“Penny has been so well looked after and made part of the family. I am so happy as it has been her first time. She will definately be going to stay again. I had updates and photo's whilst I was away which was great. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who needs a Sitter. Thank you so much Bettyna and family x”

“Eric loved his stay. We were kept updated with messages and videos throughout his stay. Eric would usually go to kennels however, a break with a dog living family much better suits him. We wouldn’t hesitate to letting him go back. Thank you so much”

“Absolutely incredible, not only does she take incredible care of your dog and treats them as her own, she also offers pick ups and drop offs for an additional charge which is extremely handy. I got sent a tonne of pictures and videos throughout my dogs stay and he looked incredibly happy. Despite max never have been away from me before overnight he settled extremely well. Would highly recommend and thank you again, Max will definitely miss you and his new furry friend 🐾”

“Thank you Vivian and your husband for taking such good care of my two cats. You gave me daily updates right on time, spent extra time playing with them and even looked after one of them who has some respiratory issues with great attention. You were friendly, polite, and very thoughtful. I’ll definitely come back to you next time I need cat boarding!”
About: I’ve grown up in a family of dog lovers, caring for furry friends of varied breeds and sizes from a young age. My current little one, Millie, started house-training at 10 weeks old and is now a happy, well-adjusted 8 year old, who loves her daily walks and playtime. I also have plenty of experience with senior dogs, from my dearly missed 15 year old staffy to my current 10 year old chihuahua, Shyla. Caring for dogs has always been a second nature to me & is something I truly love and take pride in. I work fully-remote from home during the week therefore I am always available to tend to pets throughout the day. I am fully available all day for the majority of weekends. I have a medium sized, fenced back garden with enough space for pets to roam and play. I currently have 2 small sociable dogs of my own, I have no concerns with bringing another dog into the home as long as there is an opportunity for them to be introduced and get familiar with each other.
“Daisy loved being with Joyce and Lilly, she seemed a happy little doggy when I picked her up. We would definitely recommend Joyce and we will be booking Daisy in again ***** 🌟 Kathy.”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life and have always been involved in caring for them. My family owned Staffordshire Bull Terriers, so I’m very comfortable handling energetic, strong, and affectionate dogs while understanding the importance of routine, patience, and attention. Now, I have my own French Bulldog with my partner, who is completely spoilt rotten and loved to bits. Caring for him daily has given me hands-on experience with feeding routines, walks, playtime, companionship, and making sure dogs feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I genuinely love dogs of all breeds and personalities, and I’ll always treat your dog as if they were my own, with plenty of care, affection, and attention. Pet care fits perfectly into my routine as I work during the week and have weekends free to fully focus on caring for dogs. This gives me plenty of time for walks, playtime, attention, and making sure your pet feels comfortable, happy, and well looked after. Dogs will always receive lots of love, care, and company while they’re with me. I’ll make sure your dog feels comfortable, safe, and right at home with me. I have a secure gated garden where dogs can safely play and enjoy some fresh air, and they’ll always get plenty of attention, care, and cuddles. I’ve grown up around dogs all my life and now have my own French Bulldog, so I’m very used to daily walks, feeding routines, playtime, and making sure dogs feel happy and settled. I’ll always follow any routines or instructions you provide so your dog gets the best care possible while they’re with me.
“This is the first time we have used Claudia with no initial meet & greet due to logistical issues. However, both Benji and Maisie quickly settled, enjoying a jolly good sniff & mooch of Claudia’s secure rear garden. Claudia kept us fully updated with photos, videos and messages via the Rover App. Will definitely use Vlaudia again.”

“I would highly recommend Nicole to look after your pet. Nicole provided lots of pictures and updates and as this was the first time leaving my puppy this provided me with lots of reassurance. Connie loved staying with Nicole and without a doubt I will be asking Nicole to look after Connie again. 🥰”

“Emily was great, looked after our mini dachshund overnight, let her sleep in her bed (which is her usual routine) Kept me updated, lovely to see her enjoying herself and having lots of cuddles.”

