“Absolutely — here’s a warm, glowing version that really highlights how brilliant they were: Sharron and Steve were absolutely incredible looking after Dexter! From the moment I dropped him off, they completely put my mind at ease and I knew he was in the best possible hands. Dexter is a very energetic spaniel, but they took everything in their stride and gave him so much love, attention and care during his stay. It was clear from the updates and photos that Dexter was having the absolute best time, and he came home happy and settled — it was obvious he had thoroughly enjoyed himself! I honestly couldn’t have asked for better sitters, and I’m so grateful for how wonderfully they looked after him. Thank you so much for everything, Sharron and Steve. You were both absolutely brilliant, and I would 100% recommend you to anyone. We will definitely be coming back in the future! ❤️”

“Second stay for Bruce with Marnie & Eddie, he had a fabulous time. He’s cared for so well. Love the regular updates of what he’s been up to each day. Highly recommend!”

“We would absolutely recommend Andrew and Nicky. We are bowled over with how much love and attention they have provided for our 13 year old schnauzer. He has come back in great form. Andrew and Nicky followed all our guidance and adjusted care to incorporate an older dogs requirements…we were so reassured by all they did for him ; especially during a heat wave. We will definitely be using their services again if we need them. Thanks ☺️”

“Baz made the whole process easy and stress free. He responded quickly to messages and he was flexible with drop off and pick up times. He instantly made Reggie feel at home and sent us daily photos and updates to let us know how settled he was. We can’t recommend Baz and his daughter enough and we would definitely rebook with him next time.”

“So happy with my dog Bramble staying with Sophie. We received lots of updates, photos plus video where Bramble looked super happy and content. I would definitely recommend Thank you both.”

“Adam and his partner have been very understanding with taking care of my dad's dog over the weekend; they made sure they stuck to his schedule and comforted him when he was feeling a little lonely! Very accommodating and would definitely recommend and use again!”

“Gemma was friendly, accommodating and very attentive to our dog’s needs. We were delighted to hear she took our dog for nice long walks and she was well cared for throughout her stay in her lovely home. Gemma was very flexible despite our last minute booking, we really appreciated it.”

“Our Frenchie Daisy had such a lovely time with Anca and her family. She was extremely well looked after and treated as one of their own family. We received updates, picture and videos throughout her stay and can honestly say that we were in no doubt at anytime about how well she was cared for. Thank you so much Anca, Daisy cannot wait to stay again 😁”

“Our little staffie Mia had the best time with Kirsty. She was cared for incredibly well, walked daily and Kirsty also sent us lots of pictures. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. You won’t find anyone better. Once again, thank you”

“Dawn is an absolute superstar. She looked after my Tilly dog for a week, sent us loads of videos and pictures and it was really clear that Tilly was having a great time. She got loads of cuddles and fuss and great walks and has come home very happy. Absolutely wouldn't hesitate to use Dawn again!”

About: I have owned dogs or 40 years , looked after friends dogs . Dogs coming to my home will be treated like a member of our family . Everything we do evolves around our dog. I currently am mummy to Peggy who is a very cute yorkie / cross . I have owned many large breeds over the years . There are no boundaries in my home , easy access to our garden . I am home all day every day , I have taken early retirement. My days are spent dog walking , diy , cooking etc . Your pooch will never be left alone . Guaranteed 3 lovely park walks per day . I am only wanting to board 1 extra dog as well as my own so that I can give one to one attention to our guest !! They will have the run of our house & a garden to mooch around in . My dog Peggy loves other dogs & is very sociable. She spends most days sitting in the garden bird watching !!! Your pooch is welcome to come & go from house to garden , the front door is always open ,large gates , very safe garden. We socialise with lots of other doggy friends & owners , sometimes meeting for coffee in local park , my home is a family home with frequent visits from my daughter & 4 year old Grandson .
“Sarah looked after my dog beautifully - it was the first time I had ever left her overnight and Sarah was wonderfully calm and capable. Sarah sent me updates so I had great peace of mind. Five stars, would definitely recommend.”

“As everyone else’s review said - absolutely delighted with our Luna’s stay with Charlotte. We received pictures and updates daily, which was great as we were missing Luna quite a bit. Highly recommended!”

“Thank you for having Zazu. She has a blast we enjoyed receiving regular pup dates on how she was and you were responsive and helpful from the point of enquiry to completion of the booking”

“Sue was just brilliant with Poppy who really struggled to settle, especially overnight, as she has rarely boarded and is more of an issue now she is a senior. Sue was in regular contact, was very loving and kind to Poppy despite quite a few anxiety related accidents. We switched to day boarding which went well. Thank you Sue, can see why you’re star rated !”

“Jacqui really took care of our furry girl. Her dog looked after her too! I couldn't have asked for more and totally felt Elly was settled and very happy. We will definitely use Jacqui again.”

“Amazing sitter, I can't recommend highly enough. Kept me up to date and definitely loved them both like her own. I wouldn't hesitate booking again in the future, once she's caught her breath again 🙈😂”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
