Sarah and family were great. We were kept informed on our 2 dogs settling in and Sarah sent some nice photos. The dogs seemed very happy there. Drop off and collection was without fuss and Sarah took notes on the dogs routines etc. I would highly recomend Sarah and Rover in general.

Lisa is always amazing with Sadie. Sadie is an older dog, so always worry about leaving her but Lisa is great and reassuring. She really gives you peace of mind. She even takes numerous photos during her stay, showing me how much little Sadie is enjoying herself, out and about. Can’t recommend her enough.

Alexandra was very responsive and gave lots of pupdates! Rupert seemed comfortable right away and even went to a gala with the family. I would happily have Rupert stay with Alexandra and her family again.

Hollie looked after our 1 year old Lab Max for close to 10 days while we were on holiday. Max loved being at her home with her dogs and family and he was very well looked after in our absence. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Max with her again and recommend her whole-heartedly.

Danielle and her family were so good with Peanut. He’s never stayed with anyone other than friends, and they settled him in, and were mindful to his character. Cannot recommend highly enough. They are clearly experienced dog people.

We couldn't be happier with the care our dog received. From the moment we met Melissa, it was clear she genuinely love animals and takes her responsibilities seriously. Communication was excellent throughout, with regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we collected him. It was reassuring to know he was being treated like part of the family rather than just another booking. We would highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional dog sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of our boy – we wouldn't hesitate to use your services again in the future.

Would put more stars if we could ❤️ Alex and Chris looked after our pride and joy, 11 month old border collie just like we knew they would. Jota has had a great time, lots of pictures of him enjoying himself. We were immediately put at ease by a lovely couple and we did not worry once about if he would be well looked after because we knew he would. Lots of questions asked so they knew him and the family and they treated him like their own. Would highly recommend and Jota will be a frequent visitor in the future. Thank you 😊 for caring so much about him x

Lesley provided a wonderful three night stay for our cockapoo Ruby. She took time to find out about her routine and preferences and was obviously very experienced in caring for dogs. She was really welcoming and friendly with Ruby. The house and garden were really dog friendly. Lesley provided us with regular updates and photos and Ruby was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. No hesitation in recommending Lesley.

I wish I lived more locally because I’d have a dog sitter for life with Lauren if I could. Thank you so much!

Jo and her family welcomed my Elle into their home like she was one of their family. They kindly allowed her to stay in their bedroom too. Jo followed all of the care instructions perfectly & gave plenty of wiggle room for pick up times. Jo updated me with photos & how Elle was settling in which was very comforting. I would definitely book Jo again & would 100% recommend her to anyone else. Thank you Jo you were a star ⭐️

We booked for Cooper to stay with Poppy for 3 nights while we got married. Her communication was excellent from the moment we booked and she was kind enough to agree to an extra night after the initial booking. When I dropped Cooper off, Poppy and her husband spent time reassuring him and getting him settled. They are a lovely couple and also reassured me that he would be well cared for. Their cottage is situated in a beautiful area in the woods, surrounded by rivers and streams. While he was staying with them, they sent regular pictures and updates to let us know how he was getting on. I would 100% use Poppy to look after Cooper again if we were in the area. Thank you for taking such care of our boy x

What a couple of great guys! Michael and Geoff, were the perfect hosts :-) Kim loved her trial night and we feel confident to leave our dog with them while we go on two long haul holidays. We feel so relived to have found such great pet sitters in our local area, and can now relax and look forward to our holidays. Great communication and regular updates. These guys are sure to be in demand! See you soon xx

Zoe was amazing, Monty's first time away from us and he seemed to have settled in well. Will definitely book again. He enjoyed playing with Zoe's other dogs and we were sent photos of his normal positions (cuddled up on a sofa and running round a garden). Many thanks to Zoe

Graham was a very attentive and reliable dog boarder and quick to reply. During Henry’s weekday holiday in Graham’s home, I received plenty of videos, photos and audios, so Graham kept me updated which made me feel at ease. Graham walked Henry, gave him plenty of attention and fed him. Thank you very much Graham and we hope to see you soon.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Wyre on Rover is £35.65 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
