“Elizabeth was absolutely fabulous. It was our first time leaving out cats since adopting our youngest and we were anxious parents, but Elizabeth really responded to their needs as individuals, and sent us regular pictures and videos that demonstrated just how well they were being looked after. We arrived home to find the house absolutely spotless and two very happy cats!”

About: Hello! I’m new to the pet sitting world, however since moving to Manchester City centre only a couple of weeks ago I’ve already sat for a few of the residents in my building- both cats and dogs. I’ve got experience of previously having my own springer spaniel (crazy but fun!) they definitely prepare you for any situation 🐕 I’ve moved from Bolton to Manchester so I’m still fairly local to ‘home’ where my family cat, Twix is my main highlight when I go back to Bolton, he’s independent and affectionate when he wants to be and I’ve grown up with him so I’m also comfortable around cats too. Would love for the opportunity to look after your pet in a safe and fun environment! I work from home most days and I’m also very flexible when I go to the office making my availability fairly open. Myself and my boyfriend are around each evening and usually free on weekends! I live in an 18th floor, secure apartment within Manchester City centre The apartment features a communal outdoor terrace, is pet friendly- for both cats and dogs It also has a courtyard to play ball/ for dogs to go to the toilet etc and is shaded so very cool especially for this weather. Close to Ancoats marina too which is a gorgeous dog walk!
“Absolutely loved having Imogen look after Winston this weekend! 🐶❤️ I’d never left him with someone he wasn’t familiar with before, so naturally I was a little nervous, but Imogen made me feel completely comfortable from the very beginning. She even let me bring Winston round a few days beforehand so he could get familiar with her and her home, which really put my mind at ease. While I was away, she kept me updated with plenty of gorgeous pictures and videos and took Winston on lovely walks. I genuinely felt so relaxed knowing he was safe, happy and being so well looked after. It made being away from him completely stress free. I couldn’t recommend Imogen enough and will definitely be booking with her again. She was absolutely amazing with Winston and I’m so grateful! 🥰🐾”

“Jess really helped us out at short notice looking after our elderly cat and anxious rescue dog for the weekend. She instantly formed a bond with them both and sent us regular updates and pictures throughout. Communication was excellent and she took great care of our girls and house, wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future. Thanks Jess! ❤️”

“Kiran was great, really communicative (sent us loads of updates) and did a meet and greet before to meet Remy and ask loads of questions about his routine etc. Remy had a great time with Kiran, would recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter”

“Yet again, Adrienn, I’ve looked after our precious babies with love and care. Treating our house as her own and leaving it in perfect condition. After using Adrienn twice now and the bond she has created with the dogs, she will now be our go to the house sitting going forward.”

“So lovely! First time using a cat sitter as we just got Caspar but Selin was so great, sent me updates through the day and took lots of vids and pictures which really helped me feel better about leaving him x”

“Ksenia was absolutely amazing! The dogs were well looked after and our house was clean and tidy upon arrival. The dogs actually missed her when she went. Will definitely be rebooking!”

About: I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember and have had Border Collies since I was a child, so dogs have always been a big part of my life. I’ve grown up understanding how much love, attention and patience they need, and I’m always the first to offer a cuddle or some fuss! 🥰 I’m also the first person in my family to volunteer for dogsitting, whether that’s looking after a dog for the day or making sure they get plenty of attention, walks and company. I’m happy and comfortable around all breeds and would love the opportunity to get to know your dog and their individual personality and routine. I live in Manchester City Centre in a calm, pet-free flat with a secure balcony and lovely walking space just across the road. I’d love for your dog to feel at home here and would give them plenty of one-to-one attention while they’re staying with me. I work full-time, but my schedule varies, with some days working from home and others where I’m away for part of the day. I’ll always make sure a booking suits your dog’s needs and routine before accepting it. I’ll keep you updated throughout their stay with photos and little messages, so you can see how they’re getting on while you’re away. 📸🐶 I’m also very happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand so you and your dog can get to know me and make sure we’re a good match! ❤️ I work a hybrid role, so I have flexibility around my working days and am available for pet care during evenings and weekends. I’m happy to work around your dog’s usual routine and make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, playtime and cuddles. I can care for dogs in my own home or in their owner’s home, depending on the service. I’m happy to follow their normal routine and any specific instructions you provide so they feel comfortable and settled. For dogs staying in my home, I can also provide a crate if needed, and I’m happy to discuss any other arrangements that would help your dog feel safe and at home.
“Zara is a superstar. Straight away - Olive took to her and with regular updates through the evening you could clearly see how comfortable Olive was with Zara. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely be using Zara again.”

