“Lisa is always amazing with Sadie. Sadie is an older dog, so always worry about leaving her but Lisa is great and reassuring. She really gives you peace of mind. She even takes numerous photos during her stay, showing me how much little Sadie is enjoying herself, out and about. Can’t recommend her enough.”

“Lauren and her husband looked after my dog Ozzie for the day, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I met Lauren, she made me feel completely at ease, especially as it was the first time I’d ever left Ozzie with someone who wasn’t family. They took him on plenty of walks and kept me updated throughout the day, which was really reassuring. It was clear he was being well looked after and having a great time. When I picked him up he came back happy and tired – always a good sign! I’m so grateful for the care they gave him, and Ozzie can’t wait to come back again. I would definitely recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.”

“We felt really comfortable leaving Bronte with Lesley and Howard. Lesley sent photos of his stay which was very reassuring. The meet and greet beforehand is brilliant. Lesley writes down all details of Bronte’s needs and ways. It gave us confidence that he would be safe and well looked after, which proved to definitely be the case. We would highly recommend Lesley to look after your much loved dog. Brilliant!! Many thanks.”

About: What sets me apart is my genuine love of dogs, over 25 years of hands-on experience, and the fact that I currently have my own friendly 6-month-old Cavapoo, Milo, who absolutely loves playing with other dogs and has the best personality. He helps create a fun, social, and welcoming environment for visiting dogs. I understand that every dog is different, so I always tailor my care to their needs, routine, and personality. Whether it’s an energetic younger dog needing playtime, walks, and consistency, or an older dog who needs a gentler pace, patience, and extra comfort, I’m happy to adapt. I also work from home, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to offer drop-in visits, regular toilet breaks, walks, companionship, and attentive care throughout the day. Your dog will never feel ignored or left alone for long periods. Most importantly, I treat every dog as if they were my own—providing a safe, loving, and reliable home-from-home experience so owners can relax knowing their pet is in caring hands et care fits naturally into my daily routine as I work from home during weekdays, which means I’m around throughout the day to give dogs plenty of attention, companionship, and regular care. I work 9–5, but this allows me to be present for toilet breaks, playtime, feeding, and making sure pets feel settled and comfortable. I already care for my own puppy, Milo, so taking time for walks, play, and supervision is part of my everyday schedule. I make sure he gets a walk at lunchtime each day, and I’d be happy to include another dog in that routine depending on their needs and energy levels. My wife is also home on some days while studying at university, which means there is often additional company and supervision in the house. Because pet care is already built into our home life, any dog staying with us would receive lots of attention, affection, exercise, and a warm, welcoming environment throughout the week. I provide a safe, caring, and comfortable environment for pets in my home, making sure they feel relaxed and part of the family while they are with me. I have a good-sized paved yard that is fully fenced and gated, so dogs can safely enjoy outdoor time, fresh air, and play during day boarding or stays. I am very much led by each owner’s preferences and will always follow your instructions on how your dog likes to be cared for, including feeding routines, walks, sleeping arrangements, training commands, medication, and any little habits that help them feel at home. I understand every dog is different, so I always tailor my care to suit their individual needs and personality.

About: I have had dogs all my life, we love them, my daughter has a Cockerpoo who regularly comes to stay and we love him!He is our Grand Dog😂 We had 3 dogs all at the same time at one point and loved every moment. They all got old and had one illness or another and so I am used to administering medications. Therefore, also used to senior dogs too. Your dog will be loved and cared for as if they are our own. We look after friends dogs when they are away and they have a great time, we make sure they have a lovely time. We live semi rurally and there is a fabulous enclosed dog field nearby for those with sketchy recall! Please let me know your dogs routine and and we will stick to that as far as possible. Also let us know any dietary requirements or allergies and medications. I am at home all day and my husband works from home so there will be plenty of attention to go round. I offer a high standard of care and will ensure that your pets will be looked after and made to feel secure and at home. I have a house with a fenced garden and your dog will be well cared for. I am retired, fit and healthy , hubby works from home. We love walking, and love dogs, they will be loved as our own and cared for. I have a secure garden, semi rural, dog friendly area, secure quiet dog parks if needed & friendly grand-dog if needed for company, conservation area nearby and won't be left alone if you don't want. We will always take the dogs with us to dog friendly places.

“Alexandra and Chris were absolutely fantastic looking after our dog, Harley, while we were away in Cardiff for a few days. From the moment we dropped her off, we knew she was in safe and caring hands. They kept us updated throughout our trip with regular messages and lovely photos, which gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to relax knowing Harley was happy and well looked after. It was clear she was getting plenty of attention, care, and affection. We couldn’t have asked for better sitters, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with Alexandra and Chris again. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, reliable, and trustworthy people to care for their dog. Thank you both for taking such great care of Harley!”

“Jo was fantastic! She took great care of Teddy and kept us updated the whole time. Teddy came home happy and relaxed, although I think he wanted to stay a little longer. Highly recommend Jo for anyone needing a reliable, caring dog sitter!”

“We’re so pleased we found Melissa to look after Lotus. We were quite nervous at first due to some past bad experiences with dog care, but she completely put our minds at ease. Lotus clearly had an amazing time, made two new best friends, and was so well cared for. Melissa kept us updated with messages about their adventures, which really reassured us while we were away. She followed all our care instructions perfectly and went above and beyond. It’s obvious she genuinely loves dogs, and Lotus was absolutely spoilt. We’ll definitely be booking with her again, it’s such a relief to know we can go away without worrying. Truly 5-star care. Highly recommended!”

“Laura and her family took a good care of Bagel for 6 days. Bagel really loves them as always. Laura updated me with photos and videos every day. I will no doubt trust and choose Laura again.”

Zoe was amazing, Monty's first time away from us and he seemed to have settled in well. Will definitely book again. He enjoyed playing with Zoe's other dogs and we were sent photos of his normal positions (cuddled up on a sofa and running round a garden). Many thanks to Zoe

Graham was a very attentive and reliable dog boarder and quick to reply. During Henry’s weekday holiday in Graham’s home, I received plenty of videos, photos and audios, so Graham kept me updated which made me feel at ease. Graham walked Henry, gave him plenty of attention and fed him. Thank you very much Graham and we hope to see you soon.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
