At the moment I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give dogs consistent attention, regular walks and a calm home environment throughout the day. I enjoy walking, hiking and trail running, so active dogs are very welcome, but I also adapt to dogs who prefer a slower pace and more routine-based care.

Information Duncan L. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about your dog’s normal routine, temperament, recall, medical needs and any behavioural quirks before booking. The more information I have, the easier it is to make your dog feel comfortable and settled during their stay. For first bookings, I prefer to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so I can understand your dog’s routine, behaviour and needs, and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled.
A typical day
A typical day will include structured walks, outdoor time, play and relaxed downtime depending on the individual dog’s energy levels and routine. I try to keep dogs mentally engaged without overstimulating them, and evenings are usually calm and settled to help dogs feel secure and comfortable away from home. Owners can also expect regular updates and photos during stays.

Pet care experience
I provide calm, attentive and individualised care for dogs in a quiet home environment overlooking Corporation Park in Blackburn, with easy access to larger walking areas including Witton Park and Billinge Woods. I have a background in occupational therapy studies, which has shaped the way I now approach dog care. I pay close attention to behaviour, routine, body language and individual needs rather than treating every dog the same way. Some dogs need more activity and engagement, others need a calmer and more predictable environment, and I adapt accordingly. As a child, and teenager, our family pet (a Jack Russell) gave me an early understanding of canine behaviour and communication. More recently, I have gained additional hands-on experience helping care for dogs with varying temperaments and energy levels. I enjoy walking, hiking and trail running, so active dogs are very welcome, but I also value structure and calm routines. Walks are purposeful and suited to the individual dog, and evenings are generally relaxed and settled to help dogs feel secure and comfortable away from home. At the moment I am taking time away from my studies, which means I have the flexibility and availability to dedicate proper time and attention to the dogs in my care rather than fitting them around a busy schedule. I offer home boarding, walks, and house sitting, and I aim to create an environment where dogs feel safe, understood and well looked after. For first bookings, I prefer to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so I can understand your dog’s routine, behaviour and needs, and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled.

Reviews

Duncan was fantastic with our two dogs. He provided fun and exercise for them. He kept us informed when we were away. I would not hesitate Duncan looking after our dogs again

Duncan has been amazing with our two dachshund girls. They are quite reactive, like a lot of sausages, but we introduced them slowly; leaving them with him for a day, and then overnight on another occasion. By the time we were leaving them with him for a week, they had already warmed to him and this made us feel really comfortable leaving them to go on holiday. He has a very calming influence on the dogs and makes you feel at ease too. We got updates every day to let is know how they were getting on, and this really helped us be able to relax and enjoy our time away. Will be using Duncan again, and would definitely recommend him 🙂

Duncan has done some drop in visits and our two dogs are going to stay with him soon. Very experienced and caring with dogs. They will have lots of fun.

Duncan was incredible fron start to finish. Stepped in to help at very short notice and went above and beyond. Cant recommend him highly enough. Bailey was looked after so well, we got daily updates and I think Bailey is now sulking to be home
