“Dan is amazing. His genuine love for dogs really shows: he’s patient, caring, and always puts the dog’s needs first (even if that means playing fetch for the 100th time). Our rescue Belgian Malinois, Apple, stayed with him for two weeks over Christmas and he handled her reactivity and need for a slow introduction perfectly and Apple now runs toward Dan, which says everything. By the time we left for our holiday leaving her behind for the first time, all my worries were gone. We picked her up happy, clean, and with everything neatly packed. Dan is the best, highly recommend.”

“Amanda and John had our pug Hugo for our two week holiday. Communication from booking to picking our dog up at the end as been exceptional. We booked him in months in advance as this was the first time I used a dog boarder and first time using rover so I was a little hesitant to leave my dog with strangers. However, we met up with Amanda and John before the two week stay and all my worry went within a minute. When I was on holiday I got so many updates and photos of Hugo from Amanda. It really did put my mind at ease through the whole holiday. I really looked forward to getting them. Put a massive smile on my face. I couldn’t recommend Amanda and John enough as dog boarders. I will be booking again for my next holiday and for all my future holidays. Thankyou Amanda and John for treating Hugo like your own dog in your own home.”

“Michael is the absolute best, Tinkerbell loves him and settles immediately. Michael provides daily updates and photos. In the recent hot weather he made sure she was hydrated and kept cool! We can’t recommend Michael enough, you can see this as his diary is almost always booked up and we have to book him a year in advance and fit in our holidays to when he is available. He is a star! ⭐”

“Nicola and her family were fantastic with Rosie! She seemed very happy being dropped off and we got regular updates. She has recently developed a lot of anxiety since losing our other dog resulting in nighttime issues, despite this Nicola dealt with it superbly”

“lidia was brilliant with my puppy, I left him in her care overnight, she ensured me he was ok through the duration sending me pictures of him. Bailey was very happy with her care :)”

“Our 6 months puppy Dora stayed over for one night only. Karen and her dogs did great job. Very good communication. Lots of updates in pictures. Dora had great time and she was so tired after play whe we picked up dog. Trully recomend Karen and definitely will use again ?”

“My dog Marshall went to stay with Karen and her partner at quite short notice. Karen was very accommodating. He had the most wonderful time and was extremely well cared for. I had lots of updates and photos from Karen and she was extremely responsive to messages. I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family and I will definitely use Karen’s services in the future.”

“My 14yr old Dachshund had a weekend stay with Julie following his companion of 12yrs passing away. He was very depressed and not himself at all and I wasnt going to go to my plans initially. I then came across Julie and she seemed so lovely. During the initial visit she was calm and kind and Ziggy seemed right at home. She was sp accommodating when I explained that I had to leave earlier and said it was okay he could go. She sent me regular updates and pictures to reassure me that Ziggy was okay. He looked like he has a smashing time and was cared for very well. He's got a little bit of himself back and I would rebook Julie for future plans 🖤 thankyou”

“Sarasa was really accommodating in looking after Henry for an overnight stay at short notice. I was sent lots of updates, photos and vids and it was clear that he had a fantastic time. He was tired and very happy when he got home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her and leave Henry with her again. Everything was set up to meet Henry's needs and he particular enjoyed playing with Coco and another little canine friend who was also staying there at the same time.”

“Steve provided excellent care for Jolene on her first stay away from home. Shortly before her arrival she was diagnosed with an ear infection and Steve was very happy to clean her ears and apply the necessary treatment (they are already looking much better). Jolene got 4 walks a day including some off lead and clearly got lots of fuss, attention and cuddles at home too. In fact I don’t think she wanted to come home! Having seen Steve handle my other “unruly” dog 🐕 on a walk the previous week I had no qualms about leaving the better behaved Jolene in his care. And I was especially grateful for the fabulous photos and updates throughout the weekend that helped to put my mind at rest. Thank you Steve- I do hope we can book you again for her next 4 star full board luxury spa weekend!”

