At the moment I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give dogs consistent attention, regular walks and a calm home environment throughout the day. I enjoy walking, hiking and trail running, so active dogs are very welcome, but I also adapt to dogs who prefer a slower pace and more routine-based care.

Information Duncan L. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about your dog’s normal routine, temperament, recall, medical needs and any behavioural quirks before booking. The more information I have, the easier it is to make your dog feel comfortable and settled during their stay. For first bookings, I prefer to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so I can understand your dog’s routine, behaviour and needs, and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled.
A typical day
A typical day will include structured walks, outdoor time, play and relaxed downtime depending on the individual dog’s energy levels and routine. I try to keep dogs mentally engaged without overstimulating them, and evenings are usually calm and settled to help dogs feel secure and comfortable away from home. Owners can also expect regular updates and photos during stays.

Pet care experience
I provide calm, attentive and individualised care for dogs in a quiet home environment overlooking Corporation Park in Blackburn, with easy access to larger walking areas including Witton Park and Billing Woods. My background is in occupational therapy studies, which has shaped the way I approach dog care. I pay close attention to behaviour, routine, body language and individual needs rather than treating every dog the same way. Some dogs need more activity and engagement, others need a calmer and more predictable environment, and I adapt accordingly. I grew up with Cass, a Jack Russell, from childhood into my teens, which gave me an early understanding of canine behaviour and communication. More recently, I have gained additional hands-on experience helping care for dogs with varying temperaments and energy levels. I enjoy walking, hiking and trail running, so active dogs are very welcome, but I also value structure and calm routines. Walks are purposeful and suited to the individual dog, and evenings are generally relaxed and settled to help dogs feel secure and comfortable away from home. At the moment I am taking time away from my studies, which means I have the flexibility and availability to dedicate proper time and attention to the dogs in my care rather than fitting them around a busy schedule. I offer home boarding, walks, and house sitting, and I aim to create an environment where dogs feel safe, understood and well looked after. For first bookings, I prefer to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so I can understand your dog’s routine, behaviour and needs, and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled.

Reviews

Duncan was absolutely amazing with our family’s cockapoo. He offered a meet and greet session and we took our dog for a walk. Duncan was brilliant putting our dog at ease straight away with his calm manner. Duncan was very happy to fit in with our dog’s routine and was very good at keeping us regularly updated with videos and photos of his progress. We are very grateful for the individual care and attention he gave our dog. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for dog care
Duncan has looked after Buffy on several occasions. Despite Buffy being a little off with men, she seems fully comfortable with Duncan and she looks forward to seeing him which is the most important thing for me.
Duncan volunteered at a community art centre where I was a director and he was one of the most trusted and liked members of our team. He gets on with everyone, is reliable and honest, incredibly creative and a real problem solver. He is also incredibly kind and gentle and the person who people go to if they're not feeling great or if they need support. I would absolutely trust him with our pet and I know she would love him.
Duncan has looked after our dog Ruby, a Jackapoo, several times while we have been away, for weekends and for longer stays, and we have always felt completely comfortable leaving her in his care. He is calm, patient and very attentive to her individual personality and routine. Ruby can be wary around men, but Duncan took the time to build trust with her gently and patiently, and she now absolutely loves him. It was clear from the beginning that he pays close attention to dogs’ behaviour and comfort levels rather than treating every dog the same way. He is reliable, thoughtful and genuinely cares about animals, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and responsible dog sitter.
