Lou was fantastic with Narla. From the first message she was clear, friendly and great at communicating the whole way through. We felt completely at ease knowing Narla was in safe hands. Lou sent regular updates, which was really reassuring, and it was obvious that Narla was happy and well cared for. We could not have asked for a better experience and would happily book with her again.

This was my first time using a dog sitter and i was naturally aprehensive. Angel set me right at ease with an inperson meet and greet and talked me through everything as i did her about my boy Rudy. Super friendly, sent so many photos and he took to her so easily. Ive not seen him loom so relaxed with a stranger. Angel, cant thank you enough and im so pleased to have found someone i can trust to look after my strange little fur creature in future.

Wonderful sitter. Obviously very experienced. Kept to my dogs routine which as a rescue this really helped. She sent us updates at the end of the day which was so reassuring to see and hear about. She is very considerate, offering to pick essentials up so we didn't have to after long journey home. Left the house clean and tidy. Would definitely book her again. Thank you! Mabel's obviously been in good hands and enjoyed your company:)

Samantha was great - she followed Caspian’s routine and kept me updated with loads of photos. He was very happy when I got home and if I’m honest I think he’s been missing her since! Will definitely ask her to look after Caspian again in the future, as he clearly had a great time. Would enthusiastically recommend Samantha to anyone considering a sitter!

About: I’ve had dogs & cats all my life and have been pet sitting for 5+ years. I also have a qualification in dog behaviour and pet first aid, so I’m confident looking after pets with all sorts of personalities and needs. I’m particularly comfortable with anxious or reactive dogs and understand that some dogs need a bit more time and space than others. I’m happy to work around their routine and whatever makes them feel comfortable. I’m also very much a cat person. Sassy and independent? Love them. Friendly and cuddly? Even better. I’m quite happy to let them decide whether I’m worthy of their attention. I have my own Saluki/Greyhound, Genie, who has just made it through the puppy stage, so I’m well acquainted with the chaos that comes with that! I’m happy to send as many updates as you’d like while you’re away, just let me know what you prefer. I can offer day boarding at my home, but not overnight boarding. As Genie lives here, your pet must be comfortable being around other dogs and would have to be a good match. 🐾 My schedule - Day boarding at my home: 8am–5pm (exl Fri) - Pet sitting in your home: Happy to stay during the day/ evenings, but I don’t offer overnight stays. - Fridays: Available after 4pm - Evenings & weekends: Generally available. If not it will be blocked out on my calendar. 🐕 Dogs: I’m happy to adapt to each dog and their personality. Got a hyper dog with loads of energy? Let’s get that energy out with walks, play and plenty of enrichment! For more anxious or easily overwhelmed dogs, I’m happy to take things slowly. We can keep things calm, give them plenty of space and take the time to get to know each other at their own pace. 🐈‍⬛ Cats: Cats have their own ways of doing things, so I’m happy to work around their personality and routine. Whether they want lots of fuss and play or would rather do their own thing, I’ll give them the space they need while making sure they’re fed, comfortable and happy.

Imogen house/pet sat for us for a week while we were away on holiday. She looked after our dog and 2 guinea pigs brilliantly, keeping me in the loop with how they were and sending regular photo updates. She also did a fantastic job of looking after the house and went above and beyond to ensure our early hours return was stressful free. It was wonderful to be away and not worrying about how our fur babies were. I eould highly recommend Imogen and will definitely be requesting her services when we go away in the future.

I can thoroughly recommend Chris as a dog sitter and walker following him sitting at our house looking after our dog and cat. Chris responded promptly when I first contacted him. We were trying to arrange quite short notice dog and cat sitting due to a previous arrangement breaking down. Despite this he was as able to work around our dates to be able to provide the care we needed. Our dog can be anxious and has a tendency to resource guard. Chris was excellent at arranging to visit our house to meet our dog to get an idea of his needs and accompanied mr on a walk with him. He then, also, arranged to take our dog out on his own, for a walk. This provided Chris and us with the confidence to go ahead with the sit. Chris provided daily updates (messages, photos and video) whilst we were away which was great feedback. I know our dog loved the care he received. Chris is engaging, thoughtful and caring of the animals he is looking after. His calm demeanour was great for both our pets and ourselves! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chris as a sitter and to ask him to sit again in future.

