“This was Hugo’s second time staying with Lauren and we have had the BEST experiences on both occasions. Hugo loves his home comforts (typical frenchie) and a Lauren made sure he was happy and cosy with regular picture updates and messages. Lauren are Matthew are a lovely couple and I can see they both truly care and enjoy the company of dogs. Hugo was boarded for 2 weeks the first time and I can tell he developed a lovely bond with both Lauren and a Matthew and they were so understanding on all his needs. Thank you both so much 🙏🏻 ❤️”

“We couldn’t thank Jack enough for looking after our family Dog, Narla! We would 100% recommend him, we booked Jack quite last minute and he was very accommodating and I was able to meet and greet Jack in his home prior to Narla staying for the weekend, which put my mind at ease knowing she would be well looked after! Jack sent regular updates and photos throughout and treated Narla like his own! Thanks again, we will be rebooking 😊 x”

“Kayleigh is welcoming, friendly and experienced in caring for dogs and their needs. Our frenchie was totally at home and we were kept updated with messages, pics and videos. Would totally recommend booking with Kayleigh - we’ll definitely be rebooking when we next need a sitter. 👍🏻👍🏻”

“Karen has been a wonderful minder for our Bert the French bulldog on 2 occasions now. On the most recent Boarding he actually pulled on the lead to go back which is very surprising as not the greatest social Frenchie , absolutely no fuss also with Karen she so so relaxed and dogs are made so welcome in her lovely home. I couldn’t have asked me more. Thank you so much.”

“Alvin our Lhasa Apso is just back from his holiday with Joanne, he has had a brilliant time, he has been walked, loved and enjoyed his time away. Joanne always send pics, video and updates daily. We would definitely recommend Joanne and will be booking her again soon xxx”

“We were so nervous leaving our Maggie for the first time ever but we shouldn’t have worried at all. Heather was so lovely and the updates she provided put our minds at rest. I would 100% recommend Heather and will definitely book again if we needed to! Thank you :)”

“Bear stayed from Friday to Wednesday. He was made very much part of the family even with their baby. I would highly recommend for someone wanting a home from home stay. I was sent pictures on walks and bear even went the beach. When I picked him up he was clean and happy. Thank you so much .I would definitely bring bear again x”

“My 5 month old puppy stayed with Jena for the first time this week. It’s difficult to find a sitter who really knows how to look after a young puppy, even if it has a great temperament & is well behaved (for a puppy). But Jenna was great, she knew exactly what questions to ask, which gave me confidence that she understood the discipline required to ensure a puppy understands what’s required of it when away from home. Oscar had a fab time, with just the right balance of exercise & sleep. He also loved the company of Jena’s little Teddy’s on walks. It was comforting to see at 5 months that he could be off lead without me there to recall him. Although he was over the moon to see me at pick up time, he was slightly reluctant to get into my car, I’m pretty sure he didn’t want to leave 😂😂. We will definitely be back to stay with Jena & Teddy again.”

“We knew our dog Samson would be in good hands with Susan and her husband immediately. They were really friendly and welcoming, and Samson felt at home straight away! Susan sent us updates and photos, and was very understanding when we were delayed in traffic today. Our dog has come back relaxed, happy and ready for his next stay with Susan in a couple of weeks! 😊”

“Saoirse was amazing with my dixie xx I couldn’t have found any one better. Dixie hasn’t had the best experiences with boarding which has left her extremely stressed and we really needed someone to have patience, love, cuddles and time for her xx And that’s exactly what she got with Saoirse xx I received pictures, updates which made me feel incredibly calm knowing she was comfortable and in safe loving hands xxx I can’t thank you enough and how amazing and chilled she was returning home xx I will absolutely because using Saoirse again xxx see you soon xxx”

“Trisha, Shane & Juliet - thank you so much for looking after Socks this week after i needed to travel away for work. Socks had a fantastic time staying with you & had lots of play with Juliet, snuggles and walks with you both. You did a fantastic job of keeping me up to date on how Socks was & what she had been up doing. Have no hesitation in recommending you to others to look after their furry friends. Socks is already looking forward to visiting you all again in August. Thank you again.”

“Ellis was great with my pup Luna, she kept me updated daily with pictures and videos, she’s a lovely person and I felt like my Luna was in great hands while I was away! Would definitely recommend:)”

“Eabha and her partner are a genuinely lovely couple, and their communication was excellent throughout. She was quick to respond to any messages and asked plenty of thoughtful questions about Lottie to understand her needs. I received regular updates and photos of a very happy, relaxed dog, which put my mind completely at ease. Lottie was so well cared for, and they were both incredibly friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend Eabha to anyone.”

“Sally had a great time, got regular updates and pictures, would highly recommend Catherine, Sally is our rescue dog who came to us with numerous issues and Catherine took great care of her.”

“Fabulous dog sitters, very caring and kept me updated on my dogs daily welfare. Kobi seemed happy even though he is a very nervous and clingy dog. I would recommend to anyone looking for a loving holiday home.”

“Ben was an incredibly flexible and kind sitter, and Charlie came back absolutely exhausted and delighted to have been played with and cared for with such obvious enthusiasm. I had several last minute changes to plans and Ben was incredibly helpful in making sure Charlie was cared for and catered to.”

We are very happy with Simon's care of Baloo. He learned about Baloo's personality and care beforehand, to ensure he met his needs and understood him. Baloo took to him straight away, and was comfortable in his home. In the photo updates, Baloo was content and relaxed with Simon, which was really reassuring for us. When we picked Baloo up he was very clearly a happy boy and had had a great time with Simon. We've already booked again, would highly recommend.

Bonny got her feet under the table in no time. Good location near a pleasant park. Kayleigh looked after her well and got a little friendship going. I was comfortable with Bonny staying with Kayleigh and with Bonny being the only dog Kayleigh could give 100% of attention to Bonny and not worry about any issues that might pop up. I will book Kayleigh again in the near future.Very please with Bonny's stay

Daniela was absolutely incredible! It was our first time leaving the boy overnight and our original sitter cancelled last minute. Not only did Daniela save the day but she took such good care of Brodie, amazing communication, sending pictures and took care of all his dietary and meds not a problem. Cannot recommend Daniela enough!

Hannah looked after our Labrador Retriever Eddie on fairly short notice, for 2 nights. She was brilliant, keeping in touch with us and sending photographs. Eddie seemed really settled and at home with her and we really had peace of mind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hannah and would certainly have Eddie spend time with her again

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
