“Joanne was excellent. She took great care of my dog. She kept in touch with updates and photos and I felt confident that my dog was happy in her care. My dog can show signs of anxiety, but he was calm relaxed and happy when he came home, so I know he had a good time. Thanks Joanne. You’re a star!”

“Laura took amazing care of my young dog, Monte, for 11 days. Since he is still quite young, the first couple of days were a bit tough for him being away from me, but Laura took care of him just like her own dog. Monte had a blast playing with her dog, Arziel, and they became great friends. Laura took them out for walks twice a day and constantly sent me lovely photo updates from both their walks and around the house, which kept my mind completely at ease. Monte grew to love her so much that he was even cuddling up and sleeping on the couch! He returned home incredibly happy. Thank you so much, Laura, for your time and the wonderful care you gave Monte. I highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for a loving and trustworthy pet sitter!”

“Well what can I say. Elizabeth was a great sitter for my dog. She keep in communication with me regularly and sent photos of my dog daily. 5 star's is not enough. A very warm setting. Will dafo us again. Thanks again”

“Sarah and Matty were lovely to Shankly. They have a lovely home with a garden that Shanks loved to play in. It was clear that he enjoyed his stay by the love he showed them as he was leaving. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sarah to anyone else. We look forward to Shanks staying over again.”

“Rachel looked after Arlo overnight this weekend. She sent plenty of pictures and clearly put lots of time into playing with him and keeping him entertained. Would 100% recommend.”

“We really have found our retreat for Bishop when we go away. I was so worried about leaving Bishop with any one, due to his reactivity with other dogs and the size and energy of him but Louie reassured me as he has many years experience with big breeds and reactive behaviours. I took Bishop for a meet and knew within a minute Louie and his family would manage Bishop and that his needs would be met. We got updates and pictures whilst we were away which reassured me even more. Picking up Bishop was actually quite emotional although I could see he had missed me, the connection and love he clearly had for Louie and his family was clear to see, he had been so well looked after and was part of the family. I really couldn’t ask for more, I would not want anyone else to look after Bishop in the future and look forward to booking again. Can’t thank Louie and his family enough”

“Olive loves staying with Nicola and her family and she’s very well looked after. When she went for the second time she was waiting on the doorstep with her tail wagging! Nicola always sends photos and updates and Olive is always happy 🩷”

“Amy and Bea were great and we'd recommend them to anyone looking for a sitter that makes their dog feel at home. Their communication was great and we know our dog was really relaxed with them.”

About: I’ve had dogs in my family all my life. I got my own dog almost two years ago (Mabel), I love teaching her new tricks, and going for walks with her. I have trained Mabel myself and she is a very good girl. I have also just attended dog training class with a family members dog. Mabel is very sociable and she would love a friend to play with. I’m a TA so in holiday I have lots of time to play and take care of your dog, I am available on Saturdays or during school holidays. I have a large fenced in garden that dogs will have access to all day. I have one super friendly dog that loves playing with her toys. I have a crate that I can use if they need some of their own space. I have local walks in my area that my dog loves and she would love another dog to join her.
“We can’t recommend Helen and her partner enough they have been wonderful from start to finish. Nelly loved her stay and made herself right at home, we had regular updates and pictures which put us at ease. A lovely home, secure garden and great walks nearby. Nelly can’t wait to stay again- 100% recommend💕”

About: I have always loved dogs and understand just how much they mean to a family, because to me they are never “just pets” — they are part of the family. Sadly, my own beloved dog George passed away in February, and I miss him every single day. Looking after him gave me so much joy, love and companionship, and I would now love the opportunity to share that same care and affection with other people’s dogs. Becoming a dog sitter feels like a lovely way to do something meaningful, while also helping owners feel completely reassured that their dog is in safe, loving hands. I know how important it is to leave your dog with someone who will treat them with kindness, patience and genuine affection, and that is exactly the care I would provide. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the sofa or simply having company and a calm routine, I will make sure they feel happy, secure and well looked after while you are away. I can offer a loving, reliable and attentive environment, and I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and needs. I would always take the time to get to know your dog so I can care for them in the way that suits them best. Most importantly, I want owners to have complete peace of mind, knowing their dog is being cared for as if they were my own. Because I work from home, your dog would have plenty of company, care and attention throughout the day. I am around to provide reassurance, regular toilet breaks, playtime, walks and lots of affection, so they will never feel left alone for long periods. I understand how important it is for owners to know their dog is safe, happy and well looked after while they are away, and being at home means I can give them the time, care and companionship they deserve. I have a secure fenced garden and work from home, which means your dog would have constant care, company and attention throughout the day. They would never be left feeling lonely or unsettled, and I can provide a safe, loving environment where they can relax, play and feel completely at home. Whether they enjoy cuddles, garden time, walks or simply having someone nearby, I will make sure they feel happy, comfortable and well cared for at all times.
“Fabulous dog sitters, very caring and kept me updated on my dogs daily welfare. Kobi seemed happy even though he is a very nervous and clingy dog. I would recommend to anyone looking for a loving holiday home.”

“10/10. Highly Recommend, Chester and Maisee had a wonderful stay. James kept us updated and sent pictures. They went on lots of lovely walks and was well cared for. They came home 2 very happy, tired dogs. Thanks again James!”

“It was Lola first stay with Jodi and she loved it. Jodi made Lola feel at home from when she arrived to when we picked her up. Lola is a high energy dog and Jodi took her to the dog paddock so she could have a good run off lead. Jodi sent us updates and photos each day while Lola was there. Would highly recommend her services.”

“Saoirse was amazing with my dixie xx I couldn’t have found any one better. Dixie hasn’t had the best experiences with boarding which has left her extremely stressed and we really needed someone to have patience, love, cuddles and time for her xx And that’s exactly what she got with Saoirse xx I received pictures, updates which made me feel incredibly calm knowing she was comfortable and in safe loving hands xxx I can’t thank you enough and how amazing and chilled she was returning home xx I will absolutely because using Saoirse again xxx see you soon xxx”

“Busta had the best time with Katie and her partner, they sent lots of pictures and kept me up to date on everything he was doing. He seemed so happy with Katie’s dog buster! He looked so happy and settled really well. Will definitely use Katie again! 🩵”

Laura took amazing care of my dog, Frodo, while I was away. She is reliable, responsible, and clearly loves animals. Every day she kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind and made it much easier to enjoy my holiday. I’m incredibly grateful to Laura for looking after Frodo so well. Knowing he was in such caring and capable hands meant everything to me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter, and I will definitely be booking with her again in the future. Thank you so much, Laura!

This was the first time we had used the app, and we really did hit the jackpot. Jackie made us feel so welcome from our first meeting, and when we were away, the daily updates we received showing olive so happy and well looked after meant we were fully able to relax and enjoy our break. Jackie’s garden was fully secure and dog friendly, and it was clear all of her family were true dog lovers. We would have no hesitation in recommending her and will definitely be using her again. Thank you Jackie!

We have just picked up our dog from Helen and he really enjoyed his stay there 😀 Helen kept us up to date with photos and videos which was lovely. I was quite anxious about leaving him as we have never left him before and he can get quite anxious, but will definitely be using Helen again as he seemed to really enjoy his stay there, thank you Helen

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
