and his family are lovely people and they looked after Florence for 2 weeks whilst we went on holiday. We were more than happy with the updates we received from Richard and Florence really enjoyed her holiday. Richard will be our first choice for our next holiday. We were worried about leaving Florence with a stranger but we had a truly wonderful experience and have complete confidence in Richard-we would highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you so much Richard.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better people to look after our dog Watson for an overnight stay. Karen and Trevor are incredibly warm and caring — Watson was clearly in the best hands and felt right at home with them. They kept us updated with lovely photos throughout his stay and even gave us a ride to the train station, which was so thoughtful. We would absolutely leave our dog with them again without hesitation. Thank you for everything!”

“Absolutely wonderful service, clean home, 2 other lovely friendly dogs, adorable little family. She was treated as one of the family with plenty of company and fuss which she loves. Our dog was kept well looked after and we were kept well updated on how she was the whole time we were away. Plenty of photos received. Remi even took the time to give the dog a bath which she loves and helped to keep her cool in this hot weather and all around made sure that our beloved pet was kept well looked after whilst we were away. We will definitely use Remi again.”

“Bruna looked after our puppy Luna for 11 nights. We did an initial meet and greet and straight away knew Luna would be well cared for with Bruna and her family. We received daily updates and photos whilst we were away and felt very reassured. Luna is only a young puppy and high energy but Bruna continued with our routine and training methods whilst we were away. I would definitely use Bruna again to look after our dog and would recommend her to any dog owners. X”

“I was initially very worried as this is my first time leaving my kitten alone! Wai Han was very lovely to meet in person! She really rested my mind and was sending my pictures and videos all the time! My kitten had so much fun with hers! When she dropped off my little kitten I can tell she was still herself and happy! She came back like she never left! I would definitely go back to Wai Han and do recommend her to everyone!”

“Karolina looked after my very nervous cat and naughty chihuahua when I was moving house. I was quite apprehensive but Karolina immediately put me at ease when I dropped them off and she welcomed the pets. She knew exactly what to do to calm them down and I left feeling reassured they were in good hands. She sent me some cute photos of them during the day and they looked perfectly comfortable. I would definitely go back to her and would recommend her.”

“Very caring couple who made sure our 8 month old puppy had everything she needed to be comfortable during her stay. They were more than happy to follow her existing routines. They sent lots of updates and photos during her stay which were very reassuring. She seemed to really bond with Nicola & Rebecca and returned home very happy and relaxed!”

“Karen and Simon were such good sitters for my Milo. They kept me updated with pictures and vidoes every day. When i went to collect Milo he didn't want to leave so he obviously enjoyed his stay. I felt really happy knowing he was being well looked after, lovely people :-)”

“Rocko stayed with Janet & Kevan for two days recently while we were away. He was extremely well looked after, was taken for numerous long walks & made a doggy friend while he was there. Janet sent us lots of photos to keep us updated and he also came back very clean & soft! I will definitely send Rocko here every time that we need a sitter ? Highly recommended”

“Claudia gave me lots of updates during Ruby’s stay which was great, I felt really happy & confident that Ruby was being well looked after. Ruby seemed like she’d been living her best life on my return, with access to a garden, toys (one which she stole) walks & cuddles. Would definitely use Claudia again & recommend.”

“Jade and her partner Mark kindly looked after our dog Pablo and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! She kept us updated throughout his stay, sending lots of photos and videos which gave us such peace of mind. It was clear that Pablo was happy, comfortable, and getting plenty of love and attention. Jade is reliable, caring, and went above and beyond to make sure Pablo was well looked after. Jade and mark even managed to give Pablo his tablets without any fuss! We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog minder.”

“Absolutely unbelievable service by Sam and Oli. Stanley loved his stay with them. Sam and Oli from the start when meeting with them and their dog Hugo we knew he would be in good hands. Contact with them all throughout holiday with pictures and updates on how Stanley was made us feel settled knowing he was having a ball with them. Highly highly recommend Sam and Oli and hopefully this will be not the last time. Thanks again guys we appreciate you looking after our furry friend”

“Katie has looked after Peppa a few times now and Peppa always has a great time - you can tell by the way Peppa runs inside the moment the front door is opened! Thanks as always.”

“Camilla was absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend her highly enough!! I knew from the moment I met her, her delightful daughter and partner that my dog would be in the most exceptionally safe and kind hands. Camilla is warm and empathetic as a person - she knows how to look after animals with dedication and professionalism. She regularly sent pictures of videos always keeping me updated. She will always be the first person I will ask going forward to look after my dog when I’m away and require someone to look after her. Thank you so much Camilla!! 🙏🤗😀”

This was the first time leaving my dog with someone I didn’t know. We had a pre stay visit which was very reassuring. My dog loved Hannah and immediately looked confident with her dogs and in her home. Whilst away Hannah was kind enough to keep me updated with messages and pictures, which meant I was able to relax and enjoy my time away. We will definitely be using Hannah again as regulars!! 😀 Thanks so much Hannah xx

Janet took care of Toby extremely well. She was very sensitive to his needs and kept me up to date with photos and updates about him. He loved her big garden and was free to roam in it. Janet is a very kind and caring person and I will be asking her to look after Toby again.

Absolutely awesome from start to finish. 🥰 Angela is the perfect choice to look after your furry friends. Communication was outstanding and the fab pictures were a treat for us, clearly showing what an amazing time our Nige was having without us. I just hope Angela’s diary is free for the next time we need someone to love our Nige as much as us. 🤞😎

Amber loved her stay with Patricia. Our dog can be very nervous so the warm, friendly and calm welcome she received was very welcome. Patricia kept us up to date with photos and messages which was re-assuring. She also had plenty of walks so we would recomend this sitter.

Ross is an amazing dog sitter! Fast to reply to messages, invited me and Peppa over for a meet and greet before making a booking, and has a lovely home and family too. When I dropped Peppa off for her first overnight stay she settled in immediately and was clearly made to feel at home. Ross sent me loads of pics, and took Peppa on a long walk, which she loved. I couldn't have asked for more. Pretty sure Peppa agreed given she wasn't in a rush to leave when I arrived to collect her! Thanks very much.

Jessica and Chances were amazing with Mehlu! Before confirming the booking, we had a meet & greet, and they asked lots of questions about her daily routine and personality, which really showed how thoughtful and attentive they are. Jessica also kept us very well updated with lots of photos and messages, which really put our minds at ease. Mehlu looked so happy and relaxed – clearly enjoying all the attention and cuddles 😂 You can tell they genuinely love dogs, and we felt completely comfortable leaving her with them. Highly recommended – we would definitely book again! 😊🐶

Denielle and her boyfriend looked after our Frenchie, Lola for a weekend while we got married (we wanted her there but she is far too excitable around lots of people). They were absolutely amazing with her, they suggested a home visit before the stay so that she could have a wonder around and make sure she was comfortable there. They kept us updated with how she was and sent us pictures from on her walks. Lola had a fantastic time there and was treated as if she was their own family pet. We would highly recommend booking with Denielle and we will certainly be booking with them again next time we need a dog sitter.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
