“Zara was amazing with Maple. Maple went off her food so Zara made her alternative meals, she took her on walks and sent me picture updates. Would have no hesitation in recommending zara, or rebooking with her.”

“Amanda and John had our pug Hugo for our two week holiday. Communication from booking to picking our dog up at the end as been exceptional. We booked him in months in advance as this was the first time I used a dog boarder and first time using rover so I was a little hesitant to leave my dog with strangers. However, we met up with Amanda and John before the two week stay and all my worry went within a minute. When I was on holiday I got so many updates and photos of Hugo from Amanda. It really did put my mind at ease through the whole holiday. I really looked forward to getting them. Put a massive smile on my face. I couldn’t recommend Amanda and John enough as dog boarders. I will be booking again for my next holiday and for all my future holidays. Thankyou Amanda and John for treating Hugo like your own dog in your own home.”

“Very friendly and welcoming towards our 3 year-old Golden Labrador. He has clearly been well looked after and is the same relaxed, happy dog when we picked him up after 5 days, which is probably the best indicator of a successful stay.”

“Third time using Lin, amazing at what she does and Sergio gets so excited and cries when we pull up to Lins street. We wouldn’t use anybody else to look after him whilst we’re away.”

“Tickey loved her second stay with Georgia and Stu. We could see from their pics and videos that she was having a brilliant time, playing and enjoying lots of attention. It's clear that they care enormously for the dogs they look after. Tickey came home relaxed and happy. We are really grateful to have found such a lovely couple.”

“Katie was so friendly and welcoming with Ollie, he took to her straight away! Thank you so much for giving him a wonderful holiday weekend and for all the photos and updates, we really appreciated it! Thank you! 😄”

Karen and Trevor are incredibly warm and caring — Watson was clearly in the best hands and felt right at home with them. Luna and Annie really enjoyed their stay with Jamila and Martin. They came home happy and you could tell that they were well settled when we picked them up. Jamila provided regular pictures and updates. They treated them as if they were their own and made them feel at home.
She was a lovely mlady. I could see how much she loved dogs. I felt that Honey would be happy there, and when I went to pick her up I could tell she had been happy there. Nicola sent me photos and videos of Honey every day I felt I had no need to worry about Honey whatsoever. I will definitely use Nicola again without a doubt.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
