“Thank you so much for looking after Mabel again. She had the best time, I can tell from the photos you sent and from having to drag her out of your house again when we picked her up ha ha. I don’t have to worry at all when she is with you. She already cannot wait for her next visit. X”

“Anca and her family are so lovely. Trevor had an absolutely lovely time and was treated like a king. Anca sent regular updates and we know Trevor felt right at home! Thank you”

“Helena is so good! She is having my Rottie puppy at the end of April for a weekend and has worked with me to do lots of settling days. She slept there last night for the first time and Helena was brilliant. I always worry that she’s a lot for people but Helena Makes me feel at ease and I know my pooch loves her time with her! Comes home shattered from all the walking and playing! Thankyou Helena!”

“I couldn’t be happier with Luke and the care he gave to Lola during her recent boarding stay! From the very beginning, communication was excellent — quick updates, photos, and videos throughout the visit gave me total peace of mind. It was clear that Lola felt right at home. She got plenty of walks, cuddles, and playtime, and came back to me happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I would absolutely recommend Luke to anyone looking for a caring and reliable boarder. I’ll definitely be booking again!”

“Joe and Anna took amazing care of Billy whilst we were at a wedding. I think he thoroughly enjoyed his day with you! We loved having the regular updates, thank you both so much!!”

“Herbie stayed with Claire while we went to the oasis gig. This was Herbies first time with Claire and she arranged a meet and greet before the stay. On the day Claire got in touch and was flexible about when we dropped off. Claire in friendly and her home is spotlessly clean. She asked lots of questions to understand Herbies routine. When I collected Herbie Claire gave me a full rundown of events.”

“Lovely family and really cared for my Iris bedlington terrier. Sent lots of photos which really reassured us as it was the first time we have left her behind and was quite nervous and sad about leaving her. Can't recommend Kirsty and the rest of her wonderful family and will definitely be using their services if and when we next dare go away!”

“Tom and Laura are lovely! They were very welcoming and took time to find out all about our dog. She had a wonderful time with them. We had updates letting us know that she had settled well and also photographs. She was at ease with them and enjoyed all her walks and the swim in the river! She had lots of cuddles and was really well cared for. I would not hesitate to recommend them and we will definitely be using their services again.”
“Daniel was an exceptional dog boarder for our basset hound puppy Darwin, he is very knowledgeable about dogs and an excellent dog trainer and carer. Throughout the week, he provided us with regular updates with plenty of photos and videos of Darwin enjoying his walks and adventures. These updates were incredibly reassuring, we are really attached to our pup and missed him alot and the updates really helped. When we picked up Darwin, we could tell that he had formed a strong bond with Daniel and his partner, they went above and beyond in caring for Darwin. We will definitely use Daniel's services again in the future. Thank you!”

“Freddie has just come back from a short stay at Carol's, where he was made well and truly at home. He clearly revelled in all the attention he got. It's nice to feel confident that he is in such good hands and he will certainly look forward to his next holiday. Thank you!”
“Jack was fantastic with Freddie. We got regular updates of their time and Fred came back exhausted after a couple of adventures. We’ll definitely be using Jack again and I’m sure Fred will be excited to stay again!”

“Kate was great with my dog. She was very communicative, clearly really enjoyed caring for him, and he took to her really well. It was so nice knowing he was happy, relaxed, and having a little play. I’d definitely recommend her.”

“Review Katarzyna took care of our Labrador Spencer for 2 1/2 weeks whilst we took a family holiday. We met with her twice before our trip and both times she filled us with confidence that she would take good care of him and give him the time, attention and care he has at home. During our holiday we were sent frequent photos, videos and updates of Spencer and always received quick replies to our messages and questions. Spencer appears to have had a great ‘holiday’ and clearly enjoyed the experience of mixing with other dogs in a safe and well managed environment. Spencer has come home happy and healthy. We would highly recommend Katarzyna and would use her to care for Spencer again if she is available in the future.”

Rita was the perfect sitter for our Ernie. I was very anxious about leaving him with someone outside of the family for the 1st time & Ernie was only a pup. But she kept us up to date with messages & pictures while we were away. Which put my mind at ease. Ernie settled in well & was very happy with Rita.. Will deffinatly be using her again..😀

Could not recommend Caysey more. You can tell she has such a genuine love for dogs and is incredibly caring. She looked after Toffee for one night, and as he has quite bad separation anxiety, I was naturally a little worried. But it was clear how settled and comfortable he was with Caysey from the start. He got plenty of attention, lots of love, and even made a new friend in Pablo! When she dropped him back off, I honestly think he wanted to go home with her instead 🤣. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him. we'll definitely be booking again!

Lily and Joe were amazing with Ember, thank you so much for your care with little Miss Em's. She looked so comfortable with you both and very happy to be with you both very quickly. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon. Thanks again Ember, Linda and family x
Emma provided the perfect stay for Pippa, our Yellow Labrador. Pippa was very relaxed with all of Emma's lovely family. Pippa settled in quickly and was taken for some long walks. We received several photos of Pippa so we could see how settled and happy she was. It was also evident that Emma and her family enjoyed looking after Pippa! We highly recommend Emma and will definitely use her service again.

Harry and Floz were amazing with Freddie. We’re always a little nervous when leaving Fred as he can get anxious in new places but we were put at ease straight away..they were both externally friendly and embraced Fred for his goofy excitedness. We were sent plenty of updates and photos and Freddie seemed to feel right at home! We’ve already got him rebooked with them both and I’m sure Fred’s looking forward to his next stay.

We are so happy to have found Florence and Harry! Such a kind and caring duo to have placed our two Frenchies in the care of. We were sent wonderful pics of them both thoroughly enjoying their stay and we are so grateful for the love they showed our dogs. We cannot be any happier so we will book again, this time for a home stay to look after all our three dogs and cat. Perfect!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
