“Martha was an absolute gem, we’ve never left Neville before so we’re a bit apprehensive but Martha put our minds at ease. Her love for animals shone through and it was very easy for us to leave Neville with her. Thank you so much Martha, we hope you enjoyed the last couple of days as much as Neville has. Xx”

“Jess really helped us out at short notice looking after our elderly cat and anxious rescue dog for the weekend. She instantly formed a bond with them both and sent us regular updates and pictures throughout. Communication was excellent and she took great care of our girls and house, wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future. Thanks Jess! ❤️”

“Imogen did such a great job sitting for our dog, Sandy. She came for a meet and greet beforehand, communication was great throughout, and we knew Sandy was being really well looked after. Sandy can sometimes be a little nervous with new people, but she was happy and comfortable around Imogen straight away. Highly recommend!”

“Faye took care of our dog at our house. She came to visit us and our dog before her stay, and was extremely responsive before, during and after her stay with us. Faye took great care of Bob and sent us regular updates. I would highly recommend Faye to take care of your pup.”

About: I have had dogs for five years and throughout childhood! My home is central to town and has ample space for your dog(s) to roam and a back garden. I often take my dogs to Phillips park and Clayton Vale and they love friends to join them in walkies! My dogs are ages 8 months and 4 years and are both cockapoos! I work from home and currently taking a break from work to enjoy the summer meaning they’ll get nothing but attention all day! I have had both of my dogs since puppies and can help train yours if your new to being a dog parent! I am currently not working and taking some time to decide my next career move. I normally work remotely from home and routinely look after my friends pets as well as my own loving cockapoos! I have a very clean and big home to look after your dog(s). I have two adorable cockapoos and a cat who mainly likes to stay upstairs! My dogs are so playful and we go many places together for great walks with lots of playtime involved. I’ve looked after many dogs and currently not working giving me the ability to give your dogs an amazing time at my home as well as giving you a deserved rest and time out! We have a fully enclosed garden space and a three story house next to the canal in close proximity to Clayton Vale and Phillips Park for extra fun time in nature which is a favourite of my dogs!

“Kiran was great, really communicative (sent us loads of updates) and did a meet and greet before to meet Remy and ask loads of questions about his routine etc. Remy had a great time with Kiran, would recommend her to anyone needing a pet sitter”

About: I've spent most of my life looking after dogs and have grown up with 8 family dogs, including Toy and Miniature Poodles, French Bulldogs and a Cocker Spaniel. They've all had their own personalities and needs, so I'm used to adapting my care to suit each dog. I'm comfortable caring for puppies, adult dogs and senior dogs, as well as dogs that are a little nervous or reactive. I understand that every dog is different, and I'm always patient, calm and happy to let them get to know me at their own pace. I'm also confident giving medication when needed, including tablets, ear drops, eye drops, ointments and insulin injections, always following the owner's instructions carefully. As well as caring for my own family dogs, I regularly dog sit for my sister's dogs and have completed a 7-day house and dog sit for a friend while they were on holiday. I've also cat sat for friends several times, including feeding, refreshing water, cleaning litter trays, playing with them and making sure they had plenty of company. My professional background is in medical laboratories, where I've worked as a laboratory manager and senior scientist. Those roles required a high level of responsibility, attention to detail and following procedures carefully—qualities that I also bring to caring for pets. Although I'm new to Rover, caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I'll treat every pet as if they were my own and always do my best to make sure they feel safe, happy and loved while you're away. I currently on a career break, so I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care. I am available for walks, drop-in visits and house sitting, and I can work around each pet's usual routine to help keep their day as normal and comfortable as possible. I understand that consistency is important for pets, so I always make sure to follow their usual feeding times, exercise routines and any specific instructions provided by their owner. Alongside my love of animals, my professional background is in medical laboratories, where I've worked as a Laboratory Manager and Senior Scientist. My career has taught me to be organised, dependable and highly attentive to detail—qualities that are equally important when caring for someone's beloved pet. Whether it's following feeding schedules, administering medication according to instructions or noticing changes in behaviour, I always take my responsibilities seriously. I am organised, reliable and happy to provide regular updates and photos, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is being well cared for while you are away. The safety and wellbeing of every pet I look after is my top priority. Before caring for a pet, I like to understand their personality, routine, likes, dislikes and any special requirements so I can provide care that suits them as an individual. When visiting a pet owner's home, I will treat their home with the same respect I would expect for my own. I will carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, walks, medication and any other routines, while making sure pets feel comfortable and relaxed in their familiar environment. Having grown up with eight family dogs and cared for dogs and cats for friends, I understand that every animal has their own personality and needs. I am comfortable with puppies, senior pets, and nervous or reactive dogs, and I always take a calm and patient approach to building trust. I also have experience administering medication, including tablets, ear drops, eye drops, ointments and insulin injections, when required and following the owner's guidance carefully.
“Gabrielle is great! She’s so prompt at communicating, we get lots of messages and photos when we are out and costi is always so excited to see her. She’s now our go-to sitter 😊”

