“We are very happy with the care Dobby received. She was very calm and happy when we picked her up, and it was clear that she had a lovely time. Thank you so much for looking after her and making her feel comfortable in your home. We really appreciate your kindness and would definitely recommend you to other dog owners. 😊”

“Danielle and her partner Dan were fantastic from the very first message. They gave Winnie a proper home from home stay, she loved every second of it and was honestly so lovely to see how much they loved Winnie. Amazing sitters and pup carers! 10/10 from us and would highly recommend. Winnie will be visiting again in no time I’m absolutely sure of it 🩶”

“Michael and Geoff were the most loveliest hosts for our dog Darcy. We were a little anxious about leaving her as she can be a handful but meeting Michael and Geoff put us straight at ease. Their excellent communication and pictures of Darcy really supported us leaving her knowing she was in such excellent hands. I could not fault the service and support they gave us while we were away. I would 100% book again with them and will definitely be my first port of call in the future for looking after Darcy.”

“We’re so pleased we found Melissa to look after Lotus. We were quite nervous at first due to some past bad experiences with dog care, but she completely put our minds at ease. Lotus clearly had an amazing time, made two new best friends, and was so well cared for. Melissa kept us updated with messages about their adventures, which really reassured us while we were away. She followed all our care instructions perfectly and went above and beyond. It’s obvious she genuinely loves dogs, and Lotus was absolutely spoilt. We’ll definitely be booking with her again, it’s such a relief to know we can go away without worrying. Truly 5-star care. Highly recommended!”

“It was our first time leaving Otis for more than one night but I felt confident and reassured that Jayne and James were giving him lots of love, care and attention. We received lot of photo and video updates and Otis was so relaxed and happy when I picked him up that I know he had a wonderful time.”

“Jo was fantastic! She took great care of Teddy and kept us updated the whole time. Teddy came home happy and relaxed, although I think he wanted to stay a little longer. Highly recommend Jo for anyone needing a reliable, caring dog sitter!”

“My old boy is a rescue, naturally distrustful due to previous people who had him, and can be quite shy, especially since his mom passed away a year ago. Well, a week with Cherise and he's now howling away happily! I was kept up to date and pictures and videos were sent. I was very nervous as I had never left him with a stranger for long periods before. She made all that anxiety and fear dissipate in seconds. We will DEFINITELY book again”

“Maggie Thank you very much for looking after Halle. It seems like she has had a good stay with you: lots of varied and frequent walks ( she does like variety!) and has come home looking fit and well groomed - despite the weather!”

“Gus and Nicky are absolutely amazing. Albert doesn't settle anywhere we take him and struggles with separation anxiety as well are both home all the time but he's really excited to be dropped off and is not in any rush to come home when we pick him up. We are so relieved that we have found someone who truly loves what they are doing, offers a super friendly home and are such genuine and caring people. Trip is absolutely amazing with Albert and they play, sleep, walk and cuddle so well together. I would never consider taking Albert anywhere else. We have definitely found Albert's home from home holiday home. Thank you so much. See you soon. 🐶🩵”

“Sarah and family were great. We were kept informed on our 2 dogs settling in and Sarah sent some nice photos. The dogs seemed very happy there. Drop off and collection was without fuss and Sarah took notes on the dogs routines etc. I would highly recomend Sarah and Rover in general.”

“Lisa is so lovely. I’ve always left my dog with friends, but Lisa made me feel at ease! She definitely treated my dog like a queen for a week. I will definitely be rebooking! Wouldn’t leave my dog with anyone other dogsitter. Additionally, received photos throughout her stay, Sadie was very happy.”

“We left Buster with Laura for the first time, he was extremely well looked after and enjoyed his stay. We received regular updates and photos of how he was getting on so had no worries while we were away. We’ll definitely be booking with Laura again.”

“Hollie was very welcoming and assuring. The dogs seemed happy right from our first meeting. Hollie sent me regular updates and photos of their stay and walks. She was very caring and attentive with my dogs. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hollie and I'm booking with her again.”

“Sarge absolutely loved his time with Lauren, he made himself at home straight away and Lauren sent lots of pupdates, it was so reassuring to know that Sarge was comfortable and being well looked after. I wish I lived more locally because I’d have a dog sitter for life with Lauren if I could. Thank you so much!”

“Superb, Five star plus. Kat understood that Islay our Welsh Springer was getting on and would find separation from us difficult. Kat absolutely put our mind to rest with her caring manner from the first minute we met. Kat let us tss as ke a look round her home and especially the garden which was very secure. During our time away Kat supplied a few photo which was very much appreciated. On pickup Islay was happy that I’m not sure she wanted to leave. We would have ni issues with booking Kat again.”

“Ella was very flexible with our arrival time as we were travelling up from Wiltshire. She kept us informed all weekend about our black Lab Alfie. When we picked him up he seemed to be very happy & relaxed. Ella obviously looked after him very well & we would definitely recommend her.”

“This is the first time Oakley had been away from home and we were extremely anxious. We shouldn't have been as he was well looked after and fitted right in with her own dog.”

“Bluey and haggis had a lovely time with Janice. Highly recommend. Received regular updates and photos of Bluey and haggis, made me feel better about leaving them in their friendly and loving home. Thank you very much x”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Blackpool
Very friendly, the meet and greet helped to settle my nerves as Zena my husky was instantly at ease with Cherise, the house and their dog. Got plenty of updates, was running late to pick Zena up due to traffic but they were very understanding, Zena really enjoyed her stay and even came home with her new favourite toy. Would deffinately recommend and will be using them again.

Nicole and Simon, you are just the best!! We spent years using great Kennels, but always found our dogs came back stressed and taking days to get back to normal. Our holidays were always clouded with guilt leaving them in Kennels, what must feel like eternity for them. 2025 was a particularly bad year for our current Dog Buster, who ended up having a panic attack whilst in kennels. 2026 was going to be different, and we needed someone to look after him in a home environment. After searching, we discovered Nicole & Simon on Rover. After an initial meet and greet session with Nicole and Simon, it was clear within a short time that all was going to work out. They clearly love dogs and we could tell this was going to work very well for all. We therefore booked Buster for 19days in July. Buster was treated like a King. He had his own fun packed Holiday of Love, Cuddles, Walks, Treats with Nicole or Simon with him 24/7. Buster truly settled and behaved as if he was at home, but with a lot more attention. On return from our holidays, he was no more excited to see me than if I'd nipped to the shops. Once home Buster he settled straight away, without the multiple days of being in a mood with us all. We cannot thank Nicole & Simon enough for the stress they removed from our family annual Holiday and for the love and care they gave Buster.

We are very happy with the care Dobby received. She was very calm and happy when we picked her up, and it was clear that she had a lovely time. Thank you so much for looking after her and making her feel comfortable in your home. We really appreciate your kindness and would definitely recommend you to other dog owners. 😊

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
