“Absolutely — here’s a warm, glowing version that really highlights how brilliant they were: Sharron and Steve were absolutely incredible looking after Dexter! From the moment I dropped him off, they completely put my mind at ease and I knew he was in the best possible hands. Dexter is a very energetic spaniel, but they took everything in their stride and gave him so much love, attention and care during his stay. It was clear from the updates and photos that Dexter was having the absolute best time, and he came home happy and settled — it was obvious he had thoroughly enjoyed himself! I honestly couldn’t have asked for better sitters, and I’m so grateful for how wonderfully they looked after him. Thank you so much for everything, Sharron and Steve. You were both absolutely brilliant, and I would 100% recommend you to anyone. We will definitely be coming back in the future! ❤️”

“This is the first time we have left our dog Tia with anyone for a week, but now we have found Marnie and Eddie we wouldn't hesitate to leave her again. We had regular video and photo updates of Tia's mini holiday, so this helped us to enjoy holiday, know that see was being well cared for. Since we've come home, Tia's been very quite and we think she definitely missing them. We can't highly recommend and thank Marnie and Eddie enough, for giving Tia a loving home for a week.”

“Oscar’s third time back to Sophie and Adam’s and he’s now at the point where he gets excited when we pull up outside. Sophie and Adam treat Oscar just as they treat their own dog Poppy and we can see how happy he is when we get our regular updates through”

“Oslo has stayed with Amanda a few times now. He is always very excited to return. He receives great care and Amanda provides updates and photos at least once a day. Would highly recommend.”

“My golden doodle, Jimmy, had an overnight stay with Alex in her home. I was very happy with the service she provided. She is clearly an experienced dog sitter and was very attentive to all of his needs. She sent us texts, a video and photos so that I knew Jimmy was behaving himself, which was very reassuring. When I arrived to collect Jimmy, he was stretched out on her windowsill, enjoying the sunshine, and was very relaxed. I would highly recommend her as a dog sitter and we have booked Jimmy in to spend 9 days with her in September. I can now look forward to my holiday and feel confident that my dog will be absolutely fine and well looked after by Alex whilst we are away.”

“Sophie is a life saver. She agreed to take care of my dogs as a replacement sitter for an urgent situation that happened while I am away abroad. She described my dogs as easy to handle, while I know that Russell (who is almost 17 yo) is sometimes not very easy. Sophie is patient and understands the need of a senior dog. She is a very reliable, responsible sitter. Thank you so much.”
“Sarah was brilliant from start to finish: she was very happy to meet us beforehand to meet Maya and have a chat, and sent us lots of updates and photos during the week we were away. Maya was very happy there, and we would definitely recommend Sarah to others!”

“Gino has had an absolute ball with Andrew and Nicky. He has walked miles exploring new places, visited China Town on the bus and to met all the locals. Highly recommend Andrew and nick to look after your pup. You will be reassured and content knowing your pup is not only looked after but having an adventure as well xxx”

“Amy did a fantastic sit for Tess - it’s so clear she loves animals. Communication was amazing with lots of photos and Tess was so obviously well looked after. She even ate her food which is incredibly rare when she’s not at home. We will definitely use Amy again and would highly recommend her.”

“Love Jessica and James! We feel so lucky to have connected with them. They took amazing care of our little Stanley and he was kept busy and entertained the entire time we were away. They took him on daily walks with their dog Cookie and the two pups played together splendidly in their lovely garden. It was the perfect vacation for Stanley and we couldn’t be happier. They kept us updated with pictures of their adventures and we knew he was in good hands with them. I’m certain he’s going to be missing them for quite some time. We can’t recommend Jessica and James highly enough and can assure anyone that their pets will be well cared for and loved. Thank you, thank you!!! 😊”

“What a lovely sitter ! She was so kind and kept me updated with loads of photos and videos which bring me great joy to see my girl so happy in her care. Saffie has made some new friends ! I would definitely recommend Vivianne to anyone needing a sitter, she has a lovely home and garden that the dogs enjoy.”

“Lovey guy. Completely understood Bruno. Really good at communicating. Felt totally at ease with Joe and didn't worry in the slightest. We would definitely use him again! Thanks 😁”

“Another great time Bruno had with Leah. Bruno spent 2 weeks with Leah and he was very well cared for and had a great time. When we returned from holidays Bruno was relaxed and happy. Thank you for everything.”

“Anca and her family are so lovely. Trevor had an absolutely lovely time and was treated like a king. Anca sent regular updates and we know Trevor felt right at home! Thank you”

“As everyone else’s review said - absolutely delighted with our Luna’s stay with Charlotte. We received pictures and updates daily, which was great as we were missing Luna quite a bit. Highly recommended!”

“Emma and family have been great looking after Luna our one year old springador. Excellent communicator and really accommodating with pick up and drop off times. Will continue to use Emma for all our future dog sitting and recommend her to others as well.”

“Martha was happy with Hollie which meant we could have a lovely relaxed weekend at a family wedding. She sent regular updates which reassured us that she was well looked after.”

“I felt very secure leaving Tilly with Luke. I felt confident leaving Tilly in the care of someone kind, calm, and knowledgeable about dogs and their welfare. It was wonderful to get updates and photos of her while I was away, too. Luke will always be my first choice for looking after Tilly while I am away; I have no hesitation in recommending him! Tilly was taken to the local Christmas fair for her off-leash runs and lead walks and also bought a treat, which was much appreciated. Thanks again, Luke and partner”

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
