Absolutely fantastic! Contacted Helena very last minute after being let down and she was amazing. My mum never gets to leave the house with her needy doggo but he didn’t even miss us one bit. My mum got to spend the day with her grandson who lives in London. Something she rarely gets to do. Brilliant sitter and all the updates put an anxious owner at massive ease. Thank you so much!

Torrie was communicative right from the initial contact and kept me updated with daily messages about our two cats throughout the week we were away. The cats clearly thrived in her company! We came home to a clean, tidy house and, most importantly, two very happy cats. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

Couldn’t fault Ellie at all. I have always been super anxious over leaving my 3 musketeers especially overnight and with the super hyperactive characters. They suffer with anxiety being left overnight and can be extremely boisterous at times. Ellie settled my nerves and anxiety to a tee. Kept me updated throughout her stay with pictures and messages on what they were getting up to. Would highly recommend her to anyone and will definitely rebook with Ellie in the future. She had my dogs best interests at heart and understood my anxieties. 💯

Lou was fantastic with Narla. From the first message she was clear, friendly and great at communicating the whole way through. We felt completely at ease knowing Narla was in safe hands. Lou sent regular updates, which was really reassuring, and it was obvious that Narla was happy and well cared for. We could not have asked for a better experience and would happily book with her again.

About: I have looked after a parents greyhound whilst they're away by walking and feeding him. I enjoy playing with him and giving him stokes and treats. I mostly work from home so can be flexible with times of going and visiting houses and pets. I can be free on weekends too. I mostly wouldn't be able to go Friday during the day as I work from the office l but I am free friday after 5pm. I can offer a calm space for a pet to feel at ease with a stranger. I enjoy them sitting with me on the sofa or in bed for some extra cuddle time.

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and genuinely love caring for them. I grew up with both dogs and cats in the family, so I’m very comfortable with different personalities, from playful pups to independent or shy cats. I also studied animal care and husbandry at college, which gave me a great understanding of pet behaviour, safety, and wellbeing. I currently have two cats of my own, so I know how important it is to have someone trustworthy and caring looking after your pets. Whether it’s feeding, playtime, or just keeping them company, I treat every pet like they’re my own ❤️ I'm a nurse at the local hospital so I usually have 3 or 4 days off a week, so plenty of time for feeding, playing, fighting, and cuddling the cats! And cleaning the litter tray ofc. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I only provide services in the owner’s home, helping your cat stay comfortable in a familiar environment. I’m reliable, tidy, and treat both your pet and home with the utmost respect, keeping you updated throughout.

Ruby looked after my 2 staffies Ruby & Frank for the weekend. My dogs can be a handful at times, especially when playing together as one is getting older whilst the other still a puppy. Ruby met both my dogs prior to the house sitting weekend in my home. Both dogs took to her immediately and I loved the fact she instantly interacted with them. Frank the younger of my dogs especially took to her and didn't want her to leave. Ruby sent regular updates on how they were doing as they can fret a little and get anxiety when I'm not home, but they were perfectly fine and looked happy. It was lovely to see how Ruby is with dogs and you clearly see that she adores them. I will definitely be booking in the future with her.

I can thoroughly recommend Chris as a dog sitter and walker following him sitting at our house looking after our dog and cat. Chris responded promptly when I first contacted him. We were trying to arrange quite short notice dog and cat sitting due to a previous arrangement breaking down. Despite this he was as able to work around our dates to be able to provide the care we needed. Our dog can be anxious and has a tendency to resource guard. Chris was excellent at arranging to visit our house to meet our dog to get an idea of his needs and accompanied mr on a walk with him. He then, also, arranged to take our dog out on his own, for a walk. This provided Chris and us with the confidence to go ahead with the sit. Chris provided daily updates (messages, photos and video) whilst we were away which was great feedback. I know our dog loved the care he received. Chris is engaging, thoughtful and caring of the animals he is looking after. His calm demeanour was great for both our pets and ourselves! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chris as a sitter and to ask him to sit again in future.

About: I have started a business dog walking and pet sitting. Dogs are the best friends you could have! I have experience looking after dogs big and small and know how to cuddle on the sofa as well as run around the fields with high prey driven dogs. I have my own business pet sitting and dog walking, I will soon be starting a dog grooming course which will be one evening a week so I am very flexible with my availability. At home we have 2 cats, one is 8 and the other is 2. They both have different interests and needs and I know how to deal with them. I know how to adapt my routine to different animals having my own cats and looking after dogs during sits and walks.