About: I’ve grown up with dogs as part of my family and have hands-on experience caring for a wide range of breeds and temperaments. As an adult, I’ve owned Rottweilers, Bedlington Terriers, Cavapoos and Labradors, giving me confidence with dogs of all sizes, energy levels and personalities. I’m experienced in calmly managing everything from reactive dogs to very relaxed, easy-going companions. I’ve completed extensive training for a variety of needs from reactivity to anxiety and basic obedience. Alongside caring for my own dogs, I regularly dog-sit for friends and family and have also supported elderly people in my local area by providing reliable, friendly dog walking services. I treat every animal with patience, respect and genuine affection, always prioritising their safety and wellbeing. 🐾 I work from home on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and I’m available for boarding from Wednesday to Sunday when I’ll be at home all day to give your pets my undivided attention 🤍 I prioritise safety, routine and comfort when caring for pets in my home or a pet owner’s home. I follow each owner’s instructions closely, taking time to understand individual needs, routines and triggers. Environments are kept calm, clean and secure, with careful management of doors, gates and lead protocols. When dogs board with me, they enjoy a securely fenced garden with space to roam, and access to nearby green spaces, fields and woodland for safe, enriching walks. I’m experienced with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including reactive dogs, and use calm, positive handling to help every pet feel settled and secure. I treat every animal as if they were my own and provide regular updates for peace of mind. 🐾

About: Hello, I'm Ashley! I'm a huge dog lover and proud auntie to a gorgeous Cavapoo, so I know just how much our four-legged family members mean to us. Having used boarding services ourselves, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust and who will keep you updated while you're away. After 15 years as a teacher, I recently started my own business working from home. As a DBS-checked professional, I'm organised, reliable and used to caring for others. I bring that same level of responsibility and attention to every dog I look after. Working from home also means I have the flexibility to provide plenty of company, care and attention throughout the day. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, house sitting and boarding. Whether your dog is happiest staying in the comfort of their own home or enjoying a home-from-home stay with me, I'll always take the time to understand their routine, personality and individual needs. I live in a detached house with a secure enclosed garden in a lovely village, surrounded by parks and open fields; perfect for enriching walks and adventures. I'm an active person who enjoys running, football and spending time outdoors, so whether your dog prefers energetic walks or a slower pace, I'll make sure they get the exercise and attention that's right for them. I know every dog is different, which is why I'm always happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand. It's a great opportunity for us to get to know one another, make sure we're the right fit and ensure your dog will feel comfortable and settled in my care. I'll always treat your dog with kindness, patience and respect and you will receive regular photo updates so you can relax knowing they're happy, safe and well looked after. As I work from home, pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I have the flexibility to plan my day around walks, visits and quality time with the dogs in my care, ensuring they receive plenty of attention and aren't left alone for long periods. I love spending time outdoors, whether that's exploring local parks and countryside or simply enjoying a stroll around the village, so walks are something I genuinely look forward to every day. I can also be flexible to accommodate your dog's usual routine wherever possible. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to get to know their personality, routine and any specific needs before caring for them. I'll follow your instructions carefully, whether that's feeding times, walking preferences, medication, favourite toys or bedtime routines, to help your dog feel as settled and comfortable as possible. In my own home, dogs will have access to a secure enclosed garden and plenty of companionship throughout the day, as I work from home. My home is clean, calm and located in a lovely village with easy access to parks and countryside walks. If I'm caring for your dog in your home, I'll treat both your pet and your home with the utmost respect. I'll keep everything clean and tidy, stick to your dog's normal routine as closely as possible, and make sure your pet receives lots of care, attention and regular exercise. Before any booking, I'm always happy to arrange a meet and greet. It's a great way for us to get to know each other, answer any questions and make sure we're all comfortable that it's the right fit for both you and your dog.

Jade stayed in our home with our dog Hank for a week while away on family holiday. Jade was amazing, she looked after Hank and you would have thought he didn’t miss us at all. We came back to a very happy boy like we left. She cleaned up brilliantly in the house, kept good care over the garden and plants and even washed bedding that was used. Highly recommend this professional and very warm individual for home care and any pet care. We will use her again in the future that’s for sure.

About: Building a bond with a canine that is based on mutual trust, and developes organically, is the core of a lasting relationship. Having studied canine care, behaviour and welfare provides me with a better understanding of the dogs I look after. I am currently working with canines full time and have availability throughout the week. Please share your requirements and I will make every effort to accommodate. Every canine I look after, I require a meet and greet so I can understand your needs and your canine companion(s). Knowing their daily routines, dietary and medical requirements ensures they are looked after while in my care. I provide daily reports on their socialisation skills, scenting habits and their toileting breaks. I do like to take photos and share them with the owner giving them the opportunity to create memories of their family pet.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Calderdale on Rover is £32.2 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,759 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Calderdale. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Calderdale walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Calderdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
