“Dexter absolutely loved staying with Luke and his partner! They went above and beyond to keep Dexter happy and cool in the 30 degree heat they had while we were away! Wouldn’t hesitate to leave Dexter again 😊”

“Emma provided the perfect stay for Pippa, our Yellow Labrador. Pippa was very relaxed with all of Emma's lovely family. Pippa settled in quickly and was taken for some long walks. We received several photos of Pippa so we could see how settled and happy she was. It was also evident that Emma and her family enjoyed looking after Pippa! We highly recommend Emma and will definitely use her service again.”

“Lovely family and really cared for my Iris bedlington terrier. Sent lots of photos which really reassured us as it was the first time we have left her behind and was quite nervous and sad about leaving her. Can't recommend Kirsty and the rest of her wonderful family and will definitely be using their services if and when we next dare go away!”

“Pepe came back happy and I was given updates regularly. He had even been bathed and smelled lovely and clean. Daniel is very knowledgeable about dogs as he trains then also so he knows how to care for them properly”

“Just perfect. First time we have left our Wilf with anymore but we were left at ease as soon as we met Joe Kept updating us with how Wilf was doing and he’s been a very happy boy. Thank you Joe. Wilf will be seeing you again soon. 🥰”

“Our Frenchie Daisy had such a lovely time with Anca and her family. She was extremely well looked after and treated as one of their own family. We received updates, picture and videos throughout her stay and can honestly say that we were in no doubt at anytime about how well she was cared for. Thank you so much Anca, Daisy cannot wait to stay again 😁”

“Thanks so much for having Ozzie, he seems to have a great time. Your updates and little videos were really appreciated and reassured us that he was doing ok being the first time st your house. I would definitely recommend you to friends and will look to book again in the future. Thanks x”

“Claudia and the family were outstanding. The space is a dream for any dog. Super safe and brilliant for dogs who love the outdoors. Regular communication and really helped me out with a last minute request. 10/10”

“This was the first time we have left sky with anyone other than family so we were so nervous about how she was going to be but Emily was amazing with her. She updated us throughout the week and let us know how she was getting on and once she had settled, it really put us at ease! We will definitely be using Emily again, thank you🤍”

“Having lost of previous dog sitter when she moved away, we turned to Rover.com and chose Gemma for Clementine to stay with after an initial meet and greet. Gemma has been fantastic, sending photos and video daily and Clementine was clearly very settled staying with Gemma. We will definitely be using Gemma again.”

“Peggy had such a lovely stay! Kate took great care of Peggy and sent updates and pictures of what they'd been up to, out and about and snuggled up at home with her gorgeous dog, Dotty. I felt totally comfortable leaving Peggy with Kate and would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, fun stay for their dog.”

“Bobby was so excited when he realised we were visiting Helena. Another amazing stay for Bobby such a happy puppy when I picked him up. Bobby clearly loves staying with Helena and I always get loads of pupdates with photos of Bobby having loads of fun. He does pine a little when we get home and goes looking for Helena but that’s only because she clearly takes care of him and he loves spending time there. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter.”

“Matilda had a wonderful holiday with Carol. Carol is a lovely lady who loves dogs. She provides them with a caring 'home from home'. Thank you for looking after Matilda. We will definitely be using Carol again.”

“As everyone else’s review said - absolutely delighted with our Luna’s stay with Charlotte. We received pictures and updates daily, which was great as we were missing Luna quite a bit. Highly recommended!”

“Claire was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Extremely organised, great communication and sent photos throughout the trip. It was clear that our pooch was treated just as we would at home and was relaxed and happy upon our return. It was very hot whilst we were away, and Claire also went above and beyond (taking her out early in the morning, using a mist fan, etc) to ensure Poppy was comfortable even in extreme weather. Highly recommend!”

“Jack was fantastic with Freddie. We got regular updates of their time and Fred came back exhausted after a couple of adventures. We’ll definitely be using Jack again and I’m sure Fred will be excited to stay again!”

Mabel has had the BEST time with Emma and family. She has been on lots of adventures and has come home absolutely shattered which anyone with a cockerpoo will know is almost impossible to do as they have so much energy, so thank you for that Emma :) We have been kept up to date with messages and photos which we are so grateful for. We would not want our baby going anywhere else when we are away, I totally trust Emma and her family and know that Mabel will always have the best time whilst with them. See you in a few weeks for the next stay :)

Rita was the perfect sitter for our Ernie. I was very anxious about leaving him with someone outside of the family for the 1st time & Ernie was only a pup. But she kept us up to date with messages & pictures while we were away. Which put my mind at ease. Ernie settled in well & was very happy with Rita.. Will deffinatly be using her again..😀

Could not recommend Caysey more. You can tell she has such a genuine love for dogs and is incredibly caring. She looked after Toffee for one night, and as he has quite bad separation anxiety, I was naturally a little worried. But it was clear how settled and comfortable he was with Caysey from the start. He got plenty of attention, lots of love, and even made a new friend in Pablo! When she dropped him back off, I honestly think he wanted to go home with her instead 🤣. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him. we'll definitely be booking again!

Lily and Joe were amazing with Ember, thank you so much for your care with little Miss Em's. She looked so comfortable with you both and very happy to be with you both very quickly. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon. Thanks again Ember, Linda and family x
Harry and Floz were amazing with Freddie. We’re always a little nervous when leaving Fred as he can get anxious in new places but we were put at ease straight away..they were both externally friendly and embraced Fred for his goofy excitedness. We were sent plenty of updates and photos and Freddie seemed to feel right at home! We’ve already got him rebooked with them both and I’m sure Fred’s looking forward to his next stay.

We are so happy to have found Florence and Harry! Such a kind and caring duo to have placed our two Frenchies in the care of. We were sent wonderful pics of them both thoroughly enjoying their stay and we are so grateful for the love they showed our dogs. We cannot be any happier so we will book again, this time for a home stay to look after all our three dogs and cat. Perfect!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