About: I've spent over a decade caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments — not just as a sitter, but as a true companion. From high-energy puppies to senior dogs with special needs, I understand their unique care requirements. You'll never wonder how your dog is doing. I provide regular photo updates, check-ins, and stay in close touch so you're always in the loop. Pet care is a meaningful and regular part of my weekly routine. I dedicate time each day for walks, feedings, litter box cleaning, and quality time with the animals I care for. I carefully plan my schedule to ensure I’m fully available for each pet — whether for daily check-ins, overnight stays, or weekend visits. Even with other responsibilities, pet care remains a top priority. When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on maintaining their routine as closely as possible to minimize stress. I follow detailed instructions regarding feeding, medications, walk schedules, and any special quirks or preferences. I respect the pet owner’s home, clean up after the pet (litter box, food area, accidents if any), and provide updates with photos or videos. My goal is for the pet to feel safe and relaxed in their own familiar space — and for you to feel confident while you're away.

Jodie sent us plenty of updates and photos which gave us peace of mind whilst we were away which meant we could fully enjoy our trip. About: From the age of around 11 I’ve looked after dogs and cats as well as Ferrets. I’ve also been around dogs my whole life and love to spend time getting to know new furry friends. I have a Mini Dachshund girl Penny and a Boy cat Stanley. Whilst both being very friendly and loving in harmony penny only really appreciates other dogs her size so we only take in small dogs for overnight stays/doggy day care with us. Walks - As for walks I am open to any dogs for this and I have a car for travel to appropriate walk destinations. Home Visits - I am able to visit any size or age pets within a 10 mile radius. The amount of times I visit and the length of visit will have to be negotiated upon booking. I am a very flexible person I do not have a 9-5 job I work for myself at home. My days consist of walking my own dog and having a lot of time in the garden playing with Penny. I have a fenced off garden that is located just off the back of a big field so it’s perfect for dog walks. I have one girl dog and one boy cat but as cats do he stays out of the way and is very dog friendly due to his sister being a dog. I am only able to accept crate trained pets for overnight services and a crate must accompany your pet on arrival as I do not have a spare unfortunately. I would appreciate a list if I was looking after your pet in your home so I can do exactly as you do.

About: I was brought up with dogs, numerous exotic pets and horses so I have a deep understanding of the level of commitment and care our pets need. My first pet was an English Bull Terrier called Levi who I was raised with form the ago of 2. I went from dressing him up and painting his nails to walking him in the fields everyday, he was truly my best friend. As he started to age and I was entering my teen years, we rescued Diesel, a staffy x pitbull, from an abusive home and made our home his forever home. My Dad taught me the fundamentals of training a pup, everything from pad training to recall. There was 4 of us in the house but the dogs were definitely mine and my Dad's. I think no matter what age a dog is, patience is key but everything comes from your tone and body language. (And of course, lots of cuddles!) I am also first aid trained in animal care which came from working alongside my Mum in an animal care centre college. I currently work Monday-friday 8am-4pm all around Huddersfield cleaning windows so I will be available evenings/nights(including house sitting)/weekends. I own and drive a vehicle so travel isn't an issue. I unfortunately can't bring your pet home with me because we have a cat and a big rescue romanian sheep dog but if needed, I own a 2 seater mini van so your pet has the choice of being passenger princess in the front with me or they can have the back to themselves in a crate. I'm a very open and honest person so your home will be safe in my hands if boarding. Im happy to provide references if you wish.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter than Laura. She looked after everything perfectly for the 10 days we were away on our honeymoon, and we had complete peace of mind knowing our home and pets were in such safe, caring hands. Laura was reliable, responsible, kind, and incredibly thoughtful — she kept us updated, followed all instructions, and went above and beyond what we expected. We came home to happy pets and a beautifully cared-for home, which made the end of our honeymoon even more special. Thank you so much, Laura!

FAQs for House Sitting - Kirklees

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kirklees on Rover is £39.1 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 2,630 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kirklees. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Kirklees walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kirklees choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
