“Jade stayed in our home with our dog Hank for a week while away on family holiday. Jade was amazing, she looked after Hank and you would have thought he didn’t miss us at all. We came back to a very happy boy like we left. She cleaned up brilliantly in the house, kept good care over the garden and plants and even washed bedding that was used. Highly recommend this professional and very warm individual for home care and any pet care. We will use her again in the future that’s for sure.”

“Totally trusted Torrie with my dog, she was really quick to respond to messages and meet and greet, she took care of him amazingly and sent updates. I was really grateful to leave my dog with someone so genuine and would highly recommend. My dog looked really happy and comfortable when I got home and it’s obvious that Torrie cares about animals deeply.”
“Irena sent us lots of photos while we were away and we could see that Gus was a happy dog! Thank you for looking after Gus. Everything looked well looked after on our return.”

“Absolutely fantastic! Contacted Helena very last minute after being let down and she was amazing. My mum never gets to leave the house with her needy doggo but he didn’t even miss us one bit. My mum got to spend the day with her grandson who lives in London. Something she rarely gets to do. Brilliant sitter and all the updates put an anxious owner at massive ease. Thank you so much!”

“Laura was great, prompt and kept us updated throughout the day with pictures. Both Tank and Russ were happy and comfortable with her. Will definitely ask her to dog sit again”

I am able to bring my dog too - if your pet wants a friend, or I can do solo visits and walks. I know how much these are helpful if your dog is anxious.
“Lou was fantastic with Narla. From the first message she was clear, friendly and great at communicating the whole way through. We felt completely at ease knowing Narla was in safe hands. Lou sent regular updates, which was really reassuring, and it was obvious that Narla was happy and well cared for. We could not have asked for a better experience and would happily book with her again.”

About: I’ve taken care for pets for over 4 years now. This first began working in our family run pet shop and later developed in to me starting my own boarding service. I have grown up around animals all my life and have always loved spending time are them and caring for them. I am a boarder full time so as long as I have availability when you want to book in, I am available daily and at all hours. I ensure that I spend a great deal of time with your pets when staying with them in your homes, making sure they are comfortable and have the company they need.
About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and genuinely love caring for them. I grew up with both dogs and cats in the family, so I’m very comfortable with different personalities, from playful pups to independent or shy cats. I also studied animal care and husbandry at college, which gave me a great understanding of pet behaviour, safety, and wellbeing. I currently have two cats of my own, so I know how important it is to have someone trustworthy and caring looking after your pets. Whether it’s feeding, playtime, or just keeping them company, I treat every pet like they’re my own ❤️ I'm a nurse at the local hospital so I usually have 3 or 4 days off a week, so plenty of time for feeding, playing, cuddling and taking care of the cats. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I only provide services in the owner’s home, helping your cat stay comfortable in a familiar environment. I’m reliable, tidy, and treat both your pet and home with the utmost respect, keeping you updated throughout.

About: I've had cats since the age of 3, and never stopped having them. Alongside many other pets of all shapes and sizes. I started helping out a friend with her dog sitting jobs and it's continued from there. I've dog sat and walked , cat sat and checked up on friends and clients pets. One off walks and regular walks. From small senior Jack Russell to two bounding golden retrievers. I've had a good few years of experience now to offer more services . I'm currently working part time so I have the time to schedule in walks, house sitting/pet sitting and call ins. I have one ongoing walk with a Jack Russell and would like to take on more pet care work. Depending on what the owner wants , whether it's a routine walk, a pop in or a stay over. I'm happy to do it all. Happy to follow instructions to make sure your babies are happy and calm. My cat is an outdoor cat but understand some prefer theirs to stay in. With dogs I can make sure they are well seen to and will make sure I know how long they don't mind being left alone. Can pop in to fill up water and food bowls or to let any out to use to toilet.
About: Building a bond with a canine that is based on mutual trust, and developes organically, is the core of a lasting relationship. Having studied canine care, behaviour and welfare provides me with a better understanding of the dogs I look after. I am currently working with canines full time and have availability throughout the week. Please share your requirements and I will make every effort to accommodate. Every canine I look after, I require a meet and greet so I can understand your needs and your canine companion(s). Knowing their daily routines, dietary and medical requirements ensures they are looked after while in my care. I provide daily reports on their socialisation skills, scenting habits and their toileting breaks. I do like to take photos and share them with the owner giving them the opportunity to create memories of their family pet.

