Very friendly and welcoming towards our 3 year-old Golden Labrador. He has clearly been well looked after and is the same relaxed, happy dog when we picked him up after 5 days, which is probably the best indicator of a successful stay.

We would absolutely recommend Andrew and Nicky. We are bowled over with how much love and attention they have provided for our 13 year old schnauzer. He has come back in great form. Andrew and Nicky followed all our guidance and adjusted care to incorporate an older dogs requirements…we were so reassured by all they did for him ; especially during a heat wave. We will definitely be using their services again if we need them. Thanks ☺️

Mark has been great with my Nyla. He a calm to the storm of my dog, as she's energetic, can be needy, even though she's adorable 😊 She met his kids, which they wanted to keep her lol. I'm glad I have someone who I can trust to manage her tempermant & give her what she need (outside with her ball thrower) 😅 I'm happy for more overnight sittings while I am at work, as it's hard to find people who are good for your dog who you love and want to be treated well while you're away!

About: I don’t have my own pets but I’ve dog and cat sitted for family, friends and neighbours. I’m a puppy yoga teacher and live close to a big park. I work from home so companionship would be lovely and tend to enjoy walks around parks so your pup will get plenty of love and attention as well as outdoor walks! I live in a flat by myself so no need to check with anyone else on if I can take a dog in. Preferred corgi size and smaller as it’s a small two bed flat. I usually log in around 7am but then I would be able to take pup out for a little walk before being back at my desk. A little lunch break stroll and then after work walk - weather permitting we can go for a walk in Heaton park and have a play there. I also live close to a small field where it’s a short walk away for quick lunchtime run. A doggy small enough to cuddle on my lap as I work too would be lovely. I have enough space for a crate in my flat if needed. I’m super careful when looking after other dogs to clear big things with them or google what they can and can’t eat. I have a car too so if I’m out and it’s a dog friendly place I’d be happy to take them with me.

Lin took such good care of Peggy our schnauzer. Peggy has only ever been left with one family member so we were worried she would fret but was so settled and well looked after, we could relax and enjoy a family wedding. Lin gave regular updates via video and pictures. Such a wonderful host, if ever we have to leave Peggy again, I’ll certainly be contacting Lin. Thank you so much for taking such good care of her.

About: I have grew up around animals and always loved being around them. I always wanted my own growing up and ever since getting my own 2 dogs i want to do more! I have had both of my dogs since the age of 10 weeks so i've trained them from the very start. Currently not in work due to wanting to turn my dog sitting and walking into a small business for my self so I am free always to look after your furry best friend !! 🐶🐾 I have a large fenced and secure back garden with plenty of grass for dogs to run around in and play and also have my own 2 male dogs to keep your dog company and play with.

Leo, my 11 year old Cavapoo boarded with Christine and her husband Ray for 9 days whilst I went on a family holiday to Portugal. From the initial, comprehensive “meet and greet”, to final pick up, I was reassured that Leo was well cared for and enjoying himself. I was regularly sent updates and photos of Leo out on walks, in their garden, at home and even having cuddles with their grandchild (which I know Leo would have loved). Chris and her husband are clearly experienced dog lovers so I will definitely be boarding Leo with them again. I’m very happy and can’t recommend them highly enough!

She was a lovely mlady. I could see how much she loved dogs. I felt that Honey would be happy there, and when I went to pick her up I could tell she had been happy there. Nicola sent me photos and videos of Honey every day I felt I had no need to worry about Honey whatsoever. I will definitely use Nicola again without a doubt.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
