“Nova came and looked after our dog Maya for the night when we were away. Nova was great, Maya can be nervous with new people but settled super quickly which is always a good sign! We got lots of lovely updates and pics and would definitely book Nova again if we went away! Thanks again x”

“Penny. You are an absolute star, when you came to meet roxy, we knew she'd love being around you, you made us feel so at ease. Knowing roxy was in safe hands. We will definitely require your services in future. Thankyou for helping us out and being there. From the photos we recieved, we knew we've found our carer for our dog . Thankyou penny, you are an absolute star. 🙂🙂 And thankyou penny. Love from Roxy 🥰”

“John did a wonderful job looking our two border terriers, including one grumpy senior. He kept us informed about their well being with regular pictures and this made our trip more relaxing as we weren’t worrying about the dogs. We came home to a tidy house and happy dogs. I think they had a wonderful time with John and were actually a little disappointed we were home 🤣. I would use John again without hesitation.”

About: Hi, I’m Christel, your local cat sitter! I’m a lifelong cat lover and experienced with caring for cats of all ages and personalities. Whether your cat is shy, playful, or a bit of both, I’m here to ensure they feel safe, loved, and entertained while you’re away. I can help with feeding, cleaning litter boxes, administering medications (if needed), and, of course, plenty of cuddles or playtime (depending on your cat’s preferences). I understand how important your furry friend is to you, and I treat every cat as if they were my own. Feel free to get in touch to discuss your cat’s needs—I’d love to hear all about them!

About: I've taken care of a variety of dogs since I was younger such as labradors, cockapoos and staffies. They have ranged from puppies to more senior dogs. I have watched them overnight, to pop in visits and walking up to 4 at a time. I am a part-time worker with a schedule that works around me and my other commitments so therefore I am available at your convenience. I am skilled in how to keep pets happy and will give them 100% of my time and effort with no distractions. I will make sure I am aware of how to gain your pets trust and its likes/dislikes.

About: Hello! I’m a big cat lover with two furry little ones of my own – one’s a cheeky explorer and the other’s a quiet cuddlebug. I’ve looked after them since they were tiny kittens, so I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience with everything from bottle-feeding to adult care. Over the years, I’ve dealt with giving meds, clearing up after fleas, and all the fun (and messy!) stuff in between. I know how different each cat can be, and I always take the time to understand their personality and needs. Caring for cats isn’t just something I do it’s something I love.
“Frances was fantastic! Our dog is almost 14 and a bit grumpy. We needed a dog sitter day and night, first time we have left him with anyone. Frances looked after him so well. I could relax as I got updates from Frances throughout. I will definitely recommend you to all my friends. Thank you so much. xxx”

“If you are looking for someone to care for your dog, my advice would be to choose Ivans. My Boston Terrier doesn’t usually warm to people, is prone to chaos, and can be reactive. He is a complete gremlin, and I normally have to give people a full disclaimer before they meet him. Ivans came to watch Jerry for the day. Yet, he also ended up training him through play, patience, and a real understanding of how Jerry thinks. It was amazing to see him work through Jerry’s difficult behaviours without making it feel like formal training, and it won Jerry over quickly. His care for dogs is really visible, and it’s clear that he wants to set them up for success. My gremlin loved him right away, and the photo updates made me feel like I was in safe hands! I will definitely be working with him again for Jerry’s walking, his reactivity, and his general gremlin nature!”

“Luke was really good with our dogs, and we knew he had the seal of approval when the more nervous one was so comfortable around him! He was really friendly and professional, and we'd have no hesitation in recommending Luke or using him again!”

“Lois is lovely, came for a meet and greet before watching her and looked after my dog for 8-9 hours while we went out for the day. She kept me updated with pictures. I will be using her again 😊 Thanks Lois”

About: I have had the privilege of caring for both dogs and cats for the past 23 years, and over that time, I have gained a deep understanding of their unique needs and personalities. From feeding and grooming to training and health monitoring, I’ve experienced the joy and challenges of looking after these beloved animals. I’ve learned the importance of building trust with each pet, recognizing the subtle signs of their emotions, and ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. Whether it's taking dogs on long walks, playing with cats to keep them mentally stimulated, or managing their diets and vet visits, my years of experience have equipped me with a solid foundation in providing the best care possible. Each pet has its own quirks, and I take pride in adapting my approach to suit their individual needs. I currently work full-time Monday to Friday, but I am available to care for your pets before 8:30 AM and after 5:00 PM. Depending on the day, I can also assist during lunchtime if needed. When caring for pets in their owners' homes, I prioritize creating a familiar and comfortable environment for the animals while ensuring their routines remain as consistent as possible. I follow the owners' instructions closely, from feeding schedules to medication routines, and make sure to provide plenty of affection, playtime, and exercise to keep them happy and engaged. I maintain a clean and safe space for them, paying attention to their emotional needs by offering companionship and minimizing stress during their owners' absence. Whether it's a daily walk, play sessions, or simply offering a quiet space for rest, I ensure that each pet feels secure and well-cared for, just as they would in the presence of their owners. My goal is to provide peace of mind to the pet owners, knowing their pets are in good hands and receiving the love and attention they deserve.