About: I've spent over a decade caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments — not just as a sitter, but as a true companion. From high-energy puppies to senior dogs with special needs, I understand their unique care requirements. You'll never wonder how your dog is doing. I provide regular photo updates, check-ins, and stay in close touch so you're always in the loop. Pet care is a meaningful and regular part of my weekly routine. I dedicate time each day for walks, feedings, litter box cleaning, and quality time with the animals I care for. I carefully plan my schedule to ensure I’m fully available for each pet — whether for daily check-ins, overnight stays, or weekend visits. Even with other responsibilities, pet care remains a top priority. When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on maintaining their routine as closely as possible to minimize stress. I follow detailed instructions regarding feeding, medications, walk schedules, and any special quirks or preferences. I respect the pet owner’s home, clean up after the pet (litter box, food area, accidents if any), and provide updates with photos or videos. My goal is for the pet to feel safe and relaxed in their own familiar space — and for you to feel confident while you're away.

Having used boarding services ourselves, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust and who will keep you updated while you're away. After 15 years as a teacher, I recently started my own business working from home. As a DBS-checked professional, I'm organised, reliable and used to caring for others. I'm an active person who enjoys running, football and spending time outdoors, so whether your dog prefers energetic walks or a slower pace, I'll make sure they get the exercise and attention that's right for them. I know every dog is different, which is why I'm always happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand. It's a great opportunity for us to get to know one another, make sure we're the right fit and ensure your dog will feel comfortable and settled in my care. I'll always treat your dog with kindness, patience and respect and you will receive regular photo updates so you can relax knowing they're happy, safe and well looked after. As I work from home, pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I have the flexibility to plan my day around walks, visits and quality time with the dogs in my care, ensuring they receive plenty of attention and aren't left alone for long periods. I love spending time outdoors, whether that's exploring local parks and countryside or simply enjoying a stroll around the village, so walks are something I genuinely look forward to every day. I can also be flexible to accommodate your dog's usual routine wherever possible. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to get to know their personality, routine and any specific needs before caring for them. I'll follow your instructions carefully, whether that's feeding times, walking preferences, medication, favourite toys or bedtime routines, to help your dog feel as settled and comfortable as possible. In my own home, dogs will have access to a secure enclosed garden and plenty of companionship throughout the day, as I work from home. My home is clean, calm and located in a lovely village with easy access to parks and countryside walks. Before any booking, I'm always happy to arrange a meet and greet. It's a great way for us to get to know each other, answer any questions and make sure we're all comfortable that it's the right fit for both you and your dog.
“Couldn’t fault Ellie at all. I have always been super anxious over leaving my 3 musketeers especially overnight and with the super hyperactive characters. They suffer with anxiety being left overnight and can be extremely boisterous at times. Ellie settled my nerves and anxiety to a tee. Kept me updated throughout her stay with pictures and messages on what they were getting up to. Would highly recommend her to anyone and will definitely rebook with Ellie in the future. She had my dogs best interests at heart and understood my anxieties. 💯”

About: I’ve cared for a wide range of domestic and wild animals as I have work experience in a zoo. This gave me specialised experience understanding different dietary requirements as I would be in charge of preparing feeds for many different species. I also learnt how to administer medication with the assistance from the head zookeeper, so if any pets need medicine I have done that before. I’m currently unemployed so I’m very available to walk dogs, sit for your animal if they prefer company when you’re away or at work. This means I can give a lot of my energy and attention and won’t have any distractions to pull me away or leave you hanging. I’m a very attentive pet carer, if you have any specifications of how your pet likes to be cared for I’m a great listener and learn quickly. I’m very active too so if your pet needs a lot of exercise that’s not a problem for me.
“Chris cared for our dog (who is very anxious) and our cat for 2 days and overnight last weekend. Similarly to our first booking (last June for 5 nights) Chris was prompt and professional in his communication with us setting up the booking and in the lead up to the stay. Chris was calm and thoughtful in his approach to caring for our pets and discussed their neds prior to the stay. We have an anxious dog who, will resource guard, and has bitten members of our family before, in certain situations. This needs to be handled carefully by anyone providing care, and Chris was able to take on this information and look after our dog. Unfortunately, there was an incident where out dog did bite Chris on the hand. Chris alerted us to this and provided information and reassurance about this whilst we were away. He adjusted his approach (to prevent a re-occurrence) continuing to provide everything our dog needed despite the incident. We were very thankful for this, and it is a demonstration of Chris’ commitment to the animals he cares for that he continued to do this. I would definitely recommend Chris as an excellent sitter, or walker, for any pets. Thanks again for all you help.”

Paige was absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend her high enough. I genuinely believe my dogs were furious it was me when I walked back in through the door and not Paige! They had a wonderful time and now I am going to have to make more arrangements to go out so they can see her again! Book with confidence you will not be disappointed

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter than Laura. She looked after everything perfectly for the 10 days we were away on our honeymoon, and we had complete peace of mind knowing our home and pets were in such safe, caring hands. Laura was reliable, responsible, kind, and incredibly thoughtful — she kept us updated, followed all instructions, and went above and beyond what we expected. We came home to happy pets and a beautifully cared-for home, which made the end of our honeymoon even more special. Thank you so much, Laura!

Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kirklees choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
