“Having met Eve for the first time I am completely reassured that Milo will be in the safest hands. Eve has already provided us with some helpful tips with having a puppy which we have put into good use already. Milo can’t wait to see Eve again x”

“Sophia was great! She was polite and friendly, arrived on time and was accommodating to our needs. Ava has been well looked after and is pooped now! We will definitely book Sophia again. Thank you 🥰”

About: Since I was 6 we have had cats, and I often look after friends dogs when they go away, my last dog was called Tara and she was an angel :) I am currently living a good life in my Luton van, a home on wheels, and am open to stopping for a longer stay at your home to take care of your pets. I work profesionally as a healer and musician and have peoples best interests at heart. I offer my loving presence and kind attention to all canine friends, I get along with most dogs I meet and they trust me as I have had my own dog in the recent past.
“Clare is absolutely lovely and took such great care of my cat, Ted. Ted had a great time hanging out with her and was very happy and content. Clare left the house absolutely spotless and had also gone to the trouble of getting me a lovely gift when I got home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Clare for house sitting :)”

“Lara was fantastic housesitting looking after our pets, they all had a great time with her! I feel like they hardly noticed we left 😂 she texted us photos of them while we were away which was lovely and appreciated. The house was nice and clean when we came back as well. Will definitely book her again!”

“Sue is THE BEST. She cares so much about my dog that I don't have a worry in the world leaving him with her. Sue is caring, thoughtful, warm and friendly. I would recommend Sue to anyone looking for someone to leave their precious pets with - you're in more-than-safe hands. We'll have Sue back any time we are away in the future! Thank you ever so much, Sue xxx”

“Nichole has been incredible with Jax and kept the house clean and tidy during my holiday (also watered all the plants). This was my first time leaving Jax whilst I’ve gone away and all my nerves were put to bed very quickly after the first update, as he looked so comfortable and happy so that is a great credit to Nichole and her experience. Received regular updates and photos, couldn’t be happier with the love and care she showed for Jax.”

“Anna was great - she helped us out at very short notice and was super communicative! She looked after our black lab perfectly - it was a fairly short sit, but she took him out for a walk and he was clearly very relaxed and happy in her company - she sent us pictures of him during the sit for peace of mind. Thank you once again, Anna!”
“Elisha was great. She came to the house to get to know Teddy before we went on holiday so he was happy and comfortable with her. She looked after the house and Teddy was happy and got lots of walks. She kept us informed with messages and photos of Teddy while we were away so we had total peace of mind. We found Elisha to be a kind and considerate lady and would thoroughly recommend her.”

“The dogs were all very happy having Lauren around to look after them. Dennis Spaniel can be a little tricky but Lauren was happy to manage him following my instructions and after a long walk together he flaked out.”

About: I've taken care of dogs of all kinds since I was about 8 years old. Growing up on a working farm, we always had much loved pets. Friends and family have relied on me to house sit while looking after their pets, taking them on long walks, playing with them, and feeding them. I’m experienced with handling multiple animals, including special needs senior doggies and high energy puppies of all sizes. I love all animals, and adore dogs especially. Pet sitting is a happy medium for me as I cannot have pets in my current rented accommodation. I'm currently working part time remotely, so I will have plenty of time to take your dog on long walks (or runs for those energetic pups) and play with it. I'm available for boarding throughout the week. I will be very happy to take your dog on plenty of walks and/or just be the best cuddle buddy. I will provide all the care, attention, and love to your beloved pet as if it was my own.
“This is the first time I’ve left my dog with a sitter and I couldn’t have asked for better. My dog Barker was completely at ease from the very first minute which is a real testament to how Madeleine is with dogs. She kept us up to date throughout our holiday with fab pictures and stories which showed that our dog was having a brilliant time and was relaxed and happy. The house was in perfect condition on my return too, A very happy customer!”

“Sarah looked after our house and dog for three weeks. Absolutely no concerns at all. Sarah kept us updated and sent us photos of our dog and he was clearly very happy and well looked after. Would definitely recommend Sarah.”

About: I’ve spent years caring for my three Cocker Spaniels, giving me hands-on experience with a breed that’s energetic, affectionate, and full of personality. From daily walks and grooming to managing routines, training, and lots of playtime, I’m comfortable handling dogs with high energy and big hearts. I know how to keep pups happy, safe, and engaged, and I bring that same level of patience and care to every dog I look after. I’m happy to be available to look after your adorable pets any evening after I finish work as an apprentice at 3pm or on any weekends! Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. With years of hands-on experience caring for my three Cocker Spaniels, I’ve learned how to create a calm, structured, and secure environment for dogs of all personalities. I keep a close eye on routines, body language, and comfort levels to ensure every pup feels safe and understood.
“David took great care of our dog Hattie whilst we were away for a few days. Hattie was very well looked after and we recieved updates and photos to assure us she was ok. We would definalty use David again in the future, he even managed to get Hattie to eat her tea which we struggle with! Thank you again.”