“Clare was fantastic, very pet focused. We did a meet and greet before he stayed overnight, which went so well. She was very flexible with times. A lovely touch was Clare took the time to take photos throughout his stay and send them over. Dekka obviously had a fantastic time, he is a 7 month Doberman puppy so full of fun which Clare managed very well. I will definitely book Clare again.”

“Matthew was a fantastic pet sitter for my dog, Inky. He was friendly, reliable, and kept Inky active and happy throughout his stay. It was clear that he genuinely cared for him and made sure he was well looked after. I would definitely book Matthew again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I cannot speak highly enough of Caitlin! This was the first time leaving our dog with pet sitter and she took very good care of him. She sent us frequent photos, which put our minds at ease. Our Ozzy came back happy and well cared for!!! Highly recommended! Thank you, Caitlin!”

“It was our first time using Bianca and Chloe after a last-minute booking due to unforeseen circumstances, and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. They were both so welcoming, and from the moment I arrived and met their gorgeous and very friendly dog Otis, I knew Jess was in great hands. We got loads of updates throughout her stay with texts, photos and videos, which really put our minds at ease. Jess came home absolutely shattered from all the fun she’d had! We’ll definitely be using Bianca and Chloe again and couldn’t recommend them more! Thank you for taking such good care of our girl! 🥰”

“Both were great, clearly love dogs and know what is needed to take care of a puppy properly! They did a couple of drop ins and had my puppy overnight, I got lots of updates and photos from them Would recommend!”

About: I looked after a Basenji with severe separation anxiety and a tendency to bite for two years. During that time, I provided regular walks, drop-in visits, and dog sitting. I also grew up with my dog for 10 years :) I work as a freelance artist from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of quality time with pets. I’m available throughout the week and I can easily adapt to your pet’s usual routine. :) I don’t have any pets of my own, so my home is a calm and quiet environment, which can be especially beneficial for nervous or anxious pets. I live in a spacious house with a large garden where dogs have plenty of room to explore and play. I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Left Wilbur with Tracey and Dani for a week and they did a wonderful job. It was clear that he was very well cared for and we had lots of lovely updates so we were reassured that he was getting very well looked after. They did such a fantastic job at short notice after our original plans had fallen through, would 100% absolutely recommend, Brian
Felt so at ease Gallardo staying with Daniel, he’s a lovely man and you can tell he’s passionate about what he does. He sent me regular updates and pictures. If your looking for someone to look after your pooch and it to be a home to home experience look no further. 5*

Delighted with the 5* care of our rescue dog Penny. She stayed for 3 weeks and was treated like part of the family with love, cuddles and plenty of walks. Penny had a blast and we had a relaxed holiday knowing she was so well looked after by Debra and Jimmy, we got daily photos and updates too, couldn’t have asked for more!🤩

Lauren has looked after our cockapoo Teddy overnight and daycare and comes highly recommended by myself and my family! Nothing is too much trouble and she keeps me updated with messages/ photos and videos of what they get up to. He’s provided with lots of exercise and stimulation and has made a little friend in their dog Dusty!
Friendly and professional. Sarah gave our one year old cocker spaniel Bailey a warm and welcoming home away from home. She was walked, fed and given lots of love. We got a lot of photos and videos of baileys stay, which really helped us feel connected during baileys absence. Highly recommend

Honestly I cannot sing praise here enough. Stasys was super patient with Eevee and she had an amazing time! I loved getting photo updates, communication was fantastic throughout the booking process and her following stay. We ended up stuck on the way home from our trip and Stasys went out of his way to drop Eevee off with a family member just to take some stress off my plate - honestly that was such a big help. If he'll have her, I'll definitely be using again in the future. Absolutely no notes.

This was the first time I’ve used a dog sitter and I was blown away by how happy my boy Sergio was while I was away. I received daily photos and videos the whole two weeks. Malgorzata and her husband gave my boy 5 star treatment and he had other dogs to play with. I had peace of mind the whole time and can’t thank them enough. I will definitely be using them next year.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
