I came home to a reassuringly happy 12 year old poodle having had videos of her being petted and prancing around in equal measure being sent each day. Couldn't ask for more from Josie, she looked after Dottie as though she was her own favourite pet. Thank you so much.

Emma was the perfect dogsitter! Our dog adored her and was sad to see her go, she was so well looked after (even taking her to the vet for a minor check up) and we had regular updates throughout the stay which was lovely to see. The house was even left spotless! Would highly recommend.

About: I have looked after several friend and family members’ dogs and cats whilst they have gone away on holiday, either staying in their home or dropping in for visits. For the last 4 years I have volunteered at an animal assisted intervention organisation, which takes dogs and small animals to schools and hospitals for outreach visits. This involves assessing the animals body language, responding to their cues and ensuring they are relaxed and comfortable. I believe this would be a vital skill for looking after your pet. When I lived in Edinburgh, I worked with a charity that volunteers to walk people’s dogs who find it difficult to get out and keep their dog exercised. I love hiking, getting out in nature and seeing dogs enjoy the outdoors too. I volunteer on a Monday and Friday, for a full or half day depending on the week, however I have lunch free. Outreaches finish at 4 at the latest, so I would be available after this to feed, exercise or play with your pet, and stay overnight if needed. On other days, my commitments are small and take an hour or two out of my day at most. I am flexible - I can stay in your home full time, drop by for shorter periods, and/or stay overnight. Just detail what best suits you and I will endeavour to meet your pet’s needs.

This is the second time Nichole has looked after our dog Poppy and again she was just brilliant! Nichole stayed for a week in our house whilst we were away and gave us regular updates, text messages, and photos. She was always there if we wanted some reassurance about the dog or the house. We felt completely comfortable & confident leaving Poppy with Nichole she has a natural ability to put dogs at ease, a lovely lady who we'd definitely use again without a doubt!

Michelle is a very friendly person who’s love of animals is obvious when you meet her. Michelle lived in while we were on holiday and took great care of our senior Border Collie, Billy, with regular walks, daily updates and photos, which completely put our mind at ease. She also administered his daily medication. It looks like he had a great time! We would have no problem recommending Michelle, she’s done a great job for us.

Stuart was absolutely fantastic with Ozzy. He offered to come and meet him the week before the sit, so Ozzy could get to know him first, which was really helpful, as Ozzy is really anxious and unsure of new people. This made him a lot more relaxed and comfortable when Stuart came to look after him as they had already met. He took Ozzy on a long walk, and also bought poo bags - as I forgot to leave some out for him 🤦🏼‍♀️ Would definitely use Stuart again to sit Ozzy and would highly recommend him!

Paige was amazing! She made me feel really at ease which is quite difficult when I hate leaving my boys. The boys really seemed to take to her straight away and it seems they had a lovely weekend. Paige was really communicative and sent photos and updates regularly. The boys were very well looked after, as was the house! I will hopefully definitely be using Paige again in future and would highly recommend her as a sitter :)

Torrie was communicative right from the initial contact and kept me updated with daily messages about our two cats throughout the week we were away. The cats clearly thrived in her company! We came home to a clean, tidy house and, most importantly, two very happy cats. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

About: I have had dogs my entire life and done volunteer work in dog shelters abroad. I’ve had four dogs of my own who all lived to old age, alongside dog boarding for friends and families dogs. More recently my blind diabetic dog who was 17. I have experience in caring for all breeds and sizes of dogs, including puppies and older dogs requiring medications. I understand how difficult it can be finding dog care and not wanting to use kennels which can be stressful for dogs. I live in a large dog friendly house on a nature reserve, with lots of walks on my doorstep and a large doggy day care room where dogs can play or chill out on the large dog sofa, beds. Whilst I am not ready to have any more dogs of my own, I miss having dogs around and I’m in the ideal position to be able to look after your dog/dogs here in the Peak District. I’m offering a bespoke dog boarding, day care, tailored to your dogs requirements. Rest assured that your dog will be on a holiday of its own with me. I am the biggest dog lover you’re likely to meet. Your pet will not have to fit into my routine, I will be fitting into your pets routine. Your pet will have my full attention whilst with me. We will be going on lots of long walks together and having fun. My house is very dog friendly and your dog would be free to roam around all the house. I would keep your dog in the same routine as you’d have at home. Your dog could have access to supervised outdoor space and would be taken on regular walks. Please note, I do not have a big garden but I do have an outdoor yard and decking areas, also a small front garden and patio area. Dogs would have regular walks. I have done volunteer work in dog shelters and can handle all types of dogs. I am also experienced in managing any physical ailments such as diabetes etc.

This is the first time I have used David. He turned up right on time and my dog Laika took to him straight away. David was respectful of my property and left it clean, tidy and secure. Very pleased as this is the first time I have used a home sitter/dog walker in many, many years. Already have further bookings with David.

FAQs for House Sitting - High Peak

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in High Peak on Rover is £30.33 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,658 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across High Peak. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred High Peak walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in High Peak choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