“Found Jacques super last minute on my trip to Manchester for my graduation, where I was looking for someone to look after my (anxious!) dog Bentley in our hotel room. Jacques was very lovely and flexible with timings and communication and agreed to look after Bentley for the evening. Bentley immediately took to him and Jacques was so gentle and kind with Bentley, helping him calm down soon after we left, and Bentley was perfectly okay all evening and we received constant updates and pics. Would definitely trust Jacques to sit my dog again and thanks to him for a lovely hassle-free night! :)”

“Sofie did a brilliant job house sitting our dog Sandy! Sandy can be nervous and reactive, but Sofie was really great with her, and we could tell Sandy was settled and happy. Sofie kept us up to date throughout her stay, and left the house really clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend!”

About: Hi, I’m Grace! Based Manchester City Centre, I’m a huge animal lover based in Manchester city centre and have been caring for dogs since I was around 10 years old. Friends, neighbours and family have always trusted me to walk, feed, check in on and spend quality time with their pets while they’re away. I’m experienced with dogs of all breeds, sizes and personalities—from energetic puppies who need lots of playtime to senior dogs who prefer a slower pace and gentle care. I always make sure to follow each dog’s routine carefully so they feel safe, comfortable and happy. Whether it’s dog walking, drop-in visits or pet sitting, I’ll make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise, attention and affection. I understand how important it is to know your pet is in good hands, so I’m always happy to send regular updates and photos while you’re away. I’m reliable, patient and genuinely love spending time with animals. My goal is to make sure your dog feels relaxed and cared for while giving you complete peace of mind. I’m also happy to arrange a quick meet and greet beforehand so you and your dog feel completely comfortable. Feel free to message me with any questions — I’d love to meet you and your dog! 🐾 I work fully remote and can work my own hours so very flexible! I can take care of your dog Monday-Sunday all day except for any days I’ve out as unavailable on my calendar already. I’m happy to be flexible where possible and will always make sure your dog gets the attention, exercise and care they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walking routines and any special care needs. I make sure pets feel relaxed and secure, whether I’m caring for them in your home or taking them out for walks. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your dog is happy and well looked after.
“Gabriella was amazing with Stella! Not only did she give Stella all the tlc needed, Gabriella also took the time to acknowledge all her care requirements. I could relax knowing Stella was in good hands. I would definitely use Gabriella again.”

“Shannon was professional, friendly and very reassuring from this, our first meeting. Bonnie immediately took to her and I had a relaxed break away, returning with everything in order and Bonnie happy. Communication was regular and clear throughout. Well done Shannon. We will be very happy to see you again.”

