“I would highly recommend Amy as a house sitter. She was fantastic for a week with our adolescent GSD mix (looks like a labradoodle!) she was great keeping us updated, kept him well walked and played with, even in extreme heat, and treated our home with respect, it was left impeccably! Amy met with our dog before the sitting and kept us updated throughout the week. I would highly recommend her and we will definitely be using Amy again. Thanks so much Amy.”

“Ellen was absolutely fantastic looking after my elderly dog for four nights while I was away. Because he has a few additional needs, I was naturally a little anxious about leaving him with someone new, but Ellen completely put my mind at ease. She followed all of my instructions carefully, provided regular updates on how he was doing, and it was clear he was being very well cared for. I loved hearing about what they were up to, and she took him on some lovely walks too. Knowing he was safe, happy, and in such capable hands made all the difference. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ellen’s services again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter.”

“It was amazing to go on holiday and know we were leaving our reactive dog in safe hands at home in the place she feels most comfortable. Shannon gave brilliant and reassuring daily updates, and looked after Poppy so well. Highly recommend!”

“Grave arrived with plenty of time for me to explain how to look after Nelly. She sent us updates throughout the day and we came home to a happy dog who had been well looked after. Would definitely book again.”

“Laura was a fantastic dog sitter! She stayed at our home for three nights, took our dog on lovely walks, and left everything clean and tidy. We would happily recommend her.”

“Nikeisha took great care of Lola and Maki while we were away. She sent us daily updates, and it was clear from the photos and messages that they were having a great time. She also left the house very tidy. We would be more than happy to have Nikeisha look after Lola and Maki again in the future!”

“Sophie was great, did what she said she would, and sent us lots of photos and videos of our cat playing and eating and drinking to set our mind at rest. He seems his normal self now we are home again which is a massive relief for a cat with abandonment anxiety, we were worried he would be anxious - thank you Sophie!”

About: I have experince looking after both cats and dogs, and have loved meeting animals of all age and breed. I also have always loved both dogs and cats, and would love to look after yours. I am a university student, so other than a few classes a week, I have a very flexible schedule as most of my work is independent study. I will care for your pets with genuine love and attention no matter the breed. I will maintain responsibility at all times, as well as ensuring your house is kept in a perfect state of cleanliness.
About: I’ve had dogs all my life and I have been a volunteer at Cinnamon Trust for many years now. I walk Benji every Sunday, and have done for 18 months. I’m currently working full-time shift work. So often I will have weekday availability depending on what my shifts are. I drive so will be able to take your little fur baby further a field if needed. I will ensure the dog always has access to water. I will provide them with an opportunity to give their legs a good stretch, play ball or tug of war - whatever their favourite game may be. When I’m looking after anyone’s animal, I like to give them my full un-divided attention to ensure they enjoy my company just as much as I enjoy theirs.
“Grace took excellent care of our cats and our home while we were away, and also sent a bunch of very cute videos and photos so we knew our fluff balls were safe and happy. If you have Grace overnight, she is tidy and respectful of belongings and space. Highly recommend her for your cat sitting needs. ”

“Hattie was super considerate and responsive, and most importantly, I came home to a very content and stress-free little doggy! I recommend her and have booked her in for more sitting in the future.”

“Thank you Tasha and Huw! We got in touch at really short notice for doggie daycare to look after our two spaniels and they were brilliant, we got loads of photos and really detailed messages of how the visit was going :) Our dogs are knackered now, thanks again for looking after them today!”

About: Grew up on a farm, had multiple dogs from a young age; patterdale terriers and a German Wirehaired Pointer. Ever since, I've always loved playing and taking care of my friends' and family's dogs. My favourite was the runt of the litter of one of my mum's dogs who I persuaded my mum to keep, and she turned into a lovely ball of fluffy fun who was always by my side! I am currently very free and available so I can accommodate any time you require, especially weekdays. I do have less flexibility over the weekend. I'm very safety conscious, taking your needs and requirements into consideration. I do live in a 4th floor flat with no lift with pet owners on each floor so I will ensure your dog is on a lead and under control whilst going up and down the stairs.
About: I’ve been so lucky to always have beautiful dogs and cats in my life and I’ve always cared deeply for all animals! I will genuinely be so pleased to spend time with your pets and will give them all the love and attention they deserve. The worst part of going on holiday is leaving your fluffy friends so make sure you can relax in peace knowing that they’re being taken care of with lots of heart. I can send as many or as few updates as you like and can help ease any holiday worries about your pet. 😻🥰🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ I am a primary school teacher who is completely work free until September so I have bags of time to spend taking care of your pet whilst you’re enjoying your summer fun! Safely looking after animals is super important and I am always extremely careful and cautious when taking care of my pets and I am no different with other animals. A safe pet is the happiest pet! This including making sure indoor animals stay indoors where they belong, making sure to check they have food and fresh water available at all times and doubling checking before leaving your property. As a school teacher, it’s important that I am trustworthy and I’m trusted everyday with young children.
“Priscila took very good care of our beloved pooch whilst we were away. Willow is a large dog who does not get on with all dogs. There were no issues whilst she looked after her and we were provided with regular updates and photos. The house was spotless when we returned and Willow seemed very well looked after. Priscila's communication was great, feeding and medication instructions were followed and she was very quick to reply to communications. I would recommend her strongly to any dog owner!”

