Really great service from Nova! Unfortunately our dog Oscar was poorly for a few weeks before our holiday but Nova was happy to help keep an eye on him and make sure he was ok while we were away. We'd chosen a pet sitter because our other dog Amber is a recent rescue and we thought moving her to a different house might be tricky but she warmed up to Nova really quickly. We booked Nova again while we were still away!

If you are looking for someone to care for your dog, my advice would be to choose Ivans. My Boston Terrier doesn’t usually warm to people, is prone to chaos, and can be reactive. He is a complete gremlin, and I normally have to give people a full disclaimer before they meet him. Ivans came to watch Jerry for the day. Yet, he also ended up training him through play, patience, and a real understanding of how Jerry thinks. It was amazing to see him work through Jerry’s difficult behaviours without making it feel like formal training, and it won Jerry over quickly. His care for dogs is really visible, and it’s clear that he wants to set them up for success. My gremlin loved him right away, and the photo updates made me feel like I was in safe hands! I will definitely be working with him again for Jerry’s walking, his reactivity, and his general gremlin nature!

About: I have recently relocated back home to be closer to my family after living down in London for over a decade. I ran a successful dog walking business for 8 years in London caring for dogs and walking them on Hampstead Heath. It fits in perfectly. I intend to solely focus on caring for dogs therefore my time is theirs. I enjoy walks in parks, woodlands and forests so I love getting my walking boots on. I treat and love all dogs in my care as I would my own dogs. I want dogs to feel this is a home from home and there is such a great feeling when the dogs I care for are so happy to see me with their wagging tails.

About: Dogs have been a big part of my life for many years, and I have had four dogs of my own as an adult. This has given me lots of practical, hands-on experience and made me very comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, routines and needs. I have also looked after friends’ and family members’ dogs in my home, so I understand how important it is to create a calm, safe and caring environment where dogs can feel settled and relaxed. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone else, and I would always treat your dog with the same kindness, patience and attention I would want for my own. I am reliable, attentive and genuinely enjoy being around dogs, and I would always aim to make sure your pet feels happy, comfortable and well cared for. I have a flexible routine, so I can make sure pets get the time, care and attention they need. I am happy to work around walks, feeding times and your pet’s usual habits to help them feel comfortable and settled. I have a fenced garden and a friendly pug-cross to keep your pets company. There are also three teenagers at home so the will never be lonely and have lots of attention.

About: Hello 👋 My name is Artur and I provide reliable, professional, and fully insured pet care. I am CPD-trained and certified in Canine First Aid, Dog Behaviour & Body Language, and Dog Walking Safety. I focus on safe handling, understanding canine behaviour, and providing calm, attentive care tailored to each dog. I have over two years of experience on Rover and many years of hands-on experience with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities. Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness always come first. I mainly offer boarding and doggy day care, as these allow me to provide the best level of care. For nearby locations, I can also offer dog walks and drop-in visits, depending on availability. My flat is located on the second floor, with only a few steeper steps, which I always take into account when caring for dogs. For senior dogs or dogs with mobility issues, I have a secure pet carrier that works as a little “lift” 🙂, ensuring safe and comfortable access. There are no other animals in the flat, and the environment is quiet, calm, and low-stress, ideal for dogs that value peace and routine. I am CPD-trained, with certifications in Canine First Aid, Dog Behaviour & Body Language, and Dog Walking Safety, and I always prioritise safety, careful handling, and your dog’s well-being.

We have 2 very elderly dogs, who don’t need exercising, but are hard work to look after, and need special care in their own way, as one of our dogs is blind and deaf, with dementia, and the other dog is heading the same way. Through Nova’s love, care and attention, we have 100% peace of mind that the boys are OK while we are on holiday. We have used Nova quite a few times over the years, and I cannot praise or recommend Nova highly enough, like I said in my first review about Nova, our world would be a lot nicer if there were more people like Nova in it.

The average cost for House Sitting in Wakefield on Rover is £32.2 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,565 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wakefield. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Wakefield walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wakefield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