About: Hi! I’m Madeline, based in Manchester city centre (M4), and I’d love to help look after your cats or dogs while you’re away, at work or simply need someone to keep them company 🐾 I’m calm, patient and very comfortable around pets with different personalities, whether they’re confident and affectionate or a little shy and need time to get used to someone new. 🐱 Home visits For cat visits, I’m happy to help with feeding, fresh water, litter trays, treats, playtime and plenty of company. I can also send you photos and updates during each visit so you know how they’re getting on. I’m comfortable looking after multiple cats in the same household and I’m also happy to spend a little extra time with cats who are particularly clingy or simply enjoy having someone around. Morning and evening visits are available depending on your location and the dates required. 🐶 Dogs & companion sitting I’m also happy to care for friendly dogs and can offer longer evening visits where your dog mainly needs someone to stay with them and keep them company. This can work particularly well for dogs who don’t enjoy being left alone. I’m happy to bring my laptop and work quietly from your home while keeping them company if that suits their routine. 🏡 House sitting I can offer overnight stays on selected dates. Please note that I work Monday to Friday from approximately 8:00am–4:30pm, so weekday house sitting is best suited to pets who are comfortable being left during normal working hours. I can return after work, spend the evening with them and stay overnight. 📍 Location I’m based around M4 in Manchester city centre, so Ancoats, Northern Quarter, city centre and nearby areas are particularly convenient for me. Therefore given the distance I would be happy to stay longer if needed or any urgent queries:) i can sometimes travel further depending on the booking, so please feel free to message me with your postcode and I’ll let you know. 🤍 Before your booking I really like arranging a meet-and-greet beforehand whenever possible. It gives me a chance to meet your pet, learn their routine and make sure both you and your pet are comfortable before you go away. Feel free to share more about your pet, their personality and what kind of care you’re looking for. I’m always happy to see if we can find an arrangement that works for both of us 😊 I currently work weekdays from around 8am–4:30pm, so I’m mainly available for pet care in the evenings and on weekends. I can also offer morning visits depending on location. From October onwards, I’m planning to focus on pet sitting much more fully, which means I’ll have greater flexibility for daytime visits, longer sits, evenings and weekends. I’m always happy to discuss your pet’s routine and see what schedule works best for both of us. When caring for pets in their own home, I always try to keep their normal routine as consistent as possible. I follow the owner’s instructions carefully and make sure food, water, litter trays and the home are kept clean and tidy. I’m happy to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand so your pet can get comfortable with me and you can show me everything I need to know. I also send regular photos and updates while you’re away so you know how your pet is doing. I’m patient with shy pets and will always give them space rather than forcing interaction.

“Martha was an absolute gem, we’ve never left Neville before so we’re a bit apprehensive but Martha put our minds at ease. Her love for animals shone through and it was very easy for us to leave Neville with her. Thank you so much Martha, we hope you enjoyed the last couple of days as much as Neville has. Xx”

Will was absolutely lovely with Lizzy, and it was clear from the updates and photos that she was having a great time and was really well looked after. He kept me updated while I was away, which was really reassuring and meant I could relax knowing she was in safe hands. I would definitely book him again!

Lucy was absolutely amazing, I cannot recommend her enough. She took great care of our cat DeeDee and was very attentive to her needs and habits. Lucy also took wonderful care of our home and provided plenty of updates and pictures of the cat. I was very worried to leave our fluffy baby for 10 days but Lucy erased all our worries both before and throughout her cat sitting adventure. DeeDee has definetely made a friend in Lucy and I'll definetely book with her again 😊

Maria was amazing with Eric from the minute she came to my home, lots of updates and texts. She even accepted an unexpected parcel for me, thankfully her husband was with her to lend a helping hand as it was a heavy one. It was agreat first time experience for me using dog sitters. I would fully recommend Maria.

Becky was amazing with my anxious and big dog sugar. She housesit for us and she left the house spotless and followed complicated instructions on how to look after her and took her on long walks! She sent me lots of updates and pictures and was generally a lovely person. Would recommend 100%.

Never used a service like this before but now I would highly recommend it, especially David. Met and liked David straight away, as did my dog Hugo. Followed all instruction to the letter as in, feeding times and walks. Our house was immaculate, very respectful of everything. I will always use David going forward. If this is something you may be unsure of, as I definitely was, go for it. A massive thanks to David
Jess was absolutely amazing, Hamilton instantly liked her, she sent loads of lovely photos and I felt confident the whole time I was away that he was happy! Because I wasn’t constantly worried that he was lonely I actually enjoyed my time away from home, if I could give more stars I would 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the first time we had left our little man alone so it was a nervous time. However Qiyu was amazing with regular updates and pics and keeping him calm and happy. He settled quickly and was very happy to have his new friend take care of him. Thank you for looking after him. Lots of communication throughout the process from booking to initial visit and the booking. Highly recommended.

Anna stayed in my flat watching over my cat Oliver for almost two weeks with a one week notice. He doesn’t take to strangers but after a couple of days they became good friends ☺️ It means the world when you walk through the door and your pet looks happy and not scared. Not to mention that the flat looked exactly as clean as I left it. Definitely would recommend and will repeat xx

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Manchester walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Manchester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