“Adrienne visited the dogs a couple of times before this weekend, the dogs loved her and she clearly loves them. Kept us informed on the dogs progress all weekend, especially when there was a storm at home while we were away. Adrienne and left our house perfect, we arrived home to two very happy dogs. we will most definitely be using Adrianne again.”

“Lauren looked after our 2 little Dachshund girls recently in our home whilst we were on holiday. She was absolutely fantastic!! and our girls loved her, it was such peach of mind knowing they was happy and being so well looked after. Even getting little updates whilst we were away made it even more special. We came home to 2 very happy girls and also a spotless home. We will most definitely be using Lauren going forward!”

About: I have been a devoted pet lover from a young age, growing up with two dogs — a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier — which gave me a deep understanding of canine behaviour and needs. I have also been a cat owner since 2023, caring for two beautiful cats, a Ragdoll and a Golden British Shorthair. This experience has taught me to understand different pet personalities and provide attentive, loving care. Friends and family have trusted me to look after their pets, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. I take pride in keeping owners updated with regular photos and messages, so you can enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind. As a full-time pet sitter, I am available 7 days a week with no other work or study commitments. Your pet will receive my complete attention throughout the day. I will follow their usual feeding schedule, play with them regularly, and ensure they feel comfortable and settled in their own home environment. I provide care exclusively in your own home, which means your pet stays in a familiar and stress-free environment with all their favourite toys, bedding and routines. I treat every pet as my own, with the same love and attention I give to my two cats. I will keep all doors and windows secure, follow any specific instructions you leave, and send regular photo and video updates throughout the day so you always know your pet is happy and safe.
About: It goes without saying that I am a big dog lover. Ill always say hello to the dogs who walk past me in the street and seeing their little wagging tails makes me so happy haha. I had my own doggy, Alfie, an amazing Springer Spaniel, for 10 years, but he sadly passed in September 2019 after a super short battle with liver disease. He was truly the life and soul of the family and my absolute best friend, and he just increased my love for doggos even more! My auntie has 5 dogs, all of which are/were competing agility dogs, some even at CRUFTS, so I’ve had experience with dogs of different obedience levels - from puppy onwards. I’ll ensure your pooch has the best day/walk/stay with me and treat them as if they were my own. They’ll be showered in love, play time (if wanted), fun walks and cuddles! I’m self employed and work from home so my availability and flexibility is wide. I do occasionally travel to London and have meeting days, but I am free a lot and will just need a few days notice for bookings! My home is locked even when I’m home and it’s all on one level. There is a lift to get up to the 2nd floor or stairs.

I’m experienced with dogs of all breeds, sizes and personalities—from energetic puppies who need lots of playtime to senior dogs who prefer a slower pace and gentle care. I always make sure to follow each dog’s routine carefully so they feel safe, comfortable and happy. Whether it’s dog walking, drop-in visits or pet sitting, I’ll make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise, attention and affection. I understand how important it is to know your pet is in good hands, so I’m always happy to send regular updates and photos while you’re away. I’m happy to be flexible where possible and will always make sure your dog gets the attention, exercise and care they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walking routines and any special care needs. I make sure pets feel relaxed and secure, whether I’m caring for them in your home or taking them out for walks. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your dog is happy and well looked after.
“So lovely! First time using a cat sitter as we just got Caspar but Selin was so great, sent me updates through the day and took lots of vids and pictures which really helped me feel better about leaving him x”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Manchester
We had the pleasure of having Kate look after our precious older girl, Mimi, and we genuinely couldn’t have wished for anyone better. Mimi is an older, very nervous cat who usually finds strangers quite overwhelming, so we’ve always been anxious about leaving her, even with friends or family. From the moment Kate met her, though, her calm, gentle nature immediately put Mimi at ease. It was amazing to see how quickly Mimi relaxed and settled, which is something we rarely experience. Kate cared for Mimi as if she were her own, showing so much patience, kindness and understanding. It was obvious that Mimi felt completely safe, comfortable and loved throughout her stay. We also received regular updates and lovely photos, which gave us so much reassurance and meant we could truly relax knowing Mimi was in the very best hands. Kate is an absolute gem, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can completely trust with their beloved pet. We’re so grateful for the love and care she gave our girl, and we’ll definitely be booking with her again.

