“Lauren and family were absolutely amazing! They had shadow for a week while we were on our holidays and we got regular daily updates of her having the absolute best time. I cannot recommend these guys enough.”

About: We’ve had dogs in our family for over 20 years, from Border Collies and King Charles Spaniels to our much-loved Labrador, who we sadly lost recently. Dogs have always been a huge part of our lives, and Rover feels like a lovely way to keep dogs in our home while offering a safe, loving place for other people’s fur babies. We are fully licensed, insured and DBS checked, so you can feel confident that your dog will be cared for in a safe, responsible and professional home environment. We live in the beautiful village of Cowling, close to the Yorkshire Dales and surrounded by lovely countryside walks. As we are at home throughout the day, your dog will have company, care and attention, with someone around to help them feel settled and relaxed. Your dog will be treated as part of the family, with plenty of companionship, walks, home comforts and love. We know how important it is to feel confident leaving your dog with someone new, so we’ll always take time to understand their routine, personality and any special requirements before their stay. We are at home throughout the day, so dogs staying with us will have plenty of company, care and attention. Our routine is calm and flexible, with time for walks, play, rest and cuddles depending on each dog’s needs. We live in Cowling, close to the Yorkshire Dales, so we are surrounded by lovely countryside walks and peaceful places for dogs to enjoy. We’ll always follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walk preferences, sleep habits and any special requirements. Your dog will be cared by myself and my husband Steven in our home as part of the family. We have many years of experience caring for dogs, from Border Collies and King Charles Spaniels to Labradors, and we understand how important it is to make dogs feel safe, settled and loved. We have a large fenced-off garden where dogs can enjoy fresh air, play and toilet breaks safely, as well as beautiful countryside walks close by in and around Cowling and the Yorkshire Dales. We are fully licensed, insured and DBS checked, giving you extra peace of mind when leaving your dog with us. We’ll take time to understand your dog’s personality, routine and any needs before their stay, and we’re happy to arrange a meet and greet so everyone feels comfortable. Our home is calm, caring and surrounded by countryside, making it a lovely environment for dogs who enjoy company, walks, rest and home comforts.
“Our puppy’s first stay for a day and night with someone else and it couldn’t have gone any better. Baz kept us regularly updated with photos, videos updates and our puppy looked like she was having a brilliant time. Put our minds at ease immediately and will definitely be using Baz again next time we need a dog sitter. Thanks”

“Daisy had a wonderful 10 days with Leah! She was kept busy with lots of walks, gun and cuddles, and Leah kept us updated with photos and videos throughout. Not sure what Leah did, but Daisy came back noticeably better behaved. We would definitely book again. Thank you Leah! 🐾”

“Second stay for Bruce with Marnie & Eddie, he had a fabulous time. He’s cared for so well. Love the regular updates of what he’s been up to each day. Highly recommend!”

“This was Bella’s first stay with Sam a trial run following her previous sitters emigration, Bella took a little while to settle in but then was really relaxed sunbathing in front of the window and had a great run in the field. She got on really well with Rocky and they chased each other around. We were kept up to date with messages and videos of Bella’s stay all in all a successful trial and have now booked for Sam and Max to look after Bella while we were away.”

“Katie was friendly and instantly made Teddy feel relaxed . Her communication was brilliant and she was very gracious and accommodating with Teddy’s needs . I went away feeling confident my dog was in good hands . Thanks Katie I would highly recommend!”

“Amy was brilliant, so welcoming and great communication start to finish. Goose clearly felt happy and he was the calmest he's been when we've picked him up from anywhere! Absolutely would recommend and we'll be booking again in the future 😊”

“Oscar’s third time back to Sophie and Adam’s and he’s now at the point where he gets excited when we pull up outside. Sophie and Adam treat Oscar just as they treat their own dog Poppy and we can see how happy he is when we get our regular updates through”

“Jordan, her partner and her three gorgeous dogs are absolutely perfect sitters! Jordan made sure she really got to know our dog before he stayed with her, and as a result we felt so comfortable leaving him with them. Communication was amazing, and we received lots of photos of our dog during his stay. He was so sad to leave! We will definitely be using Jordan's services again :) thank you!”

About: I have taken care of many of my friends dogs whilst they go on holiday(s) over the last 5 years. This has included two beautiful, high energy spaniels and older Dachshunds. I work from home and have a spaniel myself so I’m constantly out and about making sure they have the best day. I wake up around 5.45 on week days and take George (my spaniel) on a nice 5k walk along the canal. I work from home so will get my morning meetings out of the way, let George out in the back yard in between. I usually walk to the local park at lunch which is around 2.5k round trip. And after work, depending on what I have planned we usually are out and about places. Quick walk around the block just before we go to bed. I have a fenced yard. Plenty of room in the kitchen to keep a cage. A ring camera that overlooks into the kitchen for if I need to nip out to the shops. And George is the most loving companion, he has been so socialised since I’ve had him that he loves having other dogs over for sleepovers.
“First stay-over at Rafael’s, for my 2 dogs, Colin & Belle… Rafael was absolutely brilliant with my dogs & I picked them up all chilled out & happy… Rafael had walked them & played with them lots during the day & sent me video & pics of them, along with regular updates… Rafael made my 2 very comfy at night so they had a really good sleep!… Rafael was very attentive & caring to Colin & Belle and they really enjoyed their visit with her & I’ve already booked my next one!… I couldn’t recommend Rafael enough!”

“Gino has had an absolute ball with Andrew and Nicky. He has walked miles exploring new places, visited China Town on the bus and to met all the locals. Highly recommend Andrew and nick to look after your pup. You will be reassured and content knowing your pup is not only looked after but having an adventure as well xxx”

“Beth and Ross made me feel at ease, as soon as I dropped Snoop off. You can tell they are absolute dog lovers, and snoop took to them instantly. I received plenty of updates and pictures whilst I was away, and they seemed upset to see him go. I will 100% use them when I next need a dog sitter.”

“perfect in every way. This is the second time I requested Jessica. Jessica took care of my dog so well I think he would rather remain there.:-). She and her son are loving and took great care with Buddy. I will use them again”

“Thank you so much for looking after Tessa. She had a lovely time and was very well cared for. Kerrie sent me updates throughout Tessa's stay and it was clear that Tessa was happy and had a great time. Thank you 😊”
“This is the second time Lola has stayed with Leah and once again we’ve had absolutely no concerns at all. Leah is brilliant with her, keeps us updated, and it’s obvious Lola is really well looked after and comfortable in her care. It’s so reassuring knowing we can leave Lola and not have to worry. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again — highly recommend!”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
