“Second stay for Bruce with Marnie & Eddie, he had a fabulous time. He’s cared for so well. Love the regular updates of what he’s been up to each day. Highly recommend!”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Sharon and John looking after Maggie! From the start, communication was excellent, and we received lots of lovely videos and pictures throughout her stay which really put our minds at ease. Maggie looked so happy, relaxed, and well cared for the entire time. It’s clear she was given plenty of attention, love, and care, and we could tell she felt completely comfortable. We’re so grateful for the updates and the genuine kindness shown towards her. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Maggie!”

“I was reluctant to leave my dog Ralph with a stranger at first. He is very much a loved member of the family. We was stuck as our daughter couldn't have him so I thought I'd give Rover a try, where we found Duncan (I didn't want him in the kennels). So glad I did. Ralph has had his very own holiday for a week! Duncan gave him so much love and attention, the daily updates as requested made us smile. You can tell he is an animal lover and takes his job very seriously. I hope in future Duncan has availability as he will be my first choice. 10/10 lovely guy”

“Elena was again fabulous. Lots of videos showing the lovely walks she took our girls on. Elena really cares and looks after our dogs, we would not have anyone else look after them. 💕”

“Dan was wonderful! Great communication from start to finish, very friendly and flexible on timings which was hugely helpful. Our dog Winston had a wonderful time and Dan kept contacted me throughout the day with updates and photos which was so thoughtful and reassuring! Would defo use Dan again - thanks!”

About: I have two very well trained and behaved dogs, Wispa and Mavis, and lifelong experience of dog ownership. I can accommodate all types of friendly dog into usual walks and I drive to a large enclosed field at least once daily, with a separate park walk too. Love dogs, enclosed garden, won't be left any longer than you feel comfortable. Your dogs will have their own room at night I work at home so I'm always around the house. Lunchtime walk nearby and a long evening off lead walk (if allowed) at an enclosed field is our routine, as my dogs have a lot of energy to burn off. Dogs have an enclosed back garden, and I have a large front garden too. Your dog will have its own room at night away from our dogs. Lots of attention and won't be left any longer than you say. I have two dogs, Wispa and Mavis, who I see all day working from home. I walk my dogs at least twice daily, lunchtime and evening, and they are seldom left. I have a car so drive out for a walk every evening in an enclosed space to throw a ball. I have always owned dogs and have experience with many breeds and sizes. My spare room will be your dog's in the evening for the stay, away from my dogs.

“It was the first time we had ever left Roxy overnight. We were really worried about leaving her at all. However we were greatly impressed with the young couple who looked after her. They went above and beyond to make Roxy feel at home and cared for her exceptionally well, sending us regular pup dates on how she was. They have a great set up and large garden, and are close to a large country park for walking and adventures. We both are very fussy people but we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high standard of care for their dog. We have already booked with them again, as we know Roxy will be well cared for.”

“From our first meeting with Kirsty and Darryl (and their dog Wicket and cats), I just knew I had found a great family to take the best care of my dog. She has just had her first stay, boarding for 14 nights, and I can’t thank them all enough for their care, attention and patience with her. I was able to relax and enjoy my holiday knowing how well she was being cared for. I received regular messages and photos, updating me on how she was going on, and could see that she too was having a great holiday with them. I highly recommend Kirsty and Darryl to anyone looking for boarding in a caring home environment. Thank you so much 😊”

About: My doggie died a few months back after 14 years , grown up around dogs & horses! Previous dog sitting & walking neighbourhood dogs! I have looked after dogs from puppies, to elderly dogs, it’s part of my nature and comes very naturally! I call myself the dog whisperer:) I am self employed, moved from London to Darwen. So I move my own schedule around and I find myself very bored most of the time. I feel a big gap in my life currently since my dog passed away, and would really love to get back into looking after dogs! I live in a 3 bedroom house, pretty much on my own. My partner works full time, 6 days a week. I have access to a lot of space , and a fenced garden. Easy access to beautiful countryside walks.

