“I'm so pleased we found Yara through Rover. She looked after our dog, Jenny for a few days at our house and was brilliant with her. She has a real genuine care and interest for animals, and it came across clearly when we met her,but also how she looked after jenmy throughout the stay. We appreciated her contact with us over the few days and the photo updates. She even taught her a new trick! The house was spotless when we got back and Jenny was relaxed, showing she'd clearly had a good time. Will definitely be asking her to look after Jenny again and would recommend 100%. Thanks Yara!”

“Emma was brilliant with Axel, we had regular updates with photos and what they'd been doing during the day...took really good care of our flat as well as Axel...will definitely be booking Emma again in the New Year”

“Nicola was amazing during her stay with our Dachshund Teddy. She was very patience with Teddy and kept me updated with photos. It definitely put my mind at ease leaving him. We will definitely be using Nicola again.”

About: I had a family dog since I was a teenager for 12 years and have looked after them in my spare time ever since. Now in my thirties, I've gained a lot of experience with dogs of many different ages, breeds and temperaments. I'm currently available pretty much whenever you need, for whatever you need. Whether it be just a few hours or a few days, I'm happy to help!I I live on a quiet, dog friendly cut-de-sac with lots of parks nearby. And I have a fenced garden, with plenty of space for your pup to run around and play.
About: I have have been around dogs since I was born, I bought my own dog when I was 18, she is 13 now and lives with my parents. I have dog walked for family and friends and taken care of friends dogs while they are away. I work 8 - 4 Mon - Fri so have time for dog walking in the evening and weekends. This also means I am available for boarding and doggy day care. I work from home one day a week so only really available for boarding over a weekend. We have a fully fenced in out door space. We have plenty of room inside for crates if required. We live on a quiet road but would never leave the dog unattended if the front door was every open. We are also right near Stamford park which is a great spot for a local walk. I live with my Fiance Harry. I will take care of the dogs but he is happy to provide cuddles and join in with play time.
“Robert was punctual as always. Doodles was very happy to see him and had lots of playtime in the garden. She slept soundly soon after Robert left! We have no hesitation in recommending Robert to other pet owners.”

About: I have grown up with family pets including horses, fish, birds, hamsters and mostly dogs! I was a regular Borrow My Doggy walker and have provided overnight dog sitting for family and friends. Dogs I have cared for and grown up with include cairn terrier, lurcher, cockapoo, beagle, mixed breed. A year ago I rescued my first cat Willow from the RSPCA and have never looked back! She's been the best addition to our family. My main job is a registered nurse. I've been a cancer/palliative care nurse for 26 years so if you're looking for someone who is thoughtful, caring, reliable and trustworthy that's just who I am. My availability will be mostly ad hoc on my days off and holidays. I work to a monthly rota in my main job as a registered nurse so pet drop ins, walks and sitting will fit in around this. *Message me for dates from August '26 onwards - current availability released for April, May, June and July* I will be guided by you and care for your pets as you would; how you manage their behaviour, walking on or off the lead, feeding, cleaning and providing love and attention. About: What sets me apart is my formal education in zoology combined with hands-on experience in the animal sector. I understand animal behavior, body language, and welfare on a deeper level than the average sitter, allowing me to tailor care to each dog’s individual needs. I’m attentive, knowledgeable, and calm in a variety of situations—whether that’s caring for energetic puppies, senior dogs, or pets that need a little extra patience and understanding. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to spend plenty of time caring for and engaging with your dog throughout the day. Attentive, hands-on care for your beloved pet. I aim to create a safe, calm, and trusting environment where dogs can feel relaxed and secure (your dog’s home away from home). I make sure they have plenty of space, enrichment, and the same routine they’re used to at home, so they feel settled and cared for. Hygiene and comfort are a top priority, and I always follow your instructions closely to keep your little ones happy and healthy. 🐾 In Your Home When looking after pets in their own home, I treat your space with the same respect as I do my own. About: I currently work for the UKS largest rehoming organisation which allowed me to learn dog behaviours inside and out, having undergone training to recognise behaviours, what they mean, and how i can care for dogs personal to their needs. I also spent 7 months in The Philippines independently rescuing and caring for over 18 animals (newborn puppies and kittens included) - Having found my own furbaby on the street in horrific condition i nursed him back to full health and brought him back to the UK with me. Between working part time and caring for my own doggy, i have the time to help others look after their fur babies as i know life can be so busy! I have training on dog behaviours and know how to make your pet comfortable. I listen to even the smallest of needs/wants for your pet because every one is different and i know particular routines are so important! No detail is too small.

About: I’ve taken care of a bunch of different animals all my life, ranging from dogs, cats to hamsters and Guinnea pigs and my sisters rabbit! I LOVE animals to bits and often feel more connected with them and understand them better than people! I currently own a German shepherd who is my world and would love to make more animal friends! So if you need a friendly young man to keep your companion safe and comfortable, I’m your guy :D I’m currently unemployed so I have ALLLLL the time in the world for pet sitting and walking daily or nightly, as I’m free most of the day I’ll mostly be working from the owners home because I have a dog that doesn’t get along well with others, plus I want your dog to feel comfortable At your home I’d spend time by playing with them or taking them out for a walk, as well as feeding them and making sure they are watered

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Tameside
Yarah, is a truly lovely thoughtful young woman, who as a deep love of all animals and creatures great and small. I couldn't have asked for a nicer person to look after our 3 cats while we were away for a few days with our Grandson. She went above and beyond looking after them. It was lovely to be able to not have to worry at all about their care. She kept in touch with updates and photos etc. I will definitely be asking her to look after them again and cannot recommend her highly enough.😊

It is the first time we have used a dog sitter service and left Bodhi with someone he doesn’t know. Nicola met him beforehand and he seemed settled and relaxed during the stay. We received regular updates during the week and Bodhi had the company he needed while we were away. We also came back to our home looked after.

I highly recommend Kate who looked after our whippet tonight. From start to finish her communication and care were excellent and felt in safe hands. My dog was so happy with her when I came home he hardly moved to greet me. I think that's a good sign 😀 would definitely book again.

Micheal was fantastic from the first point of contact . Communication was excellent before caring for Holly and Kobe and during the time they were in his care. Micheal ensured he had all the information he needed to care for Holly and Kobe . He took the time to get to know them before we went away . Whilst we was on holiday Micheal would send daily updates with photos. We did not have to worry about Holly and Kobe whilst on holiday as we knew they were being well cared for . We had two happy dogs on our return from holiday and they have not sulked with us for the first time for leaving them !

This was our first time leaving Beans with someone else and we were a bit nervous as she can have some separation anxiety but Emma put our minds right at ease! She sent lots of updates, asked lots of questions beforehand and was so reassuring. Beans warmed to her immediately and had a lovely day. Would definitely recommend and hope to book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Tameside walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tameside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
