Cannot recommend Julia and Tony enough. We always worry when leaving our babies, however I had updates constantly, reassured me throughout the whole day! She also came back exhausted which is always a great sign. 5* service!

My 14yr old Dachshund had a weekend stay with Julie following his companion of 12yrs passing away. He was very depressed and not himself at all and I wasnt going to go to my plans initially. I then came across Julie and she seemed so lovely. During the initial visit she was calm and kind and Ziggy seemed right at home. She was sp accommodating when I explained that I had to leave earlier and said it was okay he could go. She sent me regular updates and pictures to reassure me that Ziggy was okay. He looked like he has a smashing time and was cared for very well. He's got a little bit of himself back and I would rebook Julie for future plans 🖤 thankyou

It was our first time using Bianca and Chloe after a last-minute booking due to unforeseen circumstances, and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. They were both so welcoming, and from the moment I arrived and met their gorgeous and very friendly dog Otis, I knew Jess was in great hands. We got loads of updates throughout her stay with texts, photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Jess came home absolutely shattered from all the fun she’d had! We’ll definitely be using Bianca and Chloe again and couldn’t recommend them more! Thank you for taking such good care of our girl! 🥰

Steve is absolutely brilliant! Albi stayed with him for an evening earlier in the year, and we were so impressed with the care he gave that we were thrilled when he was available again for our week-long holiday. Steve kept us updated with loads of lovely photos and messages, and it was clear Albi was having the best time! He made new dog friends, had plenty of fun, and honestly didn’t look like he was ready to come home. We’re so grateful for the love and attention Steve gave him, we wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.

Our two dogs very quickly felt happy and comfortable (we could see that before we even left) Claire kept us informed with pictures, videos and messages. When we collected our dogs they were very happy and I’m sure didn’t want to leave :D Will be using Claire’s boarding services again soon.

My dog went to caitlin for 2 nights earlier this week, after an initial meet and greet a few days before. She asked lots of questions to get as much information about cody before his stay, to get to know his routines, and to make it more comfortable for him. She provided updates with photos of him on walks etc and just chilling, reassuring me that he felt comfortable in their home and in their company. Would let him stay again.

About: Over the years, I've taken care of every kind of pet, from dogs to guinea pigs, for friends and family as well my own including rabbits, dogs, fish, etc. I've been a carer for over 30 years, and now that I'm retired I'm looking to fill the days with something I love. I'd treat your furbabies as if they were my own. I'm recently retired so there's plenty of availablw time in my schedule to take care of and play with your pets, including weekends! I have a spacious fenced garden and only own fish. Living near a large park means there's plenty of open space to walk dogs.

Honestly I cannot sing praise here enough. Stasys was super patient with Eevee and she had an amazing time! I loved getting photo updates, communication was fantastic throughout the booking process and her following stay. We ended up stuck on the way home from our trip and Stasys went out of his way to drop Eevee off with a family member just to take some stress off my plate - honestly that was such a big help. If he'll have her, I'll definitely be using again in the future. Absolutely no notes.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Tameside on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,981 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Tameside. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
