Max had an absolutely fantastic stay and was looked after with much love and care! All the boarding services I have used have been fantastic, but Max really took to Lesley and cried when she went out and gave her lots of cuddles on collection. It is abundantly clear her great love and experience of dogs and that she provides a brilliant experience out of her pure love for dogs. Max xx

About: I am retired and looking to share my many years of dog ownership after losing my best friend recently. Missing the walks and the hugs and those special times that only dogs can give. Nice big home set in a countryside location and no other pets/children or other distractions. Experience with border collies, senior care and nervous dogs. I have recently retired and am able to accommodate my time to the care of dogs. If I have committed to looking after your dog(s) they will receive full care and attention throughout their stay. I live in a large house with a paddock for excercise at home and access to many country walks. I have a car and am familiar with transporting dogs if allowed for days out at the beach etc. Your dog would reside in the home with me and my husband, Chris. I am also experienced with walking dogs on a long lead so they can exercise whilst remaining secure.

Fabiola was amazing with scooby. She gave me regular updates with messages videos and photos . Scooby felt at home and having a friend ( Bandit) made a huge difference. I would definitely book Fabiola again for taking care of scooby in future.

About: I am a working from home dog mum to my Italian greyhound Cleo, with my schedule I have plenty of time in the day to take out your dog for lovely long walks and play time. Your dog will be treated as my own, with love, protection and care and will never be left alone. My house is clean , cosy and secure and Cleo would love a little companion in the day. Experienced owning small dog breeds and happy to look after your lively pup or older souls 🐶💜 I only board 1 dog at a time so they will have plenty of my care and attention during their stay with me 🐾 I work from home and have split days so I am available for a few hours every day to take your dog out with us on lovely walks and play dates. I like to take my own dog to open places away from cars and busy roads so she can enjoy a run but happy to also do lead walks if that is better suited to your pup. I am also available on weekends. I have a secured fenced and walled garden for your dog to enjoy ☺️ Your dog is free to sit and snooze on my sofa as they please or to have their own space if preferred.

Laura and Matt took such great care of Zola during the 2 days she stayed with them. A few days before the boarding, we scheduled a meet and greet so they could get to know Zola’s daily routine and habits, and so Zola could become familiar with her surroundings. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Laura and Matt again. You can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and treat them with so much love, care, and attention. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our girl 😊

Debbie and Andrew have a great love for dogs and our rather nervous border collie rescue dog quickly made herself at home and felt comfortable being left behind. It was lovely to see the daily photos of walks and play while we were on holiday and good to see her socialising with other dogs, which had been an earlier problem. I can heartily recommend this home and I will be making future bookings rather than using kennels.

We left our beloved dog Blue for the first time ever with Walter and Angela. They were brilliant from start to finish. We felt instantly reassured that Blue was in good hands. He is an older dog with particular needs and they managed them with great care and easy. We had regular updates from them too.Plus their own dog Bonnie is a very friendly gorgeous dog with a wonderful temperament. I would highly recommend them. Thank you both!

Maddie and Alex boarded our ten month old Doberman puppy again last weekend so we could attend a wedding. When Roxy arrived at their house her tail began to wag and she was eager to get into the house, and play with them both. She was happy to see them knowing she would be looked after. She went on lots of long walks in the countryside and was very well cared for. I am fussy who we leave Roxy with, but would highly recommend this young couple to look after your pet. They are knowledgeable about dogs and go out of their way to accommodate your requirements. Again would highly recommend. Thanks again from Julie and Mike.

About: Myself and my husband have grown up with dogs and have embraced them into our family life.Mainly large, male dogs some with challenging behaviour issues. We have recently lost our much loved dog in a tragic accident and consequently we have started to look after friends and family's pets and have really enjoyed this and want it to continue. We live in a nice, semi rural area with a multitude of walks on our doorstep. We have great flexibility as we are self employed and work close to home. We are early risers so would be able to take your dog out for a walk before work, and/or take your dog with us, or pop home regularly if required. We are a self employed couple with great flexibility. We have a fenced garden and yard with access to many local walks. We would treat your dog as if it was our own and maintain your boundaries and preferences around behaviour and routine.

Mark did a great job looking after my 2 dogs this weekend. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos he sent, which kept my mind at ease. My only piece of feedback is regarding the drop-off; Mark was headed out the door as I arrived, which felt a bit rushed and left me a little uneasy about them being left alone immediately. However, the dogs seemed happy and well-cared for upon my return.

We couldn't of wished for a better place for our little Bailey to stay. He is a king charles cavalier who is only just 9 months old and very clingy so we were anxious about leaving him for the first time. Mark and Natalie were both amazing right from the start. Bailey settled into their family home no problem. We were sent daily photos and message updates of how he was getting on with his new little pals 🐶🐾🐕 They cooked their own fresh food for him every day which he loved. They took exceptionally good care of him especially in the latest heatwave. We couldn't be more happy we have found Mark and Natalie for Bailey and have already booked them again for our next holiday 😊

There is no other way to say it other than Ellis is gifted and excellent with animals. It's clearly her gift in life. Teddy and Elmo had the time of their lives, going to the park, dock and other outings. Ellis fed them cool whipped cream, ice and carrot chips and provided lots of other similar extras it would take me too long to write! Teddy and Elmo both have a character. Ellis navigated this with ease and they were both very settled. I'm not sure they wanted to come home! Most of all Ellis loved them beyond measure. Ellis has a whole wealth of veterinary experience, she taught me a few things too. I always look for the best in care for the boys and have no problem recommending Ellis to all. Thank you again Ellis, we will see you again soon

We needed a sitter at short notice and Matthew and Laura were only too pleased to host Ruby. Their communication was excellent and provided us the reassurance we needed. On meeting Laura, it was clear she (and Matthew) had a lot of experience and Ruby immediately seemed at home. The actual visit could not have been better with regular updates and photos of Ruby sleeping and playing with Matthew. It was clear to us she was being well cared for and was happy. We have already booked again with Matthew and Laura and I'm sure Ruby will be excited to visit and make herself at home again. Thank you both

Theo had the best time with Jess and family. Plenty of walks and fun times swimming and playing in the garden. Jess sent lots of updates throughout the weekend which really put our mind at ease. This the first time Theo has stayed away and he’s clearly had a great time - as an energetic Springer Spaniel, he’s coming home with plenty of miles under his collar 😉. We’ll definitely be booking with Jess again. 100% would recommend to anyone.

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Preston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Preston on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 2,122 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Preston. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