About: I have had dogs my entire life and done volunteer work in dog shelters abroad. I’ve had four dogs of my own who all lived to old age, alongside dog boarding for friends and families dogs. More recently my blind diabetic dog who was 17. I have experience in caring for all breeds and sizes of dogs, including puppies and older dogs requiring medications. I understand how difficult it can be finding dog care and not wanting to use kennels which can be stressful for dogs. I live in a large dog friendly house on a nature reserve, with lots of walks on my doorstep and a large doggy day care room where dogs can play or chill out on the large dog sofa, beds. Whilst I am not ready to have any more dogs of my own, I miss having dogs around and I’m in the ideal position to be able to look after your dog/dogs here in the Peak District. I’m offering a bespoke dog boarding, day care, tailored to your dogs requirements. Rest assured that your dog will be on a holiday of its own with me. I am the biggest dog lover you’re likely to meet. Your pet will not have to fit into my routine, I will be fitting into your pets routine. Your pet will have my full attention whilst with me. We will be going on lots of long walks together and having fun. My house is very dog friendly and your dog would be free to roam around all the house. I would keep your dog in the same routine as you’d have at home. Your dog could have access to supervised outdoor space and would be taken on regular walks. Please note, I do not have a big garden but I do have an outdoor yard and decking areas, also a small front garden and patio area. Dogs would have regular walks. I have done volunteer work in dog shelters and can handle all types of dogs. I am also experienced in managing any physical ailments such as diabetes etc.
“Christoper provided a great service looking after our doggies. He was greeted with a poorly dog and coped beyond what we had expected. Daily updates were much appreciated and kept us at ease. I hope he enjoyed.”

About: Hello! I’m Brigid. I’m currently having a break from work, but can’t pull myself away totally, so am offering some pet sitting and dog walking hours. By nature of the job, I’m an all animals type of person, but have a particular soft spot for the kitties. Please note that whilst I am a fully qualified vet, I will not provide any veterinary work, perform any clinical exams, or give any veterinary advice. For me to do the aforementioned is neither legal nor ethical. What I can offer is peace of mind for you if you have a pet with a medical condition and needs specific treatment administering, eg diabetics requiring injections, or pets with dry eye. My day to day work is keeping animals happy and healthy, detecting potential medical problems, and administering medications. I do sadly have lots of experience performing CPR in emergency situations, and am full capable of performing first aid in order to get your pet to their registered vet. If I decide your pet ever needs to be seen by their registered veterinarian, I will contact you immediately. I will be available most days, including the Christmas period and weekends. I’m an active walker regardless, and have lots of routes I can take your little one on with me. All whilst taking care of my own cat, Witchwitton! I currently cannot look after pets within my own home. All pet sits would need to occur within your home, but I am open to visiting multiple times a day or staying longer hours.

About: I grew up with dogs in our household and for the last 20 years I've had my own dogs but lost my last one, Sanza, a Toy Poodle, in June 2025. I dog sit two Dachshund sisters aged 15 regularly and enjoy it very much. I love dogs and would treat your dogs as if they were my own. Your pet's comfort, happiness and safety is my priority. I have experience of giving medication via injection as my dog was diabetic and had to have insulin injections twice a day as well as oral medication. I also have experience of looking after senior dogs as I have cared for dogs who are 14 and 15 years old. I am available to look after your dogs in my home or at your home so they have as little disruption to their routine as possible. I am retired so I'am at home all day so can look after your pets whenever you need me. I'm very flexible and can adjust my schedule to fit in around your needs. I have an enclosed garden which is fully fenced/ brick wall. The garden is very secure. I live in a semi detached bungalow so there are no stairs to climb. I have lots of toys for your dogs to play with. I am available to look after them in their own home or at my home. I am retired so I am around all the time to look after your dogs. I prefer to look after small dogs but will look after medium sized dogs as long as they walk well on the lead as I walk with a crutch so can't manage to walk large dogs who pull or lunge too strongly when they react to other dogs. I do not look after large dogs for safety reasons.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Derbyshire Dales
Evie did a wonderful job looking after my cat, Ted, while I was on holiday. She made the effort to get to know Ted and learn about his routines and favourite toys before the visit. During my trip Evie kept me updated with messages and lots of lovely pictures of Ted so I could see he was happy. I came home to a spotless house and a very happy cat, who had enjoyed his week with Evie. He is already missing her. I would definitely recommend Evie and will be hoping to book her again in the future!

Eve is the perfect pet sitter! Our two sausage dogs absolutely loved her and you could tell how much she cared for them too. From her first introductory message all the way through to finishing a two-night pet sit, Eve was professional, friendly and a great communicator. She made us feel completely at ease knowing our boys and the house were in safe hands. The regular updates were really appreciated and our house was left in spotless condition - with two very happy, walked and waggy-tailed dogs to return home to. Thanks so much Eve, we will 100% be booking you again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Derbyshire Dales choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
