Marjorie and her husband were amazing and accommodating from the beginning. We were let down last minute to look after our boy and she took him on. With updates and pictures every day and spoiling Winston and including him in every day life. A great bond was formed between them. Since we have been home, we have had one sulking boy for the first day or two back as he thoroughly enjoyed his time there that much. A nice big house, back field and near by woodland that he enjoyed daily to tire him out. Two lovely people with an evident love of animals and dogs. Rest assured, your dog will be looked after and loved as if one of their pets. We could not recommend highly enough and will always look to have Winston stay there when we are away in future. Thank you both so much

Baz made the whole process easy and stress free. He responded quickly to messages and he was flexible with drop off and pick up times. He instantly made Reggie feel at home and sent us daily photos and updates to let us know how settled he was. We can’t recommend Baz and his daughter enough and we would definitely rebook with him next time.

Thanks so much to Amy and her boy friend for taking great care of our pup Rudi for his first over night stay. Such a friendly couple and a lovely home. We loved receiving the photo updates and Rudi clearly had a great time with Skye. Would highly recommend Amy and we’ll definitely be booking in again.

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover living in Higherford with my 14 year-old son, Billy. We both love spending time with dogs and treat every pet that stays with us as part of the family. We previously owned a lovely Whippet, so we understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your dog. We currently dog sit for friends and have loved every minute of it, so we’ve decided to open our home to more furry guests through Rover. Our home has a secure garden and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it the perfect place for plenty of walks, fresh air, and adventures. I enjoy fell walking and keeping fit, so your dog will get lots of exercise, attention, and affection. We also have our friendly tripod cat, Seth, who is used to dogs and can be kept completely separate from visiting pets if needed. I know every dog is different, so I’ll always do my best to stick to their usual routine and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet you and your four-legged family member! 🐶 I work from home with a flexible schedule, so I’m around for most of the day to provide plenty of company, care, and regular toilet breaks. This also means I can adapt to your dog’s usual routine, whether they enjoy long walks, playtime, or simply relaxing with company. Your dog will rarely be left alone and will receive lots of attention throughout their stay. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I provide a calm, loving home where dogs are treated like part of the family. I have front and back gardens for fresh air and outdoor time, along with a bright conservatory that’s perfect for dogs who love to relax and soak up the sunshine. I work from home with a flexible schedule, so your dog will have plenty of company, regular toilet breaks, and lots of attention throughout the day. I always follow each owner’s instructions and routine to help every dog feel safe, settled, and at home

About: We have taken care of dogs and cats since we were both in our teens, we are both animal lovers and will treat your animals like they are our own. We have have both owned a number of different breeds from small dogs such as Jack Russell’s to big dogs like huskies and we have a lot of experience with staffy’s. We are both trained in basic doggie first aid and CPR as well as fully insured ⛑️ so you can rest assured your dogs are in safe hands. Pet sitting and walking is my full time job and my partner works part time so we are both available most of the time. We don’t walk on Sundays. I have a back tat that has high walls and a high fence. We have the best of both World as we do not currently live together so we can accommodate dogs that do not get on with other dogs as Ella can stay either of our homes. We are fully insured for Dog walking and pet sitting and we can provide the proof of this.

Leah looked after our dog Larry for two nights. All the way through she made things super easy and reassuring with amazing communication in the lead up and updates throughout his stay. She was confident in giving his medication too which was so helpful. On top of giving Larry the best possible care and lots of attention, Leah went above and beyond and was able to bring Larry to our weddings drinks reception. She dropped him off and collected him and was super flexible with the timings. So many other dog chaperone services charge hundreds for this, but Leah was so generous with her time and invested in making our day even more magical, all for her standard Rover rate. Thank you again Leah!!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
