“Really great service from Nova! Unfortunately our dog Oscar was poorly for a few weeks before our holiday but Nova was happy to help keep an eye on him and make sure he was ok while we were away. We'd chosen a pet sitter because our other dog Amber is a recent rescue and we thought moving her to a different house might be tricky but she warmed up to Nova really quickly. We booked Nova again while we were still away!”

“If you are looking for someone to care for your dog, my advice would be to choose Ivans. My Boston Terrier doesn’t usually warm to people, is prone to chaos, and can be reactive. He is a complete gremlin, and I normally have to give people a full disclaimer before they meet him. Ivans came to watch Jerry for the day. Yet, he also ended up training him through play, patience, and a real understanding of how Jerry thinks. It was amazing to see him work through Jerry’s difficult behaviours without making it feel like formal training, and it won Jerry over quickly. His care for dogs is really visible, and it’s clear that he wants to set them up for success. My gremlin loved him right away, and the photo updates made me feel like I was in safe hands! I will definitely be working with him again for Jerry’s walking, his reactivity, and his general gremlin nature!”

“This was the second time Frances looked after our dog Duke. Frances is friendly, professional, great with Duke and looked after our house 😊 we have already booked them again!”

About: I have recently relocated back home to be closer to my family after living down in London for over a decade. I ran a successful dog walking business for 8 years in London caring for dogs and walking them on Hampstead Heath. It fits in perfectly. I intend to solely focus on caring for dogs therefore my time is theirs. I enjoy walks in parks, woodlands and forests so I love getting my walking boots on. I treat and love all dogs in my care as I would my own dogs. I want dogs to feel this is a home from home and there is such a great feeling when the dogs I care for are so happy to see me with their wagging tails.
“Abbie came to our home and looked after our two, very energetic cockapoos for 3 nights. Abbie sent regular pictures and updates, spent lots of time walking, playing and cuddling our girls while also taking great care of our home. Would 100% recommended Abbie and absolutely would book her again!”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Wakefield
We have 2 very elderly dogs, who don’t need exercising, but are hard work to look after, and need special care in their own way, as one of our dogs is blind and deaf, with dementia, and the other dog is heading the same way. Through Nova’s love, care and attention, we have 100% peace of mind that the boys are OK while we are on holiday. We have used Nova quite a few times over the years, and I cannot praise or recommend Nova highly enough, like I said in my first review about Nova, our world would be a lot nicer if there were more people like Nova in it.

Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wakefield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