About: I have been caring for dogs from a young age, as my family has had dogs since I was three years old. We started as a one dog family before growing into a household with three dogs. Through this experience, I have developed confidence in caring for small to medium sized dogs and understand the attention, patience, and responsibility they require. I am currently looking to break up my day and supplement my own business while I am growing my brand. My days are free and open with the bulk of my work in the late morning and early evening. I will be able to pop into any dogs or cats in the day or provide any midday walks. I have a fenced garden but I can’t board any animals in my apartment as I am just getting a new kitten, and want to build her trust.

About: I have a soft spot for senior pets, but a love for all! I can accomidate any medical needs and have worked with pets from all walks of life and rescue backgrounds. I am a neurodivergent women and a carer for my longtime partner with 2 elderly cats of my own so i am very flexible and enjoy the change in pace day to day! My cats want for nothing, living very fulfilling lives with enrichment coming out their ears! I'm happy to meet animals where they're at and give them the energy they need, from head pats on the sofa to bouncing off the walls.

Excellent. Both my dogs settled with Sophie straight away. On the first day I went my Dacshund hurt his leg. Sophie took him to the vets for me and looked after him well. Giving him his medication having to feed him by hand. A lot of work for her to do as she works from home also. Definitely would recommend Sophie to anyone. Especially if your dogs are needy dogs. Came home to a lovely clean house.

I would highly recommend Amy as a house sitter. Thanks so much Amy.

Michelle came to meet us beforehand and she is lovely, friendly and very reassuring (it was our first time leaving the cat!). She clearly knows lots about cats and how to care for them, she sent updates whilst we were away which was really appreciated and our cat is very happy with Michelle! 🐱😊
Felicity stayed at our place with Asha, our dog, for 5 days while we were abroad. We could see that Asha was very relaxed and being herself around her ☺️ Felicity followed her walking schedule , took her to our local park and sent loads of updates ! I would definitely book her again in the future ❤️

I believe Grace is a dog whisperer! 😅 Our dog, Chilli, usually barks at someone new for about five minutes, but with Grace, it took only 10 seconds before he was licking her and wagging his tail. It was obviously love at first bark for him! 🤭 She was fantastic throughout, sending regular updates, which meant I could completely relax knowing both my dog and my home were in such trustworthy hands. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Grace again and will definitely be doing so in the near future! Thank you Grace! ☺️

Emily is absolutely fantastic! It was our first time having someone other than friends looking after the dogs and she really put our mind at ease about it all. She sent lots of pictures and updates so we knew the girls were being well taken care of and when we came home they were clearly content and relaxed. We would definitely have her take care of the girls again.

Our lab Lillth loved her time with Priscila, we received lots of lovely updates of their day, Priscila took Lilith on walks, played, and then Lillth had a well deserved nap. Priscila is very friendly, respectful of our house, and Lillth looks forward to seeing her again 😁

The lovely Jessica! What a relaxing weekend I have had knowing Boris was in safe hands. Constant updates and pictures. Boris was more than happy with Jessica. They had alloys of cuddles. Jessica also left my flat very clean and I felt comfortable having Jessica in my home. I would highly recommend. 5 Stars! 🌟

Ada has been brilliant- she came to meet my Frenchie Ralph the day before and I had total confidence in her then. She let me know when she arrived and left. Sent pics of Ralph and was very communicative. Would definitely use her again. Thanks Ada! Highly recommended

Alex looked after our two dogs for the first time, and we couldn't have been happier with the care he provided. We left home feeling completely confident that they were in safe and capable hands. Alex is enthusiastic, trustworthy, and immediately puts you at ease. He kept us updated regularly, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet care.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Sheffield walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sheffield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