“Nicola and Rebecca were absolutely great hosts for our little Lenny. He is only a pup so we were very nervous about leaving him for the first time. They kept in constant contact with photos and updates which kept our mind at ease and showed us how much fun Lenny was having but importantly how well looked after he was. Thanks again Nicola and Rebecca, Lenny had a great time.”

“Oscar had a wonderful time with Matthew and Raissa. He was happy and relaxed. He enjoyed all his walks and spotting squirrels. We were updated with photos while we were away. I can’t praise Matthew and Raissa enough for the care Oscar received.”

“I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter for Willow. I don’t leave her very often, so I was naturally quite anxious, but James put me completely at ease from the start. Willow seemed to feel at home as soon as she walked through the door. James treated her as if she were his own, giving her plenty of love, attention, cuddles and treats throughout her stay. I received lots of photo updates, which was so reassuring, and it was clear from the pictures that she was having the best time. When I collected her, she was so comfortable and settled that she happily carried on playing while I chatted with James about her stay, which says it all really! I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Willow with James again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and genuine dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such great care of her! 🐾❤️”

“Boris loves his home away from home, he's treated like a king! Thank you Shirley, we are planning a summer holiday soon, so will get booked in with you, so Boris can enjoy his holiday with you again!”

Dylan kept me updated with how Eric was, sent me photos and replied almost instantly when I contacted him, whilst I was away. Eric came home happy and was relaxed. He can be a sensitive character and often ignores me if I’ve been away but not this time. Will definitely book with Dylan again.

Nicole looked after my dog buddy for 2 nights and this was the first time anyone had looked after him. From the get go Nicole made me feel so at ease and filled me with reassurance and confidence with everything she said. While we was away, Nicole would send updates, photos and videos of how he was getting on and what he was Upto. The reassurance and confidence was also shown in all her actions while we was away. I knew he was in very loving hands and I could see he was happy and settled to be there. I would 110% recommend and will definitely be booking with her again. Thankyou so much again Nicole✨🫶🏻

Melissa and her family did an amazing job of looking after Molly while we were away. From our first visit we knew it would be a perfect place for her to stay,be safe, well looked after and loved and we certainly wasn't disappointed. We were sent photos of Molly at least every other day while on holiday and would reply back immediately if we we had any questions. Molly came back to us a very happy and fit dog after plenty of walks too. We will definitely use Melissa's service again. Thank you 😁

Marie was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We had a meet and greet beforehand, which immediately reassured me and made me feel completely comfortable leaving my dogs in her care. Throughout their stay, Marie sent plenty of photo updates, which I really appreciated - it was so lovely to see how happy and relaxed my boys were. It looked like they had such an amazing time with her! Thank you so much, Marie, for taking such wonderful care of my boys. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you.

Olivia was absolutely amazing! We’ve left our girls with strangers before and I was really anxious about it however from the first meeting she really put our minds at ease. Daily pictures& updates were welcome and it quickly became obvious that Olivia is a true dog lover. Olivia got know the girls personalities and clearly connected with them. The girls clearly loved their stay and truly had a holiday themselves. Thank you 🐾❤️

We’re so grateful for the way you cared for Teddy during the week he spent with you. It was clear he felt safe, happy, and well-loved in your care. You kept us updated regularly, which gave us peace of mind while we were away, and it was lovely to see how relaxed and playful he was. Thank you again for treating Teddy like one of your own. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to others and would happily book with you again in the future!

Sam did an exceptional job looking after Lulu. It was the first time she had ever stayed away from family but she had a fantastic time staying with Sam and his two dogs. We arranged a meet and greet before the stay which was a good opportunity for the dogs and Sam to meet. We could also talk through Lulus routine, likes / dislikes etc. During the stay Sam kept us regularly updated with lovely videos of all the dogs playing and out on their daily walk. Would highly recommend! Thank you Sam!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