Jess was absolutely amazing, Hamilton instantly liked her, she sent loads of lovely photos and I felt confident the whole time I was away that he was happy! Because I wasn’t constantly worried that he was lonely I actually enjoyed my time away from home, if I could give more stars I would 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the first time we had left our little man alone so it was a nervous time. However Qiyu was amazing with regular updates and pics and keeping him calm and happy. He settled quickly and was very happy to have his new friend take care of him. Thank you for looking after him. Lots of communication throughout the process from booking to initial visit and the booking. Highly recommended.

Anna stayed in my flat watching over my cat Oliver for almost two weeks with a one week notice. He doesn’t take to strangers but after a couple of days they became good friends ☺️ It means the world when you walk through the door and your pet looks happy and not scared. Not to mention that the flat looked exactly as clean as I left it. Definitely would recommend and will repeat xx

Found Jacques super last minute on my trip to Manchester for my graduation, where I was looking for someone to look after my (anxious!) dog Bentley in our hotel room. Jacques was very lovely and flexible with timings and communication and agreed to look after Bentley for the evening. Bentley immediately took to him and Jacques was so gentle and kind with Bentley, helping him calm down soon after we left, and Bentley was perfectly okay all evening and we received constant updates and pics. Would definitely trust Jacques to sit my dog again and thanks to him for a lovely hassle-free night! :)

Elizabeth was great with Wilfred and really looked after him well, he was really settled straight away. Dealt with his skin allergies and medications with no problems. The apartment was probably cleaner than we left it! Highly recommended and will rebook with Elizabeth again soon!

We found Luke as a last minute sitter during my trip to Manchester for my graduation, when we were looking for someone to look after our anxious dog, Bentley, in the hotel room. Luke was very prompt and polite with his communication, and after a short meet the evening before, managed to get Bentley to get friendly and play with him almost instantly. He was also really good with giving us updates throughout the evening and took care of Bentley really well, making sure he had his evening meal and rested enough. I cannot thank Luke enough for a hassle-free grad evening and for taking care of Bentley so well! :)

Nadia looked after Buffy for a few days and treated our home and kitten amazingly. We received regular updates, photos, and videos, letting us know how he was doing with his food as he had been fussy recently due to the heat. Would 100% book with her again as Buffy loved her :)

We had a great experience with hannah and would happily book again. She was so kind, communicative, and kept us updated while looking after our dogs, which gave us real peace of mind. She made sure they were walked, fed, and well cared for, and they were clearly very happy and comfortable with her. Thank you so much for taking such good care of them!

Gabriella was fantastic with Suki! From the very first minute, it was clear Suki felt completely comfortable with her and that instantly put me at ease too. You can tell Gabriella genuinely knows dogs. She picked up on Suki's needs right away and handled everything with real confidence and care. I felt safe leaving Suki with her from day one and that trust was well placed. Honestly, Suki's been giving me the side-eye ever since Gabriella left. I think she's already plotting her next visit. Highly recommend Gabriella to anyone looking for a sitter who truly loves and understands dogs!

Nicholai was fantastic with Kane. Kane was a little nervous as we’ve just moved house and everything is still quite new for him, but Nicholai was brilliant with him. When we got back, Kane was calm and relaxed, which really showed how well he’d been looked after. We’d definitely book with Nicholai again and would highly recommend him!

Simi was fab! Communication was amazing and provided frequent photos and updates at all different times of the day! As someone who’s paranoid about my pets, Simi really put my mind at ease and didn’t have to worry at all whilst I was away! Will definitely re-book🥰

Eve was absolutely amazing! She came and looked after our cat Arlo whilst we were away for our wedding and completely put our minds at ease. She kept us updated with little pictures throughout the weekend and when we arrived home our apartment was just as we had left it and Arlo was very happy. We cannot recommend Eve enough she was absolutely fantastic and we would 100% book her again anytime we need a cat sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Manchester walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Manchester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
