“Hollie looked after our 1 year old Lab Max for close to 10 days while we were on holiday. Max loved being at her home with her dogs and family and he was very well looked after in our absence. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Max with her again and recommend her whole-heartedly.”

“Would put more stars if we could ❤️ Alex and Chris looked after our pride and joy, 11 month old border collie just like we knew they would. Jota has had a great time, lots of pictures of him enjoying himself. We were immediately put at ease by a lovely couple and we did not worry once about if he would be well looked after because we knew he would. Lots of questions asked so they knew him and the family and they treated him like their own. Would highly recommend and Jota will be a frequent visitor in the future. Thank you 😊 for caring so much about him x”

“Bluey and haggis had a lovely time with Janice. Highly recommend. Received regular updates and photos of Bluey and haggis, made me feel better about leaving them in their friendly and loving home. Thank you very much x”

“Sarge absolutely loved his time with Lauren, he made himself at home straight away and Lauren sent lots of pupdates, it was so reassuring to know that Sarge was comfortable and being well looked after. I wish I lived more locally because I’d have a dog sitter for life with Lauren if I could. Thank you so much!”

“Lesley provided a wonderful three night stay for our cockapoo Ruby. She took time to find out about her routine and preferences and was obviously very experienced in caring for dogs. She was really welcoming and friendly with Ruby. The house and garden were really dog friendly. Lesley provided us with regular updates and photos and Ruby was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. No hesitation in recommending Lesley.”

“We couldn't be happier with the care our dog received. From the moment we met Melissa, it was clear she genuinely love animals and takes her responsibilities seriously. Communication was excellent throughout, with regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we collected him. It was reassuring to know he was being treated like part of the family rather than just another booking. We would highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional dog sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of our boy – we wouldn't hesitate to use your services again in the future.”

“Laura and her family took a good care of Bagel for 6 days. Bagel really loves them as always. Laura updated me with photos and videos every day. I will no doubt trust and choose Laura again.”

“Angus was the first sitter we have used through the Rover service. We could not be happier with the way he cared for Della, our 12 yr old Patterdale Terrier. We received regular updates throughout the duration of her stay and she received such loving care.”

“Thank you for looking after Kuki, I found Georgia friendly, knowledgeable, caring and communitive when leaving Kuki in her home. I would highly recommend her and she will be definately someone I would trust and use in the future should the need arise.”

“We could not have been happier with placing Dizzy the spaniel with Nicole - the bonus was that she had two spaniels too! A lovely caring home, with extensive walks nearby. Lots of photos and comms from Nicole to reassure us that Dizzy was OK. She came back happy and worn out for playing with her new friends. The perfect host, thanks!!”

“Jo and her family welcomed my Elle into their home like she was one of their family. They kindly allowed her to stay in their bedroom too. Jo followed all of the care instructions perfectly & gave plenty of wiggle room for pick up times. Jo updated me with photos & how Elle was settling in which was very comforting. I would definitely book Jo again & would 100% recommend her to anyone else. Thank you Jo you were a star ⭐️”

“My Storm went for a sleep over as an extended meet and greet to see if Tracy and her were a match.. I could tell instantly that Storm was comfortable. I got photos and updates.. and when Storm was dropped off she was happy.. and as soon as Tracy's back was turned Storm jumped back into her car.. although I wasnt impressed that Storm was happy to go back off with Tracy it gave me comfort that she had clearly given her the care and love that she receives at home... have already rebooked for a longer stay.. I just hope I get a better greeting off Storm after my trip. Thank you, 🐾”

“Danielle and her family were so good with Peanut. He’s never stayed with anyone other than friends, and they settled him in, and were mindful to his character. Cannot recommend highly enough. They are clearly experienced dog people.”

“Superb, Five star plus. Kat understood that Islay our Welsh Springer was getting on and would find separation from us difficult. Kat absolutely put our mind to rest with her caring manner from the first minute we met. Kat let us tss as ke a look round her home and especially the garden which was very secure. During our time away Kat supplied a few photo which was very much appreciated. On pickup Islay was happy that I’m not sure she wanted to leave. We would have ni issues with booking Kat again.”

“Lydia took wonderful care of our dog Frank for 11 nights at her home. We couldn’t be more pleased with the whole experience and Frank certainly seems to have enjoyed his stay. Lydia’s caring manner and great communication put our minds at rest whilst we were on holiday. Would highly recommend! Juliette & Robert”

“Harry and his partner looked after Lenny for nearly two weeks, and I couldn't have asked for better carers. They kept me updated throughout his stay with regular messages and photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. It was obvious from the updates that they genuinely care about animal welfare and treat every dog as if it were their own. Their home is spacious and welcoming, and it's surrounded by plenty of outdoor space for walks, which Lenny clearly enjoyed. From the photos, it was easy to see he was having a great time exploring. When I collected Lenny, he looked happy, relaxed, and in excellent health, which says everything about the level of care he received :-) I wouldn't hesitate to leave Lenny with Harry again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring dog sitters.”

Milo stayed with Janice for 1 night for the first time and you could tell how he just made himself right at home from the updates and pictures that Janice sent. You can tell how much they both love animals from the love they gave him and I wasn’t worried about leaving Milo with them he definitely loved playing with the tennis ball in the garden 😂. Thank you again I would recommend to anyone looking for a home boarder.

Hollie looked after our 1 year old Lab Max for close to 10 days while we were on holiday. Max loved being at her home with her dogs and family and he was very well looked after in our absence. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Max with her again and recommend her whole-heartedly.

This was the first time Toby had been away from us and it took him a day or two to settle down, so Denise didn’t not get very much sleep! He got on very well with Fletcher, Denise’s dog and Toby says he was very well looked after. He says he would like to go back to Denise someday.

We had such a great experience with leaving Winston with Nicole! She was so easy to work with from start to finish, and kept us updated with plenty of photos and videos which really put our minds at ease. Winston had an amazing time – he came home happily tired (in the best way!), and it was clear he’d been well looked after. We really appreciated how they stuck to Winston’s usual routine, which made everything feel seamless for him. We’ll definitely be booking again – highly recommend!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