About: Hi, I'm Darcey - a foundation doctor living in Wakefield. I often team up with my partner, Luca, who's a trainee accountant, for visits. We've both grown up with pets, some with additional health needs, and love any chance to meet a new furry friend!

“Kimberley is absolutely lovely! She looked over our cocker spaniel Ava at our house and did a wonderful job. She sent regular updates, took Ava on a walk, have her enrichment toys and plenty of play and cuddles! Ava was very settled when we got home which shows she was happy in Kimberley’s company. We will definitely be asking Kimberley for her help again in the future when we need it ☺️”

“We booked Rach last minute due to work schedules needing us in the offices. Cannot thank Rach enough for looking after our dog, our puppy was tired after lots of play - would 100% book Rach again without a doubt!!”

About: I have plenty of experience with different animals grooming, meditation dispensing, general day to day walking and entertaining playing around with pets. I would be happy to continue any basic training you have started or would like me to start. I can do some extra activities while looking after your pet, like washing up mess made by your pet, put rubbish bins out and bring back in. Bring letters in if you are way on holidays etc. I have looked after pets both energetic who love walks and playing around and also pets that just love a cuddle and to chill. I work in the healthcare sector so I do have an online DBS if you would like any background checks information. I am flexible as I work in the community so have plenty of spare time to both be at home and also to do house calls. I have a large house and garden which is fenced and safe also I live in a semi rural area so plenty of walks to go on. I am a flexible worker with lots of spare time and would love the opportunity to look after your pets. I am available mostly at any time as my work is flexible. I would look after them as my own and follow any instructions given from owner of the pet I am looking after. I have a secure and fenced property and big house for the animal to explore if they come to my house.
“Carol and Simon were amazing with our dog, she had a lovely time with them. She was very looked after, lots of walks and care. Couldn’t have asked for better.”

About: £30 first booking with code KELLYT04221 I have a Labrador who I have trained and loved for 7 years. Dog and cat sit for my whole family. Want to give something back to those that need help. I understand how hard it is to find reliable sitters, day care, walkers or just someone to let them out during the day. I am a registered nurse who works shifts so I have different days off a week so I can be flexible to offer service. I don’t work weekends I have a secure garden with a very well behaved Labrador who has been exposed to many different breeds at daycare herself so I can offer a safe loving environment.

About: Hi! I am just starting on this site formally so building my new profile but I have had dogs for over 30 years and have the most loving Staffy (Sapphy). I have many years of experience pet sitting for all kind of dogs, big and small, cute and cuddly, energetic non stop attention seekers and chilled sofa, grumpy won’t go out if it’s raining ones and I’ll only come near you if you have food ones and the very anxious ones that take a lot of time and patience to build their trust in you then become your shadow ones. I’ve looked after puppy’s in the process of potty & crate training and older dogs providing medicine and special care. I look after pets in their home so they get to stay in their own environment and keep their routine - including overnight stays if needed. I can provide all day or multiple visit approaches including a late visit and early morning visit if not staying the night. I’ve taken dogs for long long walks, ran around with frisbees and balls, taken them to hydrotherapy sessions or just for pool fun and shenanigans and spent all day cuddling the ones that just don’t want to do anything other than chill and sleep. I look after your house, moving mail away from the front door and leaving it clean and secure for you coming home. I work part time for a bank (8 years) from home so can care most days working out of your house or visiting regularly. Above all of the pet related care I provide, I can provide peace of mind that your home is safe and secure and 100% trust - which is why I provide an enhanced DBS check, you can visit me at my home so you can get a feel for me and build trust (I don’t board here), you can see any ID and I am always accessible for a FaceTime or call when I am caring for your pet with twice daily photos and updates. I currently work part time at home with 1 day in the office all day but don’t work at all Thursday to Sunday so specialise in AM and PM drop in visits for unlimited holiday cover and long weekend care day and night care. However I do offer longer term all day and night sitting but would need access to unlimited secure broadband and work from your home during my working days. I drive so can do multiple visits based on what you need and my flexible working hours. I only care for pets in your home currently as my dog isn’t fond of anything furry! I can provide half hour visits once a day to full day and night care or multiple visit care where I would not leave them for more than a few hours in the day, making at least one visit mid day, one early morning visit and one evening visit to settle them down for the night. I work with you to deliver the best approach as you know what your cat or dog needs best! I am happy to look after the household pets such as caged rodents, birds and fish but no reptiles and definately no snakes!! It only ever me that would be in your home, no kids, no pets just me and your pets, safe and secure following your every instruction. I water your indoor plants, collect your mail, open and close curtains, take your wheelie bin out and give your downstairs floors a little hoover and mop on my last visit.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Wakefield
We have 2 very elderly dogs, who don’t need exercising, but are hard work to look after, and need special care in their own way, as one of our dogs is blind and deaf, with dementia, and the other dog is heading the same way. Through Nova’s love, care and attention, we have 100% peace of mind that the boys are OK while we are on holiday. We have used Nova quite a few times over the years, and I cannot praise or recommend Nova highly enough, like I said in my first review about Nova, our world would be a lot nicer if there were more people like Nova in it.

Nova stayed with Duke overnight for the third New Year's Eve, and supported him with his Firework anxiety really well, administering medication and using their expertise to keep him calm. We really appreciate Nova's regular updates and messages through the evening and morning. Thanks once again Nova! 🙂

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wakefield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
