“Anca is a super friendly, super helpful and lovely dog sitter. We had never left our pup with anyone before and we weren't sure what to expect but Anca was brilliant. We got regular updates and photos and she was very reassuring. She was also extremely understanding when our train was cancelled and we were later getting back than we had originally planned. Best of all, our dog came home happy, healthy and well looked after. Would highly recommend Anca's services.”

“Love Jessica and James! We feel so lucky to have connected with them. They took amazing care of our little Stanley and he was kept busy and entertained the entire time we were away. They took him on daily walks with their dog Cookie and the two pups played together splendidly in their lovely garden. It was the perfect vacation for Stanley and we couldn’t be happier. They kept us updated with pictures of their adventures and we knew he was in good hands with them. I’m certain he’s going to be missing them for quite some time. We can’t recommend Jessica and James highly enough and can assure anyone that their pets will be well cared for and loved. Thank you, thank you!!! 😊”

Can't wait to book another stay 🤗”

“Amrie was fantastic with Pumpkin. She settled and felt at ease straight away. She stayed for a week, and I got lots of great updates and knew my dog was having the best time. I’m so grateful, I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Pumpkin with Amrie again.”

About: Hi, im Hayley and ive been around dogs pretty much my whole life! Looking after them comes naturally and its always been a big part of who I am. Family and friends always come to us to look after there fur babies as they know there in safe hands. My husband and two children are also huge dog lovers too so our home is full of cuddles, fun and plenty of attention. Whether your dog loves playing, exploring or just curling up for a snooze they'll be treated like one of the family and made to feel right at home while your away. Im currently working part time i only work 4 hours in a morning and my husband matthew works from home so we have plenty of time to walk ,play and give your dog attention while in our care. We have two children mia and lucas who adore dogs! so they wouldnt be a shortage of people giving them attention. We dont have our own dog but have looked after family and friends for a lot a years and that gives us great joy. 🥰 We have a secure fenced in garden and your dog will have full access to all downstairs of our home. If your dog will only settle on a night sleeping in the bedroom near people we will be happy do that too. we welcome a face to face meet and greet so you can get to know us and see our home and we can meet your fur baby prior to us looking after them. We also give daily watts app pictures and updates if you would like too.

We will definitely be using Dawn again in the future, thank you! 🩷”

“Absolute first class experience with Christie who cared for our two boys for 9 days. She went above and beyond to make Ernie, Bailey and us comfortable during their stay and we were provided with regular updates and pictures of their ‘holiday’ with Christie and her family. Would not hesitate to book again and recommend to others, absolute gem of a sitter, thank you again Christie! ⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Leah and her fiancé were absolutely fantastic and really helped me out super last minute when a different sitter had an unexpected loss in their family. Rey was really well looked after and even had a lot of company from other pups in the house. Communication was instant and really put my mind at ease. I would not hesitate a second to recommend Leah’s services to look after your fur baby.

Susan was very friendly and caring, and my dog Zeus really enjoyed his time with her. He had lovely walks, was well looked after, and even enjoyed relaxing and sleeping on the sofa! 🐶❤️ I’m very happy with the care Zeus received and would definitely recommend her.

Abigail is a fantastic host. During her week-long stay, Skye was very well looked after and cared for and had lots of walks. We received video and photo updates throughout her stay showing how happy she was. I would 100% recommend Abigail and Skye would love to stay with her again

Would highly recommend Adam and Stevie. Our little Frenchie Looked so happy and content it was so lovely to see on the pictures how amazing you were with her. Will definitely book fort Harper to stay again it was the first time for harper staying away and I know she would be 100% happy to stay again and I will be content knowing that she’s well looked after getting spoilt with lots of attention 🤩

This was only the second time I'd left my dog overnight with anyone so I was a bit nervous. My dog Daisy is going through the teenage stage and is also pretty strong but I felt reassured once we met up with Ysobel and her dog. She clearly knew how to handle dogs. I would be very happy to leave Daisy with Ysobel in the future. She obviously had a great time being with Ysobel's dog Tess and would have been happy to stay there. I'd certainly be happy for Daisy to stay with Ysobel again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