“Scarlett is a natural with dogs, when my blue first went to meet and greet her she was so comfortable with her,my dog normally runs away from people shes so timid but with scarlett she was so comfortable im happy with scarlett she takes care of blue brilliantly im so pleased.😊”

“Bruno had a week with Louise while we went on holiday. We were updated with pictures and could see how much he was enjoying himself. He had good long walks and loved playing with the family dog. He was treated as part of the family , which is important to us because Bruno is a big softie. Would recommend Louise 💯 thank you 🤩”

“We're very happy with the care our dog received staying with Larissa and will definitely be booking with her again. As this was the first time we have used an online boarding service and the first time leaving our dog we were a bit unsure how she would react to boarding. We needn't have worried, she didn't seem stressed in any way when we picked her up which says to me she was well cared for. Very happy with Rover and happy to recommend Larissa.”

About: My name is Jen, I am a farmers wife & work from home. The farm is based in the heart of the Ribble Valley with lots of good walking spots! The garden is large and secure. I have working dogs but sadly no longer a house dog. Visitors would need to be cat friendly ! My entire life has revolved around animals and still very much does. My days are spent on the farm and working with our show ponies. From 2013 I ran a very successful dog groomers called Hair & Hound which was based at Mrs Downsons for 5 years. The business grew from strength to strength with customers trusting the shop with their loved ones. Weekend in the summer are available depending on horse shows - best option is to throw me a message 😊 Being a farmer i am based at home, apart from when I am on the school run ! Any visitors would be let out at 6 am for wee’s & poo’s and generally go to bed at 10.30 pm. The garden is fenced. I am out and on the farm at 6 am. As I am based from home our animals, as you can imagine, get A LOT of attention through out the day! Dogs would not be allowed up stairs & would sleep in the kitchen.
“Zach and his partner always treat Hunter and Luna like part of their family. Hunter and Luna love going and I know they are always in good hands when they stay with them. Their dog Oreo is beautiful and playful. Hunter loves.having another dog to play with and Luna has really come out of her shell since they have been going to stay with Zach. I can’t recommend them enough if you are looking for a sitter 😊”

“Mark did a great job looking after my 2 dogs this weekend. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos he sent, which kept my mind at ease. My only piece of feedback is regarding the drop-off; Mark was headed out the door as I arrived, which felt a bit rushed and left me a little uneasy about them being left alone immediately. However, the dogs seemed happy and well-cared for upon my return.”

“This is the first time we have left our dog so we were anxious about it but Mike was very welcoming and reassuring. He sent us daily updates with photos, our dog Hudson went on lots of long walks. We will definitely rebook.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 13, and my love for animals started even earlier when one of my first jobs was working on a farm. I enjoy getting to know all types of dogs and their unique personalities, and nothing makes me happier than spending time with them. I can’t wait to meet some new four-legged best mates! I’m currently working part time on a zero hour contract so I have many available hours to provide the best care for your pets. I have a full UK driving license so travel isn’t a problem for me either. I will be sure to carefully follow any instructions given to me to provide tailored care to your pet as I know all dogs can be different. I live in a semi detached house with a good sized back garden securely kept with walls and fences. I currently don’t have any pets as mine recently sadly passed away after 12 years, I’m ready to look after a pet again without the full commitment

About: I have 2 dogs myself, have had dogs my whole life. I also have 1 cat and 18 chickens. I live in a cottage with large secure garden, loads of local walks in beautiful scenery. All my animals have a fab little country style life! Professionally, I run a large NHS training organisation, developing our future primary care workforce and I am a director of a charity. Heavily DBS checked! I work as the Head of a NHS training organisation and my partner is self employed. I work from home a number of days a week and this often means I sit with the dogs! On the days I need to attend the office, my partner is around to support with the doggy care duties! I have a fully fenced garden, gated and have 2 dogs a cat and 18 chickens! My girls (dogs) are friendly and happy to play! Chickens are secured and in their own area of the garden with and housed in a stable.

I can’t recommend Sharon and hubby enough. I found them at short notice when we needed a home for sally for the night. Sharon sent me an update and I instantly knew sally would be well looked after. Sally was relaxed and in her home from home when I collected her. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again x Thankyou. X

Elena is fantastic!! Immediately her and Zara hit it off, and she was sooo understanding of all Zara’s antics and behaviors. She kept me updated all the time with regular photo’s and videos. Zara loved her little stay over, with plenty of splashing around and roaming the woods.

Very polite and knows what she’s doing and it’s clear she’s got lots of experience. She was very accommodating for our dog. Also very fast at communicating on here too. Without doubt I would have violet look after our dog again and I would definitely recommend others to :)

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
